Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh slammed the GOP’s “listening tour” re-branding effort, saying that the conservative movement does not need to listen to the American people. Rather, Limbaugh declared, “We need a teaching tour.”
Asked about Limbaugh’s rejection of the GOP listening tour today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) did not take issue with Limbaugh’s remarks, saying only that the GOP’s objective was to help “educate the American people.” The change in rhetoric appears to have been enough to placate Limbaugh, who strongly endorsed Pence’s new goal on his radio show today:
LIMBAUGH: That is exactly what I’m saying! Scarborough and these guys are trying to twist this. And even Pence says, “Well, we’re going to listen.” Who are they going to listen to? They’re going to listen to experts about cap and trade so they can educate the American people about the truth of it. A teaching tour!
“If you don’t like ‘teaching’…then call it a ‘reminder tour’ or whatever, but someone has to go out and teach the truth about what Obama is doing,” Limbaugh concluded. Watch it:
Last week, Pence described the tour’s goals somewhat differently, telling Fox’s Shepard Smith, “[W]e’re going to listen, we’re going to learn.” Watch it:
Hey Limbaugh, you went deaf from too much Hillbilly HeroinOxycontin, remember that truth?
May 5th, 2009 at 3:01 pmThey should just call it what it really is: A re-education tour.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:02 pmPence attended the Limbaugh Testicle Festival.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:03 pmOnly slightly OT but poetic:
So Savage and Phelps assume their rightful place amongst the haters and scum of neo-nazis and murderers.
These guys eat Steak-and-kidney pie and Grorty Dick, yet they can’t stomach Weiner and Phelps. Hopefully Limbaugh will be next. Well done.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:04 pmKiss the ring Mike Pence. You are now a made man.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:05 pmMaybe, if they go out and listen to the Teabag Nation’s hysterical, paranoid rantings, they’ll do just like ol’ Arlen Specter chose to do.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:05 pmDidnt Michele Bachmann call this:
Yupp.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:07 pmNo, nearly all of those remaining in the party are hysterical paranoids, themselves.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:07 pmRush, what in the heck do you know about the truth?
…except when you bend it in order to serve your own agenda.
God, what a blowhard.

May 5th, 2009 at 3:09 pm1. Shouldn’t they be listening to the American people?
2. Are they going to be using unbiased “experts”? Or should I consider myself foolish for even asking?
May 5th, 2009 at 3:09 pmMay 5th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Be sure to take along last summer’s supply and demand charts for oil and gasoline. They showed “Drill Here, Drill Now” was economic fiction.
That’s right, the plan is not to educate but to tell voters how great the Repugnican’t party is.
Maybe they’ll bring Karen Hughes from Burson-Marsteller in on the project. How did she do educating Muslim countries?

May 5th, 2009 at 3:11 pmBlimpBaugh has it all backwards..He wants what Michele Bachmann didnt, and thats to have re-education camps, by politicians, to teach government philosophy they put forward thats the same as it was all the way back to 1994…*Yawn*
Well, this means Limbaugh is irrelevant, he has bascially admitted he cant ‘teach’ his listeners the ‘truth’ he made up.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:15 pmAnd Pence kissed Limbaugh’s pimpled butt, right on schedule.
So the GOP abandons any idea of listening to the American people, in favor of marketing stale ideas in shiny new packaging. They tried this in 2008 after they had their butts handed to them in 2006. And the fact that didn’t work out so well isn’t going to stop them from trying it again.
Republicans never learn. And they truly are going the way of the Whigs.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:15 pm“*Someone’s* gotta go out & catapault the propaganda!”
May 5th, 2009 at 3:15 pmSilly kids…a turd is not inflatable
May 5th, 2009 at 3:16 pmYou here that Pence, Limbaugh wants people to listen to you and you had better listen to him cause he wants you to teach the people what he taught you.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
No one needs to be REMINDED that FAT A@@ RUSH LIMPBALLS IS THE HEAD OF THE GOP AND HE BETTER BOW AND PLACATE so as not to offend FATBOY and that is why you hear Pence stammering and stuttering before he is capable of concocting a sentence which is filled with more BS.
