Cheney planning to skip Bush administration reunion next week.

cheneybush9812.jpgThe New York Times reports that roughly 20 Bush administration all-stars — including Condoleezza Rice, Karen Hughes, and Dan Bartlett — are getting together next week for their first Bush administration reunion. “On tap is a dinner with the former president” and a brainstorming session for the George W. Bush Policy Institute. The man who largely crafted Bush’s presidency, however, will not be at the party:

Not coming to next week’s session is former Vice President Dick Cheney, who in the final days of the administration argued with Mr. Bush about his failure to pardon Mr. Cheney’s former chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., who was convicted of perjury and other counts for his role in the leak of Valerie Wilson’s employment with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Cheney also broke with the President on a same-sex marriage ban, firing Donald Rumsfeld, overturning Washington DC’s gun ban, and removing North Korea from the list of state sponsors of terror.

Why on earth would Cheney feel any need at all to lend his (alleged) gravitas to his little puppet Chimperor now that his reign is over…?

  2. obama-biden2009 says:

He will be in Jail instead, I hope.

  3. Doodlebug Shayne says:

    “20 Bush administration all-stars”

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA … priceless.

  4. obama-biden2009 says:

Can we send the new DOJ to this event and make some arrests? Oh, that’s right, Obama wants them to be free.

  5. pastcaring ceratopogonidae says:

too much good stuff…where to start?
    Ok…

brainstorming session for the George W. Bush Policy Institute.

…Well that should take about 20 to 30 minutes tops!

20 Admin All Stars?!?….Great, nothing more convenient than a mass arrest..Kill 20 birds with one stone…

oooh…too bad Cheney won’t be there because every party needs a pooper.

  6. tombaker says:

Dick was arrogant (and naive) enough to believe The Scion of Bushco, Inc. would actually “owe” him something once his useful purpose had been served.

Deep down in the heart of every righty there lives a wildly insecure and neglected child, desperate for attention and affection.

  7. Ape-Man says:

Cheney got Libby into a heap of trouble, but i have a feeling there’s a lot more trouble coming for Cheney.

  8. pastcaring ceratopogonidae says:

BTW…great photo…Cheney looks like he hated Bush as much as I did.

    :]

  9. Wayne Ant Schneider says:

Don’t you usually wait, like, a year before having a “reunion”? These guys have been out of office, what, three months? Are they so frightened now that they can’t be without each other’s company for such a short period of time?

If it weren’t for the damage they did to our country, I could almost pity them.

  10. Ape-Man says:

Aren’t we lucky there’s only a very few people like Cheney on the planet. Our responibility is to never let this kind of person leverage such power ever again. I didn’t believe it could happen but it did.

  11. Wayne Ant Schneider says:

BTW…great photo…Cheney looks like he hated Bush as much as I did.

That or he’s about to nod off again.

  12. hanshiro the antlion says:

Fear not, for as with any meeting of Death Eaters, Voldemort’s presence will be felt…

    Sorry O.T
    Speaking of invitations…

First, the (R)eligious (R)ight was up in arms about Obama being invited to speak at Notre Dame
… Now, ASU refuses to grant an honorary degree to Obama.

This is far more than just about politics, people.

  16. Purple State says:

My guess is that Cheney hasn’t found anyone to push his wheelchair that far.

  17. MapleStreet says:

Quick. Tell the Hague where these war criminals are congregating for easy pickup !!!!!

And a spat between Bush and Cheney – that would make a great Fox reality show.

  18. MapleStreet says:

Would just love to reminisce with them:

Hey Condi, remember the screams of that ’spic as we waterboarded him ? How did you like the mix tape I send you ?

  19. Buckie Boy says:

Is Jeff Gannon going to be there for some more “Over Nite Stays”?

I bet Rove is very excited about that.

