Does Michael Steele Still ‘Follow’ G. Gordon Liddy’s ‘Footsteps’ And Will He Appear On His Show Again?

liddysteele.jpgYesterday, ThinkProgress reported that former Watergate crook and current hate radio host G. Gordon Liddy had launched perhaps the most offensive attack against Judge Sonia Sotomayor yet. “Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something,” said Liddy, adding that she speaks “illegal alien.”

One day after Liddy put his over the top sexism and racism on display, RNC Chairman Michael Steele called on conservatives to quit “slammin’ and rammin’” Sotomayor with personal attacks. Presumably, Liddy’s offensive rant is exactly the message Steele wants to cease, which raises the question of whether Steele will continue to associate himself with Liddy.

As ThinkProgress reported in March, Steele appeared on the Feb. 5, 2009 edition of Liddy’s radio show and told the hardline right-winger that he follows in his footsteps:

STEELE: So, I, you know, I follow the footsteps of guys like you who, you know, who, you know, set the bar and pushed and pushed and pushed and made sure that we could obtain the results that would benefit people in communities, fighting for the rights of individuals and making sure that, you know, we don’t back down. Our opponents don’t back down. Why do we?

Listen here:

So, the question is: In light of Liddy’s degrading rhetoric, will Michael Steele continue to make appearances on his radio show or will he take a stand and refuse to appear with someone who so harshly disrespects women and Latinos?

I think Sotomayer should and will be confirmed.

I also think that her comment about Latino women making better decisions than white men sounds bigoted and is important to discuss.

I think as our society progresses, we should consider that bigoted comments and attitudes that we have found reprehensible of the fading white establishment aren’t appropriate or acceptable simply because they come from someone outside that demographic.

If we are going to hold white people to account for what they do and say, those same standards must apply to everyone; universally.

As politically damaging as this issue can be for conservatives, I’m glad they are raising the issue.

We should not condone politically correct bigotry.

I also think that the best way to back up charges of racism is not through more racist remarks.

I’m all for vetting Sotomayor. That’s the democratic thing to do, especially for a judge nominated for the highest court in the nation. However, pundits will not make their point by smearing Sotomayor’s name with more racism.

It sounds bigoted if you don’t at least read the preceding bloody paragraph, you are not aware of the larger context of the speech, and don’t care to know about the theme of the conference where she delivered said speech.

In other words, if you are willfully ignorant of the situation, too lazy to look up the speech and read it, and/or too obtuse to understand plain English -then yes, it does sound bigoted.

backup, Katy is right. Read the entire quote in context and you will find it is not as it has been excerpted and characterized in the media.

Among many others, Alito said nearly the same thing with nary a comment. This has been a successfull smear by the rightwing machine – and like all their smears, it is misconstrued, misrepresented, misleading, yet ubiquitous — therefore people believe them.

  14. Gregor Samsa says:

    Liddy is one repulsive blowhard.

I noticed not a single one of our conservative visitors has said anything against his repugnant comments, and choose to slam Sotomayor as the “affirmative action” candidate instead.

Could it be that what lies at the core of the American conservative movement (and what holds it together) is racism, sexism, and plain old ignorance and bigotry?

    My money is on yes.

  15. dhampton100 says:

If Michael Steele is not an ”choice of color pick” or an Republican party attempt at affirmative action then Al Sharpton is a white man and Snoopdog should sit on the court. At they (KKK and Skinheads) just tell you they hate you, these lying, two-faced racist bastards look at you, with a straight face and just tell the American people any damn thing. Still they cannot figure out why they have been marginalized in our society. Good, let them keep at it, pretty soon they will be all that’s left of a once dominate party-sitting on a rickety porch talking about the “good old days” when we used to keep them people in their place.

I concede the context argument. Context is important. That’s why I said it ’sounds’ bigoted. Sotomayor is intelligent. I don’t believe her intention was to be bigoted.

Do progressives and minorities weigh the context when they charge whites or conservatives with racism or bigotry?

Sure you think it’s bigoted. Because you’re not really a thoughtful person; you just play one on the internet.

Did you actually read the speech from which the quote came?

Judge Sotomayor had just gotten through discussing a specific case in Minnesota in which, on a five-judge panel reviewing an appeal from a father who had abused his child to regain visitation rights, three judges denied his claim — all women. Two judges voted in favor — both men.

Judge Sotomayor mde the point that all judges bring their accumulated life experience to their decisions on the bench, and a jurist with the backgraound that Judge Sotomayor brings would be more likely to make better decisions in a case in which those experiences are important — for instance, sex discrimination — than a male judge who had not dealt with those issues in his life.

She did not say that a Latina will inherently make better decisions than a white male judge, although that’s the impression the Right is struggling mightily to give.

    How’s that for a discussion?

I encourage people to enforce the rule of “some”. If you claim that progressives and liberals do something, you’re providing the assumption that all of them do. Understand that there will always be exceptions to the rule when characterizing liberals.

Same goes for characterizing conservatives, guys. I believe that assuming things and stereotyping groups from the actions of an individual is dangerous grounds.

And yes, backup, I, for one always try to read the full statements of conservatives before accepting them outright as racist or bigoted words.

I wonder which footsteps those are exactly. Plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institution or the kidnapping of anti-war protestors and transport to Mexico during the RNC National Convention or breaking into Ellsberg’s psychiatrist’s office, or the break-in, planting of listening devices and burglary at both those sites? I’m a little confused about how that benefited people in our communities or was part of fighting for the rights of individuals.

  29. backup says:

    ralph.

my impression is that there is a double standard in regards to discussing race.

I don’t think Sotomayor is a racist or a bigot. I stated in my post that she should be confirmed.

But, I believe whatever standard we use as a society should be applied universally.

I find it hard to imagine that we would find it acceptable for a white, male to make the case that he was better than a minority or a female simply on the basis of his race or gender. Whatever the context.

I disagree with conservatives that charge she is a racist, or bigot. But, I think what they are doing, is illuminating the practice of knee jerk charges of racism and bigotry that’s been going on for quite some time.

Context is important. No one group has a monopoly on racism or bigotry. Just as we should consider the context of Sotomayor’s comment and her past record, we should afford the same consideration to her Caucasian brothers.

  30. Gregor Samsa says:

    backup Says:
Do progressives and minorities weigh the context when they charge whites or conservatives with racism or bigotry?

I can’t speak for others but I do.

And since we are on the subject, pray tell, what context would make this comment acceptable: “Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something”? How about this one “Miss Sotomayor is a member of La Raza, which means in illegal alien, ‘the race’”?

