Tancredo: ‘I don’t know’ if the Obama administration ‘hates white people.’
Recently, Rush Limbaugh declared that the way to get promoted in the Obama administration is “by hating white people.” On MSNBC this afternoon, when David Shuster asked right-wing extremist Tom Tancredo whether he agreed, Tancredo refused to object to Limbaugh’s characterization:
SHUSTER: Mr. Tancredo, do you agree that the Obama administration hates white people?
TANCREDO: Oh [sighs], I don’t know. But I’ll tell you this –
SHUSTER: You don’t know? In other words, they might?
TANCREDO: What do I — I have no idea whether they hate white people or not!
Shuster also asked Tancredo whether he wanted to apologize for calling the the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights organization a “Latino KKK.” Tancredo laughed at the idea of an apology. Watch it:

The racists and bigots who have crossed paths with me in my life (I did not seek them out), would often express ignorant comments about some group (minorities, gays, liberals, whatever), but would always admit that the ones from that group that they knew personally were alright.
I used to work with an openly gay man who actually made some of the homophobes at work nervous enough to make it known to management that they didn’t like the idea of him being hired. But then, over the three years he worked with us, they got to know him and even like him. He was okay in their books. Sadly, it didn’t seem to change their opinion of all those other gays out there that they didn’t know.
And yet they would bristle at the idea of being called “bigots.” To paraphrase what a famous TV character once said, “They weren’t born wanting to hate like this.” Someone taught them to hate.

May 30th, 2009 at 2:43 amAfter reading Gawker’s email chain, it’s still pretty clear that Mancow was planning on making it look like he was undergoing the torture of waterboarding without actually being subject to the torture of waterboarding. But, whoops! it broke him anyways. That can happen. Somebody can accidentally do it right. Hint: it’s not very hard to torture people.
Like most of you wingnuts he wanted to put on a fake show, but accidentally got smacked upside the head with the truth.
I’m curious: which are you more angry about? That he accidentally broke, or that he was honest enough to admit it?
Curious #2: if you don’t believe him, are you personally willing to repeat his failed experiment?
Also worth a mention, they actually bold/highlight the following critical phrase, “Mancow will pay gas and parking.” Does his willingness to pay expenses expose him as a closet liberal or something?
To reiterate, here’s what we now know:
1) Mancow had intended to make it look like he was getting waterboarded when he was really trying to avoid any actual torture.
2) After the waterboarding, he admitted he had been really, actually tortured.
3) A right-wing talk-radio DJ has no financial incentive in disagreeing with the “Republican base” (I’m adding this one myself, I think it needs no explanation).
Obviously, the outlier is #2. Apparently, the guy’s too honest to be a “real Republican.”

He knew that the GOP would trot out their most anti-hispanic, anti-woman mouthpieces to trash her, further alienating the largest emerging voter blocs. But Tancredo? That was just a gift from Heaven. Obama held up the hoop and they just jumped right through it. It isn’t even that hard when you know exactly what your opponent will say and do before they even say or do it.
