Apparently unable to learn from egregious mistakes from the recent past, RNC Chairman Michael Steele once again took to the radio airwaves today as a guest host for Bill Bennett. Earlier this week, Steele declared “an end to the era of Republicans looking backward.” This morning, however, Steele revisited the 2008 election to insist that President Obama had never been “vetted” because the press “fell in love with the black man”:
STEELE: The problem that we have with this president is that we don’t know [Obama]. He was not vetted, folks. … He was not vetted, because the press fell in love with the black man running for the office. “Oh gee, wouldn’t it be neat to do that? Gee, wouldn’t it make all of our liberal guilt just go away? We can continue to ride around in our limousines and feel so lucky to live in an America with a black president.” Okay that’s wonderful, great scenario, nice backdrop. But what does he stand for? What does he believe? … So we don’t know. We just don’t know.
Steele lamented the “missed opportunity” in “dissecting” Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s influence on Obama, and “the lessons [Obama] learned at his [Wright's] knee.” Listen to it:
That Steele would suggest Obama won the presidency because of his race is striking considering that Steele himself has had to face — and bat down — similar allegations. In 2006, when Steele ran for lieutenant governor in Maryland, a Baltimore Sun editorial said that he brought “little to the team but the color of his skin.” Steele slammed the implication as “pure ignorance”:
QUESTION: “Mr. Ehrlich’s running mate, state GOP chairman Michael Steele, brings little to the team but the color of his skin.” Baltimore Sun. … What was your reaction when you read that?
STEELE: Ignorant. It was just pure ignorance. It’s something I had to put up with countless times. … But it was, again, showing a high level of ignorance — ignorance and racism. And call it for what it is. The Baltimore Sun is the Baltimore Sun. I don’t deal with the newspaper. I have nothing to say to the editorial board or –- I barely speak to its reporters, because this is a newspaper that, in my view, has some issues it needs to work out with respect to race.
Earlier this month, also while hosting Bill Bennett’s show, Steele agreed with a caller who declared that Obama “is the Magic Negro.” “Yeah,” Steele replied, laughing. “You read that too, huh?”
What happens on Fridays: Michael Steele guest hosts Bill Bennett's radio show; young staffers at Media Matters and the Center for American Progress listen and compete for the most entertaining sound byte.Ben Smith is wrong. No disrespect towards the fine researchers at Media Matters, but reporting interesting nuggets from Steele's guest hostings on Bennett has been the exclusive domain of ThinkProgress.
God this guy is the gift that keeps on giving. The repugs will stay in exile as long as they give him an outlet to spew his stupidity.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:02 pmIt’s all those drugs and partying that Steele did in college that has fried his logic paths…
….and I guess the Republic Fascist Party spent some real time vetting you, right?

May 22nd, 2009 at 1:06 pmWe dont need people who pretend to cover the news to vet a candidate for us. We have this little thing called the INTERNET where information is available to us on demand. And any homonculus can go to this site and look up whatever they please.
If they dont care so much about the “Liberal Media”, why do they make such a big deal about the way they do things???
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:08 pmWE vetted the Rev. Wright thing in our own minds and decided it wasn’t important. We didn’t need the media to tell us that…
Couldn’t agree more, Buckie Boy :)
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 pmI always ask why no one ever brings up Alan Keyes. Limbaugh explicitly stated blackness, and not policy, was the only consideration for Colin Powell. Alan Keyes disproves that. Same thing here, why didn’t the media get behind Keyes of Steele’s assertion is true?
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 pmPsst, Mikey…President Obama was elected because people fell in love with the smart man running for office.

May 22nd, 2009 at 1:15 pmWhat a fu(king idiot.
“Not vetted”?
They dug up sermons from years ago from a preacher at a church he attended.
They investigated his grammar school. (Well, CNN investigated it; Faux News just reported rumors)
They tried to make an issue out of the living room in which he first met with potential supporters when he was looking into running for state-wide office.
They tried to make an issue out of his first job out of college.
Face it, Steele. Obama was vetted far more rigorously than your boy GWB. You guys just couldn’t find any dirt on him. That’s not the same thing as “not vetted”. It’s the opposite. But that fits your party’s approach to the Reality-Based Community™, doesn’t it? Up is down. Night is day.
Seems to be working well for you.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:16 pmReaffirming – again — that hypocrisy is the currency of the Republicans/Conservatims.
I hope this guy never goes away.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:16 pmBut Mr. Steele, there were two other blacks who also ran to be a president, Jesse Jackson ran twice and also Al Sharpton.
Why didn’t the press fall in love with these two blacks too…?
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:17 pmMr. Steele, you look like you have lost logic in making statements like that.!
Obama was not vetted — from what planet did Steele arrive?
Obama was severely scrutinized for every fact in his life.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:17 pmOh if only George Bush would have been vetted before 2000 when the press and the public loved the thought of a ignoramus president they could have a beer with.
He was not vetted, because the press fell in love with the black man running for the office.
I don’t care who’s saying it, that’s still a racist thing to say.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:18 pmMichael Steele as the chair to the RNC is the product of the GNOP exploiting a person of race. He is obviously a token member not to be taken seriously and he continues to make a fool of himself by the day.
I feel sorry for him. One day he will realize what the goppers have done to him.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:18 pmI think a lot of republiscum are thinking they did not vet Steele sufficiently.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:19 pmYes, even black people can be racist.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:20 pmMr. Steele, considering your nomination was made only DAYS after Obama’s election, despite your whole party seemingly hating everything you do, say, and stand for policy-wise…how do you think YOU got YOUR job?
At least Obama ran on a campaign of change and progressive values and policies.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:22 pmSo Steele is saying that the Republics were so in awe of Obama because he was black they didn’t bother to vet him?
Does Michael Steele have any idea how ridiculous he sounds?
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pmThere must be some nonviolent way to get these people to shut up. Perhaps a court injunction.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pmBoth Michael Steele and Alan Keyes are jealous that Barack Obama achieved what they only dreamed. Please Michael, don’t equate how the repugs think of you, with the popularity of the president.
They will leave you minding the store while they are at the golf course (probably one that you dare not set foot in) and leave you to do crap like this. You are the type of person, that will tear down your own, just to look good for your party.
The whole Rev. Wright saga has been thoroughly picked over and even then Sen. Obama gave a whole speech on the matter. Please keep in mind that this is a country that had policies in place that had separate lunch counters, separate schools, separate water fountains… Rev. Wright grew up with those discriminations, so you and him see things different. People had to be beaten and dogs set upon them, so a loser like you could vote!!
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pmTired Of Fighting: The problem that we have with this Chairman is that we don’t know [Steele]. He was not vetted, folks. … He was not vetted, because the bigots needed the black man to run for the office.

As I recall, Rush was a big proponent of the “He only got elected because he’s black” as well as the “The media gave him a pass” line of horsepuckey. Steele is in appropriate company.
Since the only audience for this radio show is the vanishing core of wingnuts, the only attention it will get is on blogs like this.

Said a school official in an email to the Democratic club, according to the Lynchburg (VA) newspaper: “The Democratic Party platform is contrary to the mission of Liberty University and to Christian doctrine (supports abortion, federal funding of abortion, advocates repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, promotes the “LGBT” agenda, hate crimes, which include sexual orientation and gender identity, socialism, etc.).”

May 22nd, 2009 at 1:36 pmThe most politically delicious part of this story has to be the blatantly obvious disconnect between Michael Steele’s unwavering belief that he is actually helping the GOP rise again every time he opens his mouth and the reality of the near left-for-dead, decaying political carcass that has become the modern GOP.
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:37 pmNot vetted? The guy had written two books telling about who he was and what he believed, run for office, worked in law and as a community organizer, served as president of the Harvard Law Review. As opposed to John McCain who crashed five planes in the Navy and only ended up in a position to be tortured because his father and grandfather were admirals, or George W. Bush, whose lawyer, Alberto Gonzalez shielded him from jury duty so his record of DUI wouldn’t come out–I could go on and on. Their frailties/transgressions were hiding in plain sight and who vetted them? Michael Steele is a disordered personality. How much longer will the master puppeteers of his party suffer his big mouth?

AUSTIN, Texas – While Gov. Rick Perry is criticizing Washington bailouts, state lawmakers are planning to use $11 million in federal stimulus money to help rebuild the badly burned Texas Governor’s Mansion.
Approximately $10 million in state tax money will also be spent on a renovation, which is expected to cost about $20 million, officials said Thursday.

Time to develop an oxycontin habit Michael.
May 22nd, 2009 at 2:02 pmhow touching that a man who at one time was dismissed as being nothing more that a race chaser is now back at his most favored footing. the same man, when speaking to a community of mostly african americans, he straightly morphs into this obama respecting figure who is awed by the president. only to return to his true colors and spew out such racist rants – yes, it is racist even for a black person to say what he did towards another black man. in a sense, obama won because he is black. am sure some other persons have tried to run with this argument only to be chided by the public – you recall miss geraldine feraro making similar suggestions. but surely, steeles is doing nothing save follow the fearless leaders’(limbaugh) beaten path – limbaugh says obama won because of race so steele must surely follow here. we all recall what happens when the boy steeles went against father limbaugh. what a pitty though, that a black man, who was elected chairman based on his race as the party was trying to reach out to minorities, how this same man prostitutes himself for the sake of appearing strong with the party base. good luck chairman steele with your outreach in the african american community

It is the cornerstone of liberal ideology. Why, if the liberals were in charge back in the 50’s and 60’s, we’d STILL have segregated water fountains, and schools, and such. Yep. Liberalism is the epitome of racism. You got it, buddy. Gee you are so smart.

May 22nd, 2009 at 2:53 pmThe ironic thing is that it’s Steele who’s really the “Magic Negro,” not Barack Obama. Steele was made chairman so the Republicans could say “See? we got a black guy leading us, too.”
The original “Magic Negro” story in the LA Times suggested that people voted for Obama to assuage white guilt over racism, but I think most people voted for him simply because he was the better candidate. While the idea of someone from an oppressed minority making it to the highest job in the country certainly has great appeal, it doesn’t have anything to do with guilt. People cheer for the underdog basketball teams because it’s exciting to see the underdog win, not because anyone feels guilty about their long-shot status.
Steele was made chairman of the RNC for the totally cynical reason that the Republicans hoped to fool moderates into voting for their extremist party by putting a not-very-competent black guy in a leadership role. Steele got his job because of the color of his skin, not for the content of his character. With Obama, it was the reverse.