They aren’t even going to really listen. They think they can continue to ’shine up their image’ and never get to the root cause of their problems. Give it up already! Unless you are a lunatic, crazy, demented, or fanatic, you are going to continue to TUNE THEM OUT AS IN A BAD NIGHTMARE! They need to get over themselves.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:18 pm“someone has to go out and teach the truth about what Obama is doing,” Limbaugh concluded.
Umm… Rush has a nationally syndicated radio show, where he talks for three hours a day about this shit.
How ineffective must he be if someone else has to “go out and teach the truth about what Obama is doing”?
Or maybe it’s not really “truth” that they’re peddling?
May 5th, 2009 at 3:20 pmYou, who are on the road
May 5th, 2009 at 3:20 pmMust have a code that you can live by
And so, become yourself
Because the past is just a good-bye
Republicans don’t care to listen to the American People because we want:
( not necessarily in order)
1 Clean Air
2 Clean Water
3 Unpolluted Soil
4 Affordable Health Care
5 Freedom from Foreign Oil
6 Local Jobs, Not jobs overseas for multinational corporations
7 Our Country not to Torture
8 Good Schools
9 A Decent Retirement
10 A Place to Live
11 A Safe Food Supply
…But it is the Republicans that need to educate us … /snark
May 5th, 2009 at 3:23 pm“conservative movement does not need to listen to the American people. Rather, Limbaugh declared, “We need a teaching tour.”
THAT SAYS IT ALL FOLKS….CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU JUST READ?????
What is the use for elections???? if we the people can’t be heard?????
Is this the same teaching tour Hitler did for years running up to the second world war?????
Hey Limpballs….you forget, the politicans work for US!!!!! The people who elect them !!!!! If the politicians don’t listen they get FIRED the next time we have an election!!!
Just say the truth Limpballs….you want a corp fascist country like Hitler had. Just admit it….you fat piece of chicken shite!!!
May 5th, 2009 at 3:24 pmThe best and brightest repub idea in years, more like decades: listening to the people, and Boss Hogg shts all over it. Pathetic.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:25 pmThe CPAC had a 13-year old speaker and it was scary. So, they’re already re-educating (brainwashing) the “youth”. He recited the talking points very well – like a good lil’ Rushpuppet. If I were there, I would have asked if he received his “special” knife yet.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:31 pmThis is textbook authoritarianism.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:35 pmBeached whale lies gasping
May 5th, 2009 at 3:40 pmGolden microphone blowhole
Nothing to see here
We should re-name the “Listening Tour” to “SHUT UP and Listen Tour”. These GNOP politicians were doing more talking than listening from what I could see.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:40 pmHAIL TO THE CHIEF!!
May 5th, 2009 at 3:41 pmhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkwcIlQbKDA
Lush Limpballs is doing us all a favor, so let’s keep letting him spew feces out of his face hole.
The more Americans are reminded that the G-NO-P tongue lashes the rancid festering boils on Lush’s rump, the more they will stay away.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:41 pmline right up and listen to tub-o-lard lintballs. it has worked so well in the last two election cycles.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:42 pmSo, Pence knuckled under and ate Limbaugh’s shit sandwich. Now, he’s back in the Fat Boy’s good graces. My God, how low can they crawl? Theres’ not a single vertabrea in the entire right wing.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:47 pmThis doesn’t show much sophistication on Limbaugh’s part. The “listening tour” was always a propaganda ploy. Now, Limbaugh made them go and admit that far from hearing grass roots ideas they are simply trying to put out their message at these events. Looks like Limbaugh is about as good at leading the party as Steele.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:48 pmRepublicans never saw a problem that a good PR campaign couldn’t fix.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:52 pmnote to tub-o-lard-
May 5th, 2009 at 3:53 pmyou look like a big squishy turd bouncing around in a chair on the turdcam…fire the genius who came up with that bright idea
Rushbo was just upset that he was left out, you know being the leader and all you don’t like when your minions go ahead and do stuff without you.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:00 pmI seem to recall something Humpty-Dumpty said to Alice when she contradicted him on his use of a word and spin…
Humpty replied, “I say what a word means and whatever I say it means is the truth!” (close enough…)
This whole GOP “party” is beginning to reveal itself as one bad spin-off of Alice in Through the Looking Glass. Rude characters, fat cats, Mad Hatters, scared rabbits, queens, houses made of decks of cards, crying, whining walrus…i can see Limbaugh and Pence out for tea like Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:02 pmWhat this actually means is they won’t listen. And if they did, they still could not come up with any ideas. What this means is they will continue the way they have. What this means is they hope to re-educate the boneheads that still believe, or new ones that might believe. They will educate them to forget the last 14. The years that republicans ran it all into the ground.