But that’s not what she said.

She was specifically talking about the fact that it took a woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court for it to uphold a sex discrimination suit, and black Justice to end segregation in public schools.

Unless, of course, you think the above are two very bad things….

  35. Wiz says:

If Steele goes on Liddy’s show he is endorsing Liddy’s comments. Lets see the GOP has now embraced racism, sexism, torture, and seccession. They have opposed economic failure, ending the war. They have a egotistical gas bag radio host for a leader and his bootlicker Steele. They have a former VP who is out trying to influence the future jury pool he will someday hopefully face. They sit around hoping the economic recovery fails, and we are struck by another terrorist so they can say “told you so” as the only way back to political power. Oh what a lovely party!

  36. Purple State says:

Knee-jerk racism, I feel, is a practice that sometimes cannot be helped. I definitely believe that the imagery used to incite the claims are what needs to be analyzed.

Are we to say that people should try to view images such as the White-House watermelon patch, the NY Post’s cartoon of policemen shooting a chimp who “authored” the stimulus bill, and the “Barack the Magic Negro” song as open-minded as possible? Sometimes it’s not so easy to do so. A delay of personal logic can sometimes be inevitable if images once associated with racism are displayed to make a point.

If people could reserve logic and reconsider the true meaning of images, then there would BE no racism. Everyone would be able to witness that an image or comment is offensive before they display it or say it. If the logic behind a symbol’s true meaning is to be completely dissected by the receiver, then it needs to be initially parsed by the conveyor.

    Merdad.

White men can be racist. So can minority men. And women can be bigots.

But, I believe many people that aren’t really racists or bigots are labeled that way out of expedience rather than substance. Charges of racism and bigotry are often used to discredit people, whether those charges are legitimate or not.

Although conservatives are wrong about Sotomayor, their charges help highlight a disingenuous practice that needs address.

  43. Lefty McGillicuddy says:

I have read the text of the Judge Sotomayor’s speech. In context, what she said isn’t racist at all. She covers the statements with so many caveats, that her intentions are clear to anyone who takes the time to read.

That being said, I think that Gibbs and Obama were correct to say that she probably would have said it differently today. A speech that you give to a group of people on one occassion doesn’t need to be as precisely composed as a text that is dissected and analyzed later. I’m sure that the audience was able to follow along with her speech and clearly understand what she was trying to say. The problem comes in when your political enemies come in with a fine tooth come looking for ammunition to use against you later. And that is the real reason why she would probably say it differently today, because it doesn’t reflect her intentions precisely enough, and it’s too easy to take out of context.

On the other hand, you don’t need to spend a whole lot of time dissecting and analyzing to figure out where Tancredo, Liddy, Gingrich and Limbaugh are coming from.

  59. Purple State says:

backup, I believe that it will be hard to really view racism in the minority sector until they comprise the majority. Here’s my belief on how the construct could be interpreted.

Racism, I believe, involves…and here’s that magic word…a degree of empathy.

If a degrading message is made by a majority to a minority, it is usually perceived as racism due to the minority’s inability to protect itself. Adding insult to “insult” if you will. The sense of empathy for that minority comes into play, a defense mechanism, so the finger-pointing towards racism comes relatively quickly, sometimes from those in the majority pointing at their own kind.

If a degrading message is made by a minority to a majority, there is some degree of racism involved. I find that to be without a doubt. However, I don’t feel the empathic factor comes into play unless the racist remark goes much farther than that of majority-to-minority. In other words, the majority has the ability to defend itself in numbers and in power. It would take a comment of a much higher degree of magnitude to invoke the “racism” clause.

Quite possibly, the election of Obama to the Presidency could change things. While the Caucasian sector is still the majority, the power is now held by a minority Presidency. I believe this intersection is what is causing repercussions within the concept of racism; Caucasians are still in the majority population-wise, but the power grid is shifted slightly.

I’m admittedly no expert at racism, but this is what I feel.

You might be right, X. Daryll set the gold standard.

But in my opinion, Daryll is pulling a Michael Jordan — trying to stay on top of the game when his best days are behind him. It taints his legacy as a parody troll, as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully Merdad can learn the lessons of Daryll’s mistakes.

Admittedly, Merdad has chosen a tougher career path. Where Daryll was a bible-misquoting Christianist regressive, Merdad seems to be aiming for the sweet spot of illiterate Rush-worshipping regressive. It’s a more difficult genre in which to work, I think. Kind of like choosing meaty dramatic roles instead of paper-thin action heroes.

They are expected to meet a standard others are not expected to meet.

I’ll use the ‘Magic Negro’ example.

There is a strong argument that the term (and song) is used in a repetitive way to incite racist tendency. I disagree with the use of the song, if that is the intention of it.

But, I believe that Limbaugh initially used the subject to highlight the disparity between what is acceptable for whites or conservatives as opposed to non-white, non-conservatives.

Limbaugh got the term from an op-ed in the L.A. Times:

    http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19,0,5335087.story?coll=la-opinion-center

The author, Ehrenstein is part African American and presumably, not conservative.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ehrenstein

In addition to commenting on charges from the left that Obama was not black enough, and his own charge that Obama was being used to placate white guilt; Limbaugh was making a point that if a conservative had used term ‘Magic Negro’, they would be labeled a racist for it.

As far as I know, I don’t recall much consternation over Ehrenstein’s initial characterization. Limbaugh, obviously has been charged with racism over his use.

I agree with your idea that a minority (regardless of who is in the minority) requires empathy. It follows that in the process of empathizing with the minority, we expect more from those in the majority. In the process of empathizing with the minority, we admonish the majority.

That different, or unequal expectation, runs counter to the idea of equality and may be at the root of the objection.

I can’t figure if Merdad is a real Republican”Village Idiot” or pretending. The Republican Party is in the same predicament. As they continue to slip in the polls, they take on more indefensible positions. Judge Sonia Sotomayor appears to be a viable candidate for the Supreme Court, and she is the Presidents choice. The side shows surrounding this candidate convince me she is the right person, and Obama’s timing is impeccable.
Steele, Liddy, Rush, Cheney and Rove being front men for the Republicans are reflected in the recent poll results (polls keep slipping). I believe no one is in charge of the RNC; these guys are self appoint free lancers with no clue to the terrible position the RNC put the country in, as well as their party. Their behavior concerning Sotomayor’s nomination clearly illustrates that point.
If this path is where they choose to take the Republican Party, it’s no wonder their leadership was rejected in the elections. Sad they can’t see the point.

