The Memphis Flyer recently caught multiple local Burger King restaurants sporting big “Global Warming is Baloney” signs. The Burger King corporation quickly distanced itself from the controversy: “The two restaurants where these signs appeared are independently owned and operated and were not authorized to display this statement. The signs have since been removed.” However, Leo Hickman of the Guardian reports that many of the signs are still up, and the corporation in charge of the franchises — a Memphis-based company called the Mirabile Investment Corporation — is defending its position:
Media attempts to contact MIC to establish why it was taking an apparently defiant stance were rebuffed, but the Guardian managed to grill MIC’s marketing president, John McNelis.
“I would think [Burger King] would run from any form of controversy kinda like cockroaches when the lights get turned on,” said Mr McNelis. “I’m not aware of any direction that they gave the franchisee and I don’t think they have the authority to do it.”
McNelis added: “The [restaurant] management team can put the message up there if they want to. It is private property and here in the US we do have some rights. … Burger King can bluster all they want about what they can tell the franchisee to do, but we have free-speech rights in this country so I don’t think there’s any concerns.”
Susan Robison, vice president of corporate communications for BKC, responded that “BKC has guidelines for signage used by franchisees [which] were not followed. We have asked the franchisee to remove the signage and have been told that the franchisee will comply.”
The truth hurts. Were actually entering an era of global cooling, yet we are spending millions of tax payers money on “global warming” bullcrap.
The earth heats up and cools down, its a cycle that has been going on for billions of years. Go take a 1st grade science class libs.

June 7th, 2009 at 2:09 pmIt’s oddly fitting that the trolls would choose a Burger King thread to hijack.

“Cockroaches” is not an association I’d want to make with my BK franchises. But that’s just me…
June 7th, 2009 at 2:11 pmJeebus, these trolls pissing and shitting their pants today.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:12 pmThe problem with your ignorance is you ignore what has happened in 100 years. Explain that if you dare.
Of course you won’t because you think cycles of the earth happen every 10 years or so. Go back to first grade.

June 7th, 2009 at 2:15 pmIf the trolls could post links to peer-reviewed studies that support their silly claims about climate change, I’d be happy to read them.

Wingnuts are so stupid, they’re not worth arguing with anyway. They’re just borring.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:19 pmActually. That’s why they use the term “Climate Change” now…
June 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pmSo you believe in global cooling then you would have to also believe in global warming which, you know, killed off those hairy elephants
June 7th, 2009 at 2:27 pmJImmy, did you know that george bush is the only president to have served in the military and not gotten an honorable discharge?
June 7th, 2009 at 2:27 pm“Climate change” is a more precise term than “global warming.”
June 7th, 2009 at 2:27 pmI worked at Burger King, decades ago [High School] trust me, they have cockroaches.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:29 pmNo it’s not. “change” allows for cooling too which is less “precise” than “warming” which has an explicit direction to it. “Warming” is more precise.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:31 pmIts odd they use baloney when Burger King, that I know of, doesnt sell baloney.
They should say:

June 7th, 2009 at 2:33 pmI almost shit my pants over the Bush being the most “eco friendly” statement by some clown earlier in this thread! What a laugh riot. This is the same confused crowd who quickly point out how much Bush invested in AIDS in Africa as though that’s what people will remember about the failed Bush Presidency. Bush’s Presidential should have three wings: WAR, DEBT, and CRIME.

I worked at BK when I was in HS. Not only did they have roaches but they had nasty employees too. YUCK!
June 7th, 2009 at 2:34 pmAlso, “climate change” happens everyday everywhere. Global warming is a recognized global trend of the destruction of our atmosphere.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:35 pm“I would think [Burger King] would run from any form of controversy kinda like cockroaches when the lights get turned on,” said Mr McNelis. “I’m not aware of any direction that they gave the franchisee and I don’t think they have the authority to do it.”
Actually, Mr. McNelis, they have every right in the world to do so. You may own (or lease) the building, but you don’t own the name of the business. You are licensing the Burger King name and they have every right in the world to decide how that name will be used. Think about it, Mr. McNelis. Would you have had the legal right to open up a restaurant and call it a “Burger King”, use their logos and menu items, without having to have their approval? Obviously you use their name within their guidelines. If you don’t like it, close down your restaurants and open them up under another name.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:35 pmOkay, Liberty, how many offshore oilwells are in the gulf of Mexico? And who owns them?

We will have to disagree on this one, dixie. Where I live the most drastic “change” is very severe winters. “Climate change” allows for the various ways the over all warming affects the planet.

June 7th, 2009 at 2:37 pmGo Liberty Says:
You see libs, one of the detriments of a federal policy is that it fixes what isn’t broken. that’s why decentralized powers exists to attack the root of the problem. but it’s clear that you want everyone else to stop what they’re doing so you make room for yourself to indulge in what you speak out against for years to come.
And your list proves this how, exactly? Is your argument that (for example) the Gulf of Mexico is polluted, but that’s not broken? Or is it that Texas and Louisiana are doing a bang-up job cleaning the Gulf up so that federal intervention is unnecessary? Or maybe the list has no relationship at all to your claim?
June 7th, 2009 at 2:37 pmLet’s not go insulting cockroaches. They may be the only ones left after the planet heats up.
Swine!

I’m always reluctant to dine at fast food restaurants. I’ve heard too many stories about bored, teenage employees who sabotage the food and then laugh like hell as they watch the unsuspecting customers eat it.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pmGo Liberty,
I really hope that you don’t think you have a point with any of your comments. They aren’t very thoughtful, that’s for sure.
BTW, next time you want to complain about the feds and centralized government, you might want to think about the fact that everyone you voted in since Reagen has done nothing but expand federal government and its power; especially over the state’s rights.
Keep preaching your Republican small government mantra though, at least dems get what they vote for. Looks like you might be happier as a Libertarian. Just realize the fact that you look like a hypocrite, and none of your arguments are going to be taken seriously in a forum where people, quite obviously, understand the history of government and politics far beyond your comprehension.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pmNaw, get some fries covered in cheese and served with ranch dressing…Outback Steakhouse, do your heart right!
June 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pmI think franchisers can withdraw the franchise if the franchisee is deemed to have ‘embarrassed’ or otherwise “damaged” the brand.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pmNot at all. It’s just so easy to debunk your gross generalizations. You however seem to be losing it a bit.
Do you like to be right even when you’re proven wrong over and over. Are you bartlebee?
June 7th, 2009 at 2:44 pmAs a former Burger King employee and manager I can tell all of you guys that all BK operations have been turned over to franchisees. In first grade science class they teach you that. Then in second grade you learn that there hasn’t been 6.5 billion people on the earth for billions of years, and that’s why its a problem now. I think you probably learn that in second grade social studies too.
Oh, and the fact that the changes have been deviating from the normal glacial/interglacial cycles that occur every 40,000 and 100,000 years, which poses the main problem. I think you learn that in college though, obviously a place you’ve never been.

Are you suggesting that these guys could have put up on the sign “We serve white people only” and Burger King HQ wouldn’t have done a thing about it? I know that other groups or organizations would have given them a hard time, possibly even the federal government. But are you suggesting that franchise owners actually have that much freedom to make their licensing companies look bad?

True, but BK needs to walk a fine line here because the more the general public learns about the crap in fast food, the less likely they are to eat it and BK’s survival depends on peddling to the dumb and ignorant, i.e. the GNOP base, who are the only Americans to believe the idiots still trying to debunk the climate change science.
Slippery slope, greased with frying fat.

Not to blanket judgment or anything, but the conservatives who come here posting arguments like this remind me of my 5 year old nephew trying to make a point about something. So scattered and illogical that it just doesn’t even warrant a debate. Another reason that every time I flip by Fox News I puke a little bit in my mouth.

Hey, you must have missed the part of my comment where I said that all of your candidates since Reagen have done nothing but expand federal government. Did you have a rebuttal for that or does your brain hurt too much? I know, I know, its easy to argue about things you think you understand, but its not easy to defend something you don’t understand at all.
Better luck next time. Honestly, I’d switch parties unless you want to go through life knowing that you can’t logically defend the blatant lies that your party has thrived off of for years. The sad part is that the Republican party still has a following of pitchfork carrying dimwits like yourself who think they back up what they preach. In reality, you’re all made fools by the obviously hypocrisy of the last 30 years. Its not even funny anymore.
By the way, I’m not a Dem.

You know, you wouldn’t have your cheap Chinese made Matt Kenseth hat or your 69 cent hamburger if it wasn’t for my tax dollars. Too bad.
I’m comfortable from my high horse. After all, you came to my website spouting off your uneducated rhetoric, don’t act like we’re not going to defend our values. Just because its easy to point our your logical fallacies doesn’t mean I’m pompous. Just means you’re an idiot.

