Civil War Emerges At Fox News: ‘We Don’t F*cking Torture’ Vs. ‘Torture, My Ass’

Since President Obama released the Bush administration’s OLC torture memos, several Fox News pundits have launched unrelenting, full-throated defenses of torture. Bill O’Reilly dismissed waterboarding yesterday, saying, “Torture, my ass.” Also yesterday, Sean Hannity volunteered to be waterboarded for charity (those who have tried it have found it to be rather unpleasant):

GRODIN: We can waterboard you?

HANNITY: Sure.

GRODIN: Are you busy on Sunday?

HANNITY: I’ll do it for charity. … I’ll let you do it. I’ll do it for the troops’ families.

Watch it:

Surprisingly, Fox is not all pro-torture. In fact, there are a handful of pundits who are speaking out against torture at the right-wing network. In multiple segments over the past few days, Shep Smith has been ripping the idea of government-sanctioned torture. “We are America. We don’t torture. And the moment that is not the case, I want off the train!” he declared Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday, in Fox’s Strategy Room, which was only aired on the web, Smith’s anger culminated in an explosion:

SMITH: WE ARE AMERICA! I DON’T GIVE A RAT’S ASS IF IT HELPS. WE ARE AMERICA! WE DO NOT FUCKING TORTURE! WE DON’T DO IT!

Fox News’s Trace Gallagher responded, “I’m not saying whether torture is right or wrong. I’m not going there.” Watch it (at roughly 3:00):

Smith isn’t alone. Judge Andrew Napolitano (”The Judge”) — a staunch conservative – said in the Strategy Room that the memos “are so fraught with disregarding volumes of law.” This week, he wrote a scathing critique of the Bush administration’s legal reasoning. “This is not rocket science and it is not art. Everyone knows torture when they see it,” he wrote, decrying the “illegal horror,” “moral antipathy,” and the memos’ “attack at core American values.”

Furthermore, Fox contributor and former New York Times reporter Judy Miller said yesterday that “enhanced interrogation techniques” are “Orwellian. It’s Orwellian for torture.” It remains to be seen which faction will come out on top in this Fox News civil war.

  1. camera obscura says:

The obvious solution here is to have Shep Smith personally waterboard Sean Hannity. They both deserve it.

  2. EndTheGOP says:

You know, for being all high and mighty and righteous, the folks at FakeNews sure are obsessed with their own asses. Does this have anything to do with their fixation on teabagging each other?

  3. MrBrown says:

    Actually its more like;

“We dont torture!” vs. “Define Torture…”

  4. misscoleopteramolly says:

The idea of Hannity being waterboarded might actually get me to tune in to Fox News for the event. What questions should he be asked during his interrogation?

  5. WellstonesGhost says:

    EXACTLY Camera Obscura, 187 times!

  6. Jim Wolf359 says:

If I recall my history right, we tried, convicted and hanged several Japanese War Crimminals for the Torture Tactics that the Bush Administration so enthussiastically approved. If it was Torture then, it is Torture now and should be prosecuted accordingly.

  7. stateofthedivision says:

Did Shep’s “fcking” go over the public airwaves? If so, I expect a Janet Jackson like fine.

  8. Buckie Boy says:

Well at least one (Smith) Fox reporter (if you can call them that) has some sort of resemblance of ethics and morals…

…the rest of them…not so much.

America is not supposed to Torture, we are better than that…or at least we were.

  9. AIO grasshopper says:

Strange how right wingers hate political correctness except with terms like enhanced interrogation.
Also, you didn’t mention Geraldo, I’d imagine he would be against torture as well. He is (for the most part) among the few good things on Fox.

  10. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

Highsterical! If this heats up much more I may have to unblock the FOX channel, get some popcorn and start watching. We seem to be witnessing a group of sicophants who are being divided into two camps. One camp is willing to defend their God Cheney to the end. The other camp is hoping that by denouncing torture that after the trials are over, prior Administration officials are languishing in prison and FOX News is widely recognized in America as the media arm of the Rethuglican Party maybe, just maybe they can find a job on a real channel.

