Inhofe Rips Obama As ‘Un-American,’ Suggests He’s On The Side Of Terrorists

inhofeReacting to President Obama’s outreach to the Muslim world yesterday, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) decried the president’s speech as “un-American” and even suggested Obama might be on the side of terrorists:

Sen. Jim Inhofe said today that President Barack Obama’s speech in Cairo was “un-American” because he referred to the war in Iraq as “a war of choice” and didn’t criticize Iran for developing a nuclear program.

Inhofe, R-Tulsa, also criticized the president for suggesting that torture was conducted at the military prison in Guantanamo, saying, “There has never been a documented case of torture at Guantanamo.”

“I just don’t know whose side he’s on,” Inhofe said of the president.

Unsurprisingly, actual Iraqis and Iranians — a couple of the key audiences for Obama’s speech — viewed it far more favorably than Inhofe. Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the speech reflected greater understanding of Mideast culture and “reduces the chance of growth of extremist ideas that are trying to tarnish the image of Islam in the world.” “Obama’s speech was extraordinary. I loved it,” said 24-year old Iranian Morteza Sinaie. “I wish every Iranian would hear it. I think it would dramatically change their opinion about Obama and the United Sates.”

Reporting from Iraq, NPR correspondent JJ Sutherland noted one family said they wished Obama’s words “to be real. We wish what he’s saying to be real.” Reporting from Iran, Christian Science Monitor’s Scott Peterson wrote, “Mr. Obama’s pledge that America was ‘ready to move forward’ with ‘courage, rectitude, and resolve’ will be welcome in Tehran.”

One of the important goals of Obama’s speech was to stop creating an “us versus them” mentality with the Muslim world, the very approach that Inhofe is still espousing. In his speech, Obama tried to end language that suggests the Muslim world and the U.S. are on competing sides:

I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles — principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

The Wall Street Journal reports, “Muslims in the Middle East and beyond praised U.S. President Barack Obama for the tone of his speech Thursday.” Al-Jazeera, the Arab world’s leading satellite channel, celebrated the speech as “an attempt at forging a new relationship between Washington and the Muslim world.” If the Muslim world is on America’s side, whose side is Inhofe on?

Update The Financial Times reports, “Even Saudi Islamists expressed their satisfaction after Mr Obama spoke on Thursday. ‘It is a beautiful speech in general,’ said Mohsen al-Awaji, an activist. ‘He talked about peace in Islam and we are saying yes, Islam is a religion of peace towards those who are peaceful with us but a religion of war for those who are fighting us.’”
Update More Iraqi reaction. The Washington Post reports, "[F]or many Muslims, Obama's nearly hour-long address at Cairo University was a much-welcomed clearing of the air."

Little Jimmy has been taking debate lessons from Bimbo Bachmann. What a total imbecile. I sure hope the folks in Oklahoma wake up and retire this idiot the next time he’s up for re-election.

  2. Dirty Hippie says:

Does this stuff play well at home in Oklahoma? Inhofe is one of the dumbest shits in Congress.

  3. konchster says:

Inhofe is a buffoon he needs pointy shoes and dress in motley to be taken seriously

  4. Chickenbone Bill says:

What a jackass! From his photo,he looks like he needs to get his blood pressure checked! All that religion and negativity to everything not Bush, probably keeps it up around 240/150

  5. Marie says:

The unreasonable hatred for Obama by some of our right wing politicians is unacceptable. I think of the outrage expressed by them when anyone dared breathe a word of criticism for George Bush and compare that to the impunity with which they disrespect the current president, who is mightily attempting to put America back on the right track.

  6. MapleStreet says:

“There has never been a documented case of torture at Guantanamo.”

Yet another reason that we must investigate the probably war crimes at Gitmo.

Until then, you know it happened, I know it happened, but as it hasn’t been documented, we get get away with dumb statements like this.

  7. ElBruce says:

Wow, I thought they’d given up that crap after Obama won the election. Trying to argue that the POTUS is on the side of America’s enemies is… nonsensical.

And all this “he didn’t say that word” and “he didn’t talk about this” criticism is ridiculous. He’d have to talk for 36 hours straight to please every avenue of attack you could come up with.

  8. RUCeriousMaggot! says:

So it’s OK with Imhotep that the Muslim world hates the US?
Yeah, well what should we expect from a Publican exemplifiying the reichwing.

  9. MapleStreet says:

Can I take it that the total number of Americans (according to Inhofe) are only those who have passed his purity test ?

Perhaps a dozen or so ?

  10. hellinabucket says:

“There has never been a documented case of torture at Guantanamo.”

Sen., is that before or after the destruction of all those video tapes?

Inhofe, R-Tulsa, also criticized the president for suggesting that torture was conducted at the military prison in Guantanamo, saying, “There has never been a documented case of torture at Guantanamo.”

Yeah, they did a great job of destroying all that evidence.
    Crucking Fiminals.

  12. misscoleopteramolly says:

I think Inhofe’s idea of being “American” is to torture, threaten to bomb anybody we don’t like, insist that we DO in fact run the whole d*mn world, consider anybody who isn’t American as unimportant (particularly if they’re scary brown people), regard all the world’s oil as ours, and consider concepts like diplomacy and cooperation as solely for un-American wusses.

That’s not my idea of being “American”. Fortunately, it’s not President Obama’s idea, either.

  13. hellinabucket says:

The Iraq war was a war of choice. A bad choice at that.

  14. ranus69 says:

Obama is doing exactly what Bush failed to do that is bring diplomacy to the region and for the US.

    Inhofe another Christian Fundamentalist Terrorist.

Seriously, we laugh about the ridiculous stuff coming out of these people’s mouth, but there are lots of idiots out there (like our resident trolls) who eat this stuff up like cotton candy. We need to call them on every irresponsible comment, every lie, and every bit of hate and bigotry they spew.

    ____________________________________________________________

Because he doesn’t consider waterboarding to be torture, unless we’re talking about Japanese, North Korean, or North Vietnamese doing it to us. He considers anything we do at Guantanamo to be “not torture”, but anything done to us he considers “torture”.

Once again the Reich Wing American Taliban rears it`s ugly head and Imhofe calls our president UN-American………What the Shrubs Admin. did in 8 years to destroy our country`s reputation Obama is restoring it in months, that`s what has the Reich up in arms about. In the meantime Obama has his hands full back here and has accomplished more in less than 6 months for this country than the Shrub did in 8 years of destruction. The Party of Nope will keep urging Former Sen. Coleman to keep up his appeal for the sake of the PARTY because they don`t care about the country and it`s downward spiral.