They hope to throw dust in the eyes of the unwary or the stupid. With a base shrinking faster then the speed of light, they will say none of what we see actually happened under Bush. Business as usual.
They have elicited the help of not idea people, but of former media experts from the republican guard. As it was shown on the news they are to ATTACK OBAMA IDEAS AND OF HIS ADMINISTRATION. Not to come up with new needed ideas, but to depend on Dana Perino, for one, to attack. This is not a change but the same. This is also why they lost.
They call this the changing of a new America. What it is instead is a spotlight on THEIR INABILITY TO CHANGE THEIR OWN PARTY. Instead they want us to change what we need into what they want us to need. Pathetic.
And Limbaugh is part of this same old, thing. And as long as people listen, as long as republicans go to him, metaphorical hat in hand for his approval, things remain as is. They are so stupid they have not figured out where and with whom the problem lies. So Pence placated him.
A talk show host is the head of that party. An uneducated, drugged out, former alcoholic. A fat slob of an uncouth lump of lard. And when this whale blows a heart valve or gets caught with drugs again, what then?
I surely don’t want a one party system. We need two or three party’s. But with a gun at my head, there is no way I would ever vote republican.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:03 pmMay 5th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
Now, if only Kent Dorfman would throw up on Dean Limbaugh.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:16 pmSome people ask “what power does Rush have” over these people?
…he controls the “pork rind futures” for the country.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:22 pmGranted this is only a rumor…
Isn’t there someone in the republican party that can take Rush to the side and tell him that what he is doing is not in the best interest of the party?
I remember back in the campaign when the attacks on Obama were at fever pitch, the campaign sent out people to talk to Sharpton, Jackson and other ‘leaders’ in the black community to stay out of it for fear of marginalizing Sen. Obama as just a black candidate for black people.. and it worked.
The more him and Sarah Palin spout nonsense, the more they turn off moderates, independents and republican as well.
It seems they don’t want anyone who don’t think like them in the party… Rush has the base, now how about reaching out to others? There way of doing things boggle the mind.
This would be like Obama constantly campaigning in Harlem!
May 5th, 2009 at 4:25 pmNot sure that would really work, Shelley.
Rush doesn’t strike me as the type who really gives a flying fcuk about the interests of others.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:26 pmShellly Says
May 5th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Isn’t there someone in the republican party that can take Rush to the side and tell him that what he is doing is not in the best interest of the party?
___________________________________________________________
You’re making an assumption that Limbaugh cares about the Republican party. Or that he cares about the country.
Limbaugh cares about three things: 1) hanging onto his audience, which requires his feeding them red meat daily, 2) keeping his ratings up, which he needs his audience for, and 3) his multi-million dollar income, for which he needs to keep his ratings up.
This is ALL he cares about. He isn’t about to change a thing “in the best interest of the party” unless there’s something in it for his bottom line.
Sarah Palin isn’t helping the party, either, but she’s dumb enough to believe she is because the hard right ideology drivers are telling her she is. If she had any political strategy savvy at all, she’d realize she has to court the moderates. But she doesn’t, so she won’t.
