Israeli president hints that Israel will attack Iran if Obama’s overtures fail.
Last month, Israeli President Shimon Peres contradicted President Obama’s groundbreaking message to Iran by urging the Iranians to overthrow their government. Meanwhile, Obama emphasized his willingness to work with the current Iranian leaders and underscored his view that regime change is not a goal. Now, Peres is ratcheting up more bellicose rhetoric. During a radio interview yesterday, he said that Israel is poised to attack Iran if Obama’s “overtures to the Islamic republic fail to bear fruit”:
“Ahmadinejad recruits forces against us, but there are also forces against him,” Peres said. “What happened in Egypt created a fierce opposition and we must unify all his opponents – the Sunnis and the Europeans, as well as those afraid of nuclear weapons and terror.”
Peres went on to say that he hoped Obama’s call for dialogue with Ahmadinejad would be heeded, but warned that if such talks don’t soften the Iranian president’s approach “we’ll strike him.”
Peres did add a caveat. “We certainly cannot go it alone, without the US, and we definitely can’t go against the US. This would be unnecessary,” he said. “Israel would be utterly crazy to attack Iran,” International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei said recently. “I worry about it. If you bomb, you will turn the region into a ball of fire and put Iran on a crash course for nuclear weapons with the support of the whole Muslim world.”

The choice that Israel made was to violate the cease-fire they’d had with Hamas. There had been no rockets fired into Israeli territory for months before the November 4th Israeli escalation, despite a blockade on Gaza that left the citizens of the strip without access to food, fuel, electricity, or economic productivity. They then used Hamas’ retaliation as grounds for an all-out assault on civilian areas with no regard for human life.
Israel bombed schools, hospitals, businesses, UN aid warehouses, and other civilian targets indiscriminately. This was murder and collective punishment.
And about those “cowards hiding behind civilians,” what do you call the Israeli military using Palestinians as human shields?
If Israel wants to be left alone, they’ll close the settlements, pull out of the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights, and allow Palestinians their sovereignty.

This time the US will not join in a pre emptive strike against innocent people. Iran like Syria has no Nukes so they will not have the weapons to reach Israel. Who knows if successful Israel will look to attack the United States next. However – the Iranians will blame us for losing control of Israel and our condemnation will be lost in the melee.
But such an unfortunate occurance would give the US a chance to re-evaluate our relationship with the always angry and aggressively warlike Israel — LONG overdue.

Israeli jetfighters have to fly over Jordan,Saudi Arabia,Turkey and then fly over Iraq, which means US involvement.
By ground,Israel has no army that can reach Iran.
So, Israel leaders keeps talking about war hoping to get US involved.
Such involovement of US at this time will be very costly to US and its other friends in the area.
Israel always looks for its own interests, America should do the same.
Israel can start the air war…but as a result, the US will be getting involved in a devastating longtime ground war with Iran,in addition to the current wars on hand in Iraq and Afghanstan.
Will such a costly war be in the interest of US now?
It is very much doubtful that it will be.

It was reported some years ago that Israel was buying small group of cruise missile-armed submarines. Israel had also been testing its own design cruise missile to arm these submarines. The reports indicated the Israelis wanted to place nuclear warheads on these cruise missiles, but conventional warheads could replace them for a precision strike. The Iranians would have limited ability to deter such a strike with their current naval force. Of course, all bets would be off if the Israelis chose to use nuclear weapons in the strike.
