People are “other than honorably” discharged all the time for spouting racist, and anti-American garbage, because it is a violation of the law. And guess what, she violated the law and got discharged.

Wiley . . . you want to talk about how awful all of our service members are and focus only on the negative, I as a navy wife find that offensive. My husband and 98% of the members of our armed services are honorable men and women who just want to do right by their country and their families.

I challenge you to find ANY group of people that doesn’t include people that hold extreme and often offensive ideas and beliefs, but it unfair of you to paint every service member and every Christian for that matter with the same brush as people that most of us would find offensive.

As a Christian and a Navy Wife, I have to tell you that I could care less about someone’s sexuality I feel like that is between them and God ALONE. Meaning, I no more want to hear about your sexuality than I want to hear about your bowel movements or any other inappropriate topic of conversation in the work place.

This is why I hate so many Christians.

Especially when all we have to do is mumble ‘god forgive me’ on our deathbeds and BOOM! We’re in Heaven. Weakest God I’ve ever known (No offense to the Christians here who aren’t being pompous bad words).

Anyways, now that I’ve made my point I promise to stop arguing about religion and getting on everyone’s nerves.

I did not say religion has nothing to do with this argument…I said that it shouldn’t. The same laws that protect my freedom of belief and religion should protect everybody, so long as their opinions do not harm others.

Back on topic, my point has been that I am not sure our military is ready for a repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell”. Many young men feel threatened on a very basic level when forced to spend time in close proximity with someone whose sexual orientation is different then their own. That is because of the culture, mores, and beliefs they come from. When you are in the military and deployed you can’t leave it at work and go home. To say this is like racial desegregation may not be correct. You can’t hide your race. Our military is too important to experiment with at the risk of loss of unit cohesion.

Those who wish to modify “Don’t ask don’t tell” should understand how archaic our military is. Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or UCMJ, the only acceptable sex is between a husband and a wife, in the missionary position. Anything else can result in charges. I am not making this up. Doing it doggy style can result in problems. “Don’t ask don’t tell” protects all our service men and women. As things stand now, what happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom.

On the other hand, she could have just started a new term and decided she didn’t want to, and did it for an easy way out. They don’t really say anything on the subject, and that could seriously change some people’s opinions. At least, their opinion about her.

It would be nice if people would mention these things.

Damniana, my point to you is two fold. First, you will get nowhere in a discussion bashing someone’s faith. That will only make them defensive. One’s core values are largely made up from one’s belief system, whether you subscribe to that belief system or no. Second, to attack a belief system by making statements that are demonstrably false only makes you look silly. Your foregoing is an example. The bunny is a pagan rites of spring symbol that has been Americanized and added to the Easter celebration. That does not mean that Easter came from a pagan tradition, as you claim. The Passover tradition that Easter is tied to dates back more then three thousand years, and is only coincidentally celebrated in the spring. Now, which records do you want to “properly” dig into?

See, this is exactly my point. Christianity is one of the only religions that claims everyone else is WRONG. Which is funny, because, most of Christianity was formed of all those Pagan religions that you hate so much. You know, Christmas?
