Perhaps Barton should be referred to as “Joe the Bullshiter” as well.

Barton Family Foundation referred to above is a charity established Joe Barton to provide support to “select charitable organizations within Texas’s 6th Congressional District.” As mentioned, his daughter-in-law, Amy Barton, is the Foundation’s Executive Director.

But it seems as though his family is on the “payroll” in other positions the congressman has set up. For instance the Citizens for Ethics reported that Barton paid his wife Terri $57,759 in salary and bonuses, from his campaign funds in the 2006 election for serving as the campaign’s outreach director and planned fundraising and special events. Also, Barton’s daughter Kristin was paid $12,622 in salary and bonuses. Even his mother, Nell Barton, was paid $7,000 for a car.

Perhaps “Joe the Sleazebag” might be an even more appropriate name?

Joe seems to think his job is serving big oil and not his constituents…