  21. Zimzone says:

    ‘Peace Be Upon You’

An inbred jackoff like Inhofe can’t begin to grasp the power of that statement.

President Obama stated it in Arabic, (I believe…Toasterhead?), and he had the entire audience’s respect immediately.

Bush would have stated, (in english), ‘Fighting Terrorists is hard work’.

What a difference an election makes!

President Obama just made, perhaps, one of the greatest speeches in history. He spoke truth, equality and justice while reviling religious extremism, regardless of creed.

Nostradamus spoke of ‘the golden one’ bringing our Planet 500 years of peace. Think about that.

  24. Xisithrus says:

Isnt Inhofe paying attention? Dick Cheney said there were no ties between 911 and Iraq which means Iraq was a war of choice. So why is Inhofe, by way of his logic, calling Dick un-American?

  25. spencers mom says:

If President Obama is on the side of the terrorists, and the majority of Americans voted for Obama, does that mean that the majority of Americans side with terrorists? Or did Inhofe miss the class on the transitive property?

  28. kasinca says:

When the rethuglicans said you are with us or you are against us, they meant it. They expect everyone to defend their war of choice and them against the crimes they have committed. Inhofe is one of the dumbest sobs on earth, much less the Senate.

  29. ranus69 says:

Clearly the GOP and the conservatives are the terrorist and enemy combatant here in the US along with Daniel James Murray, I assume it will be unsafe to put Daniel James Murray in a U.S. prison when they catch him?

  31. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

“SAVE AMERICA FROM THE TRAITOROUS GOP TERRORISTS.

    KILL THE GOP.”

DNFP, you admonished me on the ThinkFast thread for comparing Daniel James Murray to our perrenial trolls, stating the seriousness of the matter. Your last few posts calling for the murder of memebers of the GOP could be construed as on a par with Murrays actions. So far he has done nothing but state the intention of causing President Obama’s death. Not to belittle his threat, it truly sounds serious and I am confident that he will be tracked down before the President’s return to the US but so far his only weapon has been his words. You are doing the same thing, don’t you see? My anger at the current make-up of the Republican Party, their hypocracy, crimes, obfuscation and inciting of anger towards our President is obvious through my posts here, but calling for the blanket murdering of all GOPers is not constructive. Unless your goal is a visit from the Secret Service of course, in which case carry on with the death threats. Stooping to their level belittles your message.

  32. winddancer says:

DNFP: IF YOU CAN’T SUPPORT THE STANDING POTUS, YOU’RE A G*DDAMN TRAITOR, AND INCITING OTHERS TO VIOLENCE IS A CRIMINAL ACT.

KILL THE UN-AMERICAN GOP BEFORE THEY KILL YOU.

The first sentence is inappropriate, since few of us supported Bush for his 8 years in office. Being in opposition is not the same as being a traitor. Inhofe carries his opposition to extreme, no doubt about it and he angers me no end. But your second sentence: “Inciting others to violence is a criminal act” IS an accurate statement, so I would suggest you not end your comment with “KILL THE UN-AMERICAN GOP BEFORE THEY KILL YOU.” Frankly, you put yourself at risk as well as make TP a target of the far-right with accusations of being a “far-left hate and smear site, as O’Reilly so frequently does.

  33. galmud says:

    From article linked

Rep. Mary Fallin, R-Oklahoma City, said Obama “needs to take a stronger stance against regimes which threaten international peace, sponsor terrorism, brutalize their own citizens and threaten the existence of other nations with the pursuit of weapons of mass destruction.”

She of course means Iran. But change “brutalize their own citizens” with “brutalize a people denied of citizenship and basic human rights” and that regime sounds a lot like Israel

The Bush Administration’s own top official — Judge Susan Crawford, the convening authority at Guantanamo and perhaps the only person on the planet with actual ruling authority to declare whether or not torture has been committed in any particular case at Guantanamo – dismissed the case of Mohammed al-Qahtani specifically because he had been tortured, she said.

Judge Crawford spoke to Bob Woodward about that in this article:

“We tortured [Mohammed al-]Qahtani,” said Susan J. Crawford, in her first interview since being named convening authority of military commissions by Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates in February 2007. “His treatment met the legal definition of torture. And that’s why I did not refer the case” for prosecution.

Ranus69, hello fellow New Yorker–why are we still stuck with Chuck Schumer? He’s such a waste as a Senator!

  88. LeeHope says:

Inhofe is really not the most brilliant bulb on the tree! Gee, what will he say when peace comes to the Middle East, Israeli and Palestinian are living side by side within peaceful borders, each their own sovereign state, Muslim, Jewish and Christian have moved away from the vicious stereotypes of one another, and respect each other? He’ll probably say it doesn’t exist and wave a white paper, supposedly a list of ’scientists” he never shows, that can confirm it!!!

I guess Oklahoma is our very own Afghanistan. Extremism is the enemy of humanity, and we have it in spades here in America, especially in the center of the country.

  90. Teowens says:

Sen. Jim Inhofe said today that President Barack Obama’s speech in Cairo was “un-American” because he referred to the war in Iraq as “a war of choice” and didn’t criticize Iran for developing a nuclear program.

So basically he’s mad b/c president Obama simply told the truth. Didn’t Dick Cheney say the other day that there was NO CONNECTION between Sadam Hussein and 9/11? Or Iraq and 9/11? His daughter even had the audacity to suggest the whole thing was a liberal smear yesterday. I guess they think people are stupid.

The demographics are rapidly changing and we aren’t buying into your fearmongering and scare tactics any longer. The republicans are so nervous, their presidential candidates have already started campaigning for the 2012 election. When in history has this ever happened. NEVER!! Almost all liberal leaders, whether elected officials, union leaders, civil rights gurus, professional feminist, some political columnist or college professors etc., are in this category. The Dupes are a little different. They have a child’s political philosophy. They are the true believers, who believe in the face of all evidence to the contrary, that liberalism improves peoples lives. They can be divided into two sub-categories, the Ignorant and the Whackos (radicals). Not many Power Seekers on this thread.