Speaking of Limbaugh, rather than you trying to parse his use of “magic negro” into some deep analysis of the dynamics of race, why not simply apply Occam’s Razor and put it in the context of Limbaugh’s history?

    Limbaugh’s context:

    5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

    6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

    7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

b-cup, every time you launch into your defense of Limbaugh, you make yourself look foolish and you reveal your deficiency in intellectual analysis.

The term “Magic Negro” is a familiar one to any student of literature. The reference in Ehrenstein’s column is clear and completely in line with this use: as a figure who arrives from out of nowhere to solve problems for the white protagonist, through magic and a certain innate “wisdom”. He is not a fully formed character; he is a literary device.

This is hardly the sense in which Limbaugh uses the term, nor is it the sense in the song “parody” that Limbaugh played incessantly during the campaign.

Limbaugh used the op-ed to justify his exploitation of a serious literary term for simply ridiculing purposes.

You and others like you love to point to the original column and never fail to point out that its author is an African-American, but you never, ever relate the actual content of the column to the cynical misuse of its elements by Limbaugh.

tokin, her ability to restore balance to the supreme court may be questionable, but if confirmed she’ll be on a different turf. I’m confident she’ll end up on the Ginsburg/Breyer side facing the right-wingers. As you know, the case load of the Supreme Court has the most sway in affecting the spirit of law, so her empathy (whoop, there I go!) more than ever will come in handy to her and will be of greatest use.

I don’t want to make it seem as though I’m playing high and mighty. You do well with dissent here.

  81. Purple State says:

In all honesty, backup, my outrage towards the song was not as much towards Limbaugh’s use of the song. It was more towards Chip Saltsman’s use of the song when running for the RNC chair. A party should learn to push for their beliefs and policies as being right instead of pushing for the opposite party’s image as being wrong.

The term “Magic Negro”, I believe, does have the racial sting by itself, but not immensely. While it certainly does not have a connotation that is positive, I don’t see one image associated with it. I hadn’t heard much of it before more out of its non-application to social settings. In other words, I have heard much worse in terms of the characterization of an African-American.

However, I feel that the songwriter hadn’t considered the sting of associating a questionable racist image to that of a real figure in the world, as well as both being associated to a child’s song. I don’t think the songwriter seriously considered the immediate image portrayed by that mixture of terms, much in the same way that Sean Delonas didn’t realize what would happen if he put Obama’s stimulus bill with a chimpanzee.

Basically, the reason I included it is because, regardless of the message the song, the cartoon, or the image, the simple association by proxy was enough to be offensive. People did not gauge the initial outrage from racist perceptions of the image, and the receivers did not dismiss those images as being mere parody.

Racism is a problem we definitely have to address as minority turns to majority in America. However, I encourage society to not endorse racism as a means of Hammurabi’s Code (”eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth”). Even if Sotomayor’s comments are to be considered racist, I don’t feel Liddy was justified at all by countering racism with more racism and sexism.

  82. Hoodathunktick says:

If we were all blind and spoke the same language with the same accent, who would we hate?

  83. winddancer says:

Purple State: If a degrading message is made by a minority to a majority, there is some degree of racism involved.

I do agree with what you are saying. I have an interesting story to tell, however, which illustrates (I think) that empathy can be evoked within a minority group when a majority member is “attacked.” Years ago, I was good friends with a black performer who was a member of a (Black) combo that played in nightclubs. When I was about 21, I attended a party with a group of my (Black) friends at the club, and I was the only Caucasian (female by the way). There was a young man also at the table who took issue with my presence, i.e., “Why is this honky here? etc.) I simply said, calmly, that racism is an ugly thing, no matter who expresses it and who it’s directed at. All the other people at the table and the entire group of performers agreed with me. Perhaps this was because I was the only White at the table and perhaps because I was female, but these folks sure showed empathy toward me. The young man, by the way, completely backed off and later as we talked and got to know each other a little bit, he told me that he had obviously misjudged me, and just because of the color of my skin.

  84. Megaloptera McWars says:

    Merdad, why are you here?

  85. Purple State says:

I think that’s an interesting concept on its own, winddancer. A case where there is a circle within a circle. Perhaps there is that feeling of empathy that comes from the Golden Rule that is inherent in a lot of people. Perhaps the Golden Rule itself and its invalidity within an individual are underlying principles in those who are considered racist.

  86. ElBruce says:

I follow the footsteps of guys like you…

OK, so Steele intends to commit blatantly illegal acts to further the R’s political agenda. Got it.

    .

    backup Says:

Do progressives and minorities weigh the context when they charge whites or conservatives with racism or bigotry?

Absolutely! However unlike wingnuts, the context we’re considering includes centuries of slavery, murder and oppression. You like to pretend that never happened and that institutional discrimination doesn’t continue to this day.

That’s why your “if a white guy said that” arguments always fail – if a white guy said (whatever) against a backdrop of white guys being enslaved, tortured, murdered, lynched, barely tolerated, and excluded from all of the opportunities that America boasts – then yeah, a white guy could get away with “saying that.” You can’t take it out of context and flip it at the same time. If you’re going to consider the reversal, you have to take the full context (i.e. oru shared history) into account.

    .

    backup Says:

I’ll use the ‘Magic Negro’ example.

Limbaugh got the term from an op-ed in the L.A. Times:

It’s not because of the people saying it, it’s because of how they’re using it. Certain terms require the correct context. The correct context for “magic negro” is in reference to a certain style of story in books or movies (”The Legend of Bagger Vance,” et al). The song that Rush played has nothing of that. It lifts the term out of context. The lyrics are about Al Sharpton and/or Jesse Jackson being jealous of Obama – other than saying the L.A. Times used the term, the song doesn’t use the term in relation to its actual meaning, at all.

It is nothing more than a blatant excuse to say the word “negro” a lot and act like that’s funny. Beavis and Butt-Head meets the KKK on Crossfire.

Here’s a similar hypothetical – the NAACP still has “Colored” in its name. Does that mean that you get to start referring to black people as “the colored?” Or does that term need to remain within the context of that name? If you aren’t certain, try calling some black or brown folks “colored” to their faces and gauge the reaction.

Certain terms are appropriate in one context, and inappropriate in another. This is a simple concept, however bigots are typically incapable of understanding it.

  87. ralph the wonder locust says:

That’s a good story, winddancer. But you should recognize that, in the instance you describe, it sounds like you were the minority.

Purple State makes a good distinction, I think. Part of the insidious nature of racism surfaces with the application of power. Racism in any sense is a mistaken leap of logic — a natural human response to visible differences, but a mistaken one. Yet there is a greater danger when the majority treats a minority with racist intent than when the minority treats the majority.

