Since they couldn’t have Palin, congressional GOP turn to their second choice: Newt Gingrich.

ap03040601408.jpg Earlier this month, the top congressional GOP fundraising committees — the NRSC and the NRCC — issued a joint press release announcing that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) would deliver the keynote address at their annual fundraising dinner. However, Palin’s staff quickly quashed the excitement, saying that “[e]nthusiasm during a scheduling meeting…was misinterpreted as a confirmation of attendance.” Embarrassed, Republicans began trashing the governor. “She was a disaster,” said one Republican source. “We had confirmation.” The GOP has now turned to its second choice — former House speaker Newt Gingrich. The Wall Street Journal reports that Gingrich has agreed to “speak in her place.”

  4. fire _ant_chavis says:

Wow, the saga continues…LOL Palin is basically snubbing the GOP since they threw her a$$ up under the bus after losing the ‘08 election! The GOP is like a chicken running around with it’s head chopped off! No new ideas, no forward thinking and no real budget plans! Palin may be trying to distance herself as well – not that it’s going to help her much.

And I guess lolpublicans has dug much deeper in bottom of the barrel to get Newt. Is El Rushbo going to be their third choice or is Britney Cantor available?

    – - What, no Joe The Plumber? Rushbo? Michael Steele? Maybe the GOP should just dig up Ronald Reagan and prop his remains in front of a podium.

whhhy of course he did… go, newt, go.

btw – my congressman, IL 19th, john shitkus, made keith’s WORST PERSON tonight… and rachel took a quick swipe at the idjit too…

    … so embarrassing…

Palin or Newty? Palin or Newty? That’s like choosing between cancer and heart disease–salmonella and avian flu. What would you prefer, a bad-tempered camel in your bed or an angry Mexican bull on your sofa–a water moccasin in your toilet or a rattlesnake under your pillow?

Hey, Republicans. Just think for a minute. You could be Dems. It would be OK. Just make the call.

  10. bonat says:

Palin is a hypocrite and Newt well…..

It just goes to show how screwed up the GOP is. They are not appealing to the young GOP or even the moderate GOP. I’m so glad I switch and left the GOP 3 years ago to become an Independent. I was not happy with the direction the GOP is moving in. Where are the up and coming GOP? I’m tired of looking at all these old gray haired men who have no idea on how to fix any of this? And Jindal is not the answer.

Gingrich and Palin deserve each other—two media whores.

In other news: in the NY-20th District: Tedisco (R) is leading by about 1,000 votes–it is too close to call. Doesn’t look good to me….Hail Mary time.

The Republican 2012 candidate for President is Grand Poobah Rush Limbaugh so why wasn’t he chosen? Republican Economic Adviser Joe the Plummer isn’t busy and he could use the extra cash. Congressman Eric Cantor is to busy kissing his signed picture of Britney Spears and John Boehner is at the bar and later the tanning salon.

The Republicans are in serious trouble.

1.)They have to take ownership for the Bush Administration.
actions. They were there the whole time.
2.)They owe this country some real ideas to but on the
table and they have to negotiate.
    3.)They need a leader!!!!
4.)They have to drop the buffoon act. It is getting old.

I saw a picture of William F. Buckley today. I didn’t agree with him very much, but he knew how to present an argument. It is comfortable thing to admire and like the opposing side. This bunch of wingnuts, there isn’t much to like or admire.

P.S. The country needs a real Republican party, not a bunch of ditto head losers.

  17. Arctic Ghetto says:

At least they got a hound dog that can bark in full sentences. Those who have the goods on Gingrich are his fellow Republicans. He is their eunuch that howls by the palace. Those I have talked to who know Sarah say “Sarah is Sarah” the way one refers to a goofy friend.

I wonder how good Tina Fey’s impression of Newt is?

And isn’t it about time for Newt to leave his wife again for a younger new wife? Only then will he be qualified to be the presidential candidate on the Rushpublican ticket…

The disgraced, run out of town former Republican House Speaker is a great replacement for the disgraceful, out=of-touch dullard Republican Governor. The GOP get what they deserve.

Second I cant even comprehend how anyone with at least a high school diploma can possibly believe anything that comes out of Fox news or Oreilly`s mouth. Its the twenty first century you can find just about anything on the net. So i challenge you please find something to prove that miss Terkel insulted rape victims. While your at it give us a link showing where olbermann makes things up about Oreilly.

  56. bigtoyz says:

So Amanda why don’t you run for office? You fit the mold for a limp wristed lib. You shrink at the sight of a camera, you get all beady eyed when light shines on you. You whine like the spoiled little brat that you are when you are exposed. Yes, you’d make a perfect candidate for the Socialist party of America!

  57. Eugene atrax robustus Debs says:

    bigtoyz Says:

  64. Above the Clouds says:

What kind of loser comes to a Liberal blog to defend the “honor” of a disgraced clown like Gingrich? And the GOP are wondering why people are leaving their party in droves.

  65. Dabb says:

Seems that everything Sarah Palin says or agrees to ends up being “misinterpreted”. This gal needs serious therapy.

  66. Xisithrus, Hemiptera says:

Wait. Didnt Dubya say he saved the free market with a socialist bailout? No wonder he got beady eyes, right bigtoyz?

And Paulson, claims he, uber capitalist millionaire, saved the economy with a taxpayer bailout..

Same goes for ‘Mr Free market’ Greenspan.

  67. Pennsylvanianne says:

    bigtoyz says:
You shrink at the sight of a camera.

Uh, no. Amanda Terkel, 5 feet tall, was shrinking at the sight of two large male strangers, each at least a head taller and outweighing her by more than 60 pounds each, accosting her on a public street. Since you’re a guy with allegedly “big toys” (yeah, right), you just don’t get how small women might feel physically intimidated when a man (in this case, TWO)tries to intimidate her. And have you ever been suddenly interviewed on camera? I think not. Who would ever ask for your opinion on anything?

  68. P.D. says:

Why don’t the Repugs get that young boy who set the C-pac audience on fire? I mean, anyone is better than Newt or Sarah.

  69. ljm says:
