Real plumbers rip Joe the Plumber for shilling against the Employee Free Choice Act.

Greg Sargent reports that Joe the Plumber has been tapped by the anti-labor Americans for Prosperity to do “a series of events throughout Pennsylvania rallying opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act.” Here’s why Americans for Prosperity spokesperson Mary Ellen Burke said Joe was chosen:

“The public loves Joe the Plumber,” the spokesperson, Mary Ellen Burke, claimed to me. “They see him as a role model.”

Asked whether Joe the Plumber had any particular knowledge or expertise about EFCA that might explain the decision to enlist him, Burke said that he was being enlisted to provide a “grassroots perspective” and “the working perspective” on the measure.

Pressed on whether Joe the Plumber has any particular claim to being a spokesperson on the issue, Burke replied that “he represents the American worker.”

Joe the Plumber may not represent the average worker — or at least not the average plumber. Remember that Joe never had a plumbing license, and many of the people in that profession are members of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA). UA political and legislative director Rick Terven responded to the latest news, saying, “Real plumbers want and need the Employee Free Choice Act as a way to empower themselves to join a union, without fear of intimidation or losing their jobs. Joe the Plumber doesn’t speak for real plumbers.”

Joe the wifebeating tax evading septic tank diving non-liscensed plumber (with 300,000 dollars of imaginary monopoly money obama is going to take 500 extra dollars of), was invited to speak in front of a large group of prominent conversatives recently. While there he felt the need to tell everyone in the room he was horny, classy guy that he is. Wonderful guest speaker for the party that claims to have a monopoly on decency and morality. Then again, when a drug addict is your parties leader and your supposed to be holier than thou, i suppose a walking social herpe like Joe is apropos. He was also a guest at a meeting of republican congressman recently. So apparently, alot of people on your teams cares about Joe the Dumber. One wonders why joe worries about how big his tax bill is going to be anyway, since he apparently doesnt even bother paying his taxes..

Fine, lets move away from tax evasion and call him Joe the unliscensed liar. The business the guy was “hypothetically” thinking about buying had never made even close to the 250,000$+ of profit that would get a little extra tax under obamas plan. Joe just deludedly made the number up in his head to try and make obama look stupid. Also, hes not liscensed to be a plumber in a state that requires plumbers to have liscenses..so hes basically a lying fraud, whose entire premise of being famous is a total falsehood..

But even then, you can leave it to the stupid trolls to say stuff that makes SamJoe look like a genius. How much of an idiot must one be to have missed the whole plan for Afghanistan? Here you go SamJoe, Jr.

The extra troops are going to Afghanistan to root out Bin Laden, Al Queda, and the Taliban. Just like President Obama has said he would do since before he announced his candidacy. It’s just another huge mess his predecessor left for him to clean up.

My guess is that the 17,000 are more a stabilizing force and may well, eventually, need reinforcements. On the other hand, If President Obama can negotiate genuine cooperation from Pakistan? It may not take an involvement on the scale of Iraq because it is a rather small group we’re after.

If our government can get the Pakistanis on our side, and we pare down our Wanted list, we could still get out without the horrors of full scale war. I’m pretty sure that we are no longer going to try and neutralize every member of every tribe who might have given a “bad guy” a meal.

Joe has found a horse he can ride. He rides for himself not for any group etc. He is paid for speaking for what is left of the GOP. And like Palin, he has no credentials, no education and no expertise to speak on any subject.

If he can draw a crowd he will speak. And if what is left of the Republican base thinks he is worth listening to, then it says much about where they are. An intellectual wasteland of ideas. He is a self serving, media creation. And if the media would ignore him, he would fade away. But they continue to invite comments by Bush,Cheney, Jindal, Palin, Huckabee, Rove, and the rest. All the has been’s.

Some day this GOP will writhe in humiliation in a backward glance at who they anointed. Joe is not an everyman. He is neither fish nor fowl. He was created by a shallow, media that trivializes even the most important news. This is why newspapers are failing. Because they have reduced themselves to trash news.

Joe mumbles and scratches his way though it all. Like the Tennessee Williams creation Stanley Kowalski.

