George Allen officially launches his ‘industry-backed anti-regulatory group.’

George Allen yells at a McCain Palin rallyEarlier today, former Republican senator George Allen officially launched his latest venture, “an industry-backed anti-regulatory group” called American Energy Freedom Center. In a webcast today, Allen claimed that he wants to “tell people the truthful story about America’s energy potential that has never been told before.” Allen’s new organization is a partner group to the Institute for Energy Research, which is partially funded by Exxon Mobil and run by Robert Bradley Jr., who worked at Enron. In 2003, Bradley wrote the book “Climate Alarmism Reconsidered,” which argued that “that climate alarmism and its corollary, policy activism, are unwarranted and counterproductive” in the face of global climate change.

Exxon and Enron meet George Allen.
That tells me all I want to know.

  4. paleolib says:

Great timing Macaca. After the past eight years I am sure nobody has anything good to say about governmental oversight. Not to mention, everyone certainly believes the oil companies have our best interest at heart.

    – - I’ve seen Al Gore, I’ve voted for Al Gore, and believe me Sen. Allen, you’re no Al Gore.

    The Macaca Foundation ?

  7. DNFP says:

We need all elected officials to sign non-compete clauses with a min 5 year window to keep them from personally benefiting from the tenure at the taxpayer/voter’s expense after they’ve been kicked to the curb.

The jump into the lobbying arena and using connections on Capital Hill is an egregious slap in the face to free market principals, and therefore, the United States as a whole.

    In short, I call BULLSHIT.

  8. ElBruce says:

An “an industry-backed anti-regulatory group?” We already had one of those. It was called the Bush Administration.

  9. shoeless says:

I think it’s time to regulate these ‘industry-backed anti-regulatory groups’.

  10. raynman says:

Fortunately, I’m sure that the mainstream media will immediately comment on the ties that this organization has with the energy industry, and how Mr. Allen regularly sucked at the teat of big energy while he was an elected official…

but I’m not holding my breath

  11. Cats r Flyfishn says:

American Energy Freedom… more from bizarro world.

Anyone in their right mind would not want to continue dependence on non-renewable energy sources which will only become more costly as the resource is depleted.

    Yeah……..It’s called “The Republican Party”……

  13. pastcaring says:

I would never listen to a man who perpetually looks as if he has a booger hanging from his nostrils and dried bits of food at the corners of his mouth…Allen proves that once a racist moron always a racist moron…

And lets not forget nationalizing health care. That should make all of you happy.

That’s about the only thing you’ve been right about…Please, do not reply…this does not mean I want to talk to you…

God! George Macaca Allen and Ricky Man on Dog Santorum on the same page. What in the world is happening? I thought this form of demon had been put to sleep forever. All the troglodytes are coming out to try to get their kickbacks from all the corporations they greased while in the Bush Crime Family.

    Proud Says:

Proud you freaking moron if the philosophy of the wingnuts had not failed and if you had not signed out health insurance over to the HMOs (speaking of a beauracy between you and your doctor), if Raygunomics had not allowed the theives to rob Wall Street, none of the nationalization (which started before Obama was elected with TARP) would be necessary. Now go read a book and try to do without the blowhards on FAUX and Rush for a week.

  21. MCMetal says:

    Proud Says:
    ——————————————————————————–

he can then nationalize the energy industry.

    June 2nd, 2009 at 4:50 pm

And that would be “bad” because it’s wrong for the oil companies to cease making record-setting profits , drilling on US soil ?

  22. spencers mom says:

The only thing today’s GNOP is in favor of regulating is the freedom of US citizens to vote.

What’s so amazing is that these idiots keep finding groups willing to fund them on their next venture.

  34. kdgamergirl says:

See I’d still rather reply to Proud than Merdad. Granted I don’t agree with him but he at least makes coherent statements and replies in a coherent manner. Please ignore Merdad when he gets to this thread. Ignoring is actually quite funny :)

He is a republican. He has his own interests in mind, not yours. not anyone elses.

  44. Mr. Evil says:

Why don’t we just deregulate everything? Why is it only big business that gets a free pass?

Speed limits impede our progress from point A to point B. Get rid of them! How about marijuana? Deregulate now! Why make doctors pay malpractice insurance? Well, that’s an easy one. The insurance companies have a gold mine with doctors. Why don’t our wonderful politicians make it so doctors still have to pay for malpractice insurance but, the insurance companies never have to pay any out becuase why not deregulate malpractice? Lets deregulate schools. Everyone passes!