That’s why black comedians can get away with jokes about race and white ones really can’t. Most people instinctively recoil when the powerful make fun of the powerless, but that is Limbaugh’s entire schtick.

It’s a question of power balance, more than anything else.

Well, yes. I was in the minority at the table. But the majority of the people in the club (and it was a small one) were White. The entire conversations were not with raised voices, so I doubt that any of the surrounding tables heard much, if any, of it.

I like Purple State’s comment, which I believe is very applicable..certainly not just in this story but in the world at large.

I think that’s an interesting concept on its own, winddancer. A case where there is a circle within a circle. Nice.

    And ralph.

cynical misuse of its elements by Limbaugh.

I agree that the repetitive use of the song is probably cynical. and/or exploitation.

The initial point that conservatives or whites don’t have the same latitude to use the term is valid.

I get the idea that there is a different standard. I see that there are valid reasons for the different standard. I still think the idea of the different standard runs counter to the idea of equality and is difficult for many (and me) to embrace.

I have real difficulty with the idea that it’s okay of one group to do or say something that another cannot. Even when I consider the valid circumstance of the minority.

I don’t think Sotomayor’s comment has much bearing on whether she should be confirmed. But, I am affected by the idea that the same sentiment, expressed by a white male, with the same intention, would have much more serious (and unequal) consequences.

I’ve got to go to work, but thanks for the good discussion.

  94. winddancer says:

By the way, I also believe racism is a learned response, not a natural one. I say this based on my own experience living in what was essentially a black ghetto and being accosted by VERY young children and called names like “honky” etc. However, I believe these “learned responses” can be overcome if a person wants to do so. I was raised in a pretty prejudiced family, my mom especially. Her attitudes just never made sense to me, and I rejected them by the time I was probably about 10 years old.

  95. winddancer says:

Backup – you’ve probably left the board now, but I also agree with this statement. “I have real difficulty with the idea that it’s okay of one group to do or say something that another cannot. I think you’re probably right. Kids who have not been taught to hate others based on skin color or some other superficial difference probably will grow accepting others.

When I said it was a natural response, I meant that prejudice comes naturally to animals. When are visual creatures, and we make quick judgments about our surroundings based on a number of factors as a matter of course. We makes snap judgments based on physical appearance all the time. It’s in our nature.

The more highly evolved human will be able to recognize what physical attributes can actually tell you something about someone, and which are useless. That human will also be less prone to stereotyping by appearance and more willing to judge according to action.

    Why did you enter Iraq?

  137. Xisithrus says:

LIMBAUGH: “Banks take the risks in issuing student loans and they are entitled to the profits.” (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Summer/93)

REALITY: Banks take no risks in issuing student loans, which are federally insured.

  138. Megaloptera McWars says:

    where did you served?

Reality serves pete well, but in your case, English hasn’t been so kind.

  139. Xisithrus says:

LIMBAUGH: “The poorest people in America are better off than the mainstream families of Europe.” (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Spring/93)

REALITY: Huh? The average cash income of the poorest 20 percent of Americans is $5,226; the average cash income of four major European nations–Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy–is $19,708.

Somebody has a really bad teacher

  140. pete says:

I’m too old, and far too wise, to participate in the folly of Iraq. Why on Earth would I participate in the subjugation and occupation of a country that did us no harm?

  141. dbadass says:

“where did you served” versus “did you raised a white flag ”

A toss up I suppose for fractured stupidity….

  142. Megaloptera McWars says:

For all you skeptical libs, Merdad is willing to put up his Playstation memory card as proof of military service.

  143. Purple State says:

    Merdad Says:

i see lots of hated comments toward mike steel- is it because he is a fine conservative black man.u guys hate him because he is not gay loving, lord hater….you respond to me coward dbadass

I’ll speak on behalf of myself.

In all honesty, I see tons of potential with Michael Steele. I see someone who can make a difference, and I am willing to give him a chance to build up his party. I think he can quell racist perspectives from both liberals and conservatives, but I feel that he is cornered by stodgy stubbornness of old-style politics. I feel that he needs to connect with the public by shaking hands and meeting people directly, not just leaving the likes of pundits to speak on behalf of the GOP.

He needs to take charge of the party and not just be a figurehead.

  144. kdgamergirl says:

No way Merdad served. He’s got that chickenhawk mentality down cold.

  145. Xisithrus says:

LIMBAUGH: “Now I got something for you that’s true–1972, Tufts University, Boston. This is 24 years ago–or 22 years ago. Three year study of 5000 co-eds, and they used a benchmark of a bra size of 34C. They found that the–now wait. It’s true. The larger the bra-size, the smaller the IQ.” (TV show, 5/13/94)

REALITY: Dr. Burton Hallowell, president of Tufts in the ’60s and ’70s, had “absolutely no recollection” of such a study, according to Tufts’ communications office. “I surely would have remembered that!” he exclaimed. Limbaugh’s staff was unable to produce any such study

    And a really ignorant teacher

  146. Xisithrus says:

hey Xisithrus- you are disgraced to this nation

You dont get to decide that. Nice try.

  147. dbadass says:

hey dbadass- you are a typical fag loving libs

Has has consistently kicked your pretend ass. So what do you suppose that makes you?

  148. dbadass says:

Who has… Damn your stupid seems to be communicable…

  149. Megaloptera McWars says:

    Sigh.

I’m jumping on the “it’s a parody!” train.

  150. Xisithrus says:

LIMBAUGH: “You know the Clintons send Chelsea to the Sidwell Friends private school…. A recent eighth grade class assignment required students to write a paper on ‘Why I Feel Guilty Being White”. ‘… My source for this story is CBS News. I am not making it up.” (Radio show, quoted in the Chicago Sun-Times, 1/16/94.)

REALITY: When Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times called CBS, the network denied running such a story. Ellis Turner, the director of external affairs for Sidwell Friends, told Roeper: “There is no legitimacy to the story that has been circulating…. We’re anxious to let people know that this story is not true.” The essay topic would be particularly difficult for the 28 percent of the school’s student body that is not white.

    A teacher that lies…

  151. wiley says:

When I was in the military, it was understood, and not uncommon for it to be stated that “It is unlawful to obey an unlawful order.” It didn’t translate into less respect for lawful orders and competent leaders, in any way. To contemplate what it would be like to refuse an order, or even to arrest your commanding officer was a serious exercise in taking responsibility for your actual duties, which were not defending a man, but defending the rule of law. Perhaps that isn’t part of the military culture these days.

An unlawful military is nothing to be proud of. It’s no more appealing than a corrupt police department. Why anyone would defend such a thing is beyond me.