The problem most people have in addressing liberalism is that they keep thinking of it as being about politics. It really isn’t. Liberalism is like a religion. It is “faith based” with the religion being idealistic utopia. The idea that it’s possible to have a world without war, crime, poverty, and injustice is the vision. The ideas of a brotherhood of man, heaven on earth, and human perfection are too beautiful to perish as ideas, even if they’re too utopian to succeed in reality.”

Our Nation has gone through many horrors during the past 8 years and to villify anyone who is trying to ameliorate this condition seems to me to be scraping the bottom of the muck barrel they live in. If they are Christians, let them follow the words of the Christ they claim instead of the words of the failed GOP.

My first vote for a US President was for Harry Truman. I have since seen too much destruction and greed in our political structure. I have feared that the American Dream of fairness and equality would be destroyed by this. I now have hope that the American citizens will recognize that “capitalism” is a monetary/financial structure term and NOT a synonym for Democracy. I have hope that “lassez faire” will be recognized as a dreadful, near criminal distortion of capitalism and that the “corporatism” which has evolved from that will be recognized for what it is.. Fascism.

We DO have an objective truth. Our objective IS “Truth.” No subterfuge, no duplicity. Yes, we do miss a lot of times, but generally our votes are meant to further the ideals of the “US Constitution” and the “Declaration of Independence”. We do not substute the word “license” for Freedom and we do not substute the word “Capitalism” for Democracy. Believe it or not, we do know who Adam Smith REALLY was and what he REALLY said. Yes, we are idealists. Without ideals (goals) we will never accomplish a truly free Nation

  145. Bill the Lawyer says:

Unfortunately, contrition is not viewed as favorably in most Islamic cultures as it is in the west. Instead, it is often viewed as weakness, or as an opportunity to score an advantage. No matter how many opinions you might cherry pick from favorably disposed individuals in Iran and Iraq, the fact remains that the majority of the Muslim street (who believe in American-Jewish cabals, etc.) is laughing at the United States on account of this speech. Inhofe is completely right.

  146. Bill the Lawyer says:

Have we forgotten the feverish celebrations in Ramallah and Tehran when the twin towers fell? That was 9/11/01 when the Muslim world had only mostly known an America under the Clinton administration, and had never been subjected to any invasion from the US.

What did the alien in Independence Day say to Bill Pullman character, the President, when he asked him what they wanted? He said “DIE!!!!” That’s what we face. Ahmedinijad is right. The Muslim world hates us, purely and simply.

  147. Bill the Lawyer says:

People forget that on 9/11 there was more than just an attack from some extremists terrorists, there was jubilation across the Middle East. It was a cause of celebration that the benign power that was the United States was made low in their eyes, and these are they people Obama seeks now to appease.

  148. lovelyld2003 says:

  150. sholders says:

Instead of demonstrating your superior intelligence by name calling, why don’t you tell us what was pro-American about the Anoited One’s speech. After all, he is President of the U.S. right? Doesn’t that mean that he would stand up for the U.S. once in a while? The focus of almost every “brilliant” speech is how America is wrong and anyone who doesn’t like us is alright, willingly ignoring the times American has helped Moslem nations.

Obama’s platitudes to the Moslem world won’t change anything, Moslem’s have made it abundantly clear that they will HATE us until we openly turn against Israel (and that day seems to be approaching fast). Israel has never harmed this nation, but I do remember two planes flown by Moslem’s crashing into the World Trade Towers.

In Genesis, God makes a pact with Israel that he will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel. Even liberals who hate this country can’t deny that the past 60 years in the U.S. have been blessed. I hope Obama is actually telling the truth when he says that our bond with Israel is unbreakable.

  151. Bill the Lawyer says:

I remember well that, on 9/12/01, there was jubilation across the Muslim world. Candy was distributed to ecstatic, hopping crowds on the streets of Ramallah. Goat meat was roasted and shared among strangers in Ashkelon. Guns were fired into the air amid cries of Allahu Ackbar in Gaza. And these are the people to whom Obama is apologizing?

  152. Marshall Levi says:

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

I can’t say I have enjoyed reading any of it! I don’t really see how all this name-calling can bring ANY good to ANYthing. If you want to make a point, make it with respect and dignity like our great President does. Don’t stoop to the levels of Inhofe and other GOP supporters! It really does just give them more fodder for their one-sided “Talk” and “News” programs. You don’t change someone’s mind by calling them a moron. And if their mind won’t be changed, don’t turn off another that might be changed by sounding extreme and just as stubborn. I don’t think at this point I will leave any of my own opinions other than I do agree Inhofe has just shot himself in the foot and Obama will be the best president we have had in ages (maybe ever, we’ll have to see) and I’ll hope that the next time I join a thread, the comments will be more reasonable so I can actually have an educational and inpiring chat.

  163. myownviews says:

While I am a conservative, I do not agree with Inhofe’s comment eluding to the President siding with the terrorists but I do have a problem with Obama apologizing for all that Americans have done. We have come to the rescue of so many (a thankless job no less) that many other countries have declined to do. I do think that Obama is making us look weak to other countries and do agree with the few others on here that the Muslim extremists are laughing at us right now because they are seeing us crumble for the first time…we are probably more divided now than we ever were. While I would like to see a positive relationship with Muslim countries, I don’t think the way that Obama is doing it is the most effective because again, it makes us look week. Why not appeal to them without apologizing? I have yet to hear an apology from the terrorists of 9/11 and we will never will? I would love to hear one for the massive losses of loved ones here.

For those that are so negative of the GOP, we need two parties in this country to check on the powers of the President. Otherwise, we are creating a government with no opinions…a single party state….NOT the way to go. We made George Bush accountable for what he has done…why can’t we do the same with Obama because the man is not perfect.

I have a better plan. Appeal to the conciences of the STAGGERINGLY STUPID like YOU to have vascectomies and NOT pollute our gene pool with your monumental ignorance. In ONE generation no more RepubliSCUM. The only problem with that plan is that morons like you dont HAVE conciences.

  168. wavemon says:

That’s the main problem with the Lib’s, you talk about onesided Talk and News shows, well at last count the media bias was most definitely in the Dem’s corner, that’s part of the reason he won the election, as I said before, the people of the world need to be reminded of all the great accomplishments that our great country has given to the world, through blood, sweat, and tears, we don’t need our President alway’s telling the world how we have been so mean and that we have made mistakes in the last few years, he needs to make everyone remember who contributes the most to the world when the going gets tuff…..The good old USA….Thats right Lib’s not the Muslims or the pinheads from Spain….but the USA….

