<em><strong>ProgressVet </strong>Says: let’s not make the same mistake by knowingly misrepresent their issues, however silly they may be.</em>

A fair point. And while I'll admit that perhaps I'm being fed a liberal-biased view of prior tea parties, they still seem to be more filled with signs equating Obama with Hitler, being a fascist, socialist, communist, tyrant... signs about him coming after your guns, the New World Order, global currency, Obama being born in Kenya, his being a Muslim, etc.

Yes, taxes are mentioned too. But it seems to be just more a politically correct focal point to rally an attempt at demonizing an elected president, trying to make him seem less than human, his authority being painted as being unworthy of respect or recognition.

Seems like some people need to be reminded what the Boston Tea Party was really about.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azo_44D6UZk" rel="nofollow">Thom Hartmann does a great job in this video</a>

Look, we sure don't like it when the right-wing media (Fox News)misrepresents issues from the Left, so let's not make the same mistake by knowingly misrepresent their issues, however silly they may be.

These protests, while they may have scattered anti-Obama tones, are primarily about the increased spending by the Obama administration. This is not a taxation issue. Please stop writing articles that aren't a true representation of the issue.

<em>This idea that someone is an idiot for questioning substantial debt spending doesn’t make sense to me.

I think many of the people that are concerned about debt may be stirred up by partisans, but their concerns are none the less real.</em>

Not an idiot, just not credible, given their past acquiessence on republican spending. It's really easy to stir up conservatives, and given that they are also trying to gin up anger over non-existant gun seizures, it's clear they (republicans) are trying to keep their base together for next year's elections, using fear and deception, just like they always do.

marwick Says:

<em>Not “anti-Obama.”

The teaparty events are protesting wreckless deficit spending by Congress and Obama. This is really a carry over from Bush, too. </em>

Except Fox news wasn't promoting nationwide anti-spending events when Bush was running the debt up to the stratosphere, and you folks on the right didn't let out a peep when we complained about wasteful spending for 8 years.

But now, when you're in the minority, suddenly fiscal responsibility is all-important.

This purely political sour grapes, dressed up as principled stand.

Bunk. Its anti Obama. These guys didnt care SQUAT about the spending Bush did WHICH HAD NO POSSIBIlITY of a return. The war was a sinkhole for money. As were the tax cuts that went overwhelmingly to the wealthy. NOW constructive spending that does things that CAN give a return are a different fish entirely. Its like they encouraged their Brother in law to keep buying fishing boats and indulge in his collection of hubcaps while he was going DEEP into debt. So much debt that it will take most of his disposable income for the next fifty years to pay it off but when he has a chance to borrow some more and invest in a bussiness so he can maybe pay it off in five or ten years they are suddenly throwing a fit and telling him THAT is irresponsible. It is just plain stupid. Either these people are morons AND brainwashed or its just flat out anti obama

Is Fox Network a news reporting agency or a shill for the republican "We know what's best for you poor folks" political party?
They must be owned and operated by the elite top 10% of the population that owns 90% of the wealth in this country.
Tuning into the BBCA network to see of they actually report the news.

Not "anti-Obama."

The teaparty events are protesting wreckless deficit spending by Congress and Obama. This is really a carry over from Bush, too.

The government is eventually coming after all of you to pay the bill. You, your kids, and your grandkids.

The deficit is expected to be $20 Trillion in 10 years. At 4% interest, that's $800 billion a year just to pay interest on the debt. Nothing else. No health care. No food for starving people. No unemployment help. Just interest on the debt. Money down the drain.

The teaparties are an attempt by the people of the US who care about their future and their children's future to stand up to the wreckless spending by Congress.

What's all this uproar over teablogging?

I mean, c'mon, haven't you ever been reading a blog post on the internet, only to spew tea out through your nose all over your keyboard?

Oh, wait, conservative teabagging parties. Sorry. That's a completely different sack of nuts.