May 22nd, 2009 at 3:05 pmAren’t these statements by Steele the essence of why he was picked anyway? Because he’s black, the GOP (out of touch with almost all issues and aspects of race in this country) think that they have a carte blanche with this criticism, unreproachable in the face of Steele’s blackness.
But like most strategies of the GOP right now, this one was faulty, the man selected unqualified, and turning out to be the best laughing stock for anyone opposed to conservatism.

May 22nd, 2009 at 3:07 pmNot vetted? And Steele expects us to take such an absurd remark seriously?
Perhaps Steele could name ANY president (or even any candidate for president) who has been “vetted” more thoroughly than President Obama has. Every tiny particle of Obama’s life has been scrutinized by the opposition, by the press, and by pundits everywhere. His birth certificate alone has generated more interest than that of any other presidential candidate. Ever.
During the primary battle, and during the general election campaign, we have been treated to endless screeching about Obama’s association with Ayers, his association with Wright, and his association with Rezko. His religious leanings have been under the microscope more than anyone else’s. Every misspeak he’s committed has been held up as some kind of evidence that he can’t lead. Every vote he ever cast in the Illinois State Senate and in the U.S. Senate has been analyzed (and mostly twisted). Even the term “community organizer” got turned into a pejorative by the Republicans, because he held that job for awhile. His scholastic record has been thoroughly examined for any blemish that could be exploited for political purposes.
No other candidate within my lifetime (and I was born during the Eisenhower administration) has been scrutinized, analyzed, and picked apart more than Barack Obama has been.
If Steele is going to stand by this ridiculous statement, he needs to give examples of presidents who have been “vetted” better, and he needs to make a compelling argument making his case. Otherwise, he just continues to be a hot air dispenser — desperate to get some cred with the party he purports to lead.

May 22nd, 2009 at 3:20 pmLast time I checked, the Republic Fascist Party’s last example of their brand’s vetting was Sarah Palin.
We all know how well that went (with special recognition to Katie Couric for her softball unveiling of the least qualified candidate for national office in the history of the United States of America).

I love it, when Palin does a poor interview she is a moron or an idiot. When Biden does it daily, it’s just Joe being Joe. One has to love the double standard. Three letter word J-O-B-S.

Hate speech is not speech which you don’t agree with. As if the GOP is welcoming of minorities? They always do this, they always use the race card to suggest that their minorities are above reproach. So if we dare to criticize Steele and are therefore racist, what does that make the teabaggers and their vitriol towards Obama? Of course that’s justified, because IOKIYAR…
May 22nd, 2009 at 3:52 pmWhen has Palin NOT done a poor interview? She doesn’t dare to show up on a Sunday morning political interview show — not even with Chris Wallace of FIXED News Sunday Morning!
Sarah Palin can only handle talking about moose chili in her own kitchen with Greta Van Susteren, or going on a softball morning talk show to tell other people to be sexually abstinent outside of marriage, despite that fact that neither she nor her daughter were successful in that regard.
She DOES, however, like to speak to political rallies:

Oh, our buddy JohnM is just relating one of Joe Biden’s misspeaks.
He’s trying to imply that Biden is as ignorant as Palin is, but he’s not making much of a case. Biden tends to misspeak from time to time (although not nearly as much as Dan Quayle or George W. Bush did), but the thing is that we know Biden really knows how many letters are in the plural form of “job” and we know Biden really knows that television wasn’t around when FDR was president.
Palin’s ignorance is a more serious matter — like when she freezes up when asked to name newspapers and periodicals she reads, or to name any SCOTUS decision other than Roe v. Wade she disagrees with. She responded to the question of what the Vice President does with inaccuracies (”the VP is in charge of the Senate”) and double-talk. She couldn’t even give a coherent answer when asked about preconditions for meeting with world leaders.
This is all a bit more worrisome than failing to account for the pluralizing “s” when counting up the letters in a word.
May 22nd, 2009 at 4:01 pmGo easy there PatrioticLiberalChristianMantisReligiosa, in addition to difficulties with single digit integers JohnM also is prone to confusing who posts what. I think there might be some health issues or something but I am not sure…

2. Recognizable name — check

4. Promises he won’t get any bl*wj*bs in the Oval Office — check

May 22nd, 2009 at 4:31 pmJust in case no one’s mentioned it, as I have only skimmed the thread, have these idiots forgotten that Obama withstood more scrutiny and outright smear attempts than any candidate in American history? Nah!
These pig-ignorant Reichwhiners are impervious to logic and reason. There was never anything for them to forget.
May 22nd, 2009 at 4:35 pmMr. Steele is getting just what his hand calls for: He volunteered to be the token negro and he is being treated just like what he is. No person in their right mind thought the Republican party was serious when they elected him their chairman. It was blatantly obvious they were trying to out-black the Democrats. He is their just deserves. A useful idiot who embarrasses them every time he opens his mouth. He was much more successful when he and his sister were tricking Mike Tyson out of millions of dollars but it requires a bit more smarts for the normal American. Unlike poor Mike, most of us have more than a elementary education. Mr. Steele in his endeavor to try to be an equal to Barack Obama is so far out of his league it’s laughable and the Republicans with their propensity to always see things through the eyes of a child missed the point of Mr. Obama’s appeal throughout the entire Presidential campaign: Mr. Obama did not get elected because of the color of his skin, he got elected because of the level of his intellect and the content of his character. Two valuable characteristics Mr. Steele has never possessed and he never will. The ultimate irony in all of this, even though his name is Steele, he Steele doesn’t get it! By the way, I am an African American and I’m not even light-skinned!

I think at this point, he’s even laughable to a lot of Republicans. But the Republican leadership has always believed that all blacks are alike, all women are alike, all Jews are alike, all gays are alike, etc. etc. Just pick any group of people who aren’t rich, white, Protestant, heterosexual men, and any person in that group is exactly like any other person in that group.
It’s this mindset that has given us the following from the Republicans:
Clarence Thomas = Thurgood Marshall
Michael Steele = Barack Obama
Harriet Miers = Sandra Day O’Connor
Sarah Palin = Hillary Clinton
You’d think they’d get a clue after awhile.

I must quibble. The GOP, when faced with the power and opportunity to forge a course of action, have chosen the worst possible course for at least 40 years.
If one of them got a clue? I would faint.
May 22nd, 2009 at 5:32 pmWow, my head is spinning with all the “comments” Thanks Jeff2001 for jumping in to the fire of dissention. Tweedstar, “blanket racism” I think both sides (liberal/democrat and conservative/republicans) have that covered. Kwawg1012, Sgt. Sherman is KIA (dead to you civilians) Obviously he didn’t end up “being safe”, but everyone’s rights to say what they want to say is safe, no matter how stupid, Even Mike Steele, because of what he and many others did. Maybe you should think of that this Memorial Day if not for just a moment rather then picnics, brats and burgers, and whatever you can b**tch about. Remember, Love and Hate are both blinding emotions.
May 22nd, 2009 at 5:43 pmDidja catch the “messiah” inference? Obama was elected to make all our “liberal guilt just go away”. He washed our sins away. Oh happy day.

You voted for a man who guaranteed to withdraw the troops from Iraq within a given time frame. He’s switched that mantra and quietly sent more while violence is escalating both there and in Afghanistan whose getting more troops, too.
He’s switched his initial motive towards Israel and now favors Palestine.
He has said whatever is needed and the intelligentsia of the D party have blindly followed.
California is a microcosm of what is going to happen to the United States b/c of the extraordinarily egregious spending by the Federal Government; initiated by Obama. Even more ridiculously similar is to think of a teenager just out of high school receiving CC after CC offer… and taking them… only for emergencies… or someone winning 250g and helping out their friends or going directly to the dealership and getting a new Cadillac Es-kah-lah-day with 24’s and some leather siht on the inside… and then broke in a year…
China owns a third of the United States, now. Why do you think Hilary went over there and begged them to purchase trillions of dollars in bonds? They have money and we don’t. I’m not blaming what I’m about to say on Obama, so don’t misconstrue it. Social Security is bankrupt, Medicare and Medicaid are hemorrhaging money. China is like a parasite feeding on the US… the wild part of it is that this parasite is much larger than the host and when the host becomes useless to the parasite, this one’ll just eat it. Hell, even China is trying to tell us not to socialize(int the political sense) China is amassing the largest military fleet ever known to man; it makes the Spanish Armada look like yellow rubber duckies floating in a kiddie pool with numbers on the bottom. It’s arsenal is ever-growing and it’s military is larger than ours. They have barge after barge after barge of steel just sitting there off their shores; biding time to enact an even greater impact on world economics. We won’t even bring up Russias grasp on the gaping sucking would that is our economy.