Hey Sean, while you are being waterboarded I want you to keep a mental picture in your head to try to help you focus on not blacking out: picture Bill-o, Murdoch, Cheney(you know he’ll be watching), Glenn Beck and the rest of your prescious colleagues watching you with the hardest erections they ever had. No viagra needed at the FOX Studios that night! Hey Sean after you’re finished being borded, can we hang you by your wrists in shackles and force you awake for about a week? Could be like the FOX News Channel charity version of the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Honestly though I don’t give you twenty seconds before you piss your pants and start crying for your Mommy.

Pass the popcorn. Prep the orange jumpsuits. The lid is off.

Even John bonehead Boehner called it “torture” (h/t HuffPo):

While cable news outlets and major newspapers continue to use euphemisms such as “harsh interrogation tactics” to describe the Bush administration’s approach to intelligence gathering, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) used a more succinct term Thursday: “torture.”

“Last week, they released these memos outlining torture techniques. That was clearly a political decision and ignored the advice of their Director of National Intelligence and their CIA director,” Boehner said at a press conference in the Capitol.

The techniques discussed include waterboarding, slamming detainees into walls, and depriving them of sleep for up to 11 days.

Boehner argued that a discussion of such torture techniques was “inappropriate,” as it could tip off U.S. enemies to the tactics used and “denigrate” the United States and its allies. Torture is illegal under U.S. and international law…

It is now a matter of public record that, among other tactics, we waterboarded “high-value” captives hundreds of times (and there are undoubtedly many other detainee waterboardees we as yet don’t know about).

Waterboarding is a legally “torture” and a war crime. It takes all of 15-20 seconds online to find the various cases wherein it was successfully prosecuted.

Top Bu’ush adminstration officials documentably ordered torture. They must be held to account.

  13. Keith H. says:

Ah, now I am beginning to understand why they wanted mccain to win. I would really like to know why so many in the government want this covered up. It seems so, weird.

Sheps comments were great. Every now and then he comes out and says something sane on faux news.

  19. gitrdone says:

Water boarding was used during the Spanish Inquisition for God’s sake, of course it’s torture! But what’s even more disturbing is how it was used over 183 times. They were so desperate to get any info at all to create a link between Iraq and 9/11 in the White House that they went above the law and now Fox News and all these right-wing pundits are trying to defend it?? They are going to pay dearly for their position in the future after an investigation digs deeper into the matter. I have a feeling this could destroy the GOP forever.

  20. gitrdone says:

My advice would be to get off the train before it crashes! I think that’s what some of these right-wingers are doing.

  21. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

Regarding Li’l Sean, I don’t want some soldier doing the waterboarding under such conditions as to make Hannity assured that it’s just a simulation and everything is safe. I want this scumbag to have a taste of what the detainees experienced. Since he has given his approval to be borded he should be snatched off the street, hooded and taken to an undisclosed location, kept alone in the dark for a day or so with Bill Clinton speeches played at loud volume and then dragged off for his “treatment” by someone that Hannity would not trust to hold back. Odds on how long it would take to break this pissypants little fool? Who should administer the waterboarding?

  22. Purple State says:

It seems to me that the argument comes down to the target of torture. There is obviously a difference between torturing the innocent and torturing the guilty, but that is what the justice system is for. We should not be torturing people for any reason if we have confidence in our justice system.

The people who did all of this interrogative protocol need to be brought into question so that we may, as Shep put it, set an example to the rest of the world.

  23. buzzbomb says:

Hannity will have water poured on his face for about ten seconds, he’ll dry off and say “that was nothing. All these liberal sissies just need to shut up.”
Next week on Hannity: “I’ll hook electrodes to my balls… hooked to a nine volt battery.”

  24. 08Dariana says:

Go Shep Smith eat them up

  25. BobbyG says:

Do we have an email address for Shep Smith?

  26. larkohio says:

I agree with #24. I was so happy to hear Shep Smith say this. It was not easy to do on his network, so kudos to Smith!

  27. krystalview says:

  28. APEC not OPEC says:

I’d rather see him in a dog collar having his head banned agaist a wall. Maybe that would knock some sense into him. I pity his wife and children.