  95. SKdeAnt says:

And of course, there is that old-fashioned concept of solidarity…

I am still waiting to hear why you would choose not to, so far you are just saying you don’t choose to. What is the downside, in your view, of joining the union? I am curious.

Joe isn’t a plumber, he only plays one on TV.

  104. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Well, if he’s not a real plumbr, but wants to pretend he is, mebbe we should just call him a plumber’s helper…

There’s not a difference between a union plumber and a nonunion plumber.
    _________

Some meaningful proof of this contention?
    _________

No difference at all. In fact, most nonunion plumbers get great benefits and pay and do a fantastic job.
    _________

    Again, some proof?

On the other hand, we DO KNOW that unions were instrumental in improving the lives of millions of workers in this country, including standardizing the 40 hr work week, better working conditions, stronger benefits and pensions.

Wherever there are unions, they raise the prevailing wages of non-union workers.

Funny how so many conservatives harken back to the Fifties as a better time in this country… a time when unions were far more powerful, and the top tax rates
were much higher… shucks ALL for that!!!

Joe should represent the hair stylist union.

  108. PoeBoy51 says:

Here’s another example of how one extreme is as bad as the other. Any of us who have worked in non-union shops, especially in an era of endemic cutbacks, can testify to how negative that can be. But what about “company unions” such as PSSU, the one to which I’m required to “donate” part of each paycheck… with them being able to increase my “fair share” if they deem necessary to defend against efforts at decertification. True “free choice” would say that workers have a right to organize, both to organize a union or to push out an ineffective union that fails to represent worker rights.

    AKSARBEN

Maybe all is well for him now, but what is his training? The UA provides all training to members, apprentices and journeymen.

Your husband’s pay and bennies are improved by the unions. Remember, the unions are the ones that brought you the weekend. Without us, you wouldn’t have any bennies.

What is the guarantee behind your husband’s bennies? Everything your family counts on is dependant on his boss. He goes out of business, you no longer have ANYTHING!

Other than that, I bet he is doing A O K! BTW, joe is not a plumber!

  111. flavorino says:

Originally Sammy told us he was going to buy a plumbing business….no wait that’s not true….no he’s a reporter…no wait he isn’t really….he’s an author..no that’s not working out……raising his son as his #1 priority……..then again maybe not, he’s never home.
This guy is a mentally deranged nutcase.
He has the attention span of a fruit fly.
What he isn’t, is the regular working stiff Joe that he pretends he is.
He can’t seem to hold a job.

When I think Union, I think Plumber. Even though I grew up in a non-union state, the way the Plumbers learned their trade was through the union journeyman route.

And Now “The Plumber” is coming out against unions.

Somehow I expect the unions will protest loudly.

Why are you for the free choice act?

  121. EugeneDebs says:

    aksarben60 Says:

You dont HAVE to do anything. I have a union job make a VERY good wage. Five weeks vacation a year. Excellent benifits health and dental and a pension that will pay me above the median wage in the country. In more than 30 years I have never once had to kiss anyones ass and have very good job security. If you can get all those things without a union good for you. Personally I think unions are pretty impressive.

  122. wals0809 says:

THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT IS JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR THE UNIONS TO RUIN THIS COUNTRY. There are many businesses that pay way over union wages and with the deception that I have had with union campaigns is unfair to the normal kid working his way though school. The people running the campaigns will say and do anything to get the kids to sign the cards. Secondly, promoting based off seniority, is horrible, you should be promoted based of merit…………AGAIN UNIONS RUINED THIS NATION JUST TAKE A LOOK AT the retail industry, how many unions stores are rated in the top 10 not a one…….

  123. EugeneDebs says:

    wals0809 Says:

No Unions didnt ruin this country greedy morons like YOU have caused this country great harm. WHAT MERIT. You mean promotions are given to the bosses nephew or whoever kisses ass the best. What a joke you are. The brainwashing has worked well on you but obviously the Alzheimers has taken its toll. UNIONS gave us the 40hr work week, the vacation, th end to child labor pensions vacations health benifits. The only reason wages are EVER higher than the lowest possible is because of the competition of UNIONS. Otherwise most corporations would pay minimum wage and make you buy whatever tools are necessary to do your job. You weasels that have chosen the path of asskissing just hate it that unions allow people to work WITHOUT having to kiss ass. Well have fun, pucker up, get way up there in the brown and I will keep my union job while laughing at morons like you.