June 7th, 2009 at 3:12 pmYou guys should see how many neocons come to my blog in a week pretending to be veterans of the United States. It’s truly HIGH-sterical. And what do they do? They go after the REAL US veteran on my blog, you know, the veteran who has 100% disability from his time in the Persian Gulf War. They insult him every day they’re on. Neocons are pathetic and Americans know this. This is why all the screeching they’re doing today is making their party become quickly irrelevant and very tiny.

June 7th, 2009 at 3:16 pmAlright Go Liberty, here’s your chance! Tell us what branch you served in and where you were stationed.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:16 pmIf you dont believe climate change is caused by the poisen we spew into the atmosphere, then try this. After polluting our atmosphere for so many years where do you think it goes.

June 7th, 2009 at 3:20 pmYou saluted George Bush’s flag, you know, the flag that meant raping, torturing, and killing innocent people or people in our custody who weren’t charged with a crime is an American value. You also clicked your jackboots together and extended your arm to this flag that DOUBLED THE DEBT TO ALMOST $12,000,000,000,000, THAT ALLOWED THE BIGGEST ATTACK ON OUR NATION TO HAPPEN UNINTERRUPTED, THAT SPIED ON POLITICAL OPPONENTS WHILE SHUTTING DOWN THE HUNT FOR BIN LADEN, AND THE SAME ONE THAT SAID, “MONEY TRUMPS PEACE”!
After 8 years of George Bush, there were many Americans wishing they could salute the Mexican flag because that flag seemed more nicer!

June 7th, 2009 at 3:25 pmGood honest conservatives? You mean like this guy who moved here from Texas and after they removed his dead body from his home they found dirty bomb materials he was going to use to blow up President Obama with? Those good conservatives?…

They are both immature fools, pretending to be something they aren’t. If they had any integrity, they would admit who’s paying them to post here. By insisting that they are getting paid to be here, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. No one could seriously be as stupid as the two characters they’re playing here.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:30 pmdelusional much?
June 7th, 2009 at 3:30 pmDonald Rumsfeld ran the military as SecDef and he had military experience. Look how badly he phucked the military over and our country!

OMG, it’s so pathetic to watch them especially when Harry Reid threatens to make them work on a Saturday. They all scream, “But I’ve got a football game to go to! I already bought the tickets! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! You’re mean Harry!”.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:35 pmI dare you to go to Baltimore and say that. Blue crabs rock!
June 7th, 2009 at 3:36 pmWhy do they have the signs up anyway?
June 7th, 2009 at 3:37 pmGod you’re gullible.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:38 pmJimmy Big Bucks Says:
I was up at 3am studying chapter by chapter of US law while you dirts were our partying having sex, doing drugs and drinking. And you PEOPLE have the nerve to complain that I make more money and that its unfair.
Why are you so bitter? We can only assume that you chose to study. Did you pass the Bar Exam?
BTW, no one here cares how much or how little money you make.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:38 pmI’m a little surprised that you guys gave these two morons this much play.
I would have advocated ignoring them about two hours ago. They obviously have no purpose here other than to stir up shit, and they can’t even do that with any style.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:38 pmFollow the money. People are getting rich off of this fraud. This entire fraud is based on computer models that give a result that is programed. Any computer model can give a desired result. Wake up fools and look at the billions being made off of it. I became suspicious when Al Gore refused to debate leading scientist who refute global warming. Gore is not a scientist only a modern daly snake oil salesman. Remember liberals in the 60’s mantra of “question authority”. It’s time for liberals to question global warming and not follow in lockstep those who are postitioned to make billions off a fraud. General Electric is positioned to become even richer than Exxon. Question it folks, wake up.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:40 pmLiberty, its clear, to me, that your here to throw around ad-hominem attacks and not do any actual debate.
I read
Liberty Says: Blah blah
And move on…
June 7th, 2009 at 3:40 pmOk folks. Why are you doing this? Why are you feeding the useless clown trolls? They have nothing to say so there’s nothing to debate about. Are you going to push this threat to 700 posts by responding to the morons?
I am about ready to abandon TP because the troll infestation and the regulars responding to the trolls have made it impossible to read the thread if you come in late.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:41 pmNot to mention, Zoo, that no one here ever believes it when a troll brags about how much money he makes.

Yeah, they all have 6 figure salaries and vacation homes — but they can’t manage spelling, grammar, their tempers, or their bladders.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:43 pmI have looked at many images and have seen how much ice has melted. Quite a bit. Its possible to navigate the northwest passage. Computer models aside.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:43 pmThis guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The first amendment states that the government can’t curtail your speech. A private entity of which you have a contract with can.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:45 pmThe thing about a franchise holder claiming the right of speech for posting an advertisement on franchise property that is contrary to the desire of the franchise holder is just plain stupid. When you ‘buy a franchise’ you get the whole enchilada which means they get to tell you what to do and how to do it.
If BK corporate says no to the sign, it means the franchise holder is legally obligated to take it down. Just like they can’t change the name of the Whopper to Big Eddie’s Yummy Lamb burger. They signed the contract.
If they want to exercise free speech then BK has an equal right to revoke their franchise and invoke any of the penalty clauses.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:46 pmConservatives question science; liberals don’t.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:48 pmWow. This thread was hijacked early by shittohead Limbaugh worshippers.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:49 pmSorry, cons. Your time is over. You had 8 years of total control and your dimbulb president screwed the pooch.
Favorite troll quote:
That any action to slow the progress of human-caused global warming is somehow “libs punishing southerners”
For voting for Republicans?
I agree with your point here. I’m just asking that in the political arena we not give up our strong words for more scientifically(sp?) correct words.
Progressives already give too much ground in the political battle I’m not looking to be very precise. I’m looking to reach a common denominator and converts to the many battles against global warming.
Bottom line. We agree.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:50 pmGood point, Hooda.
Something tells me that if the franchisee wanted to substitute Tofurky for the beef in the Double Cheeseburger, corporate headquarters might have something to say about it.

At least, he sounds like one of our trolls…
June 7th, 2009 at 3:54 pmIf this entrepreneur wanted to establish a restaurant chain, they should have done it with their own system. Buying a franchise means buying their way of doing things, right down to the number of pickles on a burger.
If they want to fly their own flag, they should have put up their own flagpole.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:55 pmFred, we’re giving the “Ignore ‘Em” treatment a go.
Are you on board?
June 7th, 2009 at 3:55 pmNat, can we count on your support?

Or they own highly-successful companies employing many well-paid people — and spend the entire day trolling liberal blogs. Credibility is never their strong point.
The two trolls on this thread are particularly vile and stupid — and typically starving for attention.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:57 pmOops missed it. sure why not.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:57 pmNat, replying to someone who takes their name from the last pole dancer they watched is not worth the time or effort. It is clear some on this thread have no idea of what contracts are.

June 7th, 2009 at 3:59 pmI’m onboard, ralph.
June 7th, 2009 at 3:59 pmI know the republican viewpoints quite well. My father was a republican. So was my ex wife. So are half of my neighbors, and never have I gotten into any arguments as silly as the so called republicans that come here and parrot what O’Reilly or some other pundit says. In fact they dont listen to them and consider them frauds.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:00 pmThe USofA is already a one-party state. It’s the party of privilege and property. It has two wings: The Pukes and the Dims. They differ only on relatively minor points of personal politics. they are virtually unanimous on matters of international policy, climate, global corporatism, and militarism.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:00 pmAnything is possible.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:00 pmThe USofA is already a one-party state. It’s the party of privilege and property.