  29. sponson says:

This blog is often criticized for highlighting the latest outburst from some Fox News clown. I would say that when a major Fox figure like O’Reilly is caught lying, or attacks CAP or TP, or even Media Matters, it’s relevant and ought to be posted. But why this post? It is simply a running narration of what is happening on the Fox News network today, as if it were a soap opera. I truly don’t see the relevance that Fox talking heads are playing good cop/bad cop, and positioning themselves on both sides of the issue. It’s an entertainment review by TP, not news.

  30. The Ctenocephalides Dogfather says:

It’s always nice to hear the Manatee make an even bigger fool of himself, which seems to be happening on a daily basis. I bet he wouldn’t think waterboarding was a “charity event” if he was really waterboarded.

I say we rendition him to Iran or North Korea and let them have at him — the Manatee’s worst nightmare…

  31. Zimzone says:

    Here’s a thought…

Charge a pay per view fee to watch this. Why, we could turn the damn economy around with the number willing to pay to watch!

I’ll gladly volunteer to be the ‘waterboy’.

Next, we’ll do a pay per view to see Newt neutered.

I’m NOT volunteering for that duty!

  32. amish_edison says:

They should make the Hannity waterboarding a Pay-Per-View event and really show everyone who tunes in just how gruesome, heinous, and rightfully illegal the tactic really is.

If Hannity really wants to show that he feels that waterboarding isn’t torture, I propose that he endure an EXCLUSIVE; the exact same waterboarding 7 to 8 times a day for a month that the al-qaeda prisoners recieved. THEN at the end of that month, he will be uniquely qualified to report on whether or not he feels that it’s torture.

It’s too bad that all these talking-heads are just that, all talk!

  33. tokin librul says:

THey’d make more money for charity if they’d auction off theprivilege of waterboarding that snivelling shitheel, Hannity.

I want to be the guy who stuffs the shit-soaked rag into his mouth…

  34. eyeswideopen1 says:

Bring out the popcorn. GOP=the pro-torture party! Sounds like a formula for election success to me!

  35. Xisithrus says:

Hitchens had himself waterboarded and it wasnt long before he admitted it was torture.

I bet Hannitea wont go thru with this and if he does dont stop at waterboarding, put him nude in a freezing cell, deprive him of sleep for a full week, put him in stress positions as well.

  36. celtic cynic says:

Don’t worry, Hannity will chicken out. Doctor’s orders: a pimple on his ass or a hangnail or a sudden urgent haircut appointment.

  37. pasnell says:

Did anyone see Rachel Maddow’s show Wed. night? Great explanation of what is happening with this “torture” discussion. Smith shows this is NOT a Republican or Democrat issue. This is a moral issues.

I feel like some of these people are like mothers trying to justify why her son drove drunk and killed someone in an accident. It was Wrong! It is wrong! It will always be wrong!

  38. Xisithrus says:

Whats next..will O’Reilly be calling for internment camps for those he disagrees with?

Will Mr Culture warrior finally don his ‘F’ cape?

  39. fire _ant_chavis says:

No wonder Shep Smith has lower ratings than Hannity and the rest on Fake News. Occasionally he seems to have moments of clarity.

I would love to see Hannity waterboarded 183 times. There’s just no way he could continue saying waterboarding is not torture after that. Then again he may continue lying because it’s all about ratings with this guy.

  40. Libellula saturata Annie says:

This whole torture thing makes me sick. Every single time now when I hear “America doesn’t torture” — my first thought is this:

    America doesn’t torture ….anymore.

It’s barbaric, it’s evil, it’s wrong, and this wrong needs to be righted. The ONLY way to erase this stain on our national honor is to PROSECUTE those who committed these war crimes. Otherwise, it’s like having a rotting corpse stashed away in the next room – you may not be able to see it — but you can sure by damn *smell* it.

And being the miserable cynic that I am, I fully expect Mr. Smith to resign from FAUX – in order to “spend more time with his family.”

  41. herecomestheangst says:

I think I’d rather see a rebirth thingy with Hannity coming out of his “mom’s womb” again, that’s all a big brown sack because he feels unloved.

But in the process they crack his head too hard and he gets stuck on disability.

  42. NOLIESPLEASE says:

Has anyone seen the torture tape that came out of the UAE??? The tapes shows (grafficly)the Sheiks brother (yes brother)torturing a man while the police and others hold the person down.

