72 percent of Americans disagree with Cheney’s claim that Obama has made the U.S. less safe.

Last month, former Vice President Dick Cheney complained that President Obama’s policies “raise the risk…of another attack” in the U.S. Since then, numerous government officials — including Gen. David Petraeus and Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) — have spoken out against Cheney’s remarks. Now, a new CNN poll shows that the American public also view Cheney’s claim with disregard. According to the poll, 72 percent “disagree with Cheney’s view that some of Obama’s actions have put the country at greater risk with 26 percent agreeing with the former vice president.”

  1. The Moderate Squad says:

23 percent? That’s just about the percentage of idiots that don’t think Cheney is a lying, cowardly, un-American moron

  2. fire _ant_chavis says:

Cheeeney, keep up the fearmongering, it’s going over reeeeeally well – ROTFL! Maybe the teabaggers should invite Cheeeney to their little party on April 15th?

  3. dasm says:

Cheney is evil. Anti-American & evil.

  4. Rodeskawler says:

I want to say that what Cheney means is, that by Obama being president, theoretically Cheney himself should be less safe, but Holder is to busy dropping charges on corrupt Republican senators while ignoring Democratic Alabama Governors getting ready to face the same Bush hacks that wrongly prosecuted him, because Obama has not fired them.

  5. Mr. Evil says:

Dick(head) Cheney and Bill Kristol are working feverishly to organize the next false-flag terror event here just to prove the neocon warmongers right. There is no low they wouldn’t stoop to to get what they want.

  6. Ape-Man says:

We are safer from external threats and safer from internal [cheney] threats too!!

  7. COProgressive says:

88% of Americans agree that Cheney should STFU and crawl back under his rock in his undisclosed location.

  11. Danny Noonan says:

And we all know that the 26 percent in agreement with Cheney double as Obama birthers and Minutemen enthusiasts. Doesn’t get any lower than that.

  12. fire _ant_chavis says:

I don’t mind that Cheeney comes out and spews this nonsense. It just confirms why our country is in the mess it’s in today. It just shows the mindset of Evil Cheney who was running things all along. I’m hoping he will help drive the GOP into permanent exile. We need to hear from the rightwingnuts so that we know what they’re up to and keep them painted into a corner that they can’t come out of. All they’ll be able to do is make noise but they will be powerless.

  13. Rich H says:

I don’t mind what Cheney says either, I just wish it was from behind bars.

  19. flight says:

    I disagree with with the CNN poll. They have it backwards. I believe the poll should have ask;

Cheney is nopt only evil, he is totally out of touch with real Americans. He’s a devil.

  22. MapleStreet says:

I’m trying to figure out how the poll was worded. 72 yes, 26 no, only leaves 2% for don’t know / no opinion/etc. Seems quite low.

I also wonder if this number may dramatically change now with the successful rescue of the ship’s captain from the Somali pirates.

    (still love dick) 2%

Here’s a poll: Dick Cheney; weasel or rat?

I like animals too much to give Cheney the name of an animate object. Weasels and rats have their own PR problems without having their names slandered by comparison to Cheney.

There’s also a problem because the first 15 or so words that spring to mind are not fit for polite company.

So. I respectfully ask that you open your poll to accept, “SCUM”, as a worthy nickname for the retired Vice dick.

  31. SP Biloxi says:

“72 percent of Americans disagree with Cheney’s claim that Obama has made the U.S. less safe.”

And who are the 28% who agree with the half-human and half cyborg Darth Cheney? He has wandered the streets too long in this country. Dick belongs in prison.

  32. kasinca says:

Didn’t Cheney say the Al Queada was in it’s last throes a couple of times? Why would we believe anything that comes from his lying lips.

And that’s just one example of their series of stuff-ups.

  34. pdennany says:

I do disagree with Cheney, but if Obama really wanted to make the United States a truly more safe place, he would have insured that a special prosecuter was appointed to prosicute the horrible crimes of the Bush/Cheney regime. It is a sickening shame that we have to hope that other counties, such as Spain, God Bless them, have the guts to help some with the very much needed lesson. If the cowardly Obama won’t step up, he should be prosecuted for complicity in the Bush regime crimes after the fact.

  35. Mathazar says:

Someone should ask him how outing Valerie Plame made America
    safer.

The Bush Six to Be Indicted
Spanish prosecutors will seek criminal charges against Alberto Gonzales and five high-ranking Bush administration officials for sanctioning torture at Guantánamo.
    By Scott Horton.
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-04-13/the-bush-six-to-be-indicted/

The six defendants—in addition to Gonzales, Federal Appeals Court Judge and former Assistant Attorney General Jay Bybee, University of California law professor and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo, former Defense Department general counsel and current Chevron lawyer William J. Haynes II, Vice President Cheney’s former chief of staff David Addington, and former Undersecretary of Defense Douglas J. Feith—are accused of having given the green light to the torture and mistreatment of prisoners held in U.S. detention in “the war on terror.” The case arises in the context of a pending proceeding before the court involving terrorism charges against five Spaniards formerly held at Guantánamo. A group of human-rights lawyers originally filed a criminal complaint asking the court to look at the possibility of charges against the six American lawyers. Baltasar Garzón Real, the investigating judge, accepted the complaint and referred it to Spanish prosecutors for a view as to whether they would accept the case and press it forward. “The evidence provided was more than sufficient to justify a more comprehensive investigation,” one of the lawyers associated with the prosecution stated.

But prosecutors will also ask that Judge Garzón, an internationally known figure due to his management of the case against former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet and other high-profile cases, step aside.

Cheney had an “approval rating” of 19% when he was the VP. Now look….only 18% agree with him now! Looks like some of the wingers are thinking Cheney is a moron. Bah hahahahahaha! Shocker. Who would have thought that would ever happen?

  61. DallasNE says:

It is scary to think that 26% of Americans belong to the lunatic fringe but that is the other message of this poll.

  62. KayInMaine says:

Oops. I did add wrong. Thanks DallasNE for making that clear! ;-)

EVERY AMERICAN, regardless of political affiliation should having nothing but comtempt for this SOB!

“Five deferment Dick” is hedging his bet that he and only he and the neocons had the strategy in place to combat terrorism. Hence, Dick is betting on an attack under an Obama administration to give validity to Cheney hence, “I told ya so.”

For once and for all – The attacks on 9/11 by knife-wielding thugs that commandeered airliners occurred on Bush/Cheneys watch! What did Cheney do? He cherry-picked intelligence, strong-armed the State Dept and question any and everyones LOYALTY to get his way – which was to INVADE THE WRONG COUNTRY that had nothing to do with the attacks of 9/11!

    Cheney is a self-absorbed COWARD!

  68. RUCeriousDragonfly says:

Shouldn’t Dick cheney be in prison right now for treason for his role in outing Valerie Plame?

Maybe someday we will actually have a rule of law and will hold people, including the rich and powerful, accountable for their crimes. Doubtful, but maybe.

  71. marlow says:

Generally, Dickles, when your popularity rating isn’t even in the double digits, you should just probably shut the hell up and take a friend hunting.

  72. Yamunation says:

For a man so unambitious that he said he had no desire to be, or run for president ever, it is surprising that he’s trying to use every opportunity to get back in the news. he is a FORMER vice president, and should act like one. Seen but not heard.

  73. Itsallbus says:

Wow. You guys need to get out of the basement, get some fresh air and learn to type with both hands. If you think Obama is going to get a new world order by doing a Barnie Frank on the Saudi king – well you are probably right. Looks to me like Hillary is the only one that has the cajones to stand up to anyone and hold the fort until 2012 when we bring Cheney back to straighten things out.