It’s funny to me that you pick an imbeciles rant to lock onto as a targeted aversion to looking at the practices of the President.
We now have the President backtracking on items of National Security. It’s like having a house full of expensive items and placing them in front of every window, leaving the door open with a sign on the lawn that says “Out of town ’til next Wednesday, you can watch the TV, but please don’t take it.”
You flame on the response of someone stating their opinion and give each other wi-fives and kudos and thumbs up for belittling him…
Maybe you should take the time you spend posting to research just exactly what is going on on Capitol Hill. Think about it when the price of a loaf of bread; a standard in identifying the amount of inflation if you didn’t know, reaches $12 a loaf and you’re scrounging through the couch, car, dryer, vaccum, or whatever… yeah, I’ve been broke, to purchase a can of condensed milk.
I don’t care who won… I care about what’s going to come, though, I tighten my bootstraps every day and press on, praying that my efforts will be enough to help keep me and my co-workers employed a while longer.
You look at gasoline and the UAE… check out how much of our fuel comes from Australia and Mexico…
You flaunt absurdities at others and think that you’ve had your day because of some cheeky comment or remark riddled with sarcasm and “wit”… while in blind support of initiatives proposed that you know nothing about… how many of you idiots are idiots?! If you didn’t raise your hand, then take your next lonely night and your next and your next and start reframing your ideology through research and not the snappy headline that catches your eye… That’s how I ended up on this Shite of a blogment…
You wanna impress somebody? Impress yourself, look it up, don’t believe what you hear in the media; whichever entity you decide to watch… journalism is dead; it’s all biased to one end or another and neither will tell you what’s ahead down the road. whether it’s conservative talk radio, liberal news or conservative. Open your eyes to what’s going on and effing look into it.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, and I don’t ascribe to any group… I’m just a hard working guy who scratches out a living and has taken the time to dig a little deeper than the surface to actually looking into what’s going on.
No one is perfect, not Obama, not McCain, not the Clintons, (bill started this economic crap hole by the way, look it up)
Pay attention to the world around you, you who claim to be knowledgeable. You’re all being guided like sheep; through repetition and guile; you’re all products of Pavlovian theory and have made it law. Lemmings running with the pack over the cliff (even though that’s not really documented). You view the world through rose colored glasses with your personal beliefs and ideals that have been taught to you through repetition. How many of you with just the mention of the word Ducktales, could hum the tune? How many of you ever look past your nose and look down the path ahead of you? Pick your head up!
Yeah, go ahead and call it a sermon… Half of you have probably stopped reading this by now, anyway, and are posting something asinine and blatantly much more stupider than things posted before.
Just remember this… when you go to post… note the time stamp on them… are you people laid off or are you just dkicing the day away wasting your employers money?
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:01 pmNot that I have any reason to respond, I’m retired, myself. Plus I have a cold so I didn’t feel like socializing. As for the rest, although it bears the precision of a copy-paste, it could be a contender for the word salad award. I’ll leave that for others to judge.
As for your concerns about President Obama’s record thus far compared to his “campaign promises”? Some are well deserved if not particularly objective. Here’s my take:
Obama announced a 16 month deadline for Iraq as conditions allow and always said that events would influence his plans. I don’t know where you got the “favors Palestine”. He said he would change the personnel and policies governing national security and that’s what he’s doing. There are some things that I would prefer to see handled with different priority but I’m basically pleased with the young Administration, and I’ll tell ya why.
Obama has done exactly as I had hoped based on his history and the campaign. He’s made rational, even when I disagree, decisions based on real-time events. I didn’t vote for a dogma. I voted for a capable person who, apparently, has the ability to get things done. And he’s done it without anger, bluster, or drawing lines in the sand.
After that point it just seems to trail off into a bunch of vague conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios. The fact of the matter is that America has to pay up for past excesses. However, since you mentioned fuel prices, you can’t blame that on the “libruls”.
The oil industry was established with the guile and culpability of the whole GOP deregulation movement. The whole industry is designed to rape the economy at a whim. And that’s exactly what they did last summer with the insane trading and appear to be setting it up again. You can’t blame it on “libruls”. You can’t blame it on “Arabs”. You can only blame it on the unregulated American oil industry that the GOP assembled.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:37 pmthere was a man who rose from obscurity to the height of political power, he in his land was considered a briliant speeker by most, his ability to rally his people and make the crowds cheer and fawn over him unparalelled, his gift for speech giving came naturaly and once the public descovered him he was quickly elected to power, he promised many great things he had huge ambitions for changing his country’s direction and destiny.
you see he was elected in a time of great turmoil, fear and despair. with issues ranging from his land’s auto industry and economy to foreghn policy. he had grand desighns of how to fix the porblems of the land and everyone rallied behind him. he had great oposition but with his star like charizma and natural gift for speach giving he easily stole the spotlight and got in power despite nobody knowing aneything substantial about him his past or his political beleafs. and though the oposition was strong the majority of people wanted the kind of change he was promising..and he ws elected out of hope and a desire for change.
who is this man i am speeking of??? bet you think im talking about obama….. im not though the similarities in this area i describe are striking ask any WWII historian and they’ll tell you im talking about adolph hitler.
everything ive stated is true and documented history. reality is germans were so desperate for change after WWI reconstruction that they blindly elected the worst possible person for the job. all because there wasnt proper veting of him and his suporters blindly followed. he had a genuin gift for speeking just like obana he swept the crowds off thear feet even during the war. public opinion only turned agains him as germany began to loose WWII and germany was bombed and invaded..
the lesson in this history lesson is to never blindly follow or you might be lead off a clif. allways question what polititions tell you especialy if they say what you want to hear because quite often what they say is a vague esily parsed and quickly forgotten lie. this is true nomatter what way you vote and what party you belong too.. allways demand facts and proof.. something politicians never like to give honestly w/o spinning in thear favor..
its perfectly ok to scrutinize and pick apart the politicians on the other side of the debate but you need to do the same with those you vote for and its never ok to blindly beleave those you vote for.. dont drink the cool aid untill they prove its not poisoned first if you know what i mean. dont forget you are thear boss they answer to you not the other way around..demand honesty and openness.. and if they promis it and dont deliver demand it untill they do..
im nether democrat nor republican. im to honest to be ether. i do what most dont.. i keep my eyes open instead of being blind.. i am a realist. and reality trumps party ideology any day of the week.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:07 pmspawndex, if you think the progressives here at TP fail to scrutinize Obama or any other Democrat, you either have not perused these threads very much or you don’t pay very close attention.
And as for your final point, “im nether democrat nor republican. im to honest to be ether”, I’d just like to note that in my experience, whenever someone makes a concerted effort to proclaim how honest they are, I always keep one hand on my wallet.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:14 pmHe’s the second coming of Clayton Bigsby, LOL
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:33 pmMr Steels’s modus operandi is a defensive strategy in that he is pulling that stuff from his old playbook to evoke the sentiments of his handlers. Let us follow his faux agenda, whereby people are in love with Obama and compare with Messrs. Sharpton and Jackson! The only thing I see in common is “balckness” (rather degree of blackness) but putting that aside, what does Obama possess that the other two do not?
The answer is more than Steels’s pronouncement.
Stelle is being a good lapdog whereas Obama has surpassed and blazed his own trail to the dismay of the haters. Dont’ hate, appreciate and communicate!
Obama didn’t wash anyone guilt away. That guilt is still present and each man will have to sort out his own demons.
God Bless USA
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:47 pmSteele is RIGHT! Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are buffoons, caricatures who wouldn’t stand a chance of getting elected in a 3rd world country, let alone in the U.S.
But Barry Obama played the race card to the hilt. “Oh, by the way, call me black, since it’s politically correct, and since it’s currently glamorous with the flaming, Hollywood-obsessed, union-employed, welfare state crowd to be black and proud, and I’ll conveniently forget the half of me that’s white and the fact that I was raised and formed by my white relatives.”
The sad reality is that the bumbling, spin-soaked media fell for this slickster, and the illiterate electorate which has only a half a clue at any given time, will put down their TV remotes and take a break from American Idol and broadcast TV just long enough to lap up the LIES and SPIN coming from the Obama machine.
If you want to contest any of this, ask why Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice were not hailed as the second coming of humanity during their time in office. Oh, I forgot, it’s because they were appointed by a NON-BLACK president.
The only chance the Obamanation has a chance of remaining in office is that he’s chosen one of the biggest buffoons in politics as his Veep, and the most ridiculous, ethically-challenged and plastic-assisted woman in Congress is 2nd in-line. These above two facts make the rest of the nation actually want to prolong Barry’s time in office. But his screwups are starting to snowball. He’s already bankrupted the nation and sold our children’s futures for the sake of his own greatness. Let’s hope he gets some sense shaken into him – no not through the teleprompter – while the rest of you shills continue to wet your pants in the name of the ascendancy of the left. All the while promoting the leader with the least substance and ability that we’ve ever seen in this nation’s history.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:48 pmthis is my first visit to this blog so how well you scrutinize those you vote for is unknown to me.. the resion for my final point i made is because from my experiance when ever you question a politician or scrutinize them in an honest maner most of the time everyone just asumes you are from the other side of the isle and dismiss you out of hand w/o the posibility of an open mind to what you are saying..
i watched the election from all media outlets including national news networks, internet, and newspaper.. and i know a fair amount of history going back to the civil war erra..
it seems to me that the media was covering the election in a verry biased one sided manor.. with the exeption of fox news they all seemed like extentions of the obama campaighn. fox news on the other hand was atleast atempting to be unbiased though they still showed a heavy favor for mcain..
and people’s general hate for bush made them nearly garonteed democrat votes nomatter who the nominee would have been.. im just disapointed at how we as a country so quickly forgot our world history and rushed to potentialy make the same mestakes..and to clear up any misconseptions the only comparison between obama and hitler im making is in thear political talents.. both have the “sliver toung” the ability to win over overwhelming crowds give briliant awe inspiring speeches and find supporters in unlikely places.
and from my experiance most democrats/progressivs vote down the party line read the talking points, and tend to favor ideology over what’s really best on most topics.. all i want is some intelectualy honesty from everyone. all too often people dismiss policies and ideas that those on the other side support only to reverse corus and suport them when thear party does and vise versa… if something needs done.. is the right thing to do.. and fixes the problem then why do prople have a problem with it when it happens as a result of the other political party?
with respect to themilitary trials for terrorists obama campaighned on ending them.. now that he’s in office he has reinstated them with some rules tweeks.. and on guantanimo.. why would any sane man want a muslam terrorist in an american prizon where they would be free to recrute and convert allready violent americans to thear group.. voilent americans who may eventualy be released and have the freedom to start thear own sleeper cell.. its allready common for people to convert to islam while in prizon so why allow the posibility for them to be recruted in to a version of it that would justify, and reward thear allready violent tendancies..
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:53 pmand any other country that would take them would be just as at risk in the same way.. and if thear released thear likely to turn up on another battlefield… so given these facts what’s really the best choice???? keep them segragated away from any other inmates that dont allready think like them and in a place where potential escape wouldent mean another potential 9/11. really.. these are people that think thear doing gods work and that god will give them virgins in heaven if they brutaly kill you and you’re children.. do you really want them on the same continent as you? and finaly with the auto industry problem… its a scarry time we are in when the government it dictating what happens to out auto industry nomatter how you look at it.. i just hope he is doing what’s best for the country even when its not what’s best for the unions.. and yes it looks like he’s favoring the unions at chrisler over the stock holders and tax payers.. unions getting a 55% stake… unions running a buisness has allways been bad buisness. for the sake of my job i hope he gets this right…
Well, spawndex, you fail to mention that there was not a single American terrorist victim, aside from the anthrax attacks, between 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan. In fact, no government can be traced to a single death before or after 9/11.
Little did we know that 9/11 was just a small taste of the horrors to come and it would be our fault. That’s what the trolls can’t let themselves admit. All the shit after 9/11 is America’s fault.
And the second that Bushco abandoned the mission to catch Bin Laden, and the first bomb fell in Baghdad, it turned into a effing Crusade. All pretense of a punitive mission against the worst terrorist, which the Arab World understood and respected, was pissed into the sand.
It’s our effing fault. Deal with it. Until you manage to process that unpleasant little truth? Go back to RedState, or Rapture Ready, with the other cowards who are afraid to acknowledge our own sins and forgive those who’ve sinned against us.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:15 pmi watched the election from all media outlets including national news networks, internet, and newspaper.. and i know a fair amount of history going back to the civil war erra..
it seems to me that the media was covering the election in a verry biased one sided manor.. with the exeption of fox news they all seemed like extentions of the obama campaighn. fox news on the other hand was atleast atempting to be unbiased though they still showed a heavy favor for mcain..
If you don’t know that the owner of Fox News Channel deliberately hired a hard-line conservative to run his network, for the specific purpose of advancing a right-wing agenda (which includes a well-documented history of telling bald-faced lies), then your knowledge of history could be seriously debated.
Just thought you should know that.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:29 pmMichael Steele is absolutely CORRECT– all the Dems, and even some independents, were so in love with Obama, the empty talking suit, who needs Axelrod behind his teleprompter, to tell him what to say, that they did NOT vet him. If they had– or at very LEAST, had listened to Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Bill Bennett, Oliver North– they would have found out that Obama has links to some of the biggest Anti-American anarchists the world has ever known. So for all you posting sheep here– you have been HAD, by the biggest community organizing con man in the world– and he is pro- abortion most likely because he was born out of wedlock, and has a complex about it. He is a FAKE– and he is a shylock, who is following the Saul Alinsky playbook, “Rules for RADICALS” to the letter. It SHOULD scare you sheep, that he has an illegal organization, Acorn, doing his bidding, and committing unlawful acts to keep him in power– that he is building his own Brown Shirt militia– search on “brown shirt” from Nazi WWII, it will make everything clear– he is setting himself up to overthrow this country. He wants to make us POOR– and all of you are sure helping him to ruin your country– you jerks.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:32 pmPete and Wayne– you make it sounds like you voted for Obama, not because he was a good candidate– but to GET BACK at Bushco– now, if that isn’t stupid, and dangerous to boot, we don’t know what IS. Many people who voted for Obama, to get back at Bush, are now REGRETTING it– to be certain, our children will be paying for your stupidity, for decades to come– let us only hope that ALL of us don’t suffer from your idiocy, by losing our freedoms, and having a country that is now too weak to defend itself. And Wayne and Pete- bet neither of you have paid the ultimate price– serving in the military– correct? Big mouths, no action.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:40 pmtruth777 Says: A bunch of rehashed, debunked, conspiracy theories without a single example of what he’s talking about.
Just to hit the obvious ones:
The government is not bankrupt. Our checks are still good. Most of the spending is emergency spending and, if administered wisely, will pay dividends in the future. None of the doomsayers have a rational case. Well, the rest is just too silly to deserve a response. Considering the quoted sources that comes as no surprise.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:45 pmThat’s true, I haven’t served. By a quirk of birth there wasn’t much to fight for when I was in my prime and now I’m well past the age of conscription. That being said, I have faced life and death situations most of which were water related. I’ve faced hardships and paid dues that I don’t need to compare or defend to any other person.