They stuffed sand into his mouth, beat him with a board with a nail then put salt on his cuts. Shot gun at him bearly missing him, ran over his legs with a Mercedes SUV, beat him to a point where this man is still in the hospital. All caught on tape. Offical gov responce…we looked into the matter and everything was done within the law. Fu**en unbelivable!!!!

NOW WE KNOW WHY THE BUSH’S LIKED HANGING OUT WITH THE RICH ARABS. Piece of shite!!!!

You can view the tape on ABC news.

  43. ALEJCARO says:

    Two thoughts:
    1. What the Right has done is to try and change the definition of torture: “Waterboarding” is not torture, Ergo, although we waterboard, we don’t torture. This is how George W. Bush was able to say ‘USA does not torture’, and now his parrots, i.e. Hannity, et.al, are repeating the meme that waterboarding is not torture and therefore America does not torture.

    2. Shepard Smith is gone from Fox Republican News. They don’t countenance disagreement very much there. They’ll find a way to get him out. Give him less than a year.

  44. DRxJapanese Beetle says:

You know, it’s quite easy to volunteer for “torture” when you know exactly when it will take place, you know you will not be killed, and you know the interrogators will cease upon hearing the “safe” word.
If you’re serious, Mr. InSannity, may I suggest you be confined to a small 8X8 concrete cell, with constant sleep deprivation.
May I also suggest that someone whose heart doesn’t care if you live or day be the administrator. May I further suggest that it be done no less than 156 times throughout your ordeal.
THAT I will donate mucho $$$ for!

  52. Scottsdalian says:

TP should conduct a fundraiser to pay for Hannity’s waterboarding. I’ll gladly contribute.

But Hannity’s waterboarding must be shown live on Fox TV.

Let them crazy folk see what waterboarding really is.

Here is a video of a journalist getting waterboarded (he is VERY cocky before waterboarding…scared shitless afterwards):

No, that might drown the rats and therefore constitute animal abuse. We are libs around here, after all. Gotta think about the poor animals.

  55. cwillis says:

Shep Smith is an interesting character. His mockery of Glenn Beck’s insanity (”He will be joining us from his ‘Fear Chamber’ directly!”), his eye-rolling at Joe the Plumber’s ignorance, and now this eruption (be sure to listen to his sarcastic muttering afterward also) indicate an independent streak that clashes with the usual fuhrerprinzip in effect at Fox. Shep’s been openly warned about it (Chris Wallace: “I for one am on the Glenn Beck bandwagon and I advise you to join it as well”) and I wonder just how much longer he’ll last.

  56. tomcat27834 says:

Hannity is a disgrace not only to himself but to the brave soldiers fighting for our freedom.

Agreed, Hannity is ONLY an entertainer (of sorts) however to make light of waterboarding ie., torture is inexcusable be it from the ass-clown Hannity or anyone else for that matter.

  57. Carol A says:

What an ass! Only if Hannity offers to be waterboarded six times a day for a month will I make a contribution. This is just another example of a Fox News phoney trying to diminish torture. One by one, they attempt to reduce the horror of what was done by their guys Bush and Cheney to “slapping” people around and keeping them awake with loud music.

  58. hillbillyjihad says:

  59. Progressive Republican says:

    1. Coming from somebody who actually knows a few soldiers, I can honestly say they don’t want anything to do with hannity’s dumbass.
    2. America is supposed to have the moral high ground, so we should act like that. Torturing enemies is barbaric. Stooping down to that is…..well, unamerican because in the past we never really did that.

  60. ladybastet says:

If Hannity is actually gonna do it I will sooooo pour that water on him!!!!!

  61. squidbilly says:

Just another example of the GOP and their ilk falling apart.

Faux News may be something to watch just for the infighting.

  62. Hoodathunktick says:

I don’t believe for a moment Hannity will do it. What I would rather see is a reputable news program that would demonstrate the actuality of waterboarding on a volunteer, preferably a member of the armed forces who has previously been through the SERE program. With lots of disclaimers about “kids, don’t try this at home!”

    Unless Sean is visiting.

  63. Eykis says:

Kkklannity’s, “I’ll be water-boarded for charity” is about as sick as waterboarding – that shows what an ignorant, egomaniacal tool he is — shows no respect for our military personnel who were “ordered” to do this by the Bush Cabal and it is a disgrace. I am calling the Faux Noise sponsors to help bring down their revenue a little more….any joiners?

