Since the launch of our Stop Supporting The O’Reilly Harassment Machine campaign on Wednesday afternoon, more than 10,000 of you have taken action. Thank you for all your support! In just two days, here are all the successes we’ve had:
– UPS announced it will no longer advertise on The Factor.
– Capital One expressed “regret” for O’Reilly’s insensitivity and explained that it does not endorse his views.
– A Ford spokesman candidly told us that he agreed with us about the “rantings of the hopelessly pig-headed Mr. O’Reilly.” (Ford then clarified that the statement did not speak for the company.)
– AT&T said it makes “every effort” to ensure their advertisers are in keeping with the company’s “corporate values and philosophy,” but it would not say whether O’Reilly’s show was in keeping with that philosophy.
– Bill O’Reilly lashed out at us, calling us “insects.”
– Amanda appeared on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann to discuss the campaign.
Let’s urge more companies to follow the lead of UPS. Please join our campaign.

All cable companies have MSNBC in their premium lineup (meaning you have to pay more to get that channel) and all cable companies have Fox in their regular lineup. Ergo, there are a lot more people who can get Fox than can get MSNBC. Plus, Keith frequently bests Billo in the coveted 25-50 year old age bracket. Most of Billo’s viewers are going to be dead within the next 5-10 years and he’s not picking up new young viewers.
So, brag all you want that Billo has more viewers than Olberman, but all it means is that there are more people who have Fox available than MSNBC and it’s not a level playing field.
That’s probably too wonky of an answer for most of Billo’s zombie trolls to understand.

The evidence for Bill0’s malicious slander is abundant in the public domain as are articles and broadcasts demonstrating that none of those slandered ever suggested taking any sort of punitive action against Bill0, the Foundation, or anyone else.

I guess what is bothering me is that in this country now we do not or can not allow opposing views. We’ve gone from the right to the left but with similar actions. The way I handle opposing views are to study them to see if they hold any merit. I do not know everything and as such have to see things from different angles before I can make up my mind. I do not follow the left or right but seem to find that the most logical position to be in the middle. So if one side or the other silences the opposing view then it becomes harder to see.
Just my opinion.

No geese today, dbadass. I enjoyed the extra two hours of uninterrupted sleep.Things have turned cold and dry around here, letting the local rivers subside and putting things on hold. They haven’t been so fortunate to the North.
Oh yeah, I did see a flock of cormorants. Basically anything that takes advantage of winter kill at ice out is plentiful. Herons, bitterns, and mergansers are moving through. I might have to take advantage of a nice day to see if the local troop of green herons are building nests yet.

No. Actually I grew up in a small town, sounds alot like the one your in now. It only had one light and it blinked yellow. The center of town was a gas station, a general store that had a lunch counter in it and a pharmacy with a soda bar.
With all my moves around the country I somehow ended up in L.A. What a nightmare. Other than the weather there really isn’t anything here worth recommending to anyone. If our business wasn’t here we’d move as fast as we could.
My sister though, has a home next to a lighthouse way up north. Some day I’ll sell this business and get out of here.

The bay areas great. I go up to Berkely a few times a year to visit relatives. It’s sooooo much nicer than here.
I used to walk a mile to go fishing and the local clay banks had huge snappers and snakes, but to a kid, “who cares?” We swam there almost every day.

There’s been a drastic drop in insects, including dragonflies, who have long carnivorous, aquatic nymph stages in many parts of the world. Here in Minnesota it’s being attributed to the same agricultural chemicals that are causing deformities and population crashes among frogs and salamanders and other pollution.

Please if you read this and feel so inclined, send UPS a supportive thank you email to let them know they made the right decision. I am sure the O’Reilly fans are going to be sending them negative emails in bulk.

If Bill O’Reilly truly is a hero that speaks to Americans, then he can do it without the support of “corporate America”.
What some people are forgetting is that we are protesting the nonsensical media blitzkriegs that Bill is unleashing on people. For me, O’Reilly can say whatever he wants to say about liberals, Democrats, and progressives, because he has been given the freedom to express his own beliefs.
However, his tactics violate the rights of those who are trying to express the same freedom of speech. Stalking, bum-rush interviews, and paparazzi strategies are essentially ways for O’Reilly to dictate the media in his own terms, and some day someone is going to get hurt from these tactics, whether it be the interviewee or O’Reilly’s producers themselves.