I stopped reading the rest of this comment on the presumption that it was equally stupid.
Speaking for myself, I voted for Obama not to “get back at Bush” (which only the mind of a child would conceive as an excuse to cast an adult’s vote for someone), but because his primary opponent, John McCain (a/k/a, “The Panderer“), was promising a continuation of the Bush policies. That I would not accept. And I wasn’t naive, I was quite aware of the fact that the right wing would try to frighten people into rejecting even Obama’s best ideas, for no other reason than to point to it later and say he was a “failure”, completely and hypocritically oblivious of their own role in that failure.
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:59 pmReasonResonance
“…the extraordinarily egregious spending by the Federal Government; initiated by Obama.”
That’s about as far as I got – why waste my time on another right-wing apologist who still thinks turning a $155 billion surplus into a several trillion dollar deficit in such an efficient way is not “extraordinarily egregious spending.” And do I even need to say that that spree was initiated by GWB? And your “point” about Obama’s lack of ideological rigidity is why so many people voted for him, rather than a man many once considered honorable even if they disagreed with him, until he demonstrated his willingness to march in lock-step with the very people who brought us into the wars and lack of regulation and the corruption that necessitated the current spending spree. My God, you people still think Ronald Reagan was some sort of hero, when he was the one that took those first steps down this disastrous road. Add to that the fact that Reagan and both Bushes lied about big things (read: NOT blowjobs) like subverting the Constitution, trading with terrorists (where did Osama get his first Stinger?), and wealth trickling down to the people that actually work for money, and you can see why America wanted a change. Or maybe you can’t see it – which would make you as dumb as Mr. Steele.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:01 pmAnd Wayne and Pete- bet neither of you have paid the ultimate price– serving in the military– correct? Big mouths, no action.
Factually incorrect. I served in the Air Force.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:01 pmNOTE: Items reference Resolution 511 (Mc Cains Eligibility for POTUS), Senate Judiciary Committee, April 2, 2008 (quotes in part); Chairman Leahy asks Sec. Chertoff, Dept. of Homeland Security, “Do you have any doubt in your mind -I mean, I have none in mine. Do you have any doubt in your mind that he is constitutionally eligible to become President?” (This is in reference to a vetting of Sen. John Mc Cain’s eligibility.) Secretary Chertoff replies, “ My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are a naturally a natural born American citizen.” Chairman Lehey, “That is mine too. Thank you.”
Now, I do not know why someone did not raise this same question regarding Barrack Obama Jr.’s eligibility, but some democrat contested John Mc Cains eligibility because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone. The above back and forth in the Senate Judiciary Committee proves that they had an understanding of the US Constitutional requirement that for one to be eligible to be POTUS, one has to a Natural Born Citizen. While the location of Obama Jr.’s place of birth is still in question, it is a well known fact his father was not a U.S. citizen, and apparently therefore is not eligible to be PONTUS. Why was Obama, Jr. not thoroughly vetted? Not important?
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:07 pmSheesh, another wingnut pushing the “Obama is not eligible to be president” idiocy again. I am reminded of the phrase “None so blind as those who will not see.”
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:20 pmAnother sock puppet with another debunked myth? Try this:
Google “obama’s birth certificate”. Once you follow a few links you will find an online copy of a birth certificate that states he was born in Hawaii. A few more clicks will inform you that the, ah crap! I forget whether it was the Attorny General or the Secretary of State of Hawaii, examined the vault copy and he and other witnesses have attested that it’s a valid, genuine, birth certificate.
Please don’t waste any more of our time with that one. Thanks.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:21 pmWayne Ant:
I served as well – U.S. Army. Among those who did NOT serve, however, are Michael Steeele, Dick Cheney, GWB (enlisting and serving are not the same thing), Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Donald Rumsfeld, Ari Fleischer, Ann Coulter, Michelle Bachman, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and need I go on? There are a lot of Dems, too, but they weren’t the ones lying us into war and impugning the patriotism of anyone who pointed out the BS.
And as for the old GOP fall-back that everyone in the military votes Republican – well, y’all just keep thinkin’ that.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:31 pmI found this blog today and you are amazing. What an angry bunch of writers. Why keep on beating all these issues that cannot be changed or actually resolved. Think about what’s coming our way when we become socialist. Seems by the tone of the comments that most approve of the president and that’s the right you have. But for those who do not, it’s their right, too. Conservative radio has as much freedom of speech as NPR, Air America, racist Tom Joyner’s staff, etc. I find it stunning that people are so afraid of conservative radio–just don’t listen. That’s what I do for those commentators that I don’t agree with. They wouldn’t have so much influence if they were ignored. It seems to me that the two parties are becoming rather uncivil with each other–too bad. We are Americans and we should stand side by side, even with different views.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:46 pmmonzona, while I’m not a constitutional scholar, even I know that your parents don’t have to be natural born citizens to be POTUS (no N in that by the way), so I guess your idiocy makes the rest of your post equally useless…and truth777, while I’m not the PC police, “shylock” is a very derogatory word, which makes you look really impressive in a thread commenting about racism
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:52 pmHe was not vetted, because the press fell in love with the black man running for the office. “Oh gee, wouldn’t it be neat to do that? Gee, wouldn’t it make all of our liberal guilt just go away? We can continue to ride around in our limousines and feel so lucky to live in an America with a black president.”

