Bush still pre-screening questions at speaking events.

bush-olympics1Throughout George W. Bush’s presidency, his handlers always made a special effort to ensure his appearances with regular Americans were scripted in such a way that shined the best possible light on Bush and his polices. Whether he was meeting troops in Iraq, leading “Ask President Bush” re-election campaign events, or trying to sell his (failed) Social Security reform plan, Bush always had a friend in the audience ready to ask a softball question or heap praise on the president. It appears that old habits die hard, as those attending Bush’s upcoming speech in Michigan will be forced to submit their questions ahead of time:

Former President George W. Bush will make a stop in Michiana on Thursday. He is scheduled to speak to the Economic Club in Benton Harbor this evening. Mister Bush will answer questions that have been submitted.

Even though Bush recently acknowledged that it is “liberating” to no longer be president, he apparently still feels “pretty comfortable inside the bubble.”

Actually nitwit (it is one word), speeches are pre-planned. That is why they are called speeches. “Speaking from the heart” doesn’t necessarily jive with pre-approved questions and pre-formulated answers. The difference between a Q&A and a speech are about the same as the difference between a hug and a kiss. Both involve physical contact, but they are quite different.

I can’t decide which is worse, the village idiot screening his questions, or the bigger bastards who comprise bush’s audience or who submit questions (fully expecting anything enlightening or conclusive, presuming they’re not just hired bush relatives…)

In 2009, there are still people who think anything other than scripted and rehearsed replies are a possibility; like watching a modern-day candidate ‘debate’ to learn new information.

America is an unqualified disgrace for allowing bush to keep catapulting the propaganda; bush’s audience is yet a deeper disgrace to America for having no viable working synapses, or jut not bothering to employ them if they do.

You seem to be confusing politics with jazz. Believe it or not, politics is not actually an exercise in freestyle improvisation.

All successful politicians plan what they’re going to say before they say it. That’s what politicians do in order to avoid sounding like blundering idiots. They write speeches ahead of time. They rehearse anticipated questions before press conferences and debates. They know what they’re going to say before they say it.

Are you seriously trying to argue that Bush never pre-planned his speeches and never rehearsed answers to anticipated questions? If you’re going to make an allegation like that, you will need to provide some proof.

For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There’s a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those — changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be — or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It’s kind of muddled. Look, there’s a series of things that cause the — like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate — the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those — if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.” –George W. Well, Jordan (ph), you’re not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. And my chief of staff, Andy Card — actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower — the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, “There’s one terrible pilot.” And I said, “It must have been a horrible accident.”

But I was whisked off there — I didn’t have much time to think about it, and I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my chief who was sitting over here walked in and said, “A second plane has hit the tower. America’s under attack.”

Um…but so far there’s no conclusive proof whatsoever that the first impact was televised. No wonder bush has to be coached and his replies staged.

So, when has any other president ever, ever, sat (hid) in a children’s classroom after being pointedly told, “America’s under attack?”

  96. Patty says:

If only Obama had avoided direct, unscripted questions — we would’ve been spared the legend that is “(not)Joe not) the Plumber.”

Anyone who has watched tapes of Obama’s thoughtful, prolonged interaction with (not)Joe (not) the Plumber gives credit to the now-president for his patience and politeness.

Anyone wanna guess how much time Bush-as-a-candidate ever gave to someone who challenged him?

Regardless that your stupid link is an OP/ED piece to begin with ; how exactly is having a pre-selected list of individuals to have ask you a question , the same as screening the questions that are going to be asked ?

    Also from your link:

We doubt that President Bush, who was notorious for being parsimonious with follow-ups, would have gotten away with prescreening his interlocutors.

WTF? They “doubt” Bush would have gotten away with doing what he did for eight years?

Odd, because the link also includes this:

He had the same strange question about Fox News’s Major Garrett: “Where’s Major?”

So he’s including FAUX News on his list of people to ask him questions? In that case, who would he be excluding?

    That piece is immensely confusing.

  119. Patty says:

    to Romartin16985 and Merdad:

We cannot as a country “move forward” until we tend to the mess left by the previous administration.

Kinda like the circus: when the elephants parade across the ring, they draw lots of attention ’cause they’re big and loud and lumbering. Unfortunately, there’s always a follow-up crew to scoop up afterwards.

