EXCLUSIVE AUDIO: Limbaugh Mocks Recession During Speech To Wealthy Right-Wing Donors
Last night, Rush Limbaugh came to Washington, D.C. to address the President’s Club Dinner, a meeting of wealthy donors and supporters of the Heritage Foundation. The audience included Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), as well as various millionaire trustees of the Heritage Foundation, like Thomas Saunders.
After more or less reprising his radio show routine, Limbaugh went on to brag about his $400 million contract with Clear Channel Communications. As he continued to gloat about his show’s success, Limbaugh mocked the idea that Americans are suffering, noting, “I’ve never had financially a down year” despite the “supposed” recession:
LIMBAUGH: But during all this growth I haven’t lost any audience. I’ve never had financially a down year. There’s supposedly a recession, but we’ve got – what is this May? Back in February we already had 102% of 2008 overbooked for 2009. [applause] So I always believed that if we’re going to have a recession, just don’t participate. [laughter]

Limbaugh is no stranger to belittling the poor and dismissing the economic troubles of others. In March, Limbaugh scoffed at a question on homeless children, asking, “Would somebody tell me the last time you saw a kid sleeping under a bridge?”
As Media Matters reported, even Limbaugh’s employer Clear Channel is struggling under the weight of the recession. Already this year, Clear Channel has “shed nearly 3,000 employees, or 12 percent of its workforce.” While Limbaugh jets around the country in his $54 million Gulfstream G550, laughing off the recession, does he even realize that his own bloated contract is contributing to the rising unemployment rate?

I live in Baltimore and the homeless problem is disturbing, to say the least. And, as for the cliche of the homeless living under a bridge, well, those are the lucky ones, that get shelter. Most of the people here just sleep on a steaming manhole for warmth, but then they get wet from the condensation, and catch pneumonia, and end up sick, with no place to get healthcare.
And the fact that so many are losing jobs adds to the numbers of homeless. No one CHOOSES to be homeless. It’s sick to mock it. But, Limboaheartconstricted is an ass. He was probably mocked in high school and needs to hand it back out to make himself feel better. Swine.

I can’t say I’ve ever actually seen a homeless child living under a bridge. I did spend the week after Easter providing meals to our local homeless shelter. I met a young man and his pregnant wife who could not find jobs, two older folk with jobs, that Lord willing, they will keep long enough to secure a home, two kids in high school, abandoned by their families for goodness knows what set of circumstances who were trying to hang on here long enough to graduate, and one crazy drunk guy.Probably the only one Limbaugh can actually identify with is the crazy drunk guy. Personally, I’ve managed to do okay in the past year, but since I depend on contracts, I am forced to cut my spending back until the next contract can come around. In a positive light, I have been able to cut back on transportation and have held back on buying a car, but I also see my money being reserved for short-term and necessary expenses, while I cannot invest in long-term alternatives.

Are you referring to “Operation CHAOS”? I thought that was the other way around; Rush wanted his “Dittoheads” to cross party lines to vote for Clinton in order to derail Obama’s string of primary victories. Of course, he didn’t stick to his guns when Clinton won a few states in April of 2008, and the plan not only failed, but the whole legality of it was brought into question.
Operation CHAOS was a big huge failure. Someone should remind Rush about that the next election cycle.

I don’t see people going on Paul-McCartney hate-fests, even though he’s “just an entertainer” and is worth more than Rush by a whole hell of a lot. Nor do I see anyone going on Bill-Gates-hate-fests, even though Gates would probably kill himself if he woke up tomorrow and only had as much money as Rush.
People dislike Rush Limbaugh because he’s a moronic piece of shit. I wouldn’t expect anyone with the gumption to defend this worthless sack of monkey snot to agree, so I’m not asking for an agreement, nor do I want some stupid response that is intended to make me see why Rush is just a fine member of society, because it won’t. I’ve heard too much of what he’s had to say, and it’s not his opinions, it’s the fact that he is a nasty, vitrolic, bigoted sack of LIES and shit he made up out of whole cloth. God himself couldn’t convince me that Rush is a decent human being, and the world will be a better place when he has left it. Period.