May 23rd, 2009 at 12:03 amPro-deregulation,Pro-Rich,Pro-BigCorp Republicans still don’t get. You have lost the middle-class.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:10 amReading these comments leaves me with a distaste in my mouth. I see such anger and yes, hate. Spanks you all for being so shallow and full of bull. I, for one, prefer to be an American and not a Socialist. I choose Democracy with all it’s flaws. Many of you have caste stones, tsk tsk. Seems to me the Obama Administration has done nothing but divide this County as evidenced by these comments. Are you American? Do you uphold the USA Constitution? Do you believe in Democracy? Well, then, act like it, support it and protect it. God bless the USA while we still can.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:34 amThe entire world believes in Obama because he is a natural born leader that inspires hope for everyone, not just his political party of choice. In all my years, I’ve never seen a president with such a steady hand, and a clear mind with sound ideas for America, while dealing with the mountain of problems dumped on him by the previous administration. The rhetoric by Steele represents the continuation of the politics of the past, and will not get a Republican elected as President in the foreseeable future if they continue down that path.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:37 amAre ‘caste stones’ anything like kidney stones?
Summa, if you support the Constitution, did the Bush/Cheney administration ‘leave a bad taste in your mouth’, too? They are the ones who divided this nation, by trying to make the country believe that anyone who disagreed with their war of choice was un-American, a traitor, morally and intellectually astray, etc., etc. After 8 years of such crap, we’re all just a tad impatient with the kind of idiocy such as Steele trots out weekly, if not daily.
You want to see anger and hatred? Try redstate or one of the other righty sites. We’re a cheerful bunch compared to them.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:48 amI find it amazing how so many on the right wing read substantive critiques of flawed reasoning and see “hate”. Hate, hate, hate everywhere.
I guess if you hold so much hate in your own heart, when you look around you, hate is what you’re gonna see.

He may talk well, with a teleprompter, but he doesn’t have a clue as to what he is doing. He is bankrupting America. Stealing money from us. With a president like Obama, there is no foreseeable future for America.
I thought Obama would be good for the USA, but clearly now I can see I was wrong. If he continues on the path of which he is taking us we will soon be a Socialist run Government like Egypt, and God help us all then. He is already trying to make changes to the Constitution-The right to bear arms- lol. And he has only been in office for 3 months, what will happen to us in four years from now. Will it be the end of America as we once knew it to be-Freedom-or will we become a police country, run by Islamics? I think YES, please anyone who reads this and listens carefully to the news please comment.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:52 am“I find it stunning that people are so afraid of conservative radio–just don’t listen.”
Hollyhock, the only thing that we fear in regards to conservative radio is that another lunatic will go on a shooting spree based on the vile rhetoric spewed by righties. Otherwise they could talk themselves hoarse for all I care. I don’t listen, I have more respect for my own intelligence than that.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:52 amHollyhock Says:
I found this blog today and you are amazing. What an angry bunch of writers.
Yes, some are very angry at what our government did during the previous administration.
Why keep on beating all these issues that cannot be changed or actually resolved.
Well, there you go. That’s the “can-do spirit” that made America great. If people had that attitude in 1776, you;d probably be speaking with a British accent.
We fight to make the changes we believe are necessary for our country. Any other interpretation would be lacking.
Think about what’s coming our way when we become socialist.
Well, we will never become as socialist as some conservatives have been telling people we will, but we are definitively way too capitalistic. I, for one, do not want to see essential government services privatized, like some on the right do.
Seems by the tone of the comments that most approve of the president and that’s the right you have.
May I suggest that the next time you check out a new blog, that you read the “About” page before criticizing the posters. That most of us support President Obama would have been obvious to you had you done that.
But for those who do not, it’s their right, too.
Nobody is saying it isn’t.
Conservative radio has as much freedom of speech as NPR, Air America, racist Tom Joyner’s staff, etc.
Nobody is saying they don’t.
I find it stunning that people are so afraid of conservative radio–just don’t listen. That’s what I do for those commentators that I don’t agree with.
I’m afraid you misunderstand why we talk so much about right-wing radio. For one thing, they spend a lot of time spreading lies and false information. (It isn’t left-wing media that’s making the moronic claim that Obama is not a natural-born citizen.) And when we hear people like Newt Gingrich go on TV and lie about Nancy Pelosi (she never once said that “the CIA lies to Congress all the time”, which Newt claimed knowing it was a lie), we’re not going to let it go unchallenged. The reason we pay attention to what they are saying is so that we know what conservative-minded people are being told by the people they listen to. To be perfectly candid, much of it isn’t true.
They wouldn’t have so much influence if they were ignored.
We wish they would be ignored, but they aren’t, and people believe what they are being told by them. That’s what concerns us, but we aren’t “frightened” of them, we’re frightened of what the people who listen to them will do. You do realize that those infamous “tea parties” became a magnet for people who wanted to protest Obama over what Bush started?
It seems to me that the two parties are becoming rather uncivil with each other–too bad.
Now you’re switching over to political parties, rather than political philosophies. Do not make the mistake of thinking that either major political party is of pure ideology. We on the left are quite aware of how they work for he interests of corporations over those of the people, and it pisses many of us off.
We are Americans and we should stand side by side, even with different views.
Well, I am willing to stand side-by-side with anyone who has informed opinions. I refuse to support people who based their beliefs on lies and falsehoods.
I hope this helps you better understand just where you stumbled into.

May 23rd, 2009 at 12:58 amSadly, Mr. Steele is correct – The New York Times, after the election, stated that they and several other papers had not bothered to print stories related to Obama that were negative in nature with facts to back them up – The liberal press and TV did a number on this last election – Did I want another George Bush – NO! Did I want another Clinton – NO – But I do not think it is up to the press and/or journalist to decide who wins by slanting the news – It would be nice if journalists would report unbiased for a change and let the American people decide on true facts for a change – I wish President Obama well and pray that he makes the right choices for us all – no matter who was elected, this has to be the hardest time in presidential history and we owe respect to him for trying to correct the last few presidents mistakes.

They see us as “afraid” of conservative radio, as if pointing out inaccuracies, distortions and outright lies were an act of cowardice. They see “hate”, as if arguing against simplistic, even ignorant and uninformed bias is the most hateful thing they can imagine.
It’s almost as if they think that all they have to do is label another’s opinion as “hate” and all the heavy lifting is done. They don’t have to then address the substance of what was said.

May 23rd, 2009 at 1:02 amWow. I wonder what wingnut site linked to this thread about ten minutes ago.
Whenever we have a wide influx of new right-wingers espousing the same lame talking points (”teleprompter!” “empty suit” “liberal media”) they usually turn out to have come from a common source. Sometimes it’s Drudge, sometimes it’s Redstate, who knows… but they all seem to think they have something to offer, and it always turns out to be the same thing as every other wingnut clamoring to be heard.
It’s kinda sad, really, that this seems to be the best that their side can offer.

May 23rd, 2009 at 1:12 amAs a surgeon and phrenologist, my findings on those exhibiting signs of achlorophyllaceous contrition (white guilt), are that this condition is usually accompanied by severe depression, low self-esteem, and nervous energy (often described as being a nervous wreck). Simply put, this condition is analogous to living the life of a waterbug. After reading the many comments on this site, I am pleased to say that only one-third of the folks posting comments are manifesting signs of the aforementioned condition. On a separate topic, I was just curious, since most of the folks commenting seem to have an answer for everything, maybe one of you can answer this question. Why does the President insist on keeping his college records sealed? Also, did it not strike anyone as strange that the President throughout his campaign insisted on speaking so admirably of Abraham Lincoln, a man who would never have shaken the President’s hand because of the color of his skin.

May 23rd, 2009 at 1:41 amThe jokes on here are getting really lame. Let’s just settle this once and for all. Not all Democrats are cowards. It’s impossible for either political party to always be wrong. And Barack is not a “magic negro.” However, I do have a concern with trusting a man who has difficulty giving a straight answer to a simple question about a cigarette habit.

Night, ralph, Annie!
May 23rd, 2009 at 1:43 amI think Steele is right that Obama wasn’t vetted. When Obama first started campaigning I was to see what he was about. The only thing he did was strut around on stage running his mouth but never said anything. He told about a book he wrotewas the first thing he really said. All at once he drew a crowd and even had some girls dancing for him.The crowds he had didn’t seem to care what his issues were. Then it got out about the church Obama had attended for 20 years and the sermons were radical racist anti American. It also got out Obama grew up Muslim. It came up about McCain wasn’t born in the USA and when that got to Obama he wouldn’t produce his birth certificate and when he did it was found to be a forged fake one that showed he was born in Hawaii instead of Kenya Africa like his grandmother said. The lies kept stacking up after that. The mainline media tried to cover for Obama except Fox News. ACORN even was out there fixing votes and had as many dead people registered to vote as the live ones.To this day Obama has yet to produce a legal birth certificate and he never released his finances of how he paid to attend all the ivy league schools and colleges being he was so poor as he says. There was some underworld things going on that helped Obama side step the legal things that would have kept him out of the running. Obama seen right off he has to distance his self from his radical friends like Rev.Wright,Ayers,Soros, and others to get elected. Between a fixed elections and the lies and the charm Obama put on the people was what got him in office. Now we have us a socialist trying to over throw this country that slipped in the back door. Obama is not a Democrat or a Republican he is a radical liberal socialist.

May 23rd, 2009 at 1:44 amWhere did all these ill-informed people come from?
I will defend with my life their right to express their views, I just wish they would stick to views supported by facts, and keep the kinds of comments they’re posting here to themselves.
Have a good night, everyone.
Remember the Fallen as you celebrate your Memorial Day weekend, the ones who gave their lives to defend the right of people to come here from a wacky website to unload their urine-soaked ideas.
And I hope Sarah Fisher wins the Indy 500.

Gee, how condescending of you. Now, do you seriously think that all liberals are retards, or would you consider changing your screen name? I would certainly never go to a right-wing website with a screen name like, oh, say, “RightiesArePhuckingIdiots.” It’s rude.
“However, I do have a concern with trusting a man who has difficulty giving a straight answer to a simple question about a cigarette habit.”
And I had a concern about trusting a man who failed at everything he ever did in his adult life, among many other reasons.
Everyone have a safe holiday weekend, and don’t forget to honor our fallen heroes. Good night.

