Fox not granted a question at Obama’s press conference.

In tonight’s press conference, Obama spent nearly a full hour answering questions from reporters, who represented media organizations such as the Detroit News, the Associated Press, BET, and all three cable networks — ABC, NBC, and CBS. One outlet that didn’t get a question? Fox News, whose affiliate was the only network station that decided not to air the prime-time news conference. Obama called on Fox News White House Correspondent Major Garrett in his previous two press conferences.

  4. EndTheGOP says:

Yeah, well, he didn’t grant a question to Entertainment Tonight either. Seems entirely appropriate to me not to grant questions to the fringe “entertainment” media.

  6. pintosahab says:

    And rightfully so.

  7. Jane E. Schneider says:

Since Faux wasn’t airing the press conference, IMO they should have been ignored. Of course, with the limited time and the numerous reporters there, not to mention the President’s thoughtful manner of speaking, the majority of reporters were effectively ignored, too.

You idiots are so manipulated you have no idea how you’re being screwed. First of all you don’t know that Obama got into Harvard through affirmative action you’re just guessing. And he certainly didn’t get the job as the Editor of the Harvard Law Review through affirmative action. That goes to the student with the highest grades.

All kinds of idiot rich kids get into schools because their parents went there first. And if that isn’t enough then they give donations so the school looks the other way. But you think you’re being cheated by affirmative action students who are still smarter than the average legacy admission.

  48. The Republic of Hymenoptera Stupidity says:

    Progressive Republican Says:

Sadly I think hes right, Fox always has higher ratings than its counter parts.
    ____________

Actually, Fox’s numbers trail the free networks.

As for cable, Fox is part of the basic package, whilst the other cable news outfits charge a premium, which could explain why Fox out-polls them… the cost factor alone.

And when you take into account the way Fox bills itself as THE ALTERNATIVE to all other news outlets, Fox’ total audience is rather small, compared to the whole.

I’m not sure why trolls always claim Fox is THE NUMBER ONE NETWORK, when clearly it’s not, and why that even matters for so many issues.

However, we do know Fox is the ONLY “news outfit” to ever defend itself in court by claiming it has a Constitutionally protected right to lie… they can just flat-out make up sh*t and call it “news”… quite an accomplishment!!!

And the longer a cable TV stays on my station the higher my Nielsen ratings go because of the way CUME is figured it appears I have many more viewers than there actually are..

There are surely some Republics who are not stupid. For instance… Erik Prince, the guy who owns what used to be Blackwater. Being a Republic has worked out great for him. Made him rich. That may be a lot of things, but stupid ain’t one of ‘em.

To the Concervative hung up on President Obama’s smarts, he never put his race on the Harvard application. So your assumption that he only got into Harvard based on affirmative action is false. As noted on this board Obama graduated at the top of his class he could not do that without smarts. On another note President Obama just finished paying off his college loans a couple of years ago so that shuts down another one of your false assumptions.

Just a brief word on affirmative action, it only gets you in the door. If you do not have the smarts you will not be able to keep up the grades therefore you are out. So equating affirmative action with smarts is not a valid argument. By the way, women have been the biggest beneficiaries of AF. As for the teleprompter, he only uses it on prepared statements. You conservatives need to remember that the Bushies and Ronnie Reagan all used teleprompters. Therefore, I am not sure what your dig is here. President Obama has done more Q&A sessions then GWB did in his whole term.

Obama entered Harvard Law School in late 1988. He was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review at the end of his first year,[34] and president of the journal in his second year.[35] During his summers, he returned to Chicago, where he worked as a summer associate at the law firms of Sidley & Austin in 1989 and Hopkins & Sutter in 1990.[36] After graduating with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude[37][38] from Harvard in 1991, he returned to Chicago.[34] Obama’s election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review gained national media attention[35] and led to a publishing contract and advance for a book about race relations,[39] though it evolved into a personal memoir. The manuscript was published in mid-1995 as Dreams from My Father.[39]

Good morning Dummy! You do realize the “bailout” was really a loan and that money has to be paid back, right? And you do realize that GM is now owned mainly by the Union at @ 55% and the US government owns the rest, right? Once GM gets back on it’s feet, it will most likely buy out America’s portion. How does that sound?

And remember when Ronnie Raygun yelled at the air traffic controller Union members to get back to work back in the 1980’s? Say wha? ABSOLUTE ABUSER OF POWER! How dare he tell US citizens to get back to work! Who the hell did he think he was, huh?!!!!

Oh wait! You’re part of the 21% of republicans in America! You’re stupid. Nevermind.

Still concerned about the use of a teleprompter? Wow neocon, you’re reaching! Of course, George Bush used a teleprompter for 8 years, Sarah Palin used a teleprompter to campaign and as Governor of Alaska, McCain can’t function even with a teleprompter, and Rush Limbaugh because of years of snorting OXYCONTIN up his nose has to rely on a teleprompter because his ears are shot!