June 7th, 2009 at 4:03 pmPlease, can I get 2 troll melts to go, with fries well done?
Conservatives are so fcking desperate, they know their rightwing bible thumping ways of thinking are done. Right now as a nation we are progressing for the better. That is in a large part do to liberals like us on TP. You cons are a dying breed. It will become even more evident in 2010,2012. Our president is trying to right the wrongs of the past eight years under bush/cheney. That is something you should support and be proud of. Please wingnuts STFU and get out of the way.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:04 pmYou are irrelevant at this point.
America isnt going communist. Read what the people here say. They are for the constitution, they are for the balance of powers given in the constitution. The people here are not for the destruction of religion.
Now, take the federalists, which Bybee and Yoo and many in the Bush admin were. They are for a unitary executive that abrogates the balance of powers.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:04 pmIt will be a lot of fun to watch them spin their wheels when they’re reduced to talking to themselves while everyone around them engages in reasonable discussion.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:04 pmToo bad it only works for a small fraction of Americans.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:05 pmWell, I’m tired of waiting for the links to those peer-reviewed studies supporting the troll’s fantasies about global climate change.
I’m getting back to my studies. Later!
June 7th, 2009 at 4:05 pmsure thing. That’s why the right is so thrilled with Obama’s trip to Cairo.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:05 pmIt is still fun to smack em upside their big fat doopy heads before you ignore their pitiful cries for attention…
June 7th, 2009 at 4:07 pmI recall those well paid ‘free market’ CEOs got paid big bucks as their Banks and companies went bankrupt and got bailed out by the taxpayers.
‘Free Market’ is a PR slogan, we like to think people are honest and deregulation will result in good things, trouble is greed corrupts and free market to them means its a free for all and do whatever you can do make money.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:07 pmThe people here are not for the destruction of religion.
Well, mebbe most of ‘em aren’t.
Me? I’m with Voltaire: Men will not be free until the last priest is strangled with the intestine of the last aristocrat.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:07 pmGeez, you go out to enjoy a lovely afternoon and return to find the nuts are flinging feces again.
Could not care less what they have to say. It would be so nice if TP had an “ignore poster” feature.
Now what were we talking about before the children interrupted? Oh that’s right – blender drinks. Don’t mind if I do!
PEACE
June 7th, 2009 at 4:08 pmsure thing. That’s why the right is so thrilled with Obama’s trip to Cairo.
C’mon, Fred. It’s window dressing. Nothing’s gonna change. A pretty speech, little else…Kabuki? ever hear of it?
June 7th, 2009 at 4:09 pmY’know, it wasn’t until I really started studying the history of the first years of the Republic that it struck me how bizarre it is that the premier right-wing legal activist organization calls itself the “Federalist Society”.
The Federalists of old — Washington, Adams, Hamilton — were in favor of a strong federal government while the Democratic-Republicans like Jefferson and Burr favored a states-rights approach.
Now the tighty-righties are all about “states rights” (until it comes to a state passing, say a medical marijuana law, or a “Right to Die” law. Then the states can go fu(k themselves, as far as the wingnuts are concerned).
June 7th, 2009 at 4:11 pmthere is not now, nor has there ever been a “free market” of any kind or description, anywhere. Period.
It’s pure propaganda. It has never happend, it doen’t exist now, and it never will.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:11 pmfrom one of the links on the COLBERT thread, i found and posted this:

‘global warning is baloney’ sounds like something colbert would say…
June 7th, 2009 at 4:12 pmcould stephen have a fan at MIC?
Yeah, but they’ve been soiling their diapers and flinging it against the walls for two hours, dbadass. If you were to go back and review the thread, I’m sure you’d agree that it’s time for them to receive a “time out”.

June 7th, 2009 at 4:14 pmIt helps the comments go down easier.
I wasn’t disagreeing ralph. I was just saying…
June 7th, 2009 at 4:15 pmI concur.
‘Free Markets’ can only work if 100% of the people are 100% honest. That is just not, or will likely ever be true. Its why we need oversight and regulation.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:15 pmwhile the Democratic-Republicans like Jefferson and Burr favored a states-rights approach.
First time I have ever heard anyone link Jefferson and Burr as agreeing on anything.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:15 pmI would agree with that statement
June 7th, 2009 at 4:19 pmWell, it’s true Jefferson hated Burr and distrusted him, and later charged him with treason, but they were politically aligned. In fact, Burr was the first Vice-President to serve a President of the same party. (There were no official “parties” when Adams served as Washington’s VP).
June 7th, 2009 at 4:20 pmJimmy Big Bucks Says:
The truth hurts. Were actually entering an era of global cooling, yet we are spending millions of tax payers money on “global warming” bullcrap.

hey jimmy. I see you have your thinking cap on, backwards.
I see why you take the Bible literally…well when it suits you, you do.
Where it’s cooling it use to be frozen and where it’s…in other words the climate, weather, and other things that make up the asmosphere is acting f)ucked up, strange, something on the line of YOU.
HAHAHAHAHA
June 7th, 2009 at 4:21 pmWell, I dont get your dripping issue, seems pointless. But as far as I know there are quite a few more republican lobbyists using government to get their special interest ‘fix’
June 7th, 2009 at 4:22 pmdbadass, I know this approach deprives us of some valuable research opportunities, but sometimes one must sacrifice for the greater good.
Besides, these trolls haven’t shown us anything new. I think the clinical term is, same ol’, same ol’.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:22 pmThe government is for by and of the people as I recall Liberty. Not for by and of the lobbyists and special interest groups.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:23 pmRalph, Burr and Jefferson were never politically aligned. They sort of agreed to get along to keep from problems when they tied for the election to the Presidency. Purely politics that Jefferson used against Burr.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:24 pmIt looks like some of us either haven’t gotten the memo or or not on board with the effort.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:24 pmDid anyone hear something? It sounded sort of low and sissified…

You actually have no idea where most of the pollution comes from. Basically you want to use more land area per-person and produce more polution per-person, and if anybody points out that you’re being unfair you throw a hissy fit.
The reason that cities tend to be liberal is that people in cities have to live near other people. That means learning to coexist with people who may not look like you or think like you. That means having some awareness of the impact of your actions on your neighbors – because you actually have neighbors. Conservatives tend towards rural areas because living far away from anyone gives you the illusion of omnipotence over your environment and breeds xenophobia.
.
Zooey Says:
If the trolls could post links to peer-reviewed studies that support their silly claims about climate change, I’d be happy to read them.
For the trolls, “peer reviewed” means that Cletus and Zeke swapped homework reports and gave each other an A.

I should report you for impersonation.
To: Department of Defense
From: Jimmy Big Bucks
Subject: Impersonation of a veteran
I am writing to inform you that an anonymous person on the internet, who posts under the username “Progressive Veteran” is most certainly NOT a real veteran, and I want you to arrest him for impersonating a veteran, which must be illegal because veterans are way better than unionized police scum, and impersonating a policeman is illegal. I can tell he’s not a veteran because he has liberal views, and the Army Times mail-in polls regularly tell me that servicemen with liberal views are a myth. Please throw him in the brig as soon as you catch up to him. He sometimes posts at thinkprogress.org, a den of communist activity. If you go there, you can catch him the next time he tries to slip through that intertube.
Worshipfully yours,
Jimmy Big Bucks.

So anyways, how about them global warming deniers? Are they nutty or what?
June 7th, 2009 at 4:25 pmI never knew ear-wax had a correlation to ego.
Must be why Limbaugh went deaf.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:26 pmHooda, they were politically aligned in that they were both Republicans, and Burr’s influence in New York was necessary to deprive Adams of the critical electoral votes to win re-election in 1800. It worked so well that there was an electoral tie for the presidency between Jefferson and Burr, and there’s good evidence that jefferson’s whispering campaign accusing Burr of politicking in the Congress to throw the contest his way is actually a very successful example of what republicans specialize in today; blame your opponent of the things you are guilty of.
Anyway, it was an uneasy alliance, but the two were aligned in 1800.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:30 pmLet’s see mankind is 6k yr. Then building of the Pyramids took 3 years, the Black Plague lasted 3 weeks, Slavery lasted 2 years…

Uh, yes, there are concerns- that’s why you were contacted; however, you just choose to ignore them.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:30 pm“The Memphis Flyer recently caught multiple local Burger King restaurants sporting big “Global Warming is Baloney” signs.”
If anyone knows fake meat like “baloney” it’s Bugger King.
June 7th, 2009 at 4:30 pmAnd they were both supporters of states rights and opponents of a strong federal government.
(Until Jefferson gained the presidency, that is. Then he kind of walked back that “weak executive” concept.)

June 7th, 2009 at 4:37 pmThere ya go, ralph. Jefferson accused Burr of treason for thinking of setting up a new republic in Texas at about the time he bulled the Louisiana Purchase through.
It was all politics then, still is today. The only bad thing was to be out of power when you got caught.

June 7th, 2009 at 4:42 pmBah hahahahahahahaha! How funny. We’re the control freaks? Whose the one on a liberal blog right now trying to get us to believe only what he says? And you’re onto something? Bah hahahahahahaha! Like what? The backside of a little boy? Yeah, now that sounds more like it, because if you’re saying it’s you bozos who can see the forest through the trees and are the politically savvy ones, that means you COMPLETELY DIDN’T PAY ATTENTION TO ONE DAY OF NEWS DURING THE BUSH YEARS (and no, Fox News isn’t considered a news source ever!)! You dingdongs were just that….the dingdong bozos who still believe George Bush was born and raised in Texas!!
June 7th, 2009 at 4:42 pmOMG what a freekin moron!

