In a much anticipated appearance, Pastor Rick Warren was scheduled to speak to George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week today. The interview would have been his first since he appeared on Larry King last week and controversially claimed that he never endorsed Prop. 8 in California. Today at the top of his show, Stephanopoulos announced:
Happy Easter and Happy Passover. For those of you tuning in this morning expecting to hear from Pastor Rick Warren, we were too, but the pastor’s representatives canceled moments before the scheduled interview, saying that Mr. Warren is sick from exhaustion. We hope he recovers quickly and we’re going to turn instead to the hostage standoff off the coast of Somalia.
Hey being a total d-bag is very exhausting. Hating takes a lot of energy… Being a total loser is demanding as well. The gods must be so embarassed by those that claim to know them
April 12th, 2009 at 11:45 am“sick from exhaustion”?
Does this mean that Pastor Rick will soon enter rehab? That’s what “sick from exhaustion” means these days, doesn’t it?
April 12th, 2009 at 11:47 amThou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Especially on Sunday.
Try Robertson’s energy drink.
April 12th, 2009 at 11:49 amMaybe there is a God….
April 12th, 2009 at 11:50 amWarren is an opportunist, plain and simple.
He contradicts himself frequently because it’s hard to keep a story straight if you make yourself dizzy by spinning around.
I am glad that Obama chose him to speak at the inaugural — he used the evangelicals in that way — he elevated the guy so high that watching him fall will be quite the spectacle.
April 12th, 2009 at 11:50 amWell, it is Easter Sunday so shouldn’t the Pastor be in church anyway?
April 12th, 2009 at 11:52 am…representatives canceled moments before the scheduled interview, saying that Mr. Warren is sick from exhaustion.
Shouldn’t that be ’sick from exclusion?’
April 12th, 2009 at 11:56 amHe’s “sick from exhaustionL” but not for the reasons stated.
It’s hard work – HAAAAAARD WORK getting his mouth ready for all the “teabagging” this week to show solidarity with the other closet homosexual republicans.
Sure – they get daily practice putting b@lls in their mouths, but this man love fest is gonna challenge even a big testicle chompin’ repug like ricky warren.
April 12th, 2009 at 11:59 amWhoa! This is clearly as, if not more important, than President Obama continuing Bush’s warrantless wiretapping and Constitution shredding policies!
More on this topic, please!
April 12th, 2009 at 12:05 pmMr. Warren is sick from exhaustion.
– - I guess the resurrection of our lord and savior was deemed important enough for a day off work, for Rick.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:07 pmPersonally, I have my doubts that he is really “sick from exhaustion.” I think he knew he was busted and didn’t know how to respond. But that’s just me.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:07 pmYeah Warren’s sick alright! Sick because HE LIED and got caught! Warren doesn’t want to be embarrassed but this isn’t going away! Shyte is too funny! It will be interesting to hear what his expanation will be. Thank goodness for new media. Keep exposing these hypocritical, hateful liars!
April 12th, 2009 at 12:08 pmOff Topic:
Right now Gen. Ordierno is saying on CNN that the amount and movements of troops in Iraq is up to PM Maliki.
Now, where is the Right Wing outrage about putting our troops under foreign command?

How much more information do you think has come out since Satyam posted his thread on that subject at 6:30 PM ET yesterday?
This is an important subject, and since we lefties have no problem with multitasking, we would like to stay informed on as many of the issues as possible.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:11 pmBadmoodman,
You are really nailing the born-again speak today! (Get it? nailing!
April 12th, 2009 at 12:15 pmJust before air time Rick Warren got the word that General James Dobson had surrendered in the “culture war”, therefore there was no need to go on the program. He had to prepare a farewell address to his troops before giving up his sword and sidearms.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:16 pmPlease god sens us a freak of yours to amuse us… I await your sign…
April 12th, 2009 at 12:31 pmWhy should you never play hide and seek with Jesus?
He always peeks through the holes in his hands…
April 12th, 2009 at 12:39 pmFergus, or maybe Ranger Rick is going to go Red Dawn on our asses.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:39 pmWhen the culture one represents is constantly expressed with hypocrisy, vindictiveness, pettiness, callousness, ignorance, hysteria and utter stupidity, how the hell does one expect to win the ‘hearts and minds’ of others?
Oh silly me, of course the culture warriors expected to ‘win’–their proud stupidity and ignorance informed them.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:40 pmdbadass…as soon as pete shows up, you;; get your wish. He seems to attract Pentecostals like ‘Pig Pen’ attracts dirt.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:47 pmthey should have taken done what the Brits did, as cited by Krugman
“Lard” might have been better than Warren