Did you understand President Obama’s responses to his questions last night? Oh wait! They were too intellectual for the republican party to understand! You ninnies are used to hearing cowboy jokes as an answer to deflect the truth away! Nevermind.

  143. Pennsylvanianne says:

    Conservativeforprogress@ 18:
If anyone was an affirmative action student, it was George W. Bush. He got into Yale through the oldest affirmative action program in the country, the legacy program where sons and daughters of alumni are admitted despite less-than-stellar grades. How he got into Harvard graduate business school with a C- average is not clear, but he obviously learned nothing at Harvard because he ran every business save one but including the U.S. into the ground. That one was the Texas Rangers, where he managed to have a stadium built on the backs of taxpayers. And as for the teleprompter issue, you can’t use a teleprompter at a press conference because you have no idea what the questions will be. (Silly of posters to even bring that up.) It was such a pleasure to listen to Obama answer questions last night. He spoke in complete sentences and actually answered each question! I could never listen to Bush’s press conferences without wincing in pain the whole way through his attempts to answer questions other than the ones asked.

  144. Rodeskawler says:

The Repuglicons have nothing positive to say about President Obama, so they attack him relentlessly with their trivia, hate, and mindlessness. Seriously, does anyone really believe the American public will oppose Obama simply because he uses a teleprompter during his delivery of prepared speeches? I think not. You Repugs out there are achieving your leadership goals; reduction of your party to a small group of hard-core fascists we’ll be able to drown in a cement pond. The Repugs’ chickens are, indeed, coming home to roost. Where’s your “permanent major” Mr. Turd Blossom?

Since Faux has been identified as the propaganda arm of the Repuglicon (National Socialist) Party, it’s incumbent on liberals to ignore them, totally. Why should they be legitimized and treated with respect by Liberals when they’ve demonstrated their hate and disrespect for anything sane.

I agree with the sentiment that Faux should be banned from the White House, period.

  148. smidget says:

Of course he didn’t. It was a pressconference, not a tabloid Q&A. Hell, even the National Enquirer has more journalistic integrity than Faux. They shouldn’t even be allowed at the events, because they aren’t a news network. They’re legally allowed to lie without telling anyone they’re lying. The President should ignore them completely. It would have been better had he actually mentioned precisely why he wasn’t going to take a question from them at the very beginning of the conference. It would have been hilarious. But alas, he’s too classy and diplomatic to do something like that.

  149. ElBruce says:

    RealityCheck Says:

…and it took an hour for the Teleprompter to answer them!

But he didn’t use a teleprompter to answer them. That wouldn’t have been possible. In fact, bringing up the already-ridiculous “teleprompter” thing in reference to a conference where he spoke extemporaneously at length would be a bad idea even if you did have some sort of actual point.

The reason it took him a long time was because he had a lot to say. Didn’t you hear any of the many things he said? You lot are profoundly, staggeringly, stupid.

You are never going to regain political relevance until you start admitting some basic, blatantly obvious facts of reality. As long as you hoot and jeer that somebody like Barack Obama is unintelligent or uneloquent, nobody – not just libs but nobody – is going to listen to a word any of you say about anything else. That means fewer votes every election cycle.

There’s nothing wrong about not giving a News Organization the opportunity for question if they are not carrying the News Conference.

Now they just blatantly sensationalize or add elements to the copy to support the story they want it to be as opposes to what it is. For example. Take a non-news item. Some poor little kid ate too much cake at the birthday party and got sick. Not news.
Fox it up: (Graphics in RED and File tape of Ambulances)

You know, I’ve read most of what you dim-witted lefties have written about Fox News, but two things are obvious: Obama simply didn’t call on the Fox News reporter because Fox News turned down his request to air the THIRD orchestrated speech (this was no press conference) in THREE months, and Oblunder was simply pouting. That’s one a month, which is totally unprecedented, and WAY too much from ANY president. My God, the guy has a case of diarrhea of the mouth for pete-sake! The other thing that’s patently obvious is that while you sit there and wring your hands over your hatred for Fox News, you never mention the fact that they are the NUMBER ONE cable news show, and their ratings supremely kick the butts of NBC, CBS, ABC, CNBC, MSNBC and probably a couple of others COMBINED! The mainstream media’s ratings are in the toilet! O’Reilly has the most popular cable news program and has been number one for an unprecedented 101 months straight! I actually think it was pretty generous that Fox news broadcast this “Obama 100 Day Media Love Fest” (How Enchanting!) live on their news channel. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have wasted the time.

  171. democracyforall says:

Hatred for news stations is wrong. A very immature, arrogant and undemocratic stance against Americans says that any one news station should be denied questions. As Americans, we all have a right to hold our government accountable, whether we totally agree or not.
