I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

I find it strange that I, an atheist, seem to have a better understanding of scripture than those who beat their chests and proclaim to be followers of Jesus. THAT is what I find disgusting. You will find your answer in Matthew 23: 14-15.

One of the best examples of a people who walk and live the walk are the Amish. You talk about how more is less, they are amazing and I respect them immensely. They are human and have faults but they really live their faith. If you want to talk about hypocrits and nutjobs in our society, YOU LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY WITH THEM EVERYDAY. Look around and then tell me why you still interact with them. You’ve been blinded by your “faith”. I feel sorry for you.

Funny what a contrast between they way they treated me after my ‘lapse’ and the way so-called religious people treat non-believers. My dad would occasionally say, “Why don’t you stop by the church one of these days and say hi to god?”, to which my stock answer was, “Because the church would be struck by lightning if I did.” They never tried to force me back at all, or make me feel as though I was a lesser, or less, moral person.

GFU, shithead. Apparently you’ve never been to a funeral for an immediate family member. My parents were good Catholics, dumbf!ck, and their funerals, 3 weeks apart, were NOT fun. The freakin’ church gave us a list of rules for what we couldn’t DO at the funerals – no ’secular’ music, no speeches from family members who would not be able to keep their emotions under control (yes, really!), etc. My parents were 50-year members of the same church, my dad attended Mass every weekday, was a deacon, and my mum was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Their church funeral services were absolute shams. They deserved much better than that from the Church they had devoutly served all of their lives. F!ck that!

When religion is used as a wedge issue between believers and non-believers, that is where you loose the young folks. Your comment above just alienated the non-believers from you once more. You need to learn to stop this if you want to attract the youth and others.

Religion would be best served if based on attraction not promotion. Isn’t that what Jesus did? Is this what you’re doing here? Is sadly is not.

Wars based on religious believes are flat out wrong and creates more of a wedge between believers and non-believers.

Religious believers should stay in their yard and be happy that they have a yard to play in within this country.