    Abuse of power is un-American.

  152. Xisithrus says:

Hey didnt Limbaugh go to Cuba with a bottle of viagra that wasnt his?

  153. Doodlebug Shayne says:

    Merdad Says:

hey kdgamergirl- I served this nation- you perhaps were being in libs camp to how to kiss Fidel’s ass- i served this nation. how about you Lilly coward? did you escape to Canada as bill Clinton did…

    Lying sack of crap. G

  154. Doodlebug Shayne says:

Hey Merdad, WE HATE TORTURERS. Want to meek up with us an we’ll show you what we do to them?

  155. pete says:

I defend my country every day you scabrous boil. I’ve defended it since long before you befouled the universe with your birth. I’ve also had the courage and integrity to condemn that which is indefensible.

A real patriot, with a fully functional human intellect of normal capacity, would understand that from my posts. Alas, stupid trolls can’t figure that out.

  156. dbadass says:

    Merdad:
Tell us all about that service of yours and please feel free to make it up as you go along. I will call bullshit on your lame pretend ass each and everytime you appear just because you blow. It has nothing to do with ideology or anything like that. It is just that you suck and I have no patience for pretenders that suck. So just be aware that I have selected you to be the clown that I will play for my own amusement… Cheers-

  157. dbadass says:

Somebody’s got to be the Archie….

  158. Xisithrus says:

LIMBAUGH: The lead item on a page of “Stupid Quotes” in the May ‘94 Limbaugh Letter–subtitled, “Folks, I don’t make this stuff up”–was a quote attributed to Eleanor Clift on the McLaughlin Group: “Hillary and Bill Clinton cheating on their taxes was a protest against the Reagan era tax breaks for the wealthy…. They knew… the IRS would catch up to them and tack penalties…. If more people had been as far-sighted and altruistic as the Clintons, we could retroactively erase the deficit.” Limbaugh commented, “It’s only May, folks, and we’ve got our Stupid Quote of the year.”

REALITY: Rush Limbaugh, April Fool. The item came from the April Fools Day issue of a right-wing newsletter, Notable Quotables. Each item in the newsletter was dated April 1 and the issue signed off with the words “April Fools.” (The Limbaugh Letter later printed a correction on this and another April Fools quote used as fact.)

    Bwahahahaha. Pinhead.

  159. wiley says:

If you really want to serve your country, try achieving a level of literacy that reflects well on someone who spent 12 years in school. If you did serve, you were a grunt—not because you’re tough and patriotic, but because you got low scores on your ASVABS.

  160. Xisithrus says:

Dont forget to stop by the crack dealer on your way back Mihrdad

  161. pete says:

And, of course, our stupid pet troll is utterly incapable of realizing that the worst crime of the Chimperror is that he turned an entire generation of honorable U.S. Service men and women into war criminals.

Don’t look for the picture of ravening hordes of U.S. soldiers to get any kinder in the near future. The Grandkids of people yet unborn will be paying for Bushco’s follies.

  162. dbadass says:

Easy there Merdad. I have a copyright on those three periods…

  163. Purple State says:

I’m not calling parody on Merdad, nor am I calling Dittohead. I have a feeling it is just someone trying to get his kicks with us.

It’s certainly not our old friend chicken & waffles/obamawipe$/oilforillegals.

  164. wiley says:

I think we may be seeing a lot more Merdads. School is out, isn’t it?

  165. Doodlebug Shayne says:

    Merdad Says:

hey Doodlebug Shayne- you see- libs are exactly what you are. when i talk about my love for usa, my love for god- you insult me. i served this nation much better than all you libs here . how about you Lilly gutless…

STFU you lying TORTURE MONKEY. Only cowards like you excuse torture done in our name. You are in the wrong country. We’re not going to let you do it anymore.

  166. KayInMaine says:

    Merdad Says:

    May 30th, 2009 at 5:54 pm

Did you know that the US Constitution gives Americans a right to denounce the country/government and from what you right wing ninnies have told us over and over, you fight for our right to do this, right?

  167. ElBruce says:

    Merdad Says:

hey ElBruce- what you actually meant about sex education is baby having babes

No, comprehensive sex education and access to contraception prevents unintended pregnancies. So, the opposite of what you said is the facts.

    .

    Merdad Says:

remember if it was up to libs, you would have been aborted …

No. Libs believe it’s the decision of the woman. They don’t try to take that decision out of her hands, like you do.

    .

    Merdad Says:

…lets teach the kids say no sex, and yes to loving flags

    Flaggot.

“Abstinence-only education” is not education, it’s mere indoctrination. And it causes higher rates of teen pregnancy.

    .

    Merdad Says:

    I served this nation-

Listening to Rush is not “serving this nation” no matter how much he tells you otherwise.

  168. kdgamergirl says:

hey kdgamergirl- I served this nation- you perhaps were being in libs camp to how to kiss Fidel’s ass- i served this nation. how about you Lilly coward? did you escape to Canada as bill Clinton did…

Nice try moron but I was 17 years old when I went into the Navy. That was in 2001, Bush’s first year. I’m disabled as a result of my service. You however are too much of a coward to have served.

  169. Hoodathunktick says:

I figured it out. Merdad is Jaja Binks.

  170. EugeneDebs says:

Merdad you are a shithead and an ignorant piece of filth. Just go back to your day job blowing greasy truckers at truckstops for pocketchange keeping your mouth busy so you can do the world a favor and STFU.

  171. Hoodathunktick says:

kdgamergirl thank you for your service. Both in the military and here.

  172. kdgamergirl says:

    my pleasure :)

  173. Hoodathunktick says:

Jaja, evil emperor think toads who spout crap be grease on skids of empire. Smile when you get squished.

  174. Hoodathunktick says:

how can you serve the military and being anti usa?

Actually, most military members and vets have a deeper appreciation of what the US is than the chickenhawks who have never served can understand, Jaja.

  175. johnny dol1ar says:

    183 Purple State

You are correct. Jeffy Bovine (habib, etc.) can’t string two sentences together. That’s why he is always plagiarizing and posting material without credit to the source.

This other troll, DasMerde, is just going through the laundry list of FReeperville, reminding us all how much *sniff, sniff* he loves the flag and baby jeebuz.

I’m suspect he may be Baboon Beck himself.

  176. kdgamergirl says:

how can you serve the military and being anti usa?

Actually, most military members and vets have a deeper appreciation of what the US is than the chickenhawks who have never served can understand, Jaja.

Thank you Hooda, I couldn’t have said it better. My love of this country is not yours to measure Merdad.

