I'm not sure that I want to believe it, but it's entirely possible that elements within our (self-avowedly) conservative military and intelligence communities are currently planning a coup d'etat at the behest, and with the cooperation of prominent corporate interests and the politicians who serve them. After all, they've done it before abroad, and the stakes are much higher at home.