  64. winddancer says:

If any of you watched Shep Smith report on Katrina (and he was down on the ground there), you will recognize that this is one of the few Fox Nets Network people that actually has a heart and a fair amount of common sense.

You wingnuts always seek to distract from the issue whether Americ SHOULD or should NOT torture by subtly implying that we Progressives who do NOT WANT America to torture support the heinous methods of those who kidnap, behead or torture innocent civilians overseas…You imply that we somehow support them as if it is only a black-white one or the other thing. For wingnuts who only see the world in black and white, it is not surprising that they would jump to such conclusions.

  73. hillbillyjihad says:

It wasn’t my intention to do comparison, I thought what happened at Abu-Gharib was wrong, I do not have that big a problem with waterboarding though. I just wanted an honest assesment of what “horrific was?. If you just hate Bush or republicans, just say so. If someone was guilty of a crime that 90 percent of the country KNEW was a crime, you would have a case

how would the country be destroyed? Would it be horrific destruction?

  81. Anders says:

Napolitano has been a harsh critic of the Bush admin the last 8 years, I remember hearing him deriding the torture regime years ago, he’s more of a libertarian than a conservative, most certainly not to be put in the Hannity/O’Reilly catagory, they’re just republican statist cheerleaders who have absolutely no set of values other than to cheer on the republican party.

  82. hillbillyjihad says:

All this reminds me of 1986, I remeber all the names they called Reagan, and While I was stationed in England , they all protested him and called him Hitler, and Nazi, war-monger, Hell I was scared, I thought we might be in a major war. I had always voted dem before that. Now whenever I think I might want to vote for one, I have a sign on my firdge that say “PERSHING II” and I come back to my senses. I remember Leahy whining and crying then about “Reagan” and how the Pershing II was going to “Upset” the soviets. All he was worried about was “upseting” the Soviets. What a colossal homo, I finally realized, If I have to die, at least it will be on my feet and not on my knees.

  83. dbadass says:

So about this destruction of the country thing. Just how would pursuing this torture problem “destroy” the country?

  84. Mycelium says:

    Hillbilly,

You’re obviously a person of strong conviction and are welcome to your views in my book. I know you only came here to stir up some trouble because you aren’t going to change any minds.

But this scares me a little

“Arise my hillbilly brothern..for the Jihad is upon us”

What the he!! is that supposed to mean?

(BTW I believe you meant “brethren”)

  85. hillbillyjihad says:

The torture “problem” doesn’t seem to be a problem with most Americans, they had there say when they gave the democrats the majority, Basically they said.”We are not sure exactly what is going on, But we think maybe it shouldn’t be, Plus we got some issues, so we will give you Dems chance”..So if you want to blow it, Spend all that political capital going after people in the last Admin for something that probably a majority of Americans think is political retibution rather that a “search for the truth”

  86. dbadass says:

most people die on their backs in hospitals but good luck with that on your feet thing

  87. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Shep Rocks and he is right…

Shep opposes torture. In fact, he’s about as appalled and insulted by the actions of the Bush administration as anybody on the left.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

I never said I liked what happened, But I want to know what your definition of “horrific” is.

Pretty much anything that falls outside of the bounds of common human decency. I’m sure it’s a broad area out there, but I don’t have to get into it because I don’t advocate crossing that line.

If we need to have a public policy discussion about which subhuman, murderous and degrading acts are worse or better than the others, then we’ve already gone waaay off the mark.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

or do you truly think the naked guy, or dogs barking at a man is just as horrific as beheading a man because he serves in the national guard…

You’d be amazed how easily someone can slip from one to the other.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Fascism: A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship. totalitarian philosophy of government that glorifies the state and nation and assigns to the state control over every aspect of national life.

Right: the Bush Administration. It’s also worth mentioning that fascism always has been and always will be a right-wing phenomenon.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

taking time and effort to go after people, who lost an election because of what they did and “MAY” now be illegal, will split the country even more.

