Yesterday, ThinkProgress’s Amanda Terkel appeared on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olberman to respond to the conspiracy-laden smears that Bill O’Reilly has been launching of late. “First, it was NBC running ThinkProgress to belittle him,” Olbermann said. “Now it’s ThinkProgress running NBC. And both us being run by Barack Obama.” Terkel responded, “For the record, there are no ties between NBC and ThinkProgress.” She added:
Bill O’Reilly needs to really take a long look in the mirror. He said that paparazzi are the scum of the Earth, and Americans are entitled to their right to privacy. But evidently, that only applies if you agree with Bill O’Reilly. If you don’t agree with Bill O’Reilly, it’s okay to be followed and harassed while you’re on vacation or to have his henchman accost you in your own garage. So it’s only if you agree with him you get those rights.
Watch it:
Several advertisers have responded to our Stop The O’Reilly Harassment Machine campaign. Join the campaign here.
Another excellent exchange — calm, informed, intelligent.
And now, how ’bout those who visit ThinkProgress think about making a donation to the “It Happened to Alexa” foundation?
Just a thought.

Well yes, BillO, because as you and your ilk demonstrate all the time, money is the only thing that speaks to you. Got a pesky sexual harassment suit? Settle it with millions of dollars!
And to set the record straight, TP is not calling for a boycott of BillO’s sponsors. They are simply asking them if they support BillO’s stalking techniques. The boycott is secondary, but useful.

Both headed the President elect’s transition team. Only Ken sat on the Board of Fannie Mae and was paid over $1.8 million for regulatory consultation during the Bush years. That’s on top of his board compensation.
Does any Republican mention this? Of course not. Duberstein (R) is untouchable.

No, I’m not a troll. Posted hear for years as Marcus Aurelius, but I stopped commenting/visiting frequently as the topics got stale (as is the constant outrage over O’Reilly, the Village Idiot). My post clearly said ‘OT’ at the top. I think the link I posted was important from a perspective of Progressive politics, and that such shenanigans as are far from what we (many of us) expected from Obama.
That said, I have to remind you that adherence to dogma and an unwillingness to question the leadership of the person you elected were hallmarks of the Republicans during the Bushco reign, and that such blind adherence (and willingness to attack anyone who dared break ranks was fodder for many of the commenters, here).
Think like us, or you’re not welcome here? Tres Republican, and not at all progressive.

Now O’Reilly will know that it is a huge conspiracy and we mount coordinated attacks on his petty little world.
March 27th, 2009 at 10:41 amThe appeals to O’Reilly’s advertisers are missing the mark if their responses simply address O’Reilly’s ‘views and opinions’. This effort needs to clarify that it has nothing to do with his views/opinions, but instead is focused on his tactics. Unless the focus is sharpened, their boilerplate responses of ‘not endorsing his views/opinions’ will appear to hold water and make this effort appear as an attempt to stifle O’Reilly’s right to free speech.

Bill O’Reilly is a HYPOCRITE, bigot and sexual harasser. He claims to be in support of women’s rights and against PAPARAZZI yet O’Reilly sends out his GOON SQUAD (assistants) to STALK and harass journalists.

There is no evidence that Faux has taken any action against O’Reilly.

March 27th, 2009 at 12:01 pmI’m trying to be objective about this. O’Reilly is on the wrong side of this. The stalking should stop. This tactic is just objectionable.
Terkel did a fantastic job on Olbermann. If O’Reilly were smart he’d give up the stalking, and try to tone down the rhetoric in regards to TP. He’s got more to lose and Terkel is right. He’s in jeopardy of losing some people that may agree with him ideologically over the tirade and the stalking.
O’Reilly isn’t doing a great job of communicating it, but he’s got a point with coordination between NBC and ThinkProgress. If you watch the Olbermann piece, he makes the case that O’Reilly’s sponsors are reviewing their sponsorship and he sources ThinkProgress. Additionally, threads here have often used Olbermann or Maddow and others from NBC for material. I think there is kind of a coordination, or at least a common purpose and cooperation.
And O’Reilly’s point that Podesta has access to Obama is not that radical an idea.
Podesta is obviously tied to ThinkProgress and has had influence with Obama though his position as transition co-chair:

March 27th, 2009 at 12:50 pmThe Alexa Foundation won’t get a dime of my hard-earned liberal dollars until they remove O’Reilly’s picture from their home page and make a statement saying they disavow him.

LET’S KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!
Hi.
Well, Bill talks a lot about the paparazzis and how they ruin the celebrities private lives, and at the same time he stalks or jumps people that don’t want to deal with him.
He talks in an arrogant way about pregnant teenagers, but doesn’t react the same way when is Piper Palin.
He seams to love the ladies attention. And he is definitely the kind of man that plays the father figure seductive role. That brings me to his attitude towards teachers – he brags a lot about his teaching days -and adults caught up with younger lovers. And what about child abusers!
He already had a fling with a younger woman under his control.
I don’t know, but if he is “projecting”, he most have a big dark side, a huge secret lingering…
Lets stay tuned…

Wow, I didn’t know that site existed. Same font and everything. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, that’s still scary and nuts. XoD
March 28th, 2009 at 1:44 amI’m glad Olbermann is keeping with this. From the short clip of the ambush… I think it would be helpful to have an expert in security and self-defense examine this. What I observed – before the “interview” engaged – might well be a determined “team stalking” tactic, as henchman # 2 positioned himself behind Ms. Terkel for a few moments. That way, if she turns around in an attempt to escape one big threatening guy, she bumps right into another who cuts off her escape. He, of course, can always claim, “I was just standing there; she bumped into me.” I suspect the raptors portrayed in Jurassic Park were well-versed in this tactic, too.
