Remember, Puritans were part of the founding of this country and we are still haunted by their anxiety over sexuality. Puritans/Calvanists emphasize the fall of man and are very much concerned with policing behavior, particularly sexual behavior.

Why is it that so many commenters assume that homophobia is a product of repressed homosexuality? O’Reilly is also a misogynist; does this mean he’s a repressed transexual? Not all homophobes are Ted Haggard, but are honestly hateful or fearful people.

A lot of comments like “he’s a closet case” have an underlying message that there is something wrong with being gay.

Well, there’s nothing at all wrong with being gay – just with being closeted and with trying to make other people think there is something wrong wqith it, to cover your gay a$$. And in my opinion, that is Bill. My gadar goes off into the red zone whenever I see or hear him. His horrible mysogyny is becasue it’s the only way he knows how to relate to women, since he doesn’t truly desire them.