  177. Purple State says:

    Merdad Says:

hey ElBruce- you Lilly liver coward. loving USA is not something you learned in main street media.

I would agree with you there. The love for a country should never come through ANY media, though. The love for a country should come from giving yourself to the country–through volunteer work, armed service, communal gatherings for holidays–and a citizen should learn to love one’s country through what they can get back from that dedication to the country.

If the love for a country is obtained through the media, whether it be the left or the right, that’s called propaganda.

  178. dbadass says:

Really Merdad what was your first language? Was it Merdrian?

  179. Hoodathunktick says:

Your are welcome, kdgamergirl. I am also a vet and am sickened by what some parts of the service have displayed.

  180. dbadass says:

hey ElBruce- you Lilly liver coward. loving USA is not something you learned in main street media. loving good old USA is in conservatives blood and Rush teach us how to refresh the stream- do me a favor- don’t look into the mirror from now on. you coward, gutless lib. why don’t you move to El Salvador and Venezuela where they hate USA, and you are permitted by their dictators to burn USA flag….shame on you ElBruce. for supporting libs
    —-
Is this like one of those deals were the teacher writes some shit ass sentences on the board and the students are expected to correct the crap?

  181. dbadass says:

who caused the evil emperor to collapse

I think it was the combined efforts of some droids, A chick with her hair tied up on the sides like cinnamon buns, a conflicted dude named Luke and a hairy mother f ucker…

  182. EugeneDebs says:

    Merdad Shiteforbrains moron

The ONLY service you could possibly do to this country is to go kill yourself. You are too stupid to serve in any other way. Not counting of course you blowing leprous sailors for poecketchange on the docks. Really you are far too stupid to be anything but a sad joke. No matter how much pity you get here it will do nothing to change the sad, friendles, pathetic life you live. The sad pathetic life that is the very fate for anyone as staggeringly stupid as you are.

  183. Hoodathunktick says:

Jaja, you need to get a life. If anyone has a right to comment on the military, it rests with those who have served.

Not those who spew in pidgin.

  184. EugeneDebs says:

Merdad how can you type being so much stupider than your average retarded monkey?

  185. EugeneDebs says:

    Hey Merdad Shiteforbrains

Why dont you aks YOUR trailertrash whore of a mother who your daaddy is. Inbred moron you are I think it likely it was her brother who gave her the shortdog THAT night

  186. KayInMaine says:

Merwad is an example of why Americans despise the right wing of America.

  187. dbadass says:

where did you go to school?

Well that would depend upon which degree we are discussing. Face it f uckface you lose and you will always lose when you try to play against someone above you…

  188. EugeneDebs says:

Merdad, Liberals wont rest until the galactically stupid like you get the help you so obviously need. You are so stupid that a lobotomy would probably increase your IQ

  189. KayInMaine says:

Yes, we know Merwad….burning the flag is bad, getting a blow job is bad….but torturing, raping, & killing innocent people is an American value! Yes, we know this. This is what you ninnies told us for 8 years under George Wingnut Bush.

  190. johnny dol1ar says:

The evil emperor, although no longer in power, is still alive, kicking and launching a preemptive media campaign to excuse his puppets’ war crimes.

I think his code name is “the Dick C” and his pansy goes by “Arbusto”

  191. EugeneDebs says:

Merdad how can YOU stand being an inbred subhuman moron? Just go kill yourself it is the only service someone as stupid as you can ever do for your country. I mean besides blowing leprous dwarfs at the park for nickles

  192. KayInMaine says:

We liberals have no problem with the gays because we’re not like you neocons who hate everyone who isn’t a pasty white christian and a retard like yourself.

  193. dbadass says:

Someone has jacked the poser Merdad. Merdad’s original incarnation lame as it was did have some nominal grasp on the language… I’d say ignore its silly ass but it is too amusing to f uck with….

  194. wiley says:

    Or maybe it’s been drinking.

  195. dbadass says:

Seems Merdad has been outsourced overseas…

  196. EugeneDebs says:

Or maybe he is SO stupid what is left of his brain is just rotting away

  197. KayInMaine says:

We liberals would like for the republicans to keep at it, you know, keep scaring off your 20% of supporters. Eventually, your party will be small enough to drown in a bathtub. We’re looking forward to it!

Sotomayor was right….she’s chosen to remain silent until her nomination hearing while you pasty white boys can’t shut up and are proving each and every day that you are the REAL racists/misogynists/bigots in our nation. See? Latina women do make better decisions than you white boys.

  198. kdgamergirl says:

Jaja, you need to get a life. If anyone has a right to comment on the military, it rests with those who have served.

This bears repeating. One of the great things about this country is that we can speak up when we think something is wrong. That doesn’t make us cowards.

Merdad is just a chickenhawk… sad sad little chickenhawk.

  199. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    Merdad Says:
so, if you kids comes home, and say oh mommy i am a fag, you would hug him, and let him use your bed room.

Absolutely. But my child would not come home and say s/he was a “fag”. That word is reserved for use by you neoCons. My child would come home and say “Hey, I’m gay” and my response would be “Well it’s about time you got comfortable enough with it to tell us. And, BTW, we love you just the same.

  200. Purple State says:

    Merdad Says:

EugeneDebs you are a true idiot. do not insult your fellow mankind…

See, this was what I was talking about with the Golden Rule, and this was what winddancer brought up regarding “Others”. I hope we can all follow that rule here.

You’ve been insulting people just as much, Merdad. You’re going to have to live with the insults if you continue to hurl yours. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

We’re all living in glass houses here; must we throw rocks?

  201. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    Merdad Says:
hey KayInMaine- we believers know that God considers homosexuality as a unforgettable sins

And you know this how? Does he speak to you? Did you read it in the bible? If so, please tell us where you read that in the bible.

Sheesh…poor God, he gets tired of little pissants like you trying to convince people that you know what he thinks and what’s in his heart.

  202. dbadass says:

    Phase one accomplished
The target gets too confused to respond. Still the relentless onslaught continues until their lame ass goes away. It is sort of a shitty job but someone has to do it…

  203. wiley says:

Are we supposed to hate the gay, and hate it so much that we would hate our own children for being gay? How pitiful.

  204. johnny dol1ar says:

  205. oldgranny says:

WAY O/T because of my extremely slow computer speed.

Merdad wanted an example of a poor person who started a business. Well, Merdad, my father DID. He used the well known
principle of using other people’s money.
He started it under a democrat president when the tax rate was 49% for corporations. The minimum wage was somewhere between 1.25 and 1.60. His lowest paid worker earned $16.00 an hour plus profit sharing.
So take some words of advice from my father, “Don’t fly off the handle when your full of baloney.”