May 23rd, 2009 at 2:38 amI vetted Obama my own way, looking into his past. I read his book, study his freinds, wife, who they spent time with in their school days and what they did together in the ’90s. Learned about Al Mansour, Ayers ( who he spent over 100k with), Rezko, Wright, Khalic K and many others. I found his training book, Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky, that it was dedicated to Lucifer. I found he thaugh whites were typical racists. I concluded hes a narcissist, marxist, dreamer. And he was born in Kenya.
Oh,one more thing, it was always made know, HE HATES AMERICA and OUR CONSTITUTION! He also despised any black who didn’t support him.
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:42 amI think this guys is right for the most part, not completely, any reporter that wouldn’t jump at the chance to reveal a secret about a candidate is a complete idiot. Ironically, only one news station did bring out the history of both candidates and dragged it into the light. But I was led by the media that they supported Obama a lot more than McCain. Someone on the top said that we can go on the internet to find info on candidates, or something like that, and while he’s right, almost nobody did this year. If anyone did, they would have seen that Obama completely did a 180 on a lot of his believes, so he would be popular to the people. Obama didn’t win soley on race either, he won because he is a great speech giver, and the record turn out on younger generations and minorities. In other words, the stupid half of America that never cared before, and wanted a young black president over an old cripple, and the ones that were seduced by his speech giving and false promises. I also found it very ironic and underhanded even pointing out the voting with bush 95% of the time. McCain had to sell his soul to the republicans to even get a chance to run again, or he wouldn’t have made it as far as he did. Anyone that did research would have also found out that McCain hated bush for what he did in 2000, if bush didn’t smear McCain, he would have been president then, and we would have been far better off. But it won’t matter in 10 years because we will be under the brave leadership of Comrade Obama, and he will stamp out any thoughts of rebellion, and have complete control over our souls, kind of like in the movie “1984″
May 23rd, 2009 at 3:08 amIt’s the vetting going on post-election that B. Hussein Obama needs to concern himself. ACORN will be just the tip of the iceberg. His being born by a Moslem father bears watching among those in the Moslem world who don’t think much of those who profess Christianity (albeit I doubt his Christianity coming from a church that embraced Louis Farahkan). Many think Obama told as many lies as he had to to get white America to elect him and without white votes he would not have been elected president of the USA. (The irony is that it will be those same white voters who will kick his derrier out of the White House in 2012 because Obama, Pelosi, Reid (who half of his Utah constituency polled now want him out of office) Barney Franks, Chris Dodd all seem members of the “Biggest Liars in America” club and most Americans still have the propensity to sniff out a liar (and then not re-elect them).
May 23rd, 2009 at 3:09 amthats what you would think sir James, but unfortunately I think your wrong, most people hated bush with a passion, but he was re-elected. the one quote i always like to use for Obama is “in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king,” but I have no idea what thats from. Funny how “NONE” of the major liberal TV networks or cable news networks picked up on any of this, yet they all but destroyed what most now seem to think is a decent, Christian woman. The Obama hit squad destroyed her (for the moment) but most Americans don’t like their white women being treated as such. A Message To Obama: What you do in the dark will be found out in the daylight, pal. Personally, I think J.C. Watts of Oklahoma would have been a better “first black” president, but the liberal networks would not have been as intrigued with one with more visible and known morals, values and principles.

Wouldn’t you think Fox had picked up his book and ran away with it considering they were the GOP network?
I really doubt you read the book, but rather the Wingnut Cliff Notes on it…maybe an e-mail like this…
Subject: Obama and his thoughts from HIS BOOKS
I wouldn’t recommend purchasing his books, but checking them out from the public library
and verifying the quotes this is a dangerous individual that has not been truthful, evidently
with very much he has uttered in public. Particularly the last quote!
This guy wants to be our President and control our government. Pay close attention to the last comment!! Below are a few lines from Obama’s books ” his words:
From Dreams of My Father: “I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”
From Dreams of My Father: “I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”
From Dreams of My Father: “There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”
From Dreams of My Father: ; “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”
From Dreams of My Father: “I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.”
From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Holy Cow ! He’s lost his mind, and so has anyone that votes for him ! Go be President of a Muslim country, then !
Maybe you should read the quotes in context…instead of cherrypicking like you conservatives love doing…
May 23rd, 2009 at 3:39 am“Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Read the quote in full context and then judge it, instead of some GOP talking points memo abridged version of it…

Bush knew once he made the decisions he had to make (Iraq) that he would not be popular long-term, although each day Obama is president Bush and Cheney’s approval ratings are slowly climbing upward. Cheney kicked Obama’s butt the other day simply telling the truth with his expository of why their administration did what they did with water-boarding (which the Socialst Democrats are cleverly using IMHO as a diversion so they can a quarterback sneak some of their other left-wing ideas they do not want Americans to pick up on what they’re doing). THE IRAQ WAR: I’ve never thought Iraq was a bad move as I saw Dictator Sadaam Hussein as a human “weapon of mass destruction” alone. I’m sure if he were still alive that he and “our” Hussein “O” would be glad-handing each other while Obama would be apologizing to him for America. TODAY’S AMERICAN PARENTS: This country’s parents of military-aged sons have forgotten (if they ever really knew) that our helping of the birthing of democracy in oppressed countries still reqires the sacrifice of American blood, but (after all) their sons and daughters grew up playing video games, going to Saturday soccer in mom’s SUV, MTV, etc, etc, etc, and war was something that only “great grandpa” did–not their kids. This, too, made Bush unpopular and his camera presence did not help him, either. Ronald Reagan (who I admired) could be on TV and talk about the contras and you almost felt good hearing him talk about something he should not have been involved. On the other side of the coin, we all know what kind of silver-tongued “devil” (and I dont’ back down from usage of that word) that B. Hussein Obama is. Hellsbells! Are we going to get to watch this self-serving ego-maniac who has not met a microphone or TV camera he didn’t like take a televised potty in a White House bathroom before the liberal TV networks are done with the “non-stop” daily coverage of their annointed one? Still funny that with such coverage how their liberal TV network’s ratings (except Fox) seem to have (still) all gone down the toilet!

How did we protect our freedoms and further the birthing of democracy in Iraq? Why not go into the Congo where women are being raped and killed or Darfur where more of the same is happening? You said that Saddam was a weapon of mass destruction (gee, I guess we DID find the WMD then) but could not the same be said about Darfur or Congo? Why not go in there and why not Rwanda in the early 1990s? I do not buy your altruistic “we care so much about the humanity of the Iraqis that we HAD to take out Saddam” reasoning because of this double standard. Your insistence that we protect human rights by taking out brutal dictators is commendable and laudable, albeit unrealistic provided our limited manpower, but you are inconsistent when it comes to human rights with regards to torture.

May 23rd, 2009 at 4:09 am2. We want Americans DEAD because we do not support torture
3. Torture works, hell look at the link between Al Qaeda and Saddam provided by torture, even though it has been proven FALSE…
4. Our motive in the Middle East is to spread democracy…
5. Your use of B. Hussein Obama…as if Hussein is a smear…
6. Obama is a Muslim as if that’s the most heinous thing he could be…
7. Obama was not born in the United States…that’s really old…
Personally, I don’t think Obama will finish a 4 year term and I don’t say that with the tragedy of assassination being a reason why. There are other ways a president does not finish a term and I suppose Nixon would be just one example of that. I think Obama’s views are so out there, that is, so left wing socialists/communist that there will be such an uprising in this land by the silent majority to (somehow) have him re-called (impeached) in what would be a most historical precedent. I will say that B. Hussein O’s unabashed arrogance is part of his problem and the silent majority does not accept that from a white least of all a non-white. I suppose Obama thinks all of America is as sympathetic to his style & cause as south Chicago? Well, in a nutshell–we are not. May 23rd, 2009 at 4:35 amWell let’s see.
He is the president of what has been claimed to be the greatest nation on earth. He was elected to that position by the majority of the citizens of said great nation. His wife and children are as charming as he and overall it just bums you out….

Well, there are about 80 million of us freaks right here in America then. And our churches are full on Sundays with multi-Sunday services in most of those, too. So are we going to be put on Obama, Pelosi’s and the Homeland Security czar’s right wing list along with U.S. veterans and those coming back to the USA fresh from war in Iraq and Afganistan, too? If so, then good, we’ll be in good company and that would be an honor for us to be on such a list because that would also mean we are not one of them!

White Americans put B. Hussein O. in the White House and White Americans will send him back to south Chicago and ACORN in 2012 (or sooner); that is, if all the ACORN-ite leaders are not in federal prison by then.
I don’t think you have much to worry about there brave sir knight. Seems more like you are just trying to throw out some ill conceived scenario to try to discredit a president that you don’t like. May 23rd, 2009 at 4:57 amApproval rating has nothing to do with anything, honestly, anyone that craps rainbows is going to have a high approval rating. Sir James, I never said that I didn’t approve of going to Iraq, I only stated that McCain probably would have handled it better, which after thinking about it, I’ll change that to differently. The fact about Comrade Obama is he is flushing out country down the crapper. A perfect example of how dumb he is, is the car thing he just did. He is imposing a new minimum MPG i think, by like 2010, I don’t know the date. He wants new research done for this and a lot of our car companies are close to the poor house, and at the same time, hes still spewing his crap about how he wants to help jobs. Doing something like this will cost money for the car companies, causing them to lose MORE MONEY. so when the next big car company goes under, japan will be dancin, and well be losing more jobs, thanks to your neighborhood communist.