Why don’t we just save a step and print up a few extra billion dollars and give it to the corporations and super-rich. We’ve never really had a problem doing this before. Aren’t these people entitled to be filthy rich. Maybe this time they’ll choke on all the extra money they so desperately need to survive. It’s the only reason they live.

  49. MapleStreet says:

For that matter, just look at the good-ole American sites that got CERCLA (superfund) started.

Can you say Love Canal ?

  50. Hoodathunktick says:

Allen and company figure it is only rape if the victim complains.

What they don’t know is that once the Earth gets to the point of complaining saying I’m sorry just ain’t gonna cut it. And there isn’t a bank account big enough to buy the Earth off.

  51. hanshiro the antlion says:

I would never support an industry that would have George Allen as a spokesman…

Felix wants to punish the little people who had the temerity to find him a disgrace and an embarrassment.

  52. hanshiro the antlion says:

    56. Merdad Says: Ok- I am back

Ohhh, I’m just in time, you chicken-hearted little sh¡t…

  53. ElBruce says:

    Macaca!

    .

    Proud Says:

Only solution is for Obama to continue the master plan of nationalizing every industry.

Then that was an awful neat trick of him getting Dubya to completely trash the economy by last September. How’d he do that? You know, I think you wingnuts give Obama way more credit then we do.

    .

    kasinca Says:

God! George Macaca Allen and Ricky Man on Dog Santorum on the same page. What in the world is happening? I thought this form of demon had been put to sleep forever.

They’re like zombies. Every time we beat them at the ballot box, either corporate-funded advocacy groups or the FAUX News pundit circuit zap them back to life.

  54. hanshiro the antlion says:

    Allen’s sister’s memoir

In 2000, Allen’s younger sister Jennifer Allen Richard wrote in her memoir Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach’s Daughter (Random House Publishing, 2000) that Allen attacked his younger siblings during his childhood. The memoir claims that Allen held her by her feet over Niagara Falls, struck her boyfriend in the head with a pool cue, threw his brother Bruce through a glass sliding door, tackled his brother Gregory, breaking his collarbone, and dragged Jennifer upstairs by her hair. In the book, she wrote, “George hoped someday to become a dentist…George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession – getting paid to make people suffer.”

Though Richard backpedaled on a couple of these charges, presumably to take pressure off of Allen’s aspirations, the overall pugnaciousness of Felix is a well known trait.

He’s unhinged, unscrupulous and greedy; a perfect fit for an oil company spokesman.

  55. kdgamergirl says:

Just flag and move on. It’s one point if a troll addresses the topic; it’s borderline if they address any topic. But when they’re just pounding their head on the keyboard, there’s no reason whatsoever to respond at all. Just flag and move on.

Agreed and I think we’re doing a great job. Looks like he had to change his moniker to get attention since we started ignoring him :)

  60. Xisithrus says:

Ya know, Proud, I am not so sure nationalization is the correct term seeing as wall street and the FIRE sector pretty much own the government thru lobbying and campaign donations….

  61. Wayne Ant Schneider says:

Let’s make sure we track every penny this group gives to candidates for federal office. In fact, groups like this are precisely the reason we should ban corporations from giving donations to political candidates. Candidates for Representative or Senator should only be allowed to accept campaign contributions from individuals in their own districts or states, respectively.

  62. SKdeAnt says:

I am trying to figure out why TP can’t block any potential user with “sesli” in their name…

  63. lvdragonlady says:

George your audience will be the same 19% that believed Bush did a good job but the rest of us will be able to see through your lies.

  64. cdwriteme says:

Maybe someone can start at least a petition to Exxon for giving this racist a good position. Something.

  65. Fontsdeleon says:

You mean there’s still some regulations left to deregulate? Exxon and the rest just don’t want to spend the money to fix anything so it doesn’t pollute. That’s what this is all about. And our publicly-elected officials, filled with honor and dignity and loads of personal-integrity help them along.

  66. doktorgizemli says:

Hey Kevin. I just saw the YouTube video about web 3.0 and I have had this idea about our future economy.
It’s a bit in tune with the Zeitgeist film. See, if all of our knowledge was shared, we couldn’t make money of it. Siki?
    porno
    Porno izle
    sex videolar?
I’m a musician and I kinda have the feeling that in the future people will pay for live performances, because we have computer software that is very close to sounding like a musical instrument, with a modelled human touch. So, if a person that has never played the guitar, can click a button and sound like Jimi Hendrix, than what is the coolness about all this digital music really? Infact, I think that the more advanced this gets, the less interesting it becomes. We are still in awe over a youngster that can make the violin cry and we will definately be in even more awe when a person can actually do with their fingers that what we can do in an iPhone application.