Ranus69, hello fellow New Yorker–why are we still stuck with Chuck Schumer? He’s such a waste as a Senator!
    ==========
Jane, I often wonder why we were still stuck with Schumer? I think he still appeals to the older constituents perhaps? When I called his office today, I spoke with his assistant named Greg and gave him an ear full and my main question to him was why aren’t the Democrats more vocally opposed to GOP attacks? Again, I doubt that I will get an answer but I think it’s time for some new younger people to rise like Senator Gillibrand. I miss Hillary though.

A reasonable post. Yes we have done much good. No question and we HAVE done bad things. Like overthrowing the first Democracy in Iran and installing the brutal dictator Shah Pahlavi. The fact we have done good things doesnt make us exempt from criticism for doing BAD things. It doesnt give us a free pass from responsibility FOR doing bad things and they NEED to be addressed. Decent people even when they are very good people appologize and make efforts not to repeat the BAD things they inevitably do. Dont blur the distinction between who we are and what we sometimes do. Countries like people are not one thing. We do good we do bad. WE need to continue to do the good things and stop doing the bad things and make amends for them THAT is what a good people do THAT is how a good people act. Let me go again to St Thomas Aquinas

Three conditions are necessary for Penance: contrition, which is sorrow for sin, together with a purpose of amendment; confession of sins without any omission; and satisfaction by means of good works.

    Where’s the Birth Certificate?

Your “Savior” is not only unfit to lead this country, HE IS NOT CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE. ‘Only the release of his long-form birth certificate showing the hospital of his birth, attending physician and other details can conclusively meet that test. Obama’s presidential campaign released to select news organizations only what is known as a “certification of live birth,” a document obtainable in Hawaii in 1961 by Americans actually born outside the country.’ IF THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE, WHY IS YOUR “SAVIOR” REFUSING TO PROVIDE THAT DOCUMENT?

  186. The Moderate Squad says:

This is the same developmentally disabled senator (<-lower case, in his case) who once called scientific data supporting the existence of climate change “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated.” And yet somehow being honest about a really great hoax, the Iraq war, makes Obama “un-American.”

Unfortunately modern liberals have lost independence, respect for other people’s beliefs, and a basis in logic and reason, and now are no better…

Those are pretty much the definition of liberalism today. You’re doing that posting from backwards-world thing again, aren’t you?

We are however quite impressed with your exercise-ball-sized testicles though, lecturing us on respect for other people’s beliefs of all things.

    .

    nofreelunch Says:

Liberals feel there is no objective truth, just different opinions, and they are all morally equivalent.

Hey, quit telling me what I think.

Besides, we’re not the ones who constantly make public statements that are contrary to known fact, and think we can get away with it by preceding the B.S. with “I believe.” Faith-based economics. Faith-based foreign policy. Faith-based history. Faith-based military strategy. Faith-based financial regulation. Faith-based environmental policy. Faith-based educational policy. That wasn’t us. We aren’t the ones who are at war with reality, facts and the truth.

    .

    Bill the Lawyer Says:

And these are the people to whom Obama is apologizing?

No, they’re not, as he didn’t apologize to anyone. Who told you that he did? That person lied to you, to get your political support. Doesn’t that make you angry, being used like that?

    .

    Marshall Levi Says:

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom…”

I was about to agree, but – wait, freedom? Money isn’t liberty. Are you sure you quoted that right? If so, it’s just plain crazy. That’s like saying you can’t tax the middle class into the right to bear arms.

I’m looking forward to it, in fact. As long as we can still recognize the stain that is the GOP, we won’t stop stomping.

    .

    Marshall Levi Says:

    Where’s the Birth Certificate?

HA HA HAAAA!!! I thought you guys gave up on that after the thorough documentary evidence and firsthand testimony, the release of the state copy, the testimony by the Hawaii Secretary of State, the time factcheck.org examined the original, and everything else!

Admit it, you’re just trying to get your own hands on the original so you can rip it up. We know better.

  195. wavemon says:

Wet your damn bed…pig? These are the people that voted for Obama, you can’t have a differant opinion, they hate the truth, has the public seen the birth certifcate? Why not? Very simple thing to make public. As far as the stain that’s the GOP, that’s the stain from wiping up on a majority of the Presidential elections for the last 60 years, can you all add, or by all the namecalling, are you old enough?? Like I said before…01/20/2012..the day the GOP IS BACK IN POWER.

    NOT SO:
Twenty percent of Israeli citizens are Arabs. Every Palestinian who has not raised arms against Israel is entitled to become an Israeli citizen. In 1948, when Israel became a nation, its leaders pleaded with the Palestinians to remain and forge a country together. Most Palestinians left with the expectation of their brethren finishing what Hitler had started. They lost. Incidentally, Jews in Muslim countries are treated worse than Muslims in Israel.

Most school children are liberal in their views when they are growing up. Then many of us get a job in the real world and find out what we thought we knew wasn’t so. We found out that in America any individual, regardless of creed or color, had the opportunity to achieve their dream if they were willing to work hard and persevere. We found out that Govt. is usally the problem rather than the solution. We learned that unless we took risk, there was little reward. We learned that if we failed, learn from it and keep trying until you succeed. We have lived life as it is, not as we would like it to be, and now we are conservatives.

Just dumping our disabled/elderly/unemployed in an alley sure worked well for the average lifespans of the romans. Maybe if you read that old book of fairy tales you shove in our faces from the right all the time, you would learn something about how to treat your fellow person regardless of their disposition.

Don’t get me wrong, but what am I missing? Cheney/Bush came into office with a balanced budget, a surplus, a military in good standing and no major military commitments. Just look at the problems the Obama Administration has to deal with. A finical melt down, two unresolved wars, a depleted military and a government that was dysfunctional.
I will repeat a question of Reagans, “Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago? Think for a minute; who was in the Whitehouse, who controlled the congress, are you serious.
Reaganomics was a sham; we are seeing the final results.
Bush/Cheney had guts behind a desk, but neither would put their buts on the line when it counted.
From my perspective their behavior is treasonous and they need to be investigated! The Republican Party has forgotten what a democracy is; representative government!