Doubly unfortunately, we’ve got more than just elephant poop to clean up after Sir George and Company. We’ve got the tarnished image of our country because of torture. And there’s no “…but, but, but Clinton” to deflect blame on this one. Bush owns it. Entirely. All on his watch.

Little wonder he screens all questions and attendees.

  136. Wang111 says:

Oh my God: George W. Bush murdered Margie Schoedinger, and he is free and going around giving speeches. This injustice is horrifying.

(I refer to myself in the third person (“THE DISSEMINATING MACHINE”) in this note because I really like the sound of my nickname. I understand that it would in general be odd to refer to oneself in the third person.)

On June 10, 2009, “THE DISSEMINATING MACHINE” will start to disseminate thousands of copies of the post indicated below onto the Internet at lightning-like speed. By the end of June, one will be able to go to Google, type “George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her,” hit “Enter,” and find 1,000 or more copies indicating content of the post indicated below. If not—it would only be because the name “George W. Bush” has become substantially less popular on the Internet, and searches relating to “George W. Bush” would thus have turned up less results.

    EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!

    NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE!

If anyone believes that any non-Jewish Caucasian U.S. president within the next few decades has murdered any racial minority in the disgusting way George W. Bush murdered Margie Schoedinger, please contact “THE DISSEMINATING MACHINE” immediately (by leaving one’s complaint at http://andrewyu-jenwang.blogspot.com/2009/01/online-anti-bush-educational-scholastic.html “Post a Comment”), and “THE DISSEMINATING MACHINE” will disseminate thousands of copies of the relevant scandalous presidential information onto the Internet at lightning-like speed (including worldwide dissemination into numerous foreign countries if necessary—in the case that any non-Jewish Caucasian U.S. president has murdered “NUMEROUS” racial minorities in the way George W. Bush murdered Margie Schoedinger). The lovely, beautiful, and great countries of Russia and China are always by default informed of whatever scandalous presidential information—thousands of copies (general dissemination onto the Russian and Chinese Internet, dissemination into Russian and Chinese legislative and executive government units, Russian and Chinese national-security government units, etc.). Copies in Russia and China (general foreign Internet dissemination) shall indicate that the presidents of Russia and China are to be immediately informed of the information relating to scandal(s).

COPY OF POST OF JUNE 2009:

    SCANDAL! SCANDAL! SCANDAL!

George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her.“In her suit [against George W. Bush], Margie Schoedinger states that George W. Bush committed sexual crimes against her, organized harassment and moral pressure on her, her family members and close relatives and friends. As Schoedinger said, she was strongly recommended to keep her mouth shut. In addition to that, three unknown men attempted to kidnap her on October 26, 2000. . . . Furthermore, she alleges that George Bush ordered to show pressure on her to the point, when she commits suicide” (http://www.drizzten.com/blog/2002/12/).

“One of those very least were George Bush’s personal complicity in the death (murder to be precise) of my friend Margie Schoedinger in September of 2003” (Leola McConnell (Nevada Progressive Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010). http://leolaforussenate.blogspot.com/2008/02/leola-mcconnell-for-us-senate.html).

Leola McConnell is correct: George W. Bush applying pressure (continuously criminally stalking Margie Schoedinger) purposefully to force Margie Schoedinger to commit suicide does in fact constitute murder.

George W. Bush is a racist hate criminal and hates black people (indicated at andrewyu-jenwang.blogspot.com).

George W. Bush hates all racial minorities

George W. Bush is a racist hate criminal

George W. Bush hates black people

George W. Bush dislikes or hates Jews in his heart and mind

George W. Bush is a raging racist

BEWARE: If the president of the United States hates one for whatever reasons, he can continuously criminally stalk one to the point that one cannot get away from it, and one ultimately commits suicide in desperation to escape—he can murder people in this way.

George W. Bush is getting away with his murder of Margie Schoedinger—with no sheriff, court, or prosecutor to uphold the rule of law.

George W. Bush’s method of murdering Margie Schoedinger cannot exist in a vacuum: he must have murdered other people in the same way.

George W. Bush should confess, come out with the names of all of the people whom he murdered in the disgusting way he murdered Margie Schoedinger, undergo execution, and accordingly find himself at the intersection where he would be free.

(There are thousands of copies of the information above on the Internet. It exists very extensively in all major search engines. Please feel free to go to any major search engine, type “George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her,” and hit “Enter.”)