June 7th, 2009 at 4:44 pmWayne Ant Schneider in answer to your question yes they have free reign to do as they see fit, however, franchisees also have to put forth professional demeanor because the corp does do mystery shops and they have to receive a 90 or better to maintain the franchise. You said President Obama is doing a horrible job, so now you have to list out what George Bush did starting in 2001 to make sure the recession he inherited didn’t get any worse.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:04 pmYou need to answer my question first, Go Dubbery. You’re diverting attention away from it. Thanks pal.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:06 pmdbadass, I’m hearing a whining sound, but oddly, it’s accompanied by a strange odor, kind of like someone’s passing gas but trying to hide it.
Y’know, what George Carlin used to call “the one-cheek sneak”. Gone bad.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:10 pmYeh, they can slap some aftershave in his face and set him outside for a nice gulf breeze and an inverted shower!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:11 pmI hear the “tropical breezes” in Gitmo are very nice. maybe Mr. Roeder could request a transfer.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:12 pmLiberty, check the numbers, eight years of Bush trickle down and tax cuts, for the 1%, led to the creation of ONLY three million jobs.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:13 pmObama needs to be implementing a job cut plan so the tax payer doesn’t feel alone in this game.
Sorry, this one I can’t resist. I agree, the job cut plan that would most benefit the taxpayers starts on Wall Street and in the bank board rooms. Last I heard secretaries didn’t implement stupid greedy programs we are still paying for.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:14 pmkay, I honestly don’t now what you’re getting out of this twisted relationship you’ve established with our silly cheerleading friend, but if it fulfills some need you have for conflict, far be it from me to interfere.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:15 pmI hear the “tropical breezes” in Gitmo are very nice. maybe Mr. Roeder could request a transfer.
Sorry, Gitmo is for terrorists. Mr. Roeder is a misunderstood soldier of the right.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:15 pm.
Dear Go Liberty,
I see you enjoy promulgating the divisive rhetoric of the extreme right. Because if I am to be incorrect, you would be working toward a solution instead of deepening the divide. That is what your opening salvo was an ad hominem at the president’s use of SUV’s and how you seem to be unable to buy one, yourself.
Silly troll,
Even hard working people can still buy SUV’s.
And the president, a “rock star”? Hardly. Try a global leader who’s ethos out performs that of the “FORMER” president.
p.s.
How’s the wife in Australia.
And that job in India?
Do you still pay her to put out for you?
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:15 pmYeh, it would be much better if they dropped the dog while messing around with little league girls teams instead of throwing a beach ball.