The Bay of Pigs was not originally John F. Kennedy’s idea. As the communist nature of Fidel Castro’s regime became apparent, the urge to topple his government grew. Dwight D. Eisenhower’s administration planned the invasion, which would be handled by the CIA. By the time of Kennedy’s inauguration, the order to invade was the only remaining piece of the plan to put into place.

All Kennedy did was sign off on it. It was an Eisenhower operation all the way MORON. I do like the juxtaposition of your stupidity with your condescension. Telling ME to read a book because YOU dont know what you are talking about.

THAT is sure to sell. Yeah keep telling yourself that the reason you morons LOST the last two elections is you werent conservative ENOUGH. I am anxious to see the GOP go the way of the Whig party

What is that I smell? I smell the BACKPEDDLING of someone PROVEN WRONG. I didnt say Kennedy didnt approve the mission but you said lefties CREATED it and that is flat out WRONG. When I told you it was an Eisenhower plan you told me Eisenhower had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, then condescendingly, ironic considering you were flat out wrong, to read a book. Look this is simple you were WRONG. Face it and move on

  229. worldwatcher2 says:

Inhofe is one of those GOP representatives that claims to know what they are doing. But look at his comments, analise his comments and himself, your result will be “a GOP mess responsible for the wars, battered image and economic predicament our nation finds itself in today.” His inability to absord and analize Obama’s speech the way it was really intended is a cause for alarm and leaves much food for thought for other members of the GOP party who have not even dare to condemn him. People like this are not fit for public office. Well maybe Kennedy’s health bill must be hastened so that Inhofe could benefit for a mental checkup.I believe he has a big big and serious serious problem

  230. southern guy says:

There you go debit, repeating lies just like your master the anointed one. Don’t know where you get the Buckwheat comment but after reading your childish lesbian post I can see why your so pissed. I remember kids like you in college, when I received my degree after retirement. Same old brainwashed comments from someone who has never had to work/struggle to provide for a family. You and your liberal buddies need to wake up from the dream world you live in and take a good look at what the real world is about. These animals you say our fighting men and women mistreated live to chop off heads and kill anyone who does not believe as they do, in Allah!! Well the first thing they will do is get rid of all the freaks of nature such as you. Have a good life because you sound like a miserable human being. Southern Guy and proud of it!!! P.S. AND.. NAFTA did send the plants away that left a lot of people here jobless. The left don’t want to admit that do they?

  234. EugeneDebs says:

OK Obammy still racist BS. Look you are stupid. That isnt anyones fault but your own. You are a moron and you are a racist piece of garbage. Calling him the anointed one is another Limborg idiocy you have been programmed with. you should at least have the self awareness to be embarassed for being so stupid and brainwashed. I guess you can let Rush do your thinking for you if you want. Especially since you are too stupid to do your own but it is still pathetic. Thats you. You are pathetic. Of COURSE you fly the Rebel flag you are stupid and you are a racist. Fly the flag of Souther Treason it shows your true colors. Stop lying it is especially stupid to lie when it is SO easy to SEE you are lying.

NAFTA was a disaster. It was however the LEFT that fought Clinton on it. Again you are delusional and brainwashed to claim the left wouldnt admit NAFTA was a mistake the LEFT was saying that all along. Step up your game dude. If all you are going to do is repeat this stupidity you have been brainwashed with, delusions easily proven wrong then LIE about what you said you are just going to turn into another pathetic troll. TRY for once thinking for yourself and find out for yourself if what you are about to say has at least at tenuous connection to the reality based universe.

And… as for world war 2… It took the bombing of pearl harbor to finally get the left off their butts and do something. They wouldn’t do anything until then.

Prior to WWII, it was the right wing that was agitating for closer relations with Nazi Germany. Fascism always has been a right wing phenomenon, and right wingers have historically been close to fascist regimes everywhere. The 1930’s were a blatant example of this.

    Consider the German American Bund:

Arguably, the zenith of the Bund’s history occurred on President’s Day, February 19, 1939 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Some 20,000 people attended and heard Kuhn criticize President Franklin D. Roosevelt by repeatedly referring to him as “Frank D. Rosenfeld”, calling his New Deal the “Jew Deal”, and stating his belief of Bolshevik-Jewish American leadership.

Does that sound like “the left” to you?

But just in case that stake hasn’t been driven in deeply enough, here’s another interesting paper on the relationship between conservative U.S. industrialists and Nazi Germany.

Maybe the left didn’t want to do anything. Make love not war and all that. But the right wanted us to be buddy-buddy with Hitler, which would have been worse than nothing at all.

    00712C Says:

Carter tried to negotiate with Iran for the release of embassy people which failed.

    Oh yeah, his failed negotiation

After rejecting Iranian demands, Carter approved an ill-fated secret rescue mission, Operation Eagle Claw. Late in the afternoon of April 24, eight RH-53D helicopters flew from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz to a remote road serving as an airstrip in the Great Salt Desert of Eastern Iran, near Tabas. Early the next morning six of the eight RH-53D helicopters met up with several waiting C-130 transport and refueling airplanes at the landing site and refueling area, designated “Desert One” by the mission.

Of the two helicopters that did not make it to Desert One, one suffered avionics failures en route and returned to the USS Nimitz, and the other had an indication that one of its main rotor blades was fractured, and was abandoned in the desert en route to Desert One.

Lots of people have little to no opportunity. We all work our asses off, and only some of us get anywhere, either through incredibly long-shot luck or having it handed to them on a silver platter; you’re blind to both the undertrodden and the undeserving. We have lots and lots and lots of problems that aren’t caused by government, as well as many that are; you only see half of that picture. I submit that you are still a child.

The company that built the props went out of business. So, what good are helicoptors without props. How was that? I wonder how much it cost to send prop less helicopters to Bosnia that were useless. Hundreds of thousands of dollars. So when Bush took office he had to fix all these problems. Bush had the props built.

Bush ordered some helicopter props built… this is the example you’re thrusting in my face of one president handing off a screw-up to the next. That’s what you got. Some helicopter props. Are you kidding me?

Here’s just a handful of the fcuked-up problems inherited by Obama from Bush:

    1. Iraq (being there at all)
    2. Afghanistan (unresolved)
    3. Osama Bin-Laden (still alive)
    4. The financial industry (tanked)
    5. The homeowner industry (tanked
    6. The federal deficit (already spent to hell)
    7. Guantanamo Bay (legal nightmare)
    8. Abu Ghraib (still leaking horrors)

If it was just a matter of straightening out a little helicopter prop supply chain issue, Obama could have taken care of that within the first hour of taking the Oath of Office.