That’s what they said when Ford pardoned Nixon. That’s what they said after Iran-Contra. And yet here we are, right back there again…

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

If someone was guilty of a crime that 90 percent of the country KNEW was a crime, you would have a case…

99% of us knew it was a crime before Bush & Co. started saying maybe it wasn’t. Just because your moral “values” sway back and forth with the political wind doesn’t mean that crimes aren’t crimes.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

If I have to die, at least it will be on my feet and not on my knees.

Well why don’t you go do that in a method that doesn’t take all the rest of us down with you, ‘k?

  88. hillbillyjihad says:

That is my call to anyone out there to come support me and jump in, plus it sounds cooler than just “hey, can anyone back me up?”

  89. dbadass says:

So there really any issues relative to the nation being destroyed afterall, is that what you are saying?

  90. Mycelium says:

“That is my call to anyone out there to come support me and jump in, plus it sounds cooler than just “hey, can anyone back me up?”

    Good luck with that

  91. hillbillyjihad says:

Any Philosophy that supports Centralized control of the economy (TARP, FirinG GM CEO, Taxpayer money to banks, bailingout newspapers)a single charismatic leader and supports sensorship (Fairness doctrine) is fascism no matter what ideological side it comes from,

  92. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

The torture “problem” doesn’t seem to be a problem with most Americans, they had there say when they gave the democrats the majority, Basically they said.”We are not sure exactly what is going on, But we think maybe it shouldn’t be, Plus we got some issues, so we will give you Dems chance”

That was the case when we weren’t sure what exactly was going on. That condition is rapidly changing.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

So if you want to blow it, Spend all that political capital going after people in the last Admin for something that probably a majority of Americans think is political retibution rather that a “search for the truth”

You really think all this makes the Dems look bad? Man, I’d love to see somebody try these kinds of arguments in a criminal trial. The judge and jury would be laughing their asses off.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

That is my call to anyone out there to come support me and jump in…

Crying for help already? This is going to be an easy one.

  93. dbadass says:

speaking of leaders do you have any idea who the skipper of the GOP might be?

  94. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Any Philosophy that supports Centralized control of the economy (TARP, FirinG GM CEO, Taxpayer money to banks, bailingout newspapers)a single charismatic leader and supports sensorship (Fairness doctrine) is fascism no matter what ideological side it comes from,

Bush did all of the things you listed there. Except for the fairness doctrine, which nobody on the left supports.

And no, Fascism has always been, is, and will always be, a right-wing phenomenon.

  95. hillbillyjihad says:

I never understood lefties objections to everything Bush did in the war on Terror, Seems to me If left has its way,, we would never know if a nuclear device was going to be set off in a major city. I am pretty sure that the Jihadist are not in a cave currently plotting the attack on the RNC headquarter in Topeka, Kansas, or nuking that wheat feild in Nebraska because it is owned by a republican, seems to me they would want to devastate NY, LA, Baltimore, Boston, where all the lib voters are, So Basically Bush made sure republicans would lose by keeping all your voters alive. What a great guy, and very self-sacrificing

  96. ElBruce says:

    AmericasBack Says:

Look Billy, there is a movement taking place on our planet right now. The biggest movement in the history of man. Why don’t you do some soul-searching and join us? Hate is not the way man. Killing is not the answer. …

Good point here, AB. The wingnuts see the sides being drawn as America vs. the Jihadis. But in reality, it’s the people who uphold standards of common human decency (on both sides) vs. the evil bastards (on both sides). Each person chooses for themselves which side they’re on.

  97. hillbillyjihad says:

And DO NOT listen to the press, Fox news, MSNBC or anyone on the “skipper” of the Republicans, We at the grass roots are trying to bring Jeff Flake out of the shadows, he is the only True Conservative of the bunch, just like my real dem friends, we are sorely disappointed in what we have right now, and yes, Most dems I know are disappointed in Pelosi, Reid, and especially Murtha. I think Boehner is a real tard, and I cannot stand McConnell,

  98. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

I never understood lefties objections to everything Bush did in the war on Terror…

We’re Americans. Americans are supposed to be good and not evil.

If you want to live in a country that doesn’t respect moral standards so it can “win,” then I suggest you go find another country that’ll oblige you. I hear North Korea’s accepting immigrants these days.

    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Seems to me If left has its way,, we would never know if a nuclear device was going to be set off in a major city.