Your company should reconsider its stance. This call upon O’Reilly’s sponsors to sever their relationship with O’Reilly is not about anything O’Reilly said, it’s about what he and his staff members did. It isn’t about the content of their speech, it’s about the morality of their actions. On dozens of occasions, they have stalked people who have said unfavorable things about O’Reilly in order to ambush them for an interview and attack them with lies and innuendo. Amanda Terkel is not a “public figure”, and Bill O’Reilly is not a journalist (which he has said many times).
If your company thinks this is a “First Amendment” issue (either free speech or free press), then your company does not understand what’s been happening here.

You do realize that the ’standard’ that we’re applying here is the ’standard’ of using legitimate interview procedures, i.e., inviting someone on your show for a civil discussion, as opposed to physically stalking and ambushing that someone. If you can come up with an instance where Olbermann or Maddow staked out someone’s apartment, followed them out-of-state for two hours, then leapt of their van to shove a microphone in someone’s face, THEN we can discuss “applying the same standard.”

The point is to give my opinion of a large company pulling its AD money, which they have a right to do, and use a particular piece done on the show to justify it. Also suspecting that UPS may also be looking to cut its AD budget and using this issue as a means to do it.
Also, Olberman and Maddow are NOT journalists either. Both are mouths for Obama and NBC, just like O’Reilly is for Fox.

But, of course, this wasn’t what they were trying to get away with saying in the fist place, or they would say it that way.
What they are trying to do with this tactic is to get people to accept O’Reilly and Hannity with being equal, in every way, to Olbermann and Maddow. One key difference between the MSNBC people in question and the FNC people in question, is that the MSNBC people give their audience the truth while the FNC people in question tell their viewers lies, distortions, half-truths and flat-out wingnuttery. We have repeatedly asked you to provide any evidence at all, even a single example, of Olbermann or Maddow having someone stalked just to get an ambush interview with them.
And when 60 Minutes went after someone this way, they were usually going after a bad person, or a public figure who refused to do an interview with them. Plus they were actual journalists performing a journalistic function. O’Reilly is just a bully trying to intimidate people, and has absolutely no journalism credentials to back up his methods.

A lot of contradiction in there but I get your point. At least you took the time to put your rebuttal in a concise manner, not like most of the rest here.
O’Reilly does the same type commentary and yes I have never seen an instance of where Olberman or Maddow have tried to get an interview from a person on the street of interest. I never compared the tactic used by MANY to get interviews to Olberman and Maddow TO O’Reilly. You misunderstood that.
There is no difference in the way Olberman, Maddow or O’Reilly give their opinions. That’s what they are, THEIR opinions and neither of them have anymore journalism creditials than O’Reilly.
While I would agree that 60 Minutes is a totally different animal than anything Fox or MSNBC has, they have used the same tactic of trying to get interviews with various individuals. Same tactic, different reason.

I will agree with you that Olbermann is doing little more than giving his side an outlet to speak their peace and taunting the other side. That is certain. He is not providing new news as much as he is providing a review of the day’s political bullet points.
I will admit that much. However…
There is a distinct factor that differs between the two mouthpieces; O’Reilly is sending out people to stalk the other side. Has there been any case whatsoever that Olbermann has sent out his goons to stalk a right-wing figure? Has there been anyone at MSNBC that has done this?
And that is what we are asking from you, SR. Give us an indication where Olbermann or Maddow has sent a producer to stalk someone for information. Really. That’s what is getting under our skin. That alone.
That is why Olbermann and O’Reilly are not the exact same person. Olbermann would not stoop to something so low that it would endanger people. One of these days, O’Reilly’s producers are going to hurt someone or get hurt themselves, and if O’Reilly doesn’t understand that, he should get out of the business.

Wrong, there is a huge difference between O’Reilly and Olberman. The difference is that Olberman does not lie to get his point across, he does not threaten people and say that someone should execute them, and he doesn’t stalk people in order to try to get some kind of a “gotcha” interview.
Olberman has O’Reilly on his show almost on a daily basis exposing his lies and the hateful things he says. Don’t you find it funny that O’Reilly doesn’t have Olberman on his show daily exposing him for whatever he wants to expose him for? The reason why O’Reilly doesn’t do that is because Olberman doesn’t lie, say hateful things about victims or stalk people.