June 7th, 2009 at 5:17 pmIn an era when the population grew by twenty-three million...
June 7th, 2009 at 5:17 pmBut, hey, they did manage to reduce the population in Iraq, right Liberty?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:18 pmdbadass, maybe someone keeps blowing up a balloon and letting the air squeak out of it…?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:18 pmNow, who created a position in the state department for one of his children?
Obama?
Nope. Cheney.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:20 pmWho cut the cheese?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:21 pmI also remember 8 billion, in cash, going missing in Iraq.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:21 pmseems whatever the noise is trying to say is too lame to be audible. Must suck to be so insignificant…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:21 pmAre you sure it’s not simply the noises a troll makes with its usual bodily functions?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:22 pm.
Dear Go Liberty,
Imagine this, the Liberal media can’t chide Bush 43 for all the wasted time he took for vacations because now, Bush 43 is on one long, permanent vacation.
Whew… Bush just dodged that one, no?
Now, Bush43 doesn’t have to be on record for not caring much about OBL.
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:22 pmWow, this new President changed all of the rules. GW flew commercial and paid for it out of his pocket. Used his own Chevy Malibu when he went anywhere. President Obama bought all of these armored SUV’s just to protect his butt.
Snore, yawn.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:23 pmG.L.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:23 pmNot like you ramble or anything…
Max, I think what you’re hearing is the whine from an old upright fan with a bad bearing.
That’s the closest I can place it so far.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:24 pm.
THAT noise…?
… A screw loose!
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:26 pmThere it is again…
maybe it’s a vole, trying to scratch its way out of a Burger King bag?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:27 pmQuestion time. What US President created a new cabinet level department that created hundreds of positions to oversee or replicate the jobs already being done by other departments thus adding millions of dollars to the ‘big bad federal gubmint’?
Can you say Homeland Security?
I knew you could.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:28 pmBWAHAHAHA
June 7th, 2009 at 5:29 pmAnd for those who are lacking in semantic capability, just what is the difference between Homeland and Fatherland?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:29 pmGo Liberty, is the time that you’re spending here the best way you know how to deal with your fears about the future? I’m truly sorry that you’ve become so twisted up by your crippling sense of insecurity, and while I appreciate that you enjoy a slight sense of “having done something” every time you troll, I’d encourage you to find more positive things to do with your time. Go make a difference in your community. Try helping people. It’s rewarding and I promise you you’ll feel better about yourself.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:29 pmAnd then Dubya added more federal employees to take more of republican taxpayers money…growing the size of government some 35%
June 7th, 2009 at 5:31 pm“Weep weep weep… weep weep weep…”
Is it a mechanical noise, or an animal noise?
It’s so hard to tell.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:32 pmDurn Democrats. Can’t keep up with the Republican growth of the federal gubmint.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:32 pmMr. Bush says on the campaign trail that the terrorism insurance legislation he favors would create “over 300,000 jobs.”
Liberty ought to be livid….but wasnt.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:32 pmNow it sounds like a high-pitched poot again…
weird…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:32 pmBush fiscal 2009 budget seeks 26,000 more employees
June 7th, 2009 at 5:35 pmIts still 2009, right?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:35 pmThat pop you hear is the poor widdle trolls heads.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:36 pmSo Go Liberty, when you gonna go and sign up and serve the country you love? Big tough guy like you should be chomping at the bit to go and serve. When do you ship out?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:36 pmHoodathunktick,
When did America become known as “The HOMELAND”?
I thought the name, America, said it all?
Location, people, ideals, principles, hope, aspirations, military, Law…
I guess not so much, anymore.
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:36 pmWait, Liberty, I have more numbers!!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:37 pmGo Liberty Says: I’m never coming back. Promise?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:38 pmIt’s changed tone again.
Now it sounds like this.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:38 pmLMAO Ralph. Well, this sick twisted relationship I have with the trolls started back on the morning of 9/11 when a bunch of them said the reason why our nation was attacked was because of liberals. Since then Ralph, I’ve wanted to squish them like a dead dried up frog on the side of the road. See?
Okay, back to making dinner!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:38 pmlittle people, little noises…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:39 pmThe cheer leader for Liberty U, who says blah, blah, blah, is crying now that she can no longer get a government job. It must really suck being an insignificant pis ant graduate of that 3rd rate diploma mill.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:39 pmGo Liberty: Just as I thought. All talk, no go.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:40 pmI got ya, kay. I’ve been known to play a round or two of Whack-A-Troll™ myself.
Sometimes, though, it just seems like a waste of time. Never thought I’d say that, but we all get older, I guess.
Whack-A-Troll™. The Sport of Kings®.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:41 pmThe noise seems to be trying to get heard by making a sound it has no intention of following through on. It is bad bait…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:43 pmUsed to be, when a squeaky bearing told you it was about to go, you could trust it.
No longer, apparently. They can squeak for years without going.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:44 pmThe ironic thing here is that cows contribute to global warming through methane emissions and these Burger Kings are taking out a lot of cows on a daily basis. XoD
June 7th, 2009 at 5:44 pmI wouldnt call that voluntary…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:45 pmGo Liberty, I thought you were leaving and not coming back? You even lied about that.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:45 pmtold ya. Damn is this easy….
June 7th, 2009 at 5:45 pmdb,
June 7th, 2009 at 5:45 pmIt’s a loose screw.
Max, it does sound like a loose screw, I’ll agree with ya there. But it acts like a bad bearing that refuses to go out. It just squeaks and squeaks and squeaks.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:46 pmOh, so your the reason, George Bush said, that terrorists attacked the US, cause they hate our freedoms.
You must be a liberal
/Snark
June 7th, 2009 at 5:46 pmThis may be America but those rights we have do not matter when you are working for a company, especially a franchise, Burger King Corp has every right to tell their restaurants, franchised or not, what they can or can not put up for signage as they represent the corporation and therefore the corporate views. If this company does not comply to BKC requests they could lose their franchise.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:46 pmRalph, I don’t want to grow up because I’m a Trolls R Useless Warrior kid. See? :-)
June 7th, 2009 at 5:47 pmPresident Obama made it to the top using his freedoms. Beautiful life story he has to go along with it! Must make you some proud, huh Go Liberty? It does us.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:48 pmIts too bad the Liberty cheerleader isn’t like her sorority sister, Monica Goodling, and keeping her mouth shut and pleading the Fifth.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:48 pm.
It could be a box of rocks…
… Or as dumb as, rattling around.
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:48 pmIt only makes sense to plead the Fifth if you know something.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:49 pmralph,
I though parrots squeeked?
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:49 pmBy the way, were the hell is bojangles? What state is that in?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:49 pm..but the Guardian managed to GRILL MIC’s marketing president..
yuk yuk yuk yuk
June 7th, 2009 at 5:50 pmOh wait! I get it, bojangles is a place in the pea brain of Go Liberty. Sorry for asking.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:51 pmThey will if you squeeze ‘em hard enough.
But you could be on to something… it could be a parrot who hasn’t learned to talk yet… at least, not beyond a few nonsense syllables…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:51 pmChicken and Biscuit!
Bwahahaha
June 7th, 2009 at 5:52 pmthey got a lot of Bojangles in North Carolina. sausage in biscuits, fried chicken in biscuits, biscuits n gravey. lot of fat people in NC
June 7th, 2009 at 5:52 pmThe bad part is it is so irritating. Like a high speed bearing whine just before it freezes. Only it never freezes, just changes pitch.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pm.
The only correct answer to go Lib’s querry:
SOMETHING YOU’RE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE!
.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pmWhat do you want to bet that the cheerleader from Liberty U got her job because her husband donated his ass to the republiscun cause. He was probably an aide to Larry Craig.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pmTo get back to Burger King and their anti-global-warming signs…I think it’s time for McDonald franchises to put on their signs, “BURGER KING SUCKS”. Could be very good for business!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pmIz mah tew meenits dun gawn?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pmWhat do you know about the military?
June 7th, 2009 at 5:54 pmOnce again the comments reflect the blatant ignorance of the conservative community . The same conservatives who deny global climate change are the people we see in the fast food restaurant drive through line in a large SUV complete with running motor, still intact ‘Bush Cheney 04’ sticker, cigarette burning and the radio spewing rage about global warming from the mouths of college drop out radio hosts determined to drive the U.S. to third world status.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:55 pmI hate the military cause I didnt answer a squeaky question…..
Now thats some super logical stuff, I am like sham wowed and stuff!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:55 pmGo Liberty, what the hell do you know about the military? You’ve never been and don’t have the balls to go, so what the F**k do you know? I can answer that for ya…NOTHING.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:55 pmQuestion: What is the difference between an obnoxious troll and a radio station?
The power switch.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:56 pmYou Redneck connoisseurs would know!
June 7th, 2009 at 5:56 pmWhat a slow news day, only 2 new threads. The left must be running out of people to demonize.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:57 pmReally? You’ve had over 300 comments to come up with this answer, so I take it you did finally go to Google for help. Sooo…Tell us what your duties were, where you were stationed, and how long you were in as a “master gunnery sgt.” that you didn’t bother to capitalize.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:58 pmGo Liberty: Master Gunnery Sgt. Who, when and were? Should be an easy question for a gunnery sgt.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:59 pmBurger King should just create huge outdoor Virginia state rock fired grills and throw thousands of pounds of red meat for SUV drivers only.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:59 pm“For example”? An answer like that is made by someone who wasn’t a “master gunnery sgt.” and is observing the Google screen at the moment as to what one does.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:59 pmThe reason that our cheerleader troll is so hot about private sector employment is either she couldn’t pass the Civil Service test or she has a criminal record. Must suck to be a stupid criminal, sorta like GWB.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:00 pmGo Liberty Says, “dantheshoeman, i’d be happy to mow your lawn, sir, because goodness comes through the people, not the government.”
Would you mind putting a new roof on my house when you finish mowing Dan’s lawn?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:00 pmYes, we’re really impressed. *rolling eyes* I actually sh8t myself from fear when I read the words. *rolling eyes again*
June 7th, 2009 at 6:01 pmGo Liberty Says:
Keith
there’s that liberal empathy.
What’s your problem? Not everyone who eats at Bojangles is fat. But the percentage is certainly above average. Not my fault.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:02 pmOuch. I guess I dont know what Im talking about.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:02 pmGo Liberty, still haven’t ansered my question. And if you really were a Master Gunnery Sgt. How many years were you in?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:02 pmLiberty, make up your mind. Is it good to be empathetic or bad to be empathetic?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:03 pmBroad? Only a useless man trying to make up for his lack of testicular fortitude uses that word to address women.
Would you like to know why you republicans lost in 2006, 2008, and will continue to lose elections in the future? Answer: KEEP TALKING!
June 7th, 2009 at 6:04 pmAha, Jimmy Sucks Big Ones squeaks in with his insignificant drivel in a vain attempt to support the no solution republiscum side.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:04 pmGo Liberty Says:
not your fault. not your problem. step away and go to dairy queen, you’ve done no wrong. yep.
There’s a parrot down the street who really makes a lot more sense than you!
June 7th, 2009 at 6:05 pmGo Liberty: So I was right the first time. Don’t know shit about the military and never served.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:05 pmangels81 I don’t owe you any info. If I say I served that should be good enough for a bunch of whiny libstards. If you don’t believe me because I won’t give facts that’s because your liers yourself. I know what I know and I don’t know that you know what I know, you know?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:07 pmYou are a wacko. I’m serious. In one breath you say you were a “master gunnery sgt.” and then in the next breath you admit you lied about being in the service and just copied & pasted ‘master gunnery sgt.’ in the hopes we would believe you and be scared of ya from this day forward!
OMG, if you were standing in front of me I’d flick the end of your nose so hard you’d wished you had shut your mouth to begin with!
June 7th, 2009 at 6:07 pmHey Liberty, how many US soldiers lost their lives during the eight years of Clinton? Zero? Over 4200 lost in Iraq under W.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:07 pmHoly cow, Go Dubbery is actually Donald Rumsfeld! No wonder we hate his guts.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:08 pmGo Liberty says: your liers
Wow. Our schools are getting worse!
June 7th, 2009 at 6:10 pmTP moderators i am a regular here what did you not like about my last comment?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:11 pmI’m a four star general and I believe you.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:12 pmIts hard out there for a pimp like me
June 7th, 2009 at 6:12 pmThe ballots are secret. You don’t know how everyone in the military voted.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:13 pmIf the Liberty cheerleader was ever in the Marines she probably spent all her time peeling potatoes while on mess duty in the Chiefs’ Quarters on an aircraft carrier.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:13 pmGo Liberty, any Vet is proud of their service and has no problem telling anyone who would ask who they were with and when they served. Why not try being a man just once in your life and just say, I haven’t served and don’t know shit about the military.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:16 pmI scared Mommy check under my bed tonight for monsters and libruls and trolls oh my
June 7th, 2009 at 6:16 pmGo Liberty: We already knew you were scared. Tell us something we don’t know.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:18 pmThe Liberty cheerleader reminds me of that 1-800-call Gary ad…
“I’m not a Marine, I’m a spokesperson…”
June 7th, 2009 at 6:19 pmWhy not try being a man just once in your life and just say, I haven’t served and don’t know shit about the military.
—————-
I have no balls and I’m a big prick but don’t assume I’m a man. Everyone here alrady knows I never served because I’m a chickenhawk chickenshit but I talk big game just like my idles Rush and Cheney and Newt.
War is for poor people’s kids blood not mine.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:19 pmIf you keep scratching that owie, it will never heal.
Remember when your mom told you that? It is still true.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:21 pmGo Liberty, your right, I shouldn’t assume you were a man. I meant to say boy or girl if that fits.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:23 pmI was going to tear into #422 and then realized that it was a different person. Guess I’m slow today.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:25 pm.
Dear THINK PROGRESS,
PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING TP FREE FROM SPAM FOR ADULT PORN.
.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:26 pmWhat do you want to bet that Go Liberty’s fondest memory in uniform is when she sold cookies in front of Safeway?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:28 pmGo Liberty, I would never trash Women by calling you one. I was speaking of one’s age.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:28 pmhi ralph. have too much time on your hands. or are you db?