Damn, you people are good at whining about nothing.

It is apples and oranges. I’d show considerably more decorum if I was on the radio or television. They have no excuse being as uncouth as the likes of us.

Just recently, one of your radio personalities was espousing beating and abusing any child who turns out to be gay. Now, it would be one thing for an anonymous person to post that in a website’s comments area. And I would argue vocieferously against that. It’s quite another thing to call for monstrous behavior on the air. There’s a certain measure of responsibility that they bear which we don’t. That responsibility increases the larger your audience is. And of course, elected officials should always consider the importance of the office they hold before making any inflammatory statements.

Getting back to topic, this is exactly the problem with Inhofe’s comments. That’s the sort of thing that goes over at freepers or newsbusters, but is flatly inappropriate coming from a Congressman. It’s important to understand the difference.

    You don’t.

  308. ElBruce says:

    cecil91 Says:

What does an act of rape have to do with political identity? Where is the logic?

    Here’s the logic:

Recent pictures from Abu Ghraib show that men, women and children were raped there. The “few bad apples” excuse provided by Cheney has been proven false, as all operating procedures were approved via a chain of command coming through the White House, to the DoJ, back to the White House, to the CIA (via Condi) and there directly to Abu Ghraib.

In fact, rape would not qualify as torture under the DoJ memos being cited by conservatives as providing legal cover for the White House to authorize the treatment, as it would not count as “pain equivalent to organ failure or death.”

Conservatives such as yourself are today excusing Bush, Cheney and everybody who worked for them, saying that what they did was justified under a variety of excuses. It turns out that what they did was conspiracy to commit rape… among other things that you don’t seem to care about. But I thought that one might get your attention.

    .

    cecil91 Says:

As for torture, there is evidence that Pelosi kniew about the enhanced interrogations and said nothing.

I have yet to see this evidence. All I’ve seen are people claiming there’s evidence. Kindly produce the evidence.

Actually, the fact is that under state secrecy rules, it is illegal to use any recording devices or even take notes during a classified intelligence briefing. Therefore, no such evidence could legally exist. So the best you’re going to get is a “he said / she said” situation. Sorry, that’s just not good enough.

    .

    cecil91 Says:

No one in the Bush administration has been charged with torture, let alone convicted.

“I haven’t been caught yet, so I must be innocent!” said the bank robber.

I’m only maintaining that it should be investigated. Unlike the Bush Administration, I do not seek to skip due process under the law.

    .

    cecil91 Says:

There is still plenty of disagreement as to what constitutes torture.

Thought experiment: let’s you and me hop in a time machine, go back to say, 2002 and have a chat with cecil91 of that era. If we described these acts, you would have said they were torture. Anybody would have. Right up until BushCo admitted to it, it was common knowledge that such techniques were barbaric and beneath the United States of America regardless of the circumstances.

In fact, I’d bet that the cecil91 of 2002 would b!tchslap the cecil91 of 2009 over exactly this point. Shep Smith’s got my back on it.

Let me give you a simple working definition of torture: if you’re doing something to someone so that they’ll cooperate just to make you stop, you’re torturing them. Here’s why that works. If it’s not torturing them, then it won’t work on them, and they won’t cooperate with you. If you’re doing something that will force them to cooperate, then it must be effective and therefore torture.

Apply this definition to waterboarding – if waterboarding isn’t torture, if it’s perfectly tolerable, if it’s just “splashing a little water on their face,” then it wouldn’t get a hardened terrorist to give up information. On the other hand, if it does get a hardened terrorist to give up information, then it must be so horrible that you have to call it torture.

    .

    cecil91 Says:

ANyway, there were lots of democrats who bought into the bad intelligence. Kerry, Kennedy, Hillary for openers.

There were lots of Americans who bought into the bad intelligence. But only the executive branch had the ability to look at the evidence underlying the CIA summary report. We were all fooled. Heck, when Powell pointed at that map and said that he had seen the evidence about WMD wagons, even I believed him. Does that make me complicit in the lie too?

    .

    cecil91 Says:

So the Bush administration wasn’t lying at all. They were fed bad intelligence like everyone else.

It was reported at the time that Cheney had lower-level CIA information (not vetted or analyzed) regarding anything damning on Iraq pipelined directly to his office past CIA analysts who could confirm the information. Many people in the CIA have gone on record as having been bullied and intimidated by the White House into “finding any dirt” on Saddam.

But here’s the interesting thing – if the CIA was so bad, why haven’t we done anything about it? If it was some people working in the CIA who screwed up so horribly, then why haven’t they been found out and fired? And here’s the kicker – why did Bush give George Tenet a Presidential Medal of Freedom after he knew that Tenet had delivered him the “bad intelligence” which led to the most colossal mistake a world leader has made in the modern age? Why would he do that if nobody had been fired and nothing had been done to reform the CIA?

Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I could easily explain Tenet getting a PMoF. But I’m not going to go quite that far. Rich white people are pretty good at talking in nudges and winks, after all.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t just “bad intelligence.” Don’t you think that on such a critical point of fact, Bush would have wanted to see more than just the summary page? Maybe he would have wanted to drill down a bit to make sure he was making the right decision. In fact, Powell stated explicitly that he had seen the evidence. He had not.

    .

    cecil91 Says:

If not, then where are the arrests and convictions?

Being blocked by the Republican propoganda machine. You are a part of it. You’re doing it right now. But again, just because nobody’s been arrested yet doesn’t mean that nobody should ever get arrested. That’s like a bank robber calling the cops and saying “I got away so that means you can never arrest me.”

    .

    cecil91 Says:

And finally, nobody lied so we could kill hundreds of thousands of people.

Just two weeks ago Dick Cheney was still saying that Saddam had ties to terrorism. Two weeks ago. Many years after it was proven false. How is he not lying?

Produce the WMD’s. Produce the evidence that Saddam (secular military dictator) would consort with religious terrorists (people who hate secular military dictators), much less give them weapons. Oh yeah, while you’re at it, produce some WMD’s.

We killed hundreds of thousands of people.

    Why?

    .

    boggled with humanity Says:

I believe that after reading these comments that I have followed the best, true and only Savior.