None of the things BushCo did were effective intelligence gathering measures. If the only investigative tools you can think of involve blowing people up and torturing them, then you don’t know a damn thing about investigating (and you watch too many action movies for your own good).

I feel a hell of a lot safer with Obama’s approach than I did with Bush’s.

  99. hillbillyjihad says:

Well, That is too funny, I am surely not on the side of evil. I wish it destroyed thoroughly. So your words do not fall on deaf ears. However My problem with the type of people who post on these websites is their inability to listen, to automatically ascribe the worst traits to those who do not march in lockstep with them and to turn a blind eye to the corruption and theivery of the people they support..So the lines are drawn and we shall see, I live in JD Heyworths district and he lost in 2006, mainly because we true conservatives knew he had turned into a typical politician, so we just did not vote so we got Harry Mitchell, He is no conservative and I disagree with about 90 percent of what he says, BUT HE IS HONEST

  100. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

We at the grass roots are trying to bring Jeff Flake out of the shadows, he is the only True Conservative of the bunch…

You guys trot out a new “only true Conservative” like twice a year. Whatever happened to Ron Paul?
    .

    hillbillyjihad Says:

…and yes, Most dems I know are disappointed in Pelosi, Reid, and especially Murtha.

Can’t deny that. We hold our leaders accountable to us, rather than lying about how we feel about them or continually throwing them over for the fresh new thing. We don’t feel the need to voice nothing but praise for the people we put in positions of power. That’s because we’re true Americans. And y’all are not.

  101. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

I am surely not on the side of evil.

Torturing people is evil. You are on the side of torturing people. You are on the side of evil.

    Also, 2 + 2 = 4.

  102. hillbillyjihad says:

Ron Paul? He is a strict constitutionalist, which i like. But I think he may be a racist. So until he can assure us he is not, he will be sidelined

  103. hillbillyjihad says:

Just because Holder says it does not make it true,
    Torture:
    1. the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.
    2. a method of inflicting such pain.
    3. Often, tortures. the pain or suffering caused or undergone.
    4. extreme anguish of body or mind; agony.
    5. a cause of severe pain or anguish

So what has occured that meets this definition?

  104. pete says:

There are two kinds of people who torture other people, Cowards and sociopaths, though the two are not mutually exclusive. Those who anonymously defend the practice on blogs, or cheer lead for it on their TV show, are several steps below those two on the evolutionary ladder.

Plus. As soon as some sick phuck starts babbling about “true conservative” or “true Christian”? It’s time to pull the plug on the conversation. Anyone stupid, and bigoted, enough to utter such banal BS is really beyond help. All we can do is hope their children reject the crap they get force-fed.

P.S. I hope Shep Smith has an updated resume handy. I don’t see a simple apology to Rush saving his FAUX gig.

  105. ElBruce says:

Thanks for asking: waterboarding, cramming people in small boxes and putting bugs on them, slamming people against walls, beating them, beating them to death, putting them in stress positions for hours or days at a time, putting them in sensory deprivation conditions for days or weeks at a time, extended sleep deprivation, extreme temperature fluctuation… and whatever we find out about tomorrow.

  106. hillbillyjihad says:

Does not meet the criteria, In my opinion..anyway, I willleave you with this Un-PC video, that is Sad, yet hysterical

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xddhKQje41M&feature=related

  107. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Does not meet the criteria, In my opinion…

    Wow.

And you maintain you’re not evil? Oh let me guess, killing and torturing people doesn’t meet the criteria of “evil” for you?

All of those meet the fourth and/or fifth definition you supplied. All of them cause or risk permanent mental and/or physical harm to the victim, as well.

  108. ElBruce says:

    hillbillyjihad Says:

Does not meet the criteria, In my opinion…

Just want to underscore this: my list included “beating them to death.”

    You make me sick.

  109. PFWoody488 says:

Tell Hannity that it will last only a short period of time.
Tell him he can ‘tap out’ if it gets too intense.
Then waterboard him for TWICE the time and IGNORE his tap out.
Also, keep him awake for the week before, slap him around, slam him into walls and put him in stress positions.
He deserves the Full Meal Deal…Supersized!

I would even consent to watching Fox to see that.