June 7th, 2009 at 6:28 pmGo Liberty: Whats a sence?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:29 pmHmmm a Liberty and a Librety…
June 7th, 2009 at 6:31 pmSince Merdad was such a bad speller Im guessing thats Librety
June 7th, 2009 at 6:33 pmGo Liberty: That wasn’t my post dummy.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:34 pmAh, if we could all just live the life of a troll.
Ignore anything you choose while taking joy in causing disruption.
Put your mind on hold and just trust that someone else will think for you and tell you what to do.
Spew anything you like with no thought as to its veracity or worth, just open mouth (or fingers) and go for it with the firm belief that it makes no difference.
Live life to its fullest in the name of nickles.
Ah, to be a troll.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:35 pmstill to scared to answser me? I have owned all you libtards today because I make more sence then any of you.
O’Rielly is right
Are you illiterate or DRUNK??
June 7th, 2009 at 6:36 pmXisithrus,
It’s a bildohbro…
… You know, the man who prefers to take American jobs, marries an Aussie wife and has to pay to get laid, ‘cuz he’s got game.
.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:36 pmGo Liberty, so you assume I’m white? Could be wrong ya know.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:36 pmWhat a f ucked up tool. It is embarassing what a clown the noise is. I sort of feel bad for it…
June 7th, 2009 at 6:37 pmMax, if ever there was a case to be made to TP moderators to consider banning by IP address, the porn spammer would be it.
PEACE
June 7th, 2009 at 6:37 pmIs “Go Librety” a third person?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:38 pmTP, could we PLEASE have an Ignore button. I don’t want to ban this poor excuse for a human but I don’t want to listen to it either.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:39 pmI wouldnt be surprised if Bildo is also Merdad
June 7th, 2009 at 6:40 pmnever dropped acid in its life but thinks it is cool to claim to have…
June 7th, 2009 at 6:40 pmGo blah blah…
skip to next post
June 7th, 2009 at 6:40 pmGo Liberty, if nobody cares, then you are pretty stupid to have assumend something that no one cares about.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:41 pmThe people putting up the baloney signs are incorrect. What they are saying, I gather, is ‘Man made global warming is baloney’
Sheesh
June 7th, 2009 at 6:44 pmI’m sorry, I have to laugh. A troll who comes in here for attention who claims they want to use an Ignore button. Ha ha, it is to laugh.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:45 pmWell this isn’t a free speech issue as the article states so lets not make it into one.
Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of our democracy and we shouldn’t belittle it when the speech is speech we don’t like. If only the speech we like is free, then there is no free speech.
This issue however has nothing to do with free speech.
Anyone who’s ever owned a franchise knows you own it insofar as you abide by the terms of the franchise. It’s not your store. It’s your “franchise”. And that means you are subjected to the terms of the franchise as outlined by the corporation from which you purchased the franchise from.
And since Burger King as a corporate entity would likely never grab a third rail issue such as Global Warming, on either side, then clearly this franchise has violated the terms of their franchise and needs to take down the stupid signs.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:46 pmThey are like butter knives….
June 7th, 2009 at 6:46 pmGo Liberty: Cry much? I’m not crying, I’m pointing out how stupid someone can be for making assine assumptions and then saying they don’t mean anything.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:47 pmDoes anyone here want to leave their kids with that creepy looking Bugger King guy, on teevee, in tights and short coat and stupid crown on his head?
June 7th, 2009 at 6:47 pmXisithrus Says:
A troll who comes in here for attention who claims they want to use an Ignore button. Ha ha, it is to laugh.
They are like butter knives….
Plastic ones at that.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:50 pmAnd whats the deal with a waking up and having a creepy looking king in your bed?
Weird with a beard
June 7th, 2009 at 6:50 pmUPDATE: Ten of ten people polled would rather clean the lint out of the bellybuttons than spend a minute with Go Liberty.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:53 pmwho are you kidding you libtards wouln’t ignore my posts because you need to see what the other side is doing. your all so scared about loosing all those seat next year and making the white house white again in 4 years.

June 7th, 2009 at 6:55 pmshark fisheries are unsustainable. Elect not to consume shark products….
June 7th, 2009 at 6:56 pmId rather insert belly button lint than spend a minute with that constantly changing sound wave.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:56 pmI am missing my bad spelling drugs…wonder who got them…
June 7th, 2009 at 6:58 pmtehliqe Says:
Goony-goo-goo to you, too, ya porn spammin’ bastahd, ya.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:59 pmFinally, our little irritating troll made a blatantly racist comment. Ban the turd.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:59 pmGo Liberty, whats a brane?
June 7th, 2009 at 7:02 pmI turned on the teevee yesterday, someone left it on that super secret Efff Ohhhh Ecksss channel, the intentional ignorance emanating from it nearly singed my eyelashes off and it left my reeling and screaming ‘The stoopid it burns!!’
June 7th, 2009 at 7:02 pmActual drug addicts spell and speak better than this complete, non-stop idiot.
June 7th, 2009 at 7:03 pmThere are know loser, unknown losers, and then there are insignificant but noisy losers… Hard as it maybe when you ignore those loser noises you eventually stop hearing them…
June 7th, 2009 at 7:11 pmit fun to play troll little while but hard to act so stoopid so long it maks my brane hirt reel bad.
Impossible for a person of higher intellect to masquerade as a troll for long, but it’s also fun in a juvenile poking fun at the slow kid kind of way. Very easy to go to your profile, add a new nickname and change your identity for a moment. I’d imagine that it would be an effective way to rid ourselves of a troll infestation, especially on weekends when ‘report abuse’ has no one on the receiving end.
Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.

Yikes. I went out in the yard, ran the dogs, went to the bank, deposited a check and had an ice cream and decided to check in on TP and lo and behold, that whining noise is still there.
That is one squeaky bearing with no life whatsoever. Sometimes you gotta just pity engine parts.

Same troll that really needs to GO!!!
June 7th, 2009 at 7:19 pmGo Libby doesn’t make ‘sence’ and didn’t own anyone with that delusional idle chatter. This is probably the most attention it’s ever received in life. Go Libby gets ignored on neocon blogs so it comes to TP thinking it’s doing something great to distract us. Just like the GOP – you wingnuts have no power! HAHAHA!
June 7th, 2009 at 7:22 pmI think I know who Go Liberty and his little buddy are.
Here’s a link to their “rap video”.
Be forewarned, it’s disturbing.

Weekends are tough here at TP because there are few threads and too much off topic arguing. Case in point, last night’s thread. When I find myself perceiving backup as the sane one in the debate…

June 7th, 2009 at 7:27 pmThe “White House white again”?
What are you talking about?
I just drove by the other day and it was still painted white.
Perhaps you’re confusing it with the Old Executive Office Building? Which is gray.
June 7th, 2009 at 7:29 pmFunny.
Most doctors, psychologists and anthropologists would be quick to point out that those of “higher intellect” would be the last ones to “poke fun at the slow kid”.
That’s the behavior of the mediocre and below average crowd.
Higher intellect always equates to a higher level of empathy.
:|
Of course, you’d have to read books and stuff to know that.
June 7th, 2009 at 7:33 pmStill no new posts, the leftys must be DYING to get somebody to trash talk or make fun of because they don’t support their personal beliefs. Either that or they are all out smoking dope and having bi-sexual orgies.
Come on libs, can’t you find some recent hannity/Steele/ Limbaugh material to twist and turn to your liking?
June 7th, 2009 at 7:53 pmSomeone putting up a “Global Warming is Baloney” sign is equivalent to their putting up a sign proclaiming “Death to America” or “Death to the World”…or at least, death to the United States and the World that we know today.
But then this does seem to be a recurring theme of conservatives in general and Republicans in particular (although conservative Democrats share this same attitude, this Death Wish).
For instance, certain economic safeguards were put in place after the Great Depression to avert another financial catastrophe like that from happening again, certain economic safeguards that conservatives wanted to “kill” since their inception, with the “killing” of Glass-Steagal being the top trophy “kill.” But Glass-Steagal was just one of many Depression Era regulations that conservatives wanted to “kill.” Consumer Protection Laws…”kill.” Mortgage Protections…”kill.”
DLC conservatives in the second Clinton administration, as they looked forward to leaving the White House and finding a job on Wall Street, worked with the conservative Republicans running Congress, and “killed” Glass-Steagal, as well as other Depression Era regulations…with the Bush administration completing the “killing” process…and now the Obama administration is trying to clean up all the mess created by this regulation “killing” frenzy.
Why does this all sound so familiar, especially where Global Warming is concerned?
“Killing” environmental regulations. Delaying the implementation of environmental regulations. And lying, lying, lying, trying every trick possible to slow-walk any response to Global Warming…until it is too late, in my opinion, until one too many tipping points has been reached and surpassed, until our oncoming conservative-generated economic meltdown morphs into a worldwide Global Warming meltdown…which is why I say these conservatives have a Death Wish, no matter how much they shout that they are pro-life. Facts prove otherwise.
June 7th, 2009 at 7:56 pmGlobal Warming, Global Cooling, or Climate Change? Please someone tell me I’m confused. I’m a dumb conservative and need help since I’m going to my liberal friend’s house tonight and I don’t want to offend the political correct.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:02 pmTim, just tell them you are a conservative. They will understand.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:06 pmGlobal warming is by no means accepted as reality by the majority of scientists, as there are many who disagree with this theory and have said so.
Its just another way for the current administration to take money out of the private sector and transfer it to the public sector, as we all know government knows what’s best for us.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:09 pmYou just asked a question and answered a question.

