Last night, The Wonk Room’s Matt Duss appeared as a guest on The Rachel Maddow show to discuss the emergence of the Foreign Policy Initiative, the neo-neocon think tank (aka PNAC 2.0). Yesterday, Duss attended FPI’s inaugural conference on Afghanistan, commenting that he was “struck by how very little that was said was controversial.” Last night, Maddow noted that Bill Kristol, one of the FPI’s founders, famously declared in Nov. 2001 that the “end game seems to be in sight” in Afghanistan. Duss revealed that yesterday’s neocon gathering was highlighted by one particular attendee:
MADDOW: Did you have any neocon celebrity sightings today?
DUSS: Oh yeah. It was kind of a reunion of John McCain’s presidential campaign. But I also saw Scooter Libby.
MADDOW: Oh, no way!
DUSS: Yeah, he came out for that to shake hands and see the people.
MADDOW: Yeah, I forget he’s not in prison.
Watch it:
MADDOW: Yeah, I forget [Libby's] not in prison.
Ya gotta love Rachel!
PEACE

well… imo… but i wouldn’t doubt it factually…
April 1st, 2009 at 11:12 amShe is so funny. Just got to love Rachel. She makes me laugh my a$$ off some times. But hits most subjects so hard, she shows light on the darkness!!!!
April 1st, 2009 at 11:14 amThe Foreign Policy Initiative, huh?
And its going to be a “nonprofit” entity. (And thus available for taxpayer/tax exempt funds?) They have a website and everything, and conveniently located in Washington, DC. The staff director is Jamie M. Fly (not to be confused with the McFly’s of Back to the Future fame).
And a board of dirctores make up of Billy Krystal, Robert Kagan, and Dan Senor. I wonder how much $$ they will get from the “FPI” for their half-baked and often erroneous opinions?
April 1st, 2009 at 11:17 amMADDOW: Yeah, I forget he’s not in prison.
More evidence to support my premise that there is no rule of law in the United States. The laws are made by the rich and powerful but they only have to be obeyed by the poor and weak.
Why should anyone in America feel obliged to obey the law?

April 1st, 2009 at 11:24 amI, too, keep forgetting Scooter Libby isn’t in jail…Why was Cheney so exorcised about him getting pardoned then?
April 1st, 2009 at 11:27 amMADDOW: Yeah, I forget he’s not in prison.
AHAHAHAHA! That was too funny! I look forward to the day when they all are on trial for war crimes!
April 1st, 2009 at 11:33 amAfter reading this and the above post on Michael Steele,

Duss is great!
His truthfulness brings joy to my heart.
April 1st, 2009 at 1:16 pmTo hell with Scooter Libby, Grover Norquist needs to be rounded up and burned at the stake. For some reason these guys seem to carry forth whatever Grover thinks is best.
April 1st, 2009 at 2:11 pmI wonder why cheney isn’t an executive member of this club! Or is he? Gotta watch that cheney like a hawk now. The public should put together a massive data base on cheney and there should be volunteer ‘around the clock’ monitoring of his movements until we know what he is up to with his death squads and ‘left behinds’ and moles and black ops. You can’t be too careful with this guy. Better safe than sorry im afraid, even at the expense of a little embarrasment. Like Turly said, that day must come.
April 1st, 2009 at 6:26 pmYep I bet they were real excited to shake hands with someone that lied and help cover up an act of treason cause thats the rethuglican way
April 1st, 2009 at 7:00 pmI had been hoping I wasn’t the only one who noticed that Scooter Libby was transferred immediately, passed go-to-jail from Chaney’s office to a right wing think tank at $165,000 a year where he’s been laboring poor guy all this time.
The newspaper blackout is as serious as anything that happened in Germany preceding the nazi takeover. The harm done by levered up M&A deals has robbed our excess production with consequences beyond even the money they’ve looted. The financial sector/corporate/right wing slob criminal apparatchiks have robbed us of information that only a robust journalistic industry provides and replaced it with corporate sponsored seriously disturbed dominance freaks led by the likes of O’Reilly.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:53 pmBe aware everyone! These “World Domination” Neo-Nitwits will never give it up. They live in a fantasy world where they are “All Knowing” and their little dreams of megalamania dance around their heads like sugar-plums ever night as they go to sleep.
Be aware, be very aware. The Neo-Nitwits aren’t going away.
“There are a lot of people who lie and get away with it, and that’s just a fact.” – Donald Rumsfeld – Neo-Nitwit, He would know…