Thanks for clarifying that. If it is the prior, I would sincerely like to have a discussion around that idea

May 23rd, 2009 at 5:15 amI so look forward to the first child born in space. It will be cool. I
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:18 amdbadass:
My comment is somewhat goofy like, but should defiantly be considered as a possibility, however unlikely. Honestly, it is an extremest possibility of the future, but the second you close your mind to the possibility, is the second you make it a possibility. I honestly can’t read Obama, half the time he seems like a criminal mastermind, and the other half a total fool. Anyone that has read revelations will notice there are some real similarities to Obama, but the same can be said about at least 10 other presidents we’ve had, but then again I’m not really religious and completely disregard that part of the bible as a simple scare tactic.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:18 amon the born thing, McCain was born on a military base in Panama, if anyone’s interested in that
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:19 amMy spidey sense warns me this may be a trap but who can turn down a chat about the all pissed off angry god stuff going on in revelations?
Would it be rude of me to ask you to bullet the connections you see as related to President Obama? I think that might be an easier way to get started.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:23 amas I said, I personally are not religious, but ill look for points to enduldge you
He will rise from obscurity…a “little horn”
He will subdue three kings(hes workin on this one)
He will speak boastfully(Uber guilty)
He will not be succeeded by another earthly ruler, but by Christ(goes with communist ending lol)
He will show no regard for the religion of his ancestors
He will be worshipped by many people
He will hate a nation that initially will have some control over his kingdom, but he will destroy this nation
He will appear to survive a fatal injury(the assassination attempt)
His name will be related to the number six hundred and sixty six—but not necessarily in an obvious fashion (my actual disproving point that this “chapter” is meant to tell the future)
there, added ones that may happen as well, but as i have stated, i doubt this was anything but a scare tactic to first keep the few Christians at the time loyal, and later by the romans to keep people loyal to rome. the “number of the beast” was actually a referance to a jewish game for a name. for instance 666 is actually ceazers name.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:37 am“are not” lol, I’m tired
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:38 amso Obama is the antichrist then…Wow! I guess we’ve covered the playbook now. Thanks for the insight.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:43 amnot saying you believe it, but that talking point was out there…
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:44 amIt’s a Republican trick. They have Michael Steele up front and center to remind their constituents that black people are really bumbling stupid idiots. But that’s the trick…Black people ARE NOT bumbling stupid idiots, but how can you believe otherwise when Steele is on the air looking like a fool constantly? His use to his party is just the opposite of what he thinks it is.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:45 amhey man, dbadass asked for it, personally I think at least half that book is either rubbish or only added for “life lessons”
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:45 amWhat is the other half?
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:53 amTom m, at 11:52pm: Then you should read the quote again; I’m not a constitutional scholor either. That is why I quoted a Senate Resolution, passed by a committee of the Senate, chaired by a democrate-both parents need to be US citizens for one to be considered a Natural Born Citizen. Your could also read the Constitution to verify that one needs to be a Natural Born Citized to be eligible to be POTUS. I assume you can read. I’ll also assume you fit the catory of one who doesn’t care.
May 23rd, 2009 at 6:10 amIf all this shit were so, how did it happen? Insufficient checks and balances? Weird Antichrist powers so strong the hippie sandal guy’s dad got his ass whopped? George Soros did it?
Really what gives? If all these geniuses about the rule book wanna make this claim how come no one gives a shit and why did they never just go to court and win if it is so clear cut?
May 23rd, 2009 at 6:21 amMichael Steele is an Ambitious Puppet. He won’t take on Limbaugh, but he’s gunning for the President. The Republicans are wimps who are using Steele to do their dirty work. They have resorted to one of their previously used tactics taken from the Willie Lynch Handbook. Mr. Steele is certainly playing his role well. When the Republicans realize that their plan is not working, they will drop Steele just like the hot potato he is. Doesn’t he realize that he is being used. It’s the House -N; Field – N scenario from the era of American slavery.
May 23rd, 2009 at 6:55 amI used to like Michael Steele. I hoped he was serious about bringing diversity to the party.
May 23rd, 2009 at 7:07 amAnd about showing some “class”.
Now it’s obvious he’s perfectly happy to be what they hoped he would.
The black face they put on to disguise the racism of the right wing.
Nobody’s bamboozled.
Micheal Steel, its really a pity that you have shown not just America, but the entire world who vetted Obama in their own perspectives, that you are insane in all ramification. May God have mercy on you and as you dont appreciate good qualities in humans because of political posturing, be sure that you may not reach the climax Obama has attained in history.Greetings from Belgium.
May 23rd, 2009 at 7:26 amIf only Obama would let the world see his true birth certificate, not the one Hawaii will give anyone born anywhere, but the real one. It would be so easy to end the controversy, yet his lawyers continue to fight release of the document tooth and nail. Very odd, don’t you think?
May 23rd, 2009 at 7:38 amAt this point, it doesn’t matter who says what about Obama. ANY person talking trash about him is an ignorant racist – people seem mighty protective – mostly strangers who don’t know anything about him – ah almost everyone. I don’t know much about Steele, I’m not a republican or a liberal – but I do believe this…
Obama’s vetting was like a walk in the park for him. It didn’t matter what came up, the media down played anything negative or controversial about him – and the media worshipped him compared to others running, and the media, Oprah and people who are affected by smooth talking Ivy leaguers in general fell to the floor instead of using their heads.
At this point, anyone who criticizes the almighty will be called racist and ignorant.
It’s time to realize, no one knows much about Obama other than that he can shell out a speech similar to a Babtist preacher and have a huge following just because of it. And, he’s asking for money in the passing around of the collection plate – which he received on the internet during his campaign and he is now receiving from Americans via all of the bailouts.
Oh, and his wife can be accused of being a fashion icon.
Media – get a grip!
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:33 amThis is how Michael Steele got his position. Republican hacks:
Hack1: Hey that Black thing seems to be working really well. How can we cash in on that?
Hack2: Do we have one we can use?
Hack1: Yeah that Michael Steele has been real loyal let’s try him.
Hack1:Oh hey we’ve got that little Indian guy in Louisiana too.
Hack2:Right I forgot about him.
Hack1: Let’s try both of them. We’ll show how inclusive we are. Why I’ve got 3 negros,2 asians and an arab in my district.
Hack2: Yeah once we get one for the face of our party that’ll show’em.
Problem is most Black people view Michael Steele and Repugnicans as completely out of touch with Black America. I might sooner hire a Catholic Preist to babysit than join that bunch of racist idiots.
And where is Bobby Jindal now? He flopped in prime time and now they don’t need him. They have no use for him.
Wake up Steele that “houses n@#$%^,” act is all to obvious to everyone but you and your masters.
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:35 amSteele’s statement exactly nails the problem with the Republican Party: We won’t look backwards to examine our massive failures, but we won’t let the Democrats move forward. Party of “NO.” Party of “OBSTRUCTION.”
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:36 amThe idea that a Black man can get a pass like the one being asserted here is so ridiculous I wonder if the people entertaining it have their eyes open. Look at the state of black men in America and tell me that President Obama has somehow used his “magic negro” powers to hypnotize the populace.
If Sarah Palin can be anywhere on the radar, at any time in the history of this country as a potential president then you don’t need to talk about President Obamas vetting. Your concern should be for the sanity of the part of the poulation that would allow a dithering idiot like Palin so close to the White House.
Don’t be angry because Obama has poked a hole in the ignorant negro theory. Move on.
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:53 amWoW! THAT’S THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK!!!
May 23rd, 2009 at 9:11 am…
Does this poor guy not realize, that he was appointed Chairman of the Republican National Party *only* because HE IS BLACK ?? And the Repubs tried to counter the election of Obama with such a feeble and transparent attempt to show how open-minded they really are? (NOT!) As usual, listen to what they say and BELIEVE THE EXACT OPPOSITE! I just wonder if these poor schmucks actually believe their own rhetoric… (Nobody else does, that’s for sure.)
and so the story goes…
trashing Palin doesn’t negate the Obama problem! trading one minority slap for another. Woman versus black man – nice try.
So Palin didn’t graduate from Harvard you say, and she’s not a smooth talker or speech giver – so she’s an idiot.
Hmmmm…
What do we call people who call women idiots? Certainly not racist ignoramuses.
A white girl who knows how to use a gun is much spookier than a Black man who comes from Harvard. I get it.
May 23rd, 2009 at 9:13 amSkin color makes absolutley no difference as a qaulification for public office. However, many in America feel guilt about our slave history and saw that a vote for a black man would atone for those sins. It doesn’t and now look at the mess we are in.
We elected a man who refused to take a position in the Illinois legislature; voting present and never for or against a piece of legislation before him. We elected a man who never in his US Senate stent authored or co-authored a single piece of legislation. We elected a man with very questionable ties to a domestic terrorist, questionable teachings from a nut-job Preacher, Acorn voting fraud ties and questionable favors and gifts along the way. We elected a man with plans to suck the life out of individual achievers, with plans redistribute wealth, and with socialist ideology.
Vetted? No. Brought in on a wave of disgust with government and questionable actions by the Bush administration; Yes.
Get him away from his teleprompter and he doesn’t have an original thought. Don’t take my word for it…listen to him when he is not giving a speech.
Hey, I’m a republican and I was embarrassed by Bush. It’s time both sides put this partisan crap aside and that we as voters elect qualified people to get us out of this mess. We should ALL stop voting along party lines and find out who these people are before we vote for them.
May 23rd, 2009 at 9:32 amyes, I get the guilt thing. Some people have a conscience when they do something wrong.
Certain groups in our history have been treated horribly by white men – American Indians, blacks and Jews.
White women, and women in general are still discriminated against just because they are women. Gender discrimination in the form of less pay, etc.
Electing someone out of a guilty past action is an invitation for an ass beating of some kind. People barely know how to forgive each other, much less an insane group allowed to mistreat and murder due to out of control ego and greed.
It’s a problem – the whole thing. Our freedoms according to the intention of the Constitution of the United States are slipping away from us.
We’ve gone soft electing Obama for the only reason of being embarassed by Bush, and not having another powerful choice other than Hillary – ye gads – she’s a woman! No way were the men of this country (and some women who don’t understand the power in women), black or white going to allow a female President…a woman is surely worse to have as President than a black man.
Cough!
May 23rd, 2009 at 10:11 amNot that I have any reason to respond, I’m retired, myself. Plus I have a cold so I didn’t feel like socializing. As for the rest, although it bears the precision of a copy-paste, it could be a contender for the word salad award. I’ll leave that for others to judge.
Petie… the only cut and paste was the links, I’m sorry that you didn’t take the time to absorb the information I put forward; rather obviously skimming through and developing a response as you read thereby not really thinking about what I posted. We’ll just blame that on the cold… I like your setup there, very lackadaisical… I can envision you sitting in front of your computer pretending to yawn and stretch your arms before really getting into the nitty gritty… Bravo
As for your concerns about President Obama’s record thus far compared to his “campaign promises”? Some are well deserved if not particularly objective.
You are correct, sir. They are. Period.
Here’s my take:
Obama announced a 16 month deadline for Iraq as conditions allow and always said that events would influence his plans. I don’t know where you got the “favors Palestine”.<— watch the video in the first link… you can research as suggested to glean more information, we’re never too old to learn, right??
He said he would change the personnel and policies governing national security and that’s what he’s doing. There are some things that I would prefer to see handled with different priority but I’m basically pleased with the young Administration, and I’ll tell ya why.
Obama has done exactly as I had hoped based on his history and the campaign.
I’m sorry Petie, this part just made me laugh… his history? Please, do tell. Which part of his history is he pulling from?
He’s made rational, even when I disagree, decisions based on real-time events. I didn’t vote for a dogma. I voted for a capable person who, apparently, has the ability to get things done. And he’s done it without anger, bluster, or drawing lines in the sand.
Come on, Petie… everyone knows John McCain is a hothead; As far as a Dogma, McCain crossed party lines on many different occasions… but I forgot, his arms didn’t go all the way up and he was old.
After that point it just seems to trail off into a bunch of vague conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios. The fact of the matter is that America has to pay up for past excesses. However, since you mentioned fuel prices, you can’t blame that on the “libruls”.
Ok Petie, here’s where you lost me… I don’t remember placing blame on a particular party; maybe it’s the cold talkin’ again. I never said Republicans were great; and I don’t attempt to disassociate present administrations from those in the past. Both parties have done their fair share of mucking up siht. You’re retired, so you should have plenty of time to do a little lookin’ at what California is going through right now. Poor Arnold, that meathead, he shoulda stuck with movies. Look at the mess California is in, and their debt ratio isn’t near what the country’s is. If you are naive enough to think that we won’t be entering a period of hyper-inflation; you haven’t taken the time to look into it. These aren’t conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios; peel the blinders off your head, man! Look it up.
Here’s a starting place. Look into China’s military growth rate. Who in the hell do they have to worry about attacking them? Look into their stockpiling of steel. Look up how much of our country they own now.
Nobodies stirring the pot on this aspect, petie. It’s information provided as is to hopefully help whoever’s reading to question their facilitated and crammed down your throat mantras… whichever side of the line they fall.
I appreciate your response and the concessions you made on some things… It’s funny that we’ve come to a time nowadays that no one wants to take the time to read anything over a paragraph and it gets coined word salad. Just one more thing. Did you notice how many people didn’t respond to my little snippet? I hope that means that some of these poltroons actually gained something from it.
That’s the biggest problem with the world today… everybody is formulating their rebuttal before they even finish reading… no one takes the time to process information anymore…
Oh holy hell, Petie! POST # 136?? Really? You pass a wide swath over the second half of my post as conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios and you post that??
Well, spawndex, you fail to mention that there was not a single American terrorist victim, aside from the anthrax attacks, between 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan. In fact, no government can be traced to a single death before or after 9/11.
What a weak argument Petie. Why don’t you just watch a couple of dirty dozen movies or something… You don’t sneak in and kill a couple of people before you mount any kind of attack… why rouse suspicion? They aren’t foxes in the hen house…
Little did we know that 9/11 was just a small taste of the horrors to come and it would be our fault. That’s what the trolls can’t let themselves admit. All the shit after 9/11 is America’s fault.
Another weary soul with a short attention span… Directly post 9/11; Oh the horror! The horror! a couple of years into it… Oh.. is there still a war? a couple of years later… how come this is taking so long??? Can’t we just leave already?? Mommy, I’m tired!!
And the second that Bushco abandoned the mission to catch Bin Laden, and the first bomb fell in Baghdad, it turned into a effing Crusade. All pretense of a punitive mission against the worst terrorist, which the Arab World understood and respected, was pissed into the sand.
This is case in point what I’m talking about. You didn’t see much in the news from either side about Afghanistan… so… it wasn’t happening; right? That’s what you’re saying, that if it wasn’t being crammed down your throat by the media, it couldn’t have been happening.. Peel the scales off, Petie. You insult yourself at your long tooth stage…
conspiracy theories and doomsday predictions, my foot… you make a lack of knowledge and a slim grasp of the bigger picture sound intelligent, but you’re just regurgitating formula-fed media scat…
You call my rhetoric word salad because you lack the attention span to take it in and absorb it. Weak, I Say to YOU, Petie!!
May 23rd, 2009 at 11:19 amI still preferred the bulletted list to the unabomber inspired manifesto…
May 23rd, 2009 at 11:30 am“Get him away from his teleprompter and he doesn’t have an original thought. Don’t take my word for it…listen to him when he is not giving a speech.”
I have listened to him when he is not giving a speech. Apparently you’ve never seen him in interviews, or responding to the press’s questions. He speaks thoughtfully and intelligently.
Again I ask, don’t any of you trolls remember Bush’s halting, simplistic, garbled words? The man shamed the English language.
And I would never take the word of anyone who uses the ‘teleprompter’ line. It’s just too ridiculous.
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:01 pmwhy defend the obvious?
Obama’s got a halo around his head – can’t everyone see it?
that’s like saying Bush was just a bad speaker, and that’s why everyone disapporoved of him.
duh…