June 7th, 2009 at 8:23 pmCan I trouble you to share your definition of “majority” and then show that your “many” who disagree exceeds the number who don’t agree. See that is the way a majority is determined.
Thanks
keep rolling
June 7th, 2009 at 8:24 pmcan I also trouble you to bemove the word “don’t”
June 7th, 2009 at 8:24 pmthanks-
Why are they so uptight about sexuality?
June 7th, 2009 at 8:26 pmright wingers love to show off their ignorance
June 7th, 2009 at 8:26 pmActually, good advice. I’ll give it a try and see if it will keep me out of the discussion. Last time I tried to get a discussion going on football. Didn’t go well with my wife’s dinner crowd. Well that’s what I get for marrying a college prof.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:27 pmTim I have some advice, don’t go to your liberal friends house. Cut off all relations to liberals, they are not our friends. These people would send you to the gas chambers if they could get away with it. Liberals are dangerous. I am not friends with any. If one talks to me I will simply act nice and be very direct, but I will not befriend them.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:35 pmYea really.
Those dumb ole College professors…all they want to do is talk about intellectual crap like science, history and physics,.. instead of recounting over and over all the different ways someone can run down a field with a little ball in their hands without getting knocked down.
:|
Go figger.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:35 pmdbadass
Last year a report in the Senate included 650 scientists who formally disagreed with the 50 or so who were involved in writing a report on global warming – this report was relied upon by the EPA when determining that CO2 emissions as well as a few others should be regulated.
There is NOT a consensus on global warming, not even close.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:38 pmTim how could you marry a liberal?
June 7th, 2009 at 8:41 pmRomartin16985:
June 7th, 2009 at 8:41 pmWe both know that this is a weak effort but I respect your subtle shift from the use of the word majority to the use of the word consensus. At least the later is defensible. The former was just idiotic…
And so we see the advantages of not talking with those boring college professors and instead focusing on things like the never ending mundane football statistics.
Because then we get to fabricate things like “liberals” would “send you to the gas chambers”, instead of realizing that it was the Nazi’s who sent the people to the gas chambers. You remember the Nazi’s, right? They were the far right conservatives who were anti-Semites, Anti-Communism and Anti Liberal both economically and politically.
Not to mention that the majority of the governors in this country who send people to the gas chamber, are conservatives.
:|
Ahh to be a conservative in sprintime, …and not be weighted down with things like facts, truth or reality.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:43 pmWaynebro, you have to forgive us dumb conservatives. Sorry we don’t like talking about hollywood, American idol, the latest celeb news, who came out of the closet that week, and other forms of such sophistication at our dinner tables.

June 7th, 2009 at 8:45 pmAnd as has been revealed publicly for some time now, everyone of those “scientists” were either funded by big oil or had direct ties to big oil and energy.
And MOST of them held their degrees in areas OTHER than climatology and were NOT actively involved in the research of global warming.
:|
But feel free to start producing names of these “scientists”, and I’ll feel free to produce their ties to global warming and or lack of accreditation in the field.

Well if you think those things comprise the study of science, history and physics, then that explains a lot.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:50 pmdbadass
I’m not shifting anything, consensus means pretty much the same thing!
You just don’t want to acknowledge any information that contradicts your liberal belief’s, as usual. Stop bothering me with your requests, why don’t you do a little research of your own.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:52 pmright wingers fight so hard to maintain their ignorance

June 7th, 2009 at 8:55 pmAnd you don’t want to acknowledge the fact that your “scientists” aren’t experts in global warming, and or are propped up by big oil.
Why don’t you try doing a little research, before spouting nonsense that has already been refuted by NASA?

June 7th, 2009 at 8:57 pmThe answer to whether or not these franchises can put up controversial signs should be in the contract. If they aren’t in compliance BK should sue them.
If it was BK international that was defending this signage, I would understand why it would be a story. But a small group that owns a few franchises? Who cares.
Regardless of how it plays out, it does not make any sense to me why the owner of a franchise would want to put up divisive signage that could potentially alienate customers. Leave the politics at ThinkProgress:

See the thing is there is significant consensus which is why the US military, the UN, NASA, the insurance industry, House and Senate committees, and numerous other entities disagree with you and are concerned about this topic. Why correct me if I am wrong but even the Bush administration eventually acknowledged the potential threat posed by climate disruption. It is a big world you can always find a minority who disagree with the majority.
I’M SUGGESTING AN EXPERIMENT WITH A NEW METHOD FOR TROLL HANDLING. I DON’T RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL INFESTATIONS, BUT THIS THREAD IS AS GOOD A PLACE AS ANY FOR AN EXPERIMENT.
I CALL IT SHUN-A-TROLL. DON’T TALK TO IT. DON’T TALK ABOUT IT. DON’T READ IT.
THE INFESTATIONS HAVE BEEN PRETTY BAD LATELY. I TRUST THINGS WILL GET BETTER WHEN SCHOOL RECOMMENCES, BUT RIGHT NOW SOME REGULAR TPers ARE EXPRESSING DISGUST WITH THE OVERALL ENVIRONMENT.
MOCK-A-TROLL, PITY-A-TROLL, AND WHACK-A-TROLL ARE ALL VALID TROLL HANDLING TECHNIQUES, OF COURSE. BUT SHUNNING IS A SPECIAL CHALLENGE, AND THESE CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS ARE PARTICULARLY RIDICULOUS.
IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MUCH THEY POST. FLAG THEM WHEN THEY ARE OFF TOPIC, IF YOU LIKE. AND IGNORE THEM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND SOUL. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING DENIERS—STUFF OF GREAT CONSEQUENCE. TODAY’S TROLLS—NOT.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:58 pmwhy don’t you do a little research of your own.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:59 pm– Already ahead of you there big guy. See I hold numerous degrees in the sciences all of which reguired mucho research. What about you?
no need to shout, wiley
June 7th, 2009 at 9:00 pmYea, you suggested the same thing for the Holocaust.
Fortunately most people understand the best way to stand up to ignorance and evil, is to confront it.
Not bury your head in the sand and hope it will go away.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:00 pmThese BK restaurants will soon be under new ownership, and this McNelis guy and the simpletons he works for will be all over the news crying “We have the right to say whatever crazy BS we want, ‘cuz this is Ameica.” All the while they will gloss over the fact that in America one also has to abide by the legal contracts one signs. Can’t wait until BK sues these retards for damage to the corporate image and failure to abide by the franchise agreements – they’ll be the perfect whiners for just about any Fox show…

As much as it may be difficult to understand why someone doesn’t believe in what you believe, leaving it unaddressed, doesn’t change the belief.
Confrontation is an accelerator to changing minds. Regardless of whether it’s your mind or theirs.
Ignoring the difference is more like kicking the can down the road or punting.

I’ve got to go with Waynebro on the confrontation.
As much as it may be difficult to understand why someone doesn’t believe in what you believe, leaving it unaddressed, doesn’t change the belief.
Addressing it doesn’t help, either, especially if the other person is totally uninterested in learning anything that refutes their assumptions and beliefs. You can argue until you’re blue in the face with someone who is a fundamentalist Christian that the Earth is more than 6,000 years old but it’s an utter waste of energy.
People who deny (a) that global warming is a reality or (b) that human behavior is a factor in global warming keep trotting out the same reports, claiming that “scientists” don’t support the case (and claiming it’s all about “liberals” or Al Gore) — while either ignoring or not realizing that many of the “scientists” listed have since denied knowing anything about the “report” or have no connection at all to climatology. These are the people who keep thinking that “meteorologist” is the same as “climatologist.”
None of which really addresses the motivation of trolls hanging out on a liberal blog.