  124. EugeneDebs says:

    sm0key1957 Says:

Why are you for the free choice act?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Because those who CREATE the wealth, that is the workers, DESERVE a fair share of the fruits OF that labor. Since the 80’s that hasnt happened. At the same time wages have been flat corporate profits have skyrocketed. That is as the increased productivity and profits created BY labor has increased labor itself is getting a smaller portion of that pie while those at the top have been taking a larger piece. UNIONS are labors ability to demand their fair share and power concedes NOTHING without a demand. As a larger portion of the workforce is union other businesses will be forced to pay higher wages or LOSE their workers to the better wages and benifits OF having a union job.

  129. EndZoner says:

Nobody in their right mind wants to see Sam the Sham on a jobsite. A) he is unlicensed B) he is unqualified C) He is not a plumber.

Today, when the economy is tanking, the corporations will continue to make golden parachutes for their execs out of the $$$ they save from cutting your pay and bennies. And the unions are the problem…

Remember, all these “exorbinant pay and benefit packages” that the union members have, the employers agreed to them! They liked the agreement enough to sign them.

  130. EugeneDebs says:

    libertyforever Says:

If unions are such a hot deal then why on earth would their numbers have been dropping for years?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

For a couple of reasons. First a well financed propaganda effort look into the Mohawk Valley Formula. Second an attack on our manufacturing sector starting with Reagan. Notice we hardly make anything anymore. Remember that ’service economy’? Reagan gave tax breaks for companies to move overseas to get rid of their unions.

  131. laworder says:

Get it in your heads right-wingers, this clown is not licensed, he is not a journeymen plumber which requires classroom studying and years of working with and learning from other journeymen.

HE is however, a fine representative of the republiscam party, a complete fraud. I would not trust this guy to flush my toilet, let alone enter my house and work on a plumbing problem.

I know what I’m talking about, I’m a Journeymen Lineman myself. My first year of classroom study, we started with 43 students. In the first two weeks, most of the potheads and illiterates voluntarily dropped out. At the semester break, our instructor (former journeymen himself) flunked out the remaining students who couldn’t cut it (guys like “joe the plumber”)

That year of studying and practical field work was as challenging, if not more, than any year in which I attended college and received my Bachelor’s Degree (3.33 GPA).

If you missed one day of class, you would find yourself in a deep hole because there was so much material to cover and study on the following day. If you missed 3 consecutive days of classroom study and field work…you were done and out of the program, there was just no way to catch up and graduate.

Our class graduated 9 future journeymen linemen. That’s 9 graduates out of 43. All 9 of us were employed within weeks of graduation, all of us have been hired by power companies, and each one of us are members of a union. We take pride in our work and are safe because there is no second chances when working with dangerous energized cables, underground and overhead. Union Journeymen linemen are the best in the business, best is proficiency, hardworking and above all safe. Independant contractors without unions have lower wages, crap for benefits and the most serious burns, injuries and fatalities in the electrical industry.

Do you understand this ditto heads? Joe couldn’t cut it, he failed, and that’s why he is not a licensed Journeymen.

  132. EdgeOnIt says:

Behind the scenes, plumbers are like any other persons. Lying about workers rights, has no obvious benefits for this unqualified imposter, and neither for our economy!!

  134. E Z Rider says:

“The public loves Joe the Plumber,” the spokesperson, Mary Ellen Burke, claimed to me. “They see him as a role model.”

Role Model you have got to be kidding, thats like saying that palen broad is intellegent.

He is only another shining example of what the republican part really is. A GREAT BIG NOTHING

  135. leneeg says:

Maybe it’s finally time to lay Joe the Plumber to rest. He’s had his fifteen seconds of fame and then some. He’s yesterday’s news. He’s obsolete. He’s passe. He’s, he’s, he’s….oh forget it. The End.