May 23rd, 2009 at 5:05 pmI remember how George Bush managed to have his TANG records “disappear”, and then, as president, he decided to have his Texas gubernatorial records locked away so that historians and investigative journalists would have no access to them. No one on the right complained about that.
I’m sorry. That was O/T. And out loud.
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:21 pmi love how people see everything through filters.. liberals dismiss conservitivs and ignore facts that opose thear beleafs and so do conservitavs..
tell me in the lead up to the war in iraq who was leading the charge in the senate? there’s plenty of archived video footage of her… it was hillery. and the fact is the dems only began to opose it when it was time to ramp up for election sesion. but people forgot that when it was time to oust bush.
honestly i find it desturbing when a war is politicised. how are you honoring those that gave thear lives by esentialy saying that we were wrong to oust a homicidal dictator? and yes sadam had WMD the proof is burried in mass graves filled with his own people. the problem is we gave him too mutch time to despose of them or send them to iran before the war.
durring the ram up to the war in iraq there was brief media coverage of a convoy of semi’s goinng from iraq to iran.. and nobody can say what was on that convoy.
and yes there were many mestakes both before and durring the war. both wars were flawed as are all wars. no war goes as planned or w/o unforseen problems.
and obama does have 2 acomplishments in his life.. both of them being winning elections.. before taking office he had less than 1 year experiance in elected office with virtualy no votes on any substintave issues unlike every other president before him in recent history there is nothing concreet about how he would govern in office all people had to go on was his word, his associations, and what he and the media would allow to be known.
and surly some people could be willing to admit that they voted for him simply because there was no way they would vote for any republican following bush, and some voted for him because he was black, but the majority voted for him because of his speeking abilities.
and if you look at how he’s running the country on social, economical issues it looks alot like he’s preping for socialisim.. ovcourse nobody on the left is objective enough to admit it or they prefer socilisim and are in the closet about it..
and with respect to watterboarding and the mess it is.. the kind of waterboarding the japaneese were prosicuted for and the kind we used are 2 compleetly different things the only simmilarities they share is the use of watter and the name.
and if watterboarding is torture than we better stop torturing our marine recrutes.. because every one of em is watterboarded durring traning..
it was beleaved neccicary durring the beginning after 9/11 because we had no idea if another attack was emminent, the terrorists had been traned to resist normal interrigation, and despite pelosi’s apparent lies she and every other dem with the need to know new and never objected. let us not forget that these people that we waterboarded are the kind of people who videotape the beheading of civilians and post it on the web. so in my view these people are too high a priority to shut down..
and yes there were terrorist attacks against america before 9/11 they just all happened outside of america on foreghn soil.. these attacks were happening all the way back when clinton was in his first 4 years. it was just the politicly corect thing to do to ignore it and atempty to criminaly prosicute those involved as if we wernt at was despite alquida’s decloration of war against the U.S
and steele’s coment about obama is verry harsh and politicly incorect.. porly worded but the meaning it true the liberal leaning media was blatantly biased twards him.. commentators and reporters were overflowing with it.
the media is suposed to be objective, unbiased, and report on fact not feelings, or from an ideolocical view.. but this hasnt been the case for many years thus msnbc, cnbc, and the like have the lowest ratings ever.. and the news paper industry is falling apart by the day.. partly because of the rise of the internet, 24/7 news, and also because of a heavy obvious bias.
unfortunalty its human nature for people to beleave what they want to beleave and its easy for people to ignore facts that counter thear opinions.. and its easier to follow the leader than it is to take the blinders off and lead you’re own path. and most countries fail because of turmoil from within being the root cause even when an outside forct takes the killing stroke.. i just hope that the intelectual war between liberals and conservitavs doesnt cause the ultimate down fall of america.

May 23rd, 2009 at 9:26 pmOK for all of the ignorant people out there-FYI Obama is and has been a United States Citizen all of his life . He was Born in Hawii, HOwever his Father was Born in Kenya, Obams Mother was Born in America. His father being from Kenya was born to Islamic decent, so is Obama following in his fathers footsteps and trying to turn this country Islamic? yess
May 23rd, 2009 at 11:59 pmAlectimmerman, do you really think that a Conservative, no matter his race, will ever be given the free ride the media gave Obama? It makes your question self-evident.
I always ask why no one ever brings up Alan Keyes. Limbaugh explicitly stated blackness, and not policy, was the only consideration for Colin Powell. Alan Keyes disproves that. Same thing here, why didn’t the media get behind Keyes of Steele’s assertion is true?
May 24th, 2009 at 1:59 amUnless Steele stays in simply for the money (token positions, book sales, etc…), I think he’s eventually gonna leave the Republican party. Maybe not. But, as a person of color myself, I don’t think there’s a high enough dose of Ambien I could take to sleep at night selling myself out like Steele does.
May 24th, 2009 at 11:34 pmspawndex, you have nothing but GOP talking points…but it is clear you did not cut and paste them. Bravo!
May 25th, 2009 at 1:16 am