And the lemmings that follow these people will just follow them into oblivion.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:46 pmBoss Limbaugh: “They’re going to listen to experts about cap and trade so they can educate the American people about the truth of it. A teaching tour!”
————————————-
One of the big “truths” that the Repubs want to teach the public is that the cost of cap and trade to individuals will be 10 time greater than what the author of the study they cite says it will be. I recall that ThinkProgress reported previously that after the author publicly voiced his objections to the misuse of his work, one of the GOP worthies called him a “nut.”
May 5th, 2009 at 4:49 pmCorrection: I see that it was Pence who said their going to teach the “truth” about cap and trade to the public, not Limbaugh. But I’m sure Rush approves of this re-education strategy.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:52 pmMay 5th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
RUSH I HATE YOUR FAT ASS YOUR PATHETIC EXCUSE AS A HUMAN BEING!!
I can’t stand him.
May 5th, 2009 at 5:14 pmAs far as I can tell, the Republofascists have been teaching us what it means to live in a third world country as a peasant.
Based on the last 2 elections, we have learned our lesson.
May 5th, 2009 at 5:28 pmRush, please stop taking the drugs. You look like the poster child for the “swine flu”. What a carrier, it’s making you retain liquids, or solids. I guess that’s why you are so full of it?
May 5th, 2009 at 6:00 pmPence, you’re going to listen and learn? I know, the Rush Limpbrain show.
Watch out, Morning Joek says. Don’t offend the pig/swine.
May 5th, 2009 at 6:03 pmIt seems unlikely that a party that cannot stand up to a radio personality is going to protect the free world from terrorists.
May 5th, 2009 at 6:10 pmMy, My, My! Where DID Rush get those magic GOP nose rings?
Feel the pain. Rush yanks the chain. And the GOP goes down the drain.
May 5th, 2009 at 6:17 pmI agree with Rush. We Republicans do need to go on an education tour. Just look at how ignorant America has become because of the leftist bias in the media. Its time people start to learn the facts. Feel free to view them for yourself at Heritage.org.
May 5th, 2009 at 7:13 pmIsn’t the country Bushed out enough? Who the hell is listening to Bush again? I don’t care which Bush it is, Bush needs to go away.
May 5th, 2009 at 7:24 pmThe political debate in modern times is not about the right-wing vs. the left-wing. Its is about right vs. wrong. You dumb ass liberals are always wrong. Do the RIGHT thing for once and VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!

Of COURSE you agree with Sir Oxymoron. You dont even KNOW what you think until Rush tells you. You are a moron. Too stupid to have ANY idea what you are talking about
The divide in this country is between actual adults with a functioning brainpan and ignorant brainwashed morons like YOU. Luckily the last two elections show that the people arent listening to you imbeciles anymore. Thank GOD you are irrelevant.
May 5th, 2009 at 9:05 pmhahaha Don’t be a jackass thinks uber-rich Rush Limbaugh speaks for him. Well, maybe Rush does, if he’s a one-percent of the top income rate of America… otherwise, not so much.
May 5th, 2009 at 9:28 pmMaybe don’t Be A Jackass (like himself) is wealthy- he can sit on his fat ass, clip coupons and wolf OxyContin by handfulls like his hero.

In response to LibertyLover 60 and eoconsrscumI 61:
May 6th, 2009 at 9:47 pmI am far from rich. I make $30,000 a year working for my state’s division of water pollution control (probably a much more “eco-friendly” and “green” job than your’s). I am poor, but living comfortably within my means. You don’t need to be a millionaire to see that Rush knows what is best for America. What is your justification for being a democrat? Are you members or a union, receive entitlements, or was it your emotions that got to you? Democrats vote their own self-interests more than I do. Also, I am not overweight, nor am I on prescribed medication for back pain.
In response to Alecto who wrote: I “VOTE REPUBLICANS” ALL GET HUNG!!!
May 6th, 2009 at 10:04 pmGood luck with that! A fair portion my fellow republicans observe our 2nd amendment rights, and from the sounds of your reply, rightful to do so.
