The conservatives have gone around the CIA for over 20 years when it didn't give them the analysis they wanted.

President, Bush seems to have pre-approved pardons for every war criminal with a Republican party card. McClatchy's Joe Galloway has the money quote:

When George W. Bush was the governor of Texas, the state investigated, indicted, convicted and sentenced to prison for 10 years a county sheriff who, with his deputies, had waterboarded a criminal suspect. That sheriff got no pardon from Gov. Bush.

Cheney's girl has spend some of her daddy's blood money he got from Haliburton. Blood money got from Haliburton stock from Cheney's pushing for a war against Iraq and his former company which he has stock in. His stock shot up when war was declared against Iraq. It's nice to have a former CEO give you a hundred million dollar (if not billion) no bid contract. If these people were in China they would be shot.

What gets me is that "Dizzy" kept referring to "daddy" as the Vice President. I didn't know it was a lifetime job? The MSM has a real bad habit of doing that to "the formers" - calling them Senator, Ambassador or Madam Secretary. The Vice President is Joe Biden, not Dick Cheney. Carville eluded to that a time or two by referring to Cheney as the former vive president. But "Dizzy" kept on doing the same stupid thing. One would thing the little "Rhodes Scholar" would have corrected that - somehow.

barfly, I thought (and still think) JIm Comey would make an excellent Attorney General.

SC Justice is another matter. I don't know anything about what he would bring to the Court as a jurist, but I do know two things: the Court is dangerously weighted to the Right, with four unwavering and relatively youthful hard right-wingers, and Obama cannot afford -- the nation cannot afford -- a stealth candidate with conservative cred. And two, Obama has little or no reason to cater to conservatives, with a nearly veto-proof majority in the Senate and a lot of political capital.

"I'm just thankful I no longer participate in the daily grind of commuting during rush-hour (too many angry, dangerous drivers during those hours, always made me depressed.)"

Besides family, a few old friends, and maybe “big water” I miss NOTHING about Detroit. Near the top of the list was the daily traffic war.

"IMO, cars are generally a burden and have carried society down a narrow, treacherous road (pun intended) with regard to the environment, economy, personal accountability and the general restructuring of society around the internal combustion engine)."

Kinda agree. I have many Amish families near me. They get by just fine.

Never been into cars much except for an old 70 mustang (302 boss) I used to have.

Antique farm tractors rule my hobby world. I believe the Allis Chalmers Co. was the greatest American company that ever existed.

FYI- Their engineers built a hydrogen fuel cell tractor completed in 1959.

Cars have made us a nomadic commuter society. Most people do not buy a home to dwell in for their entire lives, but actually buy a house and PLAN on selling it to move to another, etc. Probably part of the psychological problems society shares. (And I would tie-in to that the advantages that such a society offers big corporations....)

But we’d prolly have to agree to disagree on the car thing though. (I have my reasons)

That's cool, but maybe we share some common ground there as well. I'm actually a bit of a car "nut", my 1974 BMW 2002tii being the funnest car I've owned, and selling my late fathers 1955 Mercedes 190SL Roadster my greatest regret. The 1936 Ford he and his brother raced in the Great American Race was another incredible car he owned. American cars really aren't any better or worse than the foreign counterparts (especially now, since most "foriegn" ones are built in American factories - was this what we were discussing on previous thread?)

Years in a Honda Odyssey have me yearning for a late 60's American "muscle" car, which, I can't really afford.

Liz Cheney can make all the claims she wants, but the fact is, her father is a war criminal who created his own Shadow Government on the morning of 9/11, and who, since then, has profited by stealing America's money through the storefront....the illegal occupation of Iraq! Where's the $9 billion that went missing right off the bat and where's all the antiquities that were stolen from the Iraqi museums? I bet your father has them all and sold some of the antiques to the CEO's of America! Spit.

'...decisions made after Cheney started explaining how the real world works.'

Riiiightttt; the way the US doesn't torture, then does torture only because it works, and can prove it by declassifying documents they had classified in order to conclusively show that criminal behavior is not defined as breaking the law, because the White House gives it two thumbs up, so it must be legal.

Is that the way the 'real' world works? Or is it simply the way the GOP would have the rest of the world believe that's how they should operate?

Linking Cheney to the 'real' world only proves how deluded you Bushbot apologists are; BushCo has NEVER accepted reality and never will.

If we were right-wingers, we would be responding to Ms. Cheney's efforts to defend her father with a massive, well-funded and highly-coordinated campaign of personal attacks and scrofulous rumors about Ms. Cheney, her family, her friends, and her pets. That's the winger way.

'What do I have wrong wayne. Obama broke his own campaign promise to end military tribunals, he decided not to release the interrogation photos both decisions made after Cheney started explaining how the real world works. Obama listened to Cheney and then followed thru.'

Obama listened to Cheney; right before Elvis and Hendrix disembarked from the alien Mothership and did 'Rockahula Baby'from Blue Hawaii.

So according to LIZ CHENEY, her father is the patriot general of the US; too bad he's mistakenly understood by the entire planet to be the face of evil.

Good to know rotten fruit doesn't fall far from that demonic tree.

'Morning campers. I found an interesting tidbit on Politico, in an article about the Left's disillusionment with Obama:

The meeting came one day after the White House publicly expressed irritation at some lobbying—apparently that of gay, Latino and women’s activists publicly calling for a nominee from one or more of those groups. ““I don’t think that the lobbying of interest groups will help,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday. “I think in many ways lobbying can – and will –be counterproductive.”

Most of the names floated in the press as possible replacements for Justice David Souter have been well received by liberal groups. However, Obama aides have repeatedly noted that some names under active consideration have not been aired publicly. Liberal activists chafed at a report in POLITICO last week that the White House is considering Jim Comey, a No. 2 official at the Bush Justice Department. Some Obama aides apparently think Comey would be a viable choice because he stood up to the White House over wiretapping and criticized what he saw as efforts to politicize the Justice Department.

“He was deputy attorney general serving in Bush’s administration. He came in with the Bushies. What makes you think he’d be just an inch or two more to the center than [Chief Justice] Roberts?” Brittain asked. “I’d be greatly disappointed.”

Although I was encouraged by Comey's acts as #2 at Justice, the skillset needed to be a Supreme Court judge is greatly different, and anyone who still considers himself a republican after 8 years of Bush is an automatic disqualification for someone to replace Souter.

AaronQ of Maine Says:

what is that jewel? or allis morriset?.....

The lyrics in # 235 are from the song "One Of Us" by JOAN OSBORNE, from the CD "Relish".
Pun aside, it's great stuff.

You're welcome. And I can hardly blame you for not wanting to know much about this awful family.