  206. dbadass says:

    Merdad:
How does your sky riding imaginary dude feel about femoral sex? I own you lame ass but am willing to trade it for a few magic beans…

  207. Badger says:

    Merdad,

You NEED to Contact Every Republican running for elected office, and Convince them to Agree with all your positions on National TV.

  208. ElBruce says:

    Merdad Says:

why don’t you move to El Salvador and Venezuela where they hate USA, and you are permitted by their dictators to burn USA flag….

Actually, I’m permitted by the First Amendment to burn a flag right here, if I wanted to:

Today, defacing a flag is an act of protected speech under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, as established in Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989), and reaffirmed in U.S. v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990).

After these decisions, several “flag burning” amendments to the Constitution have been proposed. On June 22, 2005, a flag burning amendment was passed by the House with the needed two-thirds majority. On June 27, 2006, the most recent attempt to pass a ban on flag burning was rejected by the Senate in a close vote of 66 in favor, 34 opposed, one vote short of the two-thirds majority needed to send the amendment to be voted on by the states.

That’s the sort of thing that our soldiers actually did fight and die for, in the cases where they were deployed to defend America, as opposed to merely extending American hegemony. You can either have anti-flag burning burning laws, or you can have liberty. But you can’t have both. Given the choice, I’d much rather have our soldiers fight for liberty than for a mere piece of cloth. After all, symbols are worth only what they represent. Thus, making flag burning illegal desecrates the flag.

Also, you’re actually less likely to be able to burn a national flag in a dictatorship.

Also, neither El Salvador or Venezuela are currently dictatorships.

Your wrongness-to-word ratio is really quite impressive, btw.

    .

    Hoodathunktick Says:

If anyone has a right to comment on the military, it rests with those who have served.

I disagree. That’s something wingnuts were saying when they wanted to shut down opposition. The best position, policies, budget and priorities of our military are the concern of every citizen, and an appropriate subject for discussion by anyone. Yes, I realize that chickenhawks are extremely disturbing, but eliminating voices from the conversation isn’t the solution, adding them is. The Left has for far too long fallen for the meme that they’re aren’t tough and patriotic enough to have a compelling voice on military issues. But it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the flag-waving blowhards on the Right are unqualified not by their lack of service but by their lack of humanity.

    .

    Merdad Says:

i must say, i will not rest until every single gay loving libs agrees with me.

That would explain all the crystal meth you’ve obviously been snorting. But, good luck with that.

  209. johnny dol1ar says:

Can we start a prayer chain to pray the gay out of DasMerde so he won’t to hell?

  210. Hoodathunktick says:

  211. wiley says:

Oh. I think Jesus may have said something about shit coming out your mouth.

  212. dbadass says:

  213. kdgamergirl says:

hey KayInMaine- we believers know that God considers homosexuality as a unforgettable sins

you’re also not allowed to eat shellfish or wear two different kinds of cloth. Don’t look at me, the bible said it :(

  214. kdgamergirl says:

I disagree. That’s something wingnuts were saying when they wanted to shut down opposition. But it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the flag-waving blowhards on the Right are unqualified not by their lack of service but by their lack of humanity.

It is absolutely the concern of every citizen. I’m sure Hooda and I would both agree with you on that. It’s just disturbing like you said for these chickenhawks to use their “love” of the military and then denegrate those of us who have served but happen to disagree with some things. I think the point was more that we have an inside view if that explains it.

  215. johnny dol1ar says:

I have to wonder what happened to DasMerde so he believes his homosexual experience was an unforgettable sin.

  216. ElBruce says:

    Merdad Says:

  220. Hoodathunktick says:

ElBruce Says: If anyone has a right to comment on the military, it rests with those who have served.

    I disagree.

Your point is eloquent and has validity but many veterans, poeple with experience in the field, have expressed their feelings on these matters and the vast majority side with humanity.

Most veterans are basic citizens who have volunteered to serve in the belief that America needs to be defended. This is a valid reason. That most come to deny the need for war is also telling.

  221. dbadass says:

    Merdad:
You are making that shit up too as Sarah plain is not a real person….

  222. ElBruce says:

    kdgamergirl Says:

Absolutely. To paraphrase a great woman…

“I would hope that a wise veteran with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a civilian who hasn’t served.”

    ;)

  223. kdgamergirl says:

“I would hope that a wise veteran with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a civilian who hasn’t served.”

    hehe :)

    ===============================================
I do love what you just said. Right out of the Alinsky playbook and Obama’s bible.

Rule 5 : “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

You and your Left friends are good at ridicule. Especially when you have nothing intelligent to say. The problem is, you call Christians immoral after you call them every name in the book. You are so “good” that the devil would love to adopt you in a heartbeat and probably already has.
The real funny thing is”’ Most Blacks don’t support Homosexauality (as evidenced in the California Gay marriage vote)because they are Christians. Hispanics don’t like Blacks (as evidenced in gang warfare everywhere)but they tend to be good Christians and Muslims definately don’t like gays and they hate Christians. Gays don’t like religion because it tends to cramp their style.
But they all team up on White, Christian Americans because they seem to be all opressed. I can’t wait to see what happens when this bubble of “love” bursts.

  236. dbadass says:

    Merdad:

Apparently Merdad thinks it’s a complicated process, with difficult techniques that require patient study. Of course, since his caregiver gives him a gold star if he can tie his shoelaces in the morning, that’s probably true in his case.

Although given your service and what gas costs these days, a flag and a gallon of fuel would probably be an appropriate and valuable grad gift.

had enough and rest of libs read this
So boiling it down a bit. A conservative is one who believes in the ability and the right of the People to rule themselves, to govern themselves, to control themselves. A conservative believes in the strict interpretation of the Constitution, and narrowly defined limits of the the three branches of government, as defined in the document that libs hate. It goes without saying that the judiciary must be held accountable to following the constitution, and only the Constitution in the ruling of cases before it. not the judges make policy as the obama’s nominee suggested. A conservative is a patriot- not like a libs that are coward and sell usa at any price. A conservative believes in freedom of religon, and not freedom from it. what about libs??A conservative knows that the wall of separation between church and state is a fantasy and make by libs to distance people from their creator. And lastly, a conservative will run a campaign with fair play. Not stooping to gather mud on opponents’ personal lives, but hit the line hard on issues, the actions of the opposition, and their consequences. If these actions are repugnant. not what a shameless Micheal Moore dis to a fine man, GW Bush, a true conservative will not blink, but hit them again and again and again.