April 12th, 2009 at 12:51 pmOne can catch the “rev” on faux news. It’s called simply Easter with rick warren.
Will he lie again? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hell yeah.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:51 pmRUSH must have given Mr. Warren’s choke-chain a mighty tug.
Rick’s turn in Rush’s woodshed. Warren’s sniveling, groveling, pants-wetting retraction expected tomorrow.
I suspect Rick is having a very painful Sunday.
April 12th, 2009 at 12:55 pmSo, did Slick Rick suddenly get miraculously better just in time for a big fund raiser on his TeeVee show today?
April 12th, 2009 at 12:59 pmfaux (just now): here we have a picture of the Vatican happening in Rome.
IDIOTS!
April 12th, 2009 at 12:59 pmRick Warren crawls away in defeat — a loser in the far right’s culture war.

Personally, I have my doubts that he is really “sick from exhaustion.”
– - Gosh, ya think? It seems especially venial and damning for a Pastor to lie on Easter Sunday.

He can’t be alone with a woman or HIMSELF? Jeebus, that dude is weak and creepy.
April 12th, 2009 at 1:15 pmBut if he’s telling the truth, then how lame is it that a pastor falls prey to exhaustion before the holiest day of the Christian calendar?
That’s some really bad planning, doncha think?

April 12th, 2009 at 1:29 pmWhat a doofus! Did he just figure out that it looks pretty greedy and prideful to be bloviating on a TV yackfest instead of attending to your “flock” on Easter Sunday?
April 12th, 2009 at 2:04 pmHE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE
Evangelicals are the bullies and hypocrites who believe the earth is 6,000 to 10,000 years old despite it being 4,500,000,000 years old. The “rationalization” that the word “day” may not mean 24 hours is an admission that the bible IS NOT a literal document, but one that is literally dependent on the reader’s subjective interpretation rather than a verbatim dissemination of god’s words.
It’s always amazed me that fundamentalists who claim to base their values on the words on a particular interpretation of the bible pick and choose which words ARE and ARE NOT to be interpreted literally.
Why should a book that has been translated numerous times from numerous languages by numerous biased and fallible human beings over a period of more than 2,000 years be necessary as proof of and or a justification for one’s moral values? When faith itself is completely ethereal, why do so many people base their religious values on the written word?
The majority of people who place so much emphasis on a bible DO NOT practice the values in that bible nor do they project the grace and tolerance of a faithful believer. Where in any interpretation of any bible does it suggest that god wants people to use his words as a tool, weapon or political litmus test? The “Christians” who do that aren’t just misinterpreting god’s words; they are perverting them into political/cultural swords of sacrilege and unrighteousness.

he’s sick from raiding the Easter baskets.
April 12th, 2009 at 2:18 pmWas he on the TV machine with his Easter sermon from Saddleback Church today? I tried to check in on it a couple of times, but they were showing “breaking news” coverage of the rescue of Capt Phillips. Was his Easter TV program “pre-empted” by the breaking news? Or did his program start and get interrupted? I was busy watching the Mets, so I didn’t remember to check at the beginning.

April 12th, 2009 at 2:55 pmSure is alot of “hate” on this web site.
April 12th, 2009 at 6:11 pmSick from exhaustion ? I thought he was from the branch of churchianity that proclaimed that the righteous were free from the curse of disease – just a matter of faith.????
April 12th, 2009 at 6:13 pmYes, Warren’s Easter Sunday sermon was on Fox for about 15 or 20 minutes before they broke for the captain rescue.
It was kind of bizarre – he had on too tight pants, and an oversized shirt that was not tucked in. No jacket and no tie…on Easter?? He looked very unkempt and unhealthy.
I always think of him as “Porkchop Rick”.
What I saw of the sermon seemed rambling and disconnected (though I often have that reaction to Christian mythology).
April 12th, 2009 at 6:14 pmWell, jeff, when you report on the utterances and actions of right-wingers, you’re bound to get a little “hate” on your shoes.
Really no way ’round that, I’m afraid.
April 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pmGive him a break. He’s suffering from “exhaustion”.
April 12th, 2009 at 6:26 pmRick Warren had an apiphany, the realization the path out of the woods is in the seperation of church and state, and refusing to appear on ABC is what Jesus would really do.

You vote when it comes up in your state. If you can’t live with the way we vote in this country, MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY. In the mean time when your state vote on anything get out vote and support your choice. And PLEASE, PLEASE learn to live with the majority rule till the next time it is voted on.