There's a simple way to end FOX's enchantment with the teabaggers. Let MSNBC start covering the entire event as simply an effort on the part of Ruppert Murdoch to evade paying his fair share of income taxes.

The more focus on this aspect of the story as the only "news worthy" aspect of the story, the smaller the appeal of the teabaggers to FOX "News".

Come on folks, lets start crowding the doors at New Corp head quarters for statements from Uncle Ruppert on where he intends to take his movement! Hang out at his penthouse, His favorite restaurants and clubs, demand answers.

Smoke him out!

Questions for Uncle Ruppert when he does show up?

1) Will you be giving up your offshore bank accounts in the Cayman Islands?

2) Will News Corporation continue to allow the Chinese to employ prisoners when making teabag marketing toys?

3) Will News Corporation continue to accede to pressure by the Chinese government for favorable coverage on trade issues in exchange for continued special rights in operating News Corporation businesses in China?

4) Will News Corporation be willing to increase its taxes to provide tax relief for the teabaggers?

5) Will News Corporation be willing to forego the benefits of corporate socialism on behalf of the "movement"?

...

Come on folks, lets get creative and have some fun. Uncle Ruppert deserves the attention. He's calling out for it! If we're going to give him more tax breaks, we ought to at least get some fun in return.

5) Will News Corporation be willing to forego the benefits of corporate socialism on behalf of the “movement”?

…

Come on folks, lets get creative and have some fun. Uncle Ruppert deserves the attention. He’s calling out for it! If we’re going to give him more tax breaks, we ought to at least get some fun in return.

Will this be a circular teabagging, where they can all gaze into each others rapturous faces, or something more like a conga line, where the necessity for adroit bagmanship will create many an opportunity for mutual hilarity? I simply CAN'T wait!

<em>Bobwurst Says:

Brian Crooks Says:

Despite that, if we are now spending significantly more, people still have a right to voice their concern.

But this is a false if. We're not spending significantly more:http://mediamatters.org/items/200904030018

And when you factor in the cost of bush's wars, which he never counted in his budgets, the difference is even less. Face it, these people are protesting something other than taxation or spending…</em>

These idiot teabaggers are really protesting President Obama's hue.

You better bet it.

I just got off the phone with my 86 year old grandmother who like's watching her favorite team "Da Bulls" play and as I proceeded to ask her what her thought's where on the so called 'Tea-Party' protest. She said, <strong><em>"oh, the people of DC are finally protesting their taxation without representation."</em></strong> LOL

I just laughed and said great she's not a FOX News junkie, by the way she dislikes FOX News and even wrote a letter to them condemning their reporting style.

<em>Jane. you’re cool.</em>

Thanks, backup. But I still think that your comments are nitpicking around the edges of what's wrong with this "tea party" event, which I'm not going to re-argue here as Ralph and others have already taken care of that.

I'm hoping that a real news agency covers some of the events to show the actual number of people attending. I also hope that someone asks several members of whatever 'crowd' there may be to explain exactly what they are protesting against. I'm willing to bet that most of their answers are not reality-based.

As someone else said yesterday, the only good coming out of this silly stuff is Lipton. They love it.

And those people that show up for many reasons at the rally's are silly. Some saying something regarding socialism. Most western world governments are half socialist and half capitalist. And those people should ask themselves. Do they want to go without social security, how about medicare, FDIC to protect their bank, unemployment compensation etc? Which one of these programs are they using? Which ones are their parents using? And what about those Republicans and right wing pundits that have started this desperate silly PR? Would they give up the socialist health insurance we give them as legislators, the one we don't have but they do?

They should try reading their American history to find out just what the Boston tea party was about. They seem to have some vague idea and it's not even historically correct.

They might use some of the time they are wasting, to study some American history. It might help to know what your talking about. And it might help you to learn just how your being used by a party in shambles with do ideas other than silliness. They should be embarrassed to be so ignorant and so easily influenced.