  110. fire _ant_chavis says:

I’m watching Keith Olbermann and he’s just challenged Hannity – $1000 to charity for every second he can withstand being waterboarded. Let’s see if Hannity is 4real now!

  111. neoconsrscum says:

I’d pay to see Sean Hannity waterboarded- triple if I can choose the liquid- goat urine, or Red Man tobacco spit, anyone?

  112. dbadass says:

  113. ElBruce says:

Hey, here’s a fun story about a U.S. soldier who apparently committed suicide mere days after objecting to abusing detainees.

The official probe of her death would later note that earlier she had been “reprimanded” for showing “empathy” for the prisoners. One of the most moving parts of the report, in fact, is this: “She said that she did not know how to be two people; she … could not be one person in the cage and another outside the wire.”

She was then assigned to the base gate, where she monitored Iraqi guards, and sent to suicide prevention training. “But on the night of September 15th, 2003, Army investigators concluded she shot and killed herself with her service rifle,” the documents disclose.

The official report revealed that a notebook she had written in was found next to her body, but blacked out its contents.

There are going to be a lot of aspects to this whole sorry episode of history that we haven’t even dreamed of, before it all comes out.

    .

    brothabill Says:

    (poop)

OK. You’re for all the bad stuff the U.S. gubmint does but you hate the U.S. Kind of proves my point.

Why were we supposed to be listening to you again?

  114. texasman5002 says:

To have hannity water boarded is to be by a army specilist cameras from all channels running and no games by fox ,idf fox does thier own waterboarding it a hoax, too many fox peopel e are rebelling on tv for viewer to see fox is near the end of their rope oreliiy is firts hannity and beck dffor sure

  115. leneeg says:

Somebody pass the water bucket and pour it down Hannity’s gaping mouth.

  116. notreads says:

I’ve had so much fun “visiting” here and reading all your liberal rantings…filled to the cutesie limits with fun little oh-so-original names (Fake News being the most favored…I LOOOOVE how Fox consistently beats CNN & MSNBC – COMBINED – by miles!! I also loooove how you children actually rely on two putrid slugs like J. Garofalo & Bathtub Boy..Rachel Maddow, etc. for intelligent analysis, facts, and commentary. And see? I won’t use any of those silly names like Go-barf-alo..or Olberbrow. And I won’t even mention how those immature, pseudo-intellectual-brats looked & acted like crude teens in the locker room with all the teabagging “jokes”/slurs. ON NAT’L NEWS PROGRAMS! omg..wise journalism at its very best! what FOOLS they made of themselves :) Anyway, I loved looking at all the juvenile hatred, poison, and “yeaahh…let’s waterboard him” rah rah rah! You guys are ALL such hypocrites and phonies. The party of compassion…LOL. You are actually the party of socialism, shred the constitution, wussy foreign policy, kowtowing to dictators & maniacs, hate America first spoiled-brat-ism, gullible to believe in the global warming BS..oh, excuse me..make that “climate change” now, since the earth has plans of its own & Albore can’t quite keep up with earth’s NATURAL progressions and cycles, party of TOTAL IRRESPONSIBILITY & ENTITLEMENT, party of LIARS (obama, pelosi, frank, dodd being the worst), party of hysterics, screeching, make-believe…party of death, party of welfare…oh hell…i wish it wasn’t so late, because i could go on for HOURS if i weren’t so tired. Goodnight everyone. It’s been sooo much fun. Now all of you go at each other with liberal glee, because I registered JUST so i could say “hi”…and then UNregister!!!! Don’t bother going after me, because I’m out of here. The stench of deceit (self-deceit and otherwise) is just too odious for me. Maybe I’ll see you all sometime out there in the HELL that obama is making of our country. Annnnd…just remember how MANY times you all were warned.
PS Now if you guys REALLY want a good laugh, check out pelosi pledging..PLEDGING..WITH HER FREAKING RIGHT HAND UP, like she was in court..but PLEDGING..and PROMISING..to Wolf Blitzer (and all of US) that there would be “NO EARMARKS” or PORK..or “anything like that”. LOL…pathological liar. And BTW, she’s doing it again…she knew ALL ABOUT the methods of getting info. In on ALL the top-secret briefings. She is one disgusting waste of flesh & blood. (hmm..i wonder if the minutes of those meetings will “conveniently disappear”??)