  20. Laszlo Panaflex says:

Bushie was the Bubble Boy, but Cheney has isolated himself in a bunker. The Island of Dr. Morose. Holed up watching Beck and Hannity, shaking his fist at footage of Obama’s rapprochement with Europe, steaming with rage as his gulag is dismantled. A contemptuous curmudgeon wallowing in anger and self-righteousness. He never had any use for the PR side of the operation, so he can blow the rest off for good now.

  21. Megaloptera McWars says:

I can recall (through TP?) that Bush was reluctant to take up the marriage amendment, but did so because 2006 was an election year and the GOP needed him to force-feed a wedge issue.

  22. fire _ant_chavis says:

Well, Dumbya Bush hasn’t been out of office for 3 months and he’s already having a reunion?! What will they talk about? How they almost allowed the world economy to become bankrupt? How they started 2 wars? How Bush stole 2 elections? What in the world will be discussed??

Good pic of Cheney – gives us a real view of his hateful nature.

TP keep up the good work you guys are much more than just a blog – you bring the news! Again, many thanks!

  23. tombaker says:

Wayne – I’m pretty sure that’s his happy face.

  24. Bluestocking says:

The Bush administration has barely been out of power for three months…and yet many of the players already feel the need to have a reunion???

Am I the only person who thinks that this is a rather pitiful commentary on what these people’s lives must be like?

Perhaps they should start a support group or something — because I can think of no clearer sign that these people need to start moving on…

  25. Jackie says:

Let’s see if the same Bush loyalist come to support him at his War Crimes trial. This group is now being seen for who they really are the Axis of Evil. Yes we know about the torture and secret prisons that all lied about during the 8 year crime spree. When future terrorist use the Bush Policy all this friends can say they did their part too. Yes when American men/woman/children are kidnapped, tortured, raped, murdered and held for years without charges let’s see what the same group have to say. Doug Feith was so proud to be a Bushie he spoke out about it on even TV Station and how it was he who developed the Torture Plan. Now Spain has charged him with his crime he’s blaming the Bush Administration.

Cheney could care less about Libby and anyone else who did his dirty work. When will people finally understand Cheney was put in office for Big Business and Halliburton. Enron, Halliburton, Black Water and others were his interest. Iraq was only invaded for oil and Afghanistan for the pipeline. All this time Americans listen as the Bush Administration called Iran the Axis of Evil. While Cheney was working with Iran on the Oil deals with Halliburton and Bush used Iran and Syria to hold kidnapped detainees. Yes the GOP got a good laugh making fools of Americans while holding up God’s name to lead the way. Satan really knows how to pick his followers and I must say it worked well just as it did when the Christians cheered kill Jesus.

  26. dbearton says:

Cheney should skip the reunion because the Criminal Cheney should be sent to prison for treason and war crimes.

  27. sscncturn64 says:

I think Cheney is looking at Bush in disgust because when he asked Bush to pardon Libby, Bush went ahead and pardon a shtload of canned vegetables.

  28. fire _ant_chavis says:

Maybe they’re meeting to discuss how they’re going to save themselves from prosecution and jail?

  29. www.fikrinne.blogspot.com says:

BTW…great photo…Cheney looks like he hated Bush as much as I did.

That or he’s about to nod off again.

  30. Hoodathunktick says:

They better get in all the reunions they can, while they can.

  31. KayInMaine says:

Dick Cheney was the real president, so I’m sure he’s pissed that he wasn’t the one to schedule the meeting. He’s having a temper tantrum now.

And wouldn’t it be ironic if Dick Cheney said when he got the invitation, “I’m not hanging out with a bunch of war criminals!”?

Man, that would be ironic for sure.

    gawd… you don’t need a thousand words to tell THAT picture’s story…

  36. katydid says:

“Because President Obama’s body of work is yet to come, it’s inappropriate to recognize him at this time,” said University spokeswoman Sharon Keeler, as reported by the ASU State Press.

Keeler said ASU only awards honorary degrees to “someone who’s really outstanding, who has made outstanding contributions in their field.”

fer crissakes! even disregarding all that went before, a black man as president of the USA?!!! that ain’t enough???!!!

just imagine what that “body of work is yet to come” will be!