I’m going to guess you’re talking about Jesus Christ… are you implying that no liberals are Christians? Not that it is in the least bit relevant to anything discussed in this thread.

I live in Oklahoma and this guy is a moron. He is RABID! When the Murrah Building was bombed (by someone with a mindset identical to his), he was being interviewed by a local station in front of the building while they were still searching for survivors. He immediately went into a tirade where he tried to tie then-president Clinton directly to the bombing. The station, mercifully, cut his interview off. He is a fanatical hater of anything that involves free speech, multiculturalism, freedom of choice (on any issue unless the choices are limited to what the folks that pay him want you to be limited to). He is the best politician that money can buy. He has proudly proclaimed, while arguing for a bill on the senate floor, that he takes money from big oil and that, along with the ultra-fundementalist religious right are who he truly serves. He also champions anti-environmental causes for the larger agricultual (not the family farmer, the big corporate farms).
We have tried to get him out of there but he gets alot of money from all his buddies. We had a young man run against him in the last election. He didn’t win but he fought him pretty even in the larger metropolitan areas but didn’t do well in the rural areas. There are alot of good people here but they don’t explore the candidates and Inhofe is an expert at utilizing the politics of fear and mixing that in with “religious issues” such as abortions, same-sex marraiges, etc. and uses the cash from the big business contributers to fund his campaign. Aside from a few pork projects and amendments to take care of his contributers he has done nothing for this state.
If you ever want to see what the country would look like if Bush-Cheney would have been able to do everything they wanted, just look at our state. We live in a virtual theocratic-oligarchy. The gop has taken both houses by a large, bullet-proof majority. They have passed limits on how much medical insurance companies can be sued for. They also helped them by allowing them to not have to cover certain conditions such as autism and other long term care conditions. And to make sure that it can’t be reversed, they placed a long impossible process that involves conducting long term economic impact and financial studies, along with having to present them to many different commitees, any of which can kill it. They have already done this. It is meant to discourage any action to undo what they have done here. Inhofe helped put these guys in power. We have a long way to go and the dems here don’t seem to have the balls to fight them effectively. So, with all that I would like to apologize for this idiot, but I won’t. I voted against him and will continue to help anyone that wants to oppose him and his goons. Sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors.

If you’re thinking “zero,” I’d like to remind you that the people in charge of this have a proven pattern of lying about these things. On multiple occasions, they have told us that they weren’t doing things that it turned out they were doing. They have told us that “zero” instances have occurred of crimes, when it turned out that many instances occurred.

Of course, an independent investigation would be able to figure out the real number. But until it does, I think you might want to hold off on such absolute statements, lest you find yourself another one of the proven liars.

Has that ever happened? No. Even if it had, what you’re promoting is vigilantism.

What about torturing people who didn’t know about an attack on your daughter? Should those torturers be brought to justice?

Let’s make this real simple – if you want to live in a country where your safety is the government’s top priority, above any due process or law, then North Korea is the place for you. They’ll keep you perfectly safe from external enemies, and you can live in peace there.

But I love America for a reason. And because of that reason, I won’t allow you to warp it into a nightmare just so that you don’t have to live in fear any more.

The definition of “patriotism” is somebody who is willing to accept risk in order to uphold the ideals of their nation. You are no patriot. You are a coward. I will not allow you to subvert my country to serve your cowardice. Get out.

This is my first time posting on here. I wanted to scream when I read some of these posts! I have read some extremely stupid posts on here and I’m from Arkansas so those are some pretty big shoes to fill. To the people farther up who suggested that only black people voted for Obama and all Democrats are homosexuals and on welfare, where do you get your information? I’m white, straight, and have never in my life been on welfare. As far as him being a ‘Savior’ or ‘The Anointed One’ I am a Democrat and I have never heard him called that before I read the posts from Republicans on here. Maybe YOU believe him to be a ‘Savior’ but I don’t. I see him as a MAN who was elected as President who actually seems to have his wits about him. I realize that intelligence can be a scary concept if it’s something you are not familiar with so I might just have to forgive you on that. And to come in here and the first thing you write is bashing liberals and then have the ball$ to be surprised when you get attacked back? I didn’t realize Republicans hold the monopoly on talking $hit. And saying that liberals are bigots and hate mongerers? WE elected a black president, Republicans came on here and refered to him as ‘Buckwheat’. So tell me again who the bigot is? I have nothing against gays. I have many gay friends and believe they should have the right to marry. Republicans came on here and made numerous digs at homosexuals. So who are the bigots and hate mongers? It’s usually the ones who rally the hardest against homosexuals that end up getting caught soliciting male prostitutes and then go to anti-gay bootcamp and come back ‘cured’ of their homosexuality. Obama didn’t apologize for anything and Rebublicans need to learn the difference between MUSLIMS and TERRORISTS. They are not one and the same. And lastly, yes waterboarding can cause serious damage like, I don’t know, DEATH. There is a reason why it’s also called dry drowning. Because you can drown without inhaling any water into your lungs. Suffocation basically. And if they don’t have oxygen they can also get brain damage as well as dementia. So would you really trust information gathered from someone possibly suffering from brain damage or dementia? Good strategy.

Weird, that got cut off in my previous post.

Thank you Inhofe! The comments on this subject clearly show that most commentators know nothing about Islam.

You cannot comment on Islam if you have never read the trilogy that is comprised of the Qur’an (prophecies received by Muhammad from the Angel Gabriel), Sira (biography of Muhammad) and Hadiths (traditions of Muhammad) and then reach your own conclusions about Islam. Islam is not a “religion” like Lutheran, Catholicism or any other mainstream religion in America. Instead, it is an ideology that contains a political system, culture and religion.

After you have read these three books if you still think that your president is on the right track, then I would respect your opinion. However, what is being said on this blog shows nothing but ignorance.

The trilogy that I mentioned is neither difficult to read nor very long but is very interesting!

One of the fundamental differences between liberals and conservatives, perhaps the most important one politically, is what they think (or how they feel) about the United States. Conservatives think the U.S. is a great country. Liberals feel it is a deeply flawed, but redeemable, country. Whackos feel it is hopelessly bad, and should be destroyed or remade.

