Isn’t it funny how practicing what one is taught makes them a target. My daughter is half black half white and when she is around other AA’s they tease her about how she speaks telling her she does not sound ‘black’. When she was young I always corrected her when she mispronounce a word because I did not want her to be teased about not saying a word right.
Seems no matter what one does there is always someone who will attempt to challenge it.

I saved the following from the Dallas Morning News. It was excerpts from various college commencement speakers. This is what Harrie Miers, former White House counsel and Bush Supreme Court nominee, (vetted by Karl Rove) had to say at the Dallas Christian College commencement a few years ago:

“…When I first got to the White House I was told “Avoid at all costs typographical errors in the work you give the president.” When I asked “Why does the President care so much about a simple typographical error? the response was ‘[the President] worries that if you are careless in the little things, you’ll be careless in the big ones.”

They got their lessons by rote and non-conformity and free thought were bad.