On Sunday, during a tour of South America, President George Bush will be making a stop in Guatemala. Mayan religious and government officials are planning a purification ceremony once he leaves to cleanse the land of the “evil spirits,” that he may bring with him during his trip.

The Mayan leaders claim that his persecution of illegal aliens is an insult to their people. They also believe that his provoking of wars and inhumane action across the globe proves that evil spirits will follow him wherever he goes.

    Heh heh heh.

    May 30th, 2009 at 8:42 pm

    Hey, mindless conservative,

Tax cuts do indeed provide a small, but measurable, amount of stimulus to the economy. What you Grover Norquist Idiots fail to admit is that other forms of government spending, such as expanding food stamp and unemployment benefits (by extending eligibility, not by adding more people, necessarily), provide even better stimuli to the economy. Yet those are the first things to be complained about by conservatives. Why don’t you greedy a$$holes just admit that you want to keep more of your money, not to spend on things, but to keep for yourself and your heirs. Not that a wannabe-rich-a$$hole like you is ever going to make enough money to have to pay estate taxes (which are taxes on money that was never taxed while it was held during the person’s lifetime, not a tax on their deaths, like Norquist tells you to call it.)

You are ignorant. Whether or not it is willful is difficult to tell right now, but I suspect it is.

    Good luck in night school.

Merdad, not only did you plagiarize straight from moneychimp.com, but you left out some important words.

During recessions, the government will occasionally offer a tax cut as an economic stimulus. In rough terms, a tax cut of one trillion dollars over ten years will “give back” an amount equal to about one percent of consumer spending annually over that period.

This isn’t a MUST here. This is a suggestion. In fact, read the fine print:

(A less rosy way to put it: tax cuts are really a sneaky way to increase consumers’ credit lines. If you spend your tax cut you are in fact spending borrowed money, lent to you by the people who bought the bonds. You’ll pay the lenders back later, with interest, in the form of future taxes.)

You don’t get more money with tax cuts. You get borrowed money that you’ll have to repay somehow. And you also forget how this benefits the corporations and the richer people, as they get to keep more money from taxes.

    Read your resources carefully.

Furthermore, you also burned the flag when you demonstrated your hate for race, sexual orientation, and those who are either non-Christian, agnostic and athiest while shifting your shortcomings on others who so happen to show far more respect for those you personally hate than you can ever achieve therefore you deserve no respect.

And for defending the indefensible criminal act of torture, you have dishonored this nation, its’ people and the veterans of wars past who have undergone torturous acts by their enemies.

The reason for raising taxes is because due to the loss of jobs, business, etc during a recesssion, such as this major one, we lost 30% of tax income. In good times government can reduce [cut tax] tax because people buy more creating more tax revenue.

The tax cut GWB made, 1.3 trillion, just so happens to be almost the exact same amount of deficits created under him.

I was just browsing thru this post and thought I might make a couple of comments. First, I do listen to Rush, Sean, and Glen every so often. They are good for a laugh or two, just don’t take their b.s. to seriously. There was much said on this post about the song, Barack The Magic Negro. If you listen to it, it is a parady on Jackson and Sharpton. That said, as an ex-Rebublican, I have a hard time believing just how much hate, bigotry and stupidity they are showing of late. Steele wants to be like Liddy, God, they really are devoid of role models. Give me the someone like Ike as a role model. Yes, I am an old fart that remembers Ike. Even the great prophet of the conservative right , Reagon, had the sense to accept varying views and form a coalition. The new leaders leaders don’t grasp the concept. Until the idea of tolerance retuns to the party, there is going to be a large journey in the wilderness.

I’m going to help you out, Merdad. #459 was not your words; they were from an article from businesswire.com:

    http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20090526005997&newsLang=en

Please remember to CITE your sources.

Also, please recall that this case (Maloney v. Cuomo) has to do with nunchakus, not guns. This case dealt with a decades-old ban in New York on nunchakus ownership. She had to favor state law in this case.

Please cite your sources, Merdad. Your teachers would have a field day with your blatant rip of other people’s work.

hey Purple State- i learned from Joe Biden during 1988 campaign when he dropped out….

Then I fully expect you to leave this blog. You plagiarized, so you need to drop out.

  401. Purple State says:

I understand if you want to provide facts, but if you don’t cite your sources, your readers will think you’ve pulled them from out of nowhere. If you want respect when making proofs, you do need to cite your sources and give credit to those that have culled the internet for those facts/reports. It helps your argument to say that you’re using an expert’s words or a reporter’s article.

  402. Jane E. Schneider says:

Purple State, the fact that merde expects us to visit Rush Limbaugh’s site in order to find the “facts” just proves that we should all ignore this pathetic troll’s rants. Or just laugh at them.

But thanks for your admirable work refuting its idiocy. Very well done!

Merdad is reading Aljazeera. TP, forward his address to Homeland Security STAT!

  404. Doodlebug Shayne says:

Only white men who are total blind to the inequalities handed to us (by that I mean cancervatives) would call what the judge said racist. Every woman out there should have her hackles raised by these lawmakers who believe there are no biases out there. How will our daughters ever be given a fair chance with these dinosaurs making laws.

  405. Doodlebug Shayne says:

Merdad is a TERRORIST! Send him to Gitmo!

    Merdad Says:
    Comrade Lib’s sleep well

    Another fine report from American left beloved tv Aljazeera reports, you see, the Aljazeera reported that Obama fixed the economy- so it must be true story my fellow beloved comrade;

    US recession ‘could be easing’
Bernanke has said the US recession should end in 2009, “barring crises” [GALLO/GETTY]

Merdad, you’re failing simple English now.

The past tense–”fixed”–indicates that the crisis has been averted. Problem solved! Everyone go home, eat a 20-oz. steak, and go to bed!

But you’re confusing that with the idea that the recession “could be easing”. The sense of probability. The conditional sense. This doesn’t mean that the recession has been “fixed”; it means that the economy is pointing towards being fixed in the future, but that it will still take time, effort, and patience. Even Bernanke has stated that this is a best-case scenario.

You’re getting better with your sources, but you’re not getting better at interpreting what those sources say. D+

In the spirit of Sarah Palin, Steele is palling around with terrorists(as Liddy).

  410. mockingu says:

Liddy is a moron. This is the same guy who a few years ago went off about Bob Greene,a grocer from southern Califronia who refused to take checks unless they were already filled out.He even took calls on the matter.Bob Greene is really comedian Phil Hendrie, who played G’s segment on his own show.It was pretty hilarious. How the hell do people this stupid get airtime?