  37. Ape-Man says:

Cheney should probably skip just about everything now.

  41. wisdomofwords says:

“and a brainstorming session for the George W. Bush Policy Institute”.
Seems about eight years late for that.

  42. AlexLawyer says:

Brainstorming by Bush et al.? Now that’s a tempest in a thimble.

  43. bonat says:

“brainstorming session for the George W. Bush Policy Institute.”
Is Bush still in the “Twilight Zone”, funny how they changed the name and eliminated “Truth and Freedom” from the original title.

Can’t wait to see what lies Bush puts into his library at SMU in Texas?

AG Holder is there anyway Cheney has broken any laws under the (un)Patriot Act?

    UNBELIEVABLE

  44. bonat says:

as they would say this is where the plot thickens.

  45. curious says:

Of course Cheney broke with him on several issues. His daughter is gay so he broke on same sex marriage. As for the other things. Bush was able to break with Cheney because he didn’t need him anymore. Cheney was more hated then Bush himself. Hard to believe it, but true. And there would be no re-election, and the tenure was just about over.

  46. jb says:

Maybe he is getting his phony exo-skeleton refitted, or perhaps he has a reading of the last rites arranged.

  47. Ape-Man says:

Is Cheney deep inside an undisclosed fortress planning his comeback?

  48. Wang111 says:

Condoleezza Rice is quite a character. Rice is prepared to humiliate and embarrass and degrade herself by attending the reunion relative to Bush despite the fact that Bush murdered a black woman (Margie Schoedinger) and despite the fact that Bush hates black people (indicated below). There is something wrong with Rice.

On balance, George W. Bush hates black people (indicated at http://andrewyu-jenwang.blogspot.com/2008/12/andrew-yu-jen-wang-responds-to-stokely.html George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people”).

“Who is Margie Schoedinger? A MUST READ! Woman had a law suit against then, Texas Governor George W Bush for rape and kidnapping. She turned up murdered” (Retrieved November 29, 2008, from http://www.spirituallysmart.com/bush.html).

Everybody should know that Margie Schoedinger was an African-American woman who was murdered by George W. Bush.

“One of those very least were George Bush’s personal complicity in the death (murder to be precise) of my friend Margie Schoedinger in September of 2003. Determining the exact whereabouts and contacts of [then] president-elect George Bush on September 21 thru 22, 2003, should be entirely lacking in difficulty” (Leola McConnell (Nevada Progressive Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010). Retrieved November 29, 2008, from http://leolaforussenate.blogspot.com/2008/02/leola-mcconnell-for-us-senate.html).

George W. Bush should come forward and confess that he murdered an African-American woman—Margie Schoedinger.

“Who Killed Margie Schoedinger? . . . The Schoedinger death is just the latest in a string of strange ones surrounding the Bush family – Bush biographer J.H. Hatfield, Sen. Paul Wellstone, Sen. Mel Carnahan, and others that are detailed on various sites” (Ruffhowse. Retrieved November 29, 2008, from http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104×2802130).

George W. Bush must repent relative to his murder of an African-American woman—Margie Schoedinger.

  49. sacopenapa says:

What a pitty… the chance to arrest them all in one go…

  50. Wiz says:

I bet Bush is glad his term is over, now he doesn’t have to worry about Cheney’s murder squads anymore, or does he?

  51. freedomrings says:

He’s a smart old fox….a Bush reunion would be the perfect place to round them all up and “render” them to the Hague for war crimes (after sufficient waterboarding of course, after all, it’s not really torture according to them)…Cheney’s bright enough to stay away. Anyhow, he’s probably busy figuring out how he can steal the most out of Iraq for his friends at Halliburton now that there’s a new puppetmaster.

  52. Helen Rainier says:

Oh shucky darn — did Dickie and Georgie have a lover’s spat?

  53. DallasNE says:

For once I agree with Cheney. I wouldn’t go to a dismal event like that either.

  54. majii says:

    It’s a secret teabagging party! Cheney’s inadequate.