You’ve stumbled upon something here. I could be wrong but I’ll assume for the moment that you consider yourself a Christian. I’ll also assume that you have a Bible that you can read as opposed having around as a prop. The message of the New Testament is indeed that we are “flawed, but redeemable. I’m not Christian but I certainly agree with this principle when it comes to how I feel about our country. It’s very ironic that the “godless’ liberals are so close to the message of the New Testament and people like you are so far away. But then again, if you actually read the bible instead of thumping it,you’d know that Jesus never said it was going to be easy.

  334. arkie says:

I’m a liberal and I also love this country, which is probably the reason why I get so angry when the government does f#cked up $hit. I believe we are better than that and should learn to practice what we preach a little bit better. But having said that there is no country that is or ever will be perfect. As times and laws and technology and public opinion changes, there will always be room for improvement and as long as we accept that and aspire to the greatness that our country is capable of without having to deny anyone basic human rights or torturing people then we are already on the right path. In order to keep our integrity as a country the government SHOULD be held accountable for what they do. During the Bush era they weren’t and look what happened. Could the Democrats have stepped up more and voiced their opinions more? Absolutely. Do I think it would have done a d@mn bit of good? Nope. If there has been anybody in history that has encouraged terrorist activity it is GEORGE W. BUSH and the tactics he used. If you were to compare the number of extremist terrorists pre-Bush against the amount during and after his reign of terror, I’d be willing to bet the farm that it’s several times higher so the terrorists owe Bush a big pat on the back for helping to realize the goals of all the propaganda the extremists were using to try to recruit more members. So well done to you.

  335. arkie says:

The conservatives think it’s a great country for a selective few people to have the right to enjoy. If you are a old, rich, straight, white male you got it made in the shade. Everyone else is a plague and doesn’t deserve to have basic human rights as far as Republicans are concerned. It’s just too bad for the ‘GOP’ that the MORAL majority of America is NOT old, rich, white males. America is known as a melting pot for a reason and those reasons should be embraced. That’s the beauty of this country. You have such an eclectic mix of people. People should not all be exactly the same. If they were this country would be pretty d@mn boring. Besides who would the Republicans hate if everybody was just like them? It’s no secret that hate is the driving force behing their party.

Shame on you, sir, for your thoughtless, classless, untrue and vicious slander against President Obama. Calling him “un-American” and accusing him of siding with the terrorists is nothing more than hate speech, and I believe that you ought to be censured by your colleagues for such heinous slanders.

You sir, are an ignorant, racist, reality-denying BUFFOON, and if you had even a tiny shred of self-awareness and the dignity God gave a goat, you would resign your senate seat so someone who truly puts America and Americans first could serve this country in your place.

Shame on you. Shame on you.

  341. arkie says:

Leftwing Annie, would you be so kind as to post his email address? I would love to send him something.

And once again, Obama is not kissing the terrorists @sses despite what some cons think. There is a whole world of Muslims out there that have nothing to do with terrorism. These terrorists are feeding the people they are trying to recruit all kinds of anti-American propaganda. Some of it is probably true, other stuff is probably made up. Your darling George Bush came on the scene with his ignorance toward and open contempt for everything Muslim and drove those people right into the arms of the terrorists. In case you haven’t realized by the fact that there are new news reports all the time about new suicide bombings, Bush’s strongarm tactics HAVEN’T WORKED. After 8 years he screwed everything up and solved NOTHING. Now Obama is trying a different tactic. Instead of trying to blow everyone up who doesn’t agree with us, which will probably end in the destruction of the entire Earth and human race, he’s going over there to show these people that we are not the same country that we were under that tyrant Bush. The MORAL majority doesn’t hold the same f#cked up view of the world that he does. And if even ONE person is thinking of joining Al Queda or the like and then hears Obama’s speech and thinks, ‘hmm maybe they aren’t really as bad as these people tried to tell me they are’ and decides NOT to join, THAT will be a victory for America and the War on Terror. What you don’t understand is that in these areas that are ruled by Taliban and Al Queda the only information they are getting about America is through the terrorists themselves. They have their own versions of Rush Limbaugh and the like spreading bull$hit propaganda. Now that we have a president that will go over there and show that he has respect for human beings, whether they share his views or not, maybe, just maybe people will start to realize that the $hit those groups are feeding them is just propaganda and perhaps that will help to stop or at least lessen the frequent attacks on our military overseas. OR DON’T YOU CARE ABOUT THAT?

  342. arkie says:

What it all comes down to is Republicans being pissed that they got their a$$e$ handed to them in the last elections and don’t control $hit anymore and therefore can’t force their crazy a$$ beliefs down everyone’s throats because a good portion of America wised up to the bull$hit. When Bush first won, whenever Dems would speak out Rush The Big Fat Idiot and his fellow, well, idiots would say ‘oh the Dems are just mad that they lost’ and bull$hit like that. Fast forward 8 years and when the Reps got their ignorant a$$e$ SPANKED, we have idiots doing tea parties and b!tching about everything Obama does. Karma anyone? I always knew that Reps were into teabagging but I didn’t realize how enraptured with it they really were. They are Teabaggers Extraordinaire!!!

Yes,I say pertinent because that is pretty much what this thread has degenerated into.

I agree with you all. You are all right, all correct. The names you call each other are all completely true. Even when you change them to synonyms of each other they are simply redundancies and still true.

I have to believe you know better than to let this thread degenerate into a schoolyard fight. If all y’all do not know better it is time to learn facts and figures that are not punctuated by ill-disguised profanities. They add nothing to the discussion but tell more about the person posting than about the person being villified.

UpdateThe Financial Times reports, “Even Saudi Islamists expressed their satisfaction after Mr Obama spoke on Thursday. ‘It is a beautiful speech in general,’ said Mohsen al-Awaji, an activist. ‘He talked about peace in Islam and we are saying yes, Islam is a religion of peace towards those who are peaceful with us but a religion of war for those who are fighting us.’”
UpdateMore Iraqi reaction. The Washington Post reports, “[F]or many Muslims, Obama’s nearly hour-long address at Cairo University was a much-welcomed clearing of the air.”

Why is it that everyone who disagrees with the liberals views is a racist, moron or the other some other vile person, according to the comments on this site? Is it because some of us believe that it is against God’s laws to commit homosexual acts. If that lifestyle wasn’t pushed down Christians throats, to be accepted as natural, we may be more receptive to your ideas. If that’s the idea, you folks better never fall under Islamic Law.