June 7th, 2009 at 9:16 pmWhy would a troll hang out at a liberal blog? They’re either ignorant enough to think they will be viewed as intelligent and turn liberals into Reich-wingers, or they’re just gluttons for punishment. Plus, I guess hanging out here is easier than being part of the solution…
June 7th, 2009 at 9:17 pmWriting in the report, Gen Zinni, a former commander of US Central Command, says: “It’s not hard to make the connection between climate change and instability, or climate change and terrorism.”
He adds: “We will pay for this one way or another. We will pay to reduce greenhouse gas emissions today, and we’ll have to take an economic hit of some kind.
“Or we will pay the price later in military terms. And that will involve human lives. There will be a human toll.”
June 7th, 2009 at 9:20 pmThe Moderate Squad Says:

I’m not going to read through all 585 previous posts before making this comment, so if someone else has said this, apologies in advance: John Coleman is a failed Chicago weatherman who was wrong so much that he was a failure, even by weatherman standards…He is locally “famous” for inventing the term “Thorms” meaning thunderstorms…That really caught on.
I dig the the name Moderate Squad, or should I say “Solid, JACKSON”
June 7th, 2009 at 9:26 pmgummitch. you’re right for the most part. If someone engages you and they are only interested in changing your mind, but not theirs; you will most likely only exhaust yourself.
(Although, I still think you should confront that person, if only to refute what they say, so it doesn’t stand unopposed).
Minds are, however, capable of change. I think the problem is, that most times the effort to change them requires too much patience or effort and doesn’t seem worth the trouble.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:26 pmRomartin16985
June 7th, 2009 at 9:29 pmWas it something I said? I’d ask obamawipe$ but obamawipe$ it isn’t worth the effort…
So whats the purpose of the blog then?
Why are you here? Why would anyone be here?
To discuss only those ideas which agree with our own?
I realize it is a challenging, painstaking process of confronting lies and falsehoods from the right, tit for tat, day in and day out, but the alternative is to give them strength, momentum and a degree of credence to the uninformed and or middle of the fence visitors who are not as up on these issues as is the average liberal or progressive blogger.
Burying ones head in the sand and pretending it’s not there, i.e. ignoring it, won’t make it go away. And it also won’t make it diminish in content or momentum.
All one has to do to see that is to look at the time periods in these threads where no one challenges the trolls. Their comments grow in number and severity until they are smacked down by the facts.
Those who refuse to confront lies and evil men ensure that lies and evil will grow in strength.
The only way to deal with it, is to confront it.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:29 pmThe best way to ensure a lie will grow, is to ignore it and hope it will go away.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:30 pmbackup Says:
Minds are, however, capable of change. I think the problem is, that most times the effort to change them requires too much patience or effort and doesn’t seem worth the trouble.
On this (as on many things) we differ. Some minds are capable of change, others never will change regardless of how evidence. There was, in fact, a study a few years ago that established that producing evidence that confounded beliefs actually ended up reinforcing those beliefs if they were important to the individual.
Some stubborn individuals can change, but only when faced with cataclysmic forces. And the people who are the most adamant about one view are the most closed-minded when they suddenly reverse entirely (like religious converts, or the neocons that were the most intolerant Far Left until their own conversions).
I know that you spend much of your time trying to claim some sort of middle ground, but I’ve rarely seen evidence that you have actually changed your mind about anything and, frankly, there are a great many people who aren’t even as flexible as you.
I do not limit this to the Right, trust me. I’ve come much closer to punching out some pompous vegetarian Leftie than you can imagine.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:33 pmAnd remember. It’s not about changing the minds of the mindless trolls who shill for their right wing masters in here.
As the name “mindless trolls” imply, they have no minds in which to change.
It’s about the thousands of visitors to these sites each and every day, who never comment, post or even log in. And if you look at the webstats some time, you’ll see they are ample.
People visit these sites every day without ever saying a word, and many of them are middle of the road, or uninformed on issues of the day (which is often why they visit).
If they see the arguments of the right, posted on a liberal blog without any counter argument, it is likely that many will assume there is no counter to the argument, and move on.
In the classroom, false arguments are confronted and discredited.
In the scientific laboratories, false theories and hypotheses are confronted and discredited.
And it should be no different here.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:36 pmAnd if you’re too lazy or tired of confronting the falsehoods of the right in these “open blogs”, then perhaps its time to start on of your own, or find one where the FREE exchange of ideas and debate, is discouraged.
Instead of encouraged, as it is here.

The best way to kill a blog, is to turn it into an echo chamber of like minded ideas.

June 7th, 2009 at 9:38 pmJesus Christ, I suggest an experiment for one thread with trolls who have not intention of debating, and the value of truth itself is the issue.
Whatever.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:40 pm“Freedom of Speech” pertains to government intervention.
If you sign a contract stating that, since you will be using a corporate identity to attract customers, you will abide by signage that is approved by the corporation, then you are setting yourself for a lawsuit by violating the contract, especially if the violation involves a politically controversial topic.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:49 pmTP needs a weekend plumber to clean up the troll shit clogging the threads. The current crop of troll turds are stinky too. Phew.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:49 pmgummitch. I’ll be honest with you. I haven’t changed much. But, here are some positions of mine that have changed or moderated in the past 3 years (obviously in part due to engaging this site).
- Waterboarding is torture.
- The detainees at Gitmo deserve a speedy trial. (we cannot hold them indefinitely).
- Veterans haven’t been served that well by Republicans.
- The war in Iraq was a mistake. (I still give the Bush administration the benefit of the doubt in many regards that others here won’t).
- Barack Obama is the ideal leader to help deal with Muslim animosity towards the U.S.
- The marketplace is not a perfect regulator. It benefits from some amount of regulation.
- Whether it was FDR’s New Deal or WWII, massive government spending most likely ended the Great Depression. (and that idea is relevant to today’s stimulus efforts)
I’m still not a huge Global Warming proponent, but my view has changed from relative opposition to supporting green initiatives that don’t have much marketplace consequence and working harder to understand the benefits of green initiatives regardless of whether they effect the climate.
I’m sure there are more. Some minds will change. But, I suggest they change very slowly.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:52 pmI will say this for b-cup: he does appear to be able to consider new perspectives.
How much of that appearance is real, I can’t say. And any increments of movement like he mentions are achieved with massive effort on the part of progressives. I still have serious issues with the way he debates, and he can get into troll mode, but he’s certainly in a different class than our buzzing little friends here today.
June 7th, 2009 at 10:00 pmJimmy Big Bucks I guess you are a scientist who studies the issue of global warming. Can you describe which discipline your expertise is in? I am interested because I would like you to back up your claim that we are in a cooling cycle. Please provide studies and the journal that they were published in. i am sure it will be a cold day in hell before you respond so maybe that is your cooling.
June 7th, 2009 at 10:01 pmFine backup is great… Now can obamawipe$ & Romartin16985 get back here? I am not finished yet
June 7th, 2009 at 10:04 pmDid wipey actually offer as evidence of his “position” a survey that found that over seven times as many peer-reviewed papers supported the theory as rejected it?
Of course he offered it without a link, that’s how wipey rolls. But he really thinks this disputes the theory?
Oh, wait — we’re talking about wipey here. Why would anyone take his comments seriously?

Oh, Bovine. If nobody cares to answer to your stupidity it is because, well, you are so stupid it is not even amusing after wiping the floor with you the second time.
June 7th, 2009 at 10:05 pmralph. I agree with this.
I also think that it is that kind of effort that is required to try to get someone to see what you see. (or see what they see).
Maybe it’s not worth it.
I’ve been wrong about a lot of things, but I have the belief that you can take most anyone (if you work hard enough) and either change their mind or have them change your mind.
Under the assumption that you will only cede old ideas for better ones, either way, I consider that success.
June 7th, 2009 at 10:11 pmimmy Big Bucks Says:

June 7th, 2009 at 10:15 pmO.K. You want a change a hundred minds, you are communicating with three hundred minds, which minds are you going to try to change? The ones who spend their time describing their strawmen as you and don’t stay on topic? The hecklers?
June 7th, 2009 at 10:15 pmOkay, let’s examine wipey’s evidence with a closer eye, shall we?
It appears that his source is James Inhofe’s blog.
It does indeed seem to suggest that there have only been 528 papers published on the question of climate change. Does this make sense to anybody? 528 papers represent ALL of the published research on climate change?
In 2004 another survey was done which tested the acceptance of the theory in peer-reviewed published work:
(This acceptance) was tested by analyzing 928 abstracts, published in refereed scientific journals between 1993 and 2003, and listed in the ISI database with the keywords “climate change” (9).
The 928 papers were divided into six categories: explicit endorsement of the consensus position, evaluation of impacts, mitigation proposals, methods, paleoclimate analysis, and rejection of the consensus position. Of all the papers, 75% fell into the first three categories, either explicitly or implicitly accepting the consensus view; 25% dealt with methods or paleoclimate, taking no position on current anthropogenic climate change. Remarkably, none of the papers disagreed with the consensus position.
A computer scientist named Tim Lambert writing at scienceblogs does an analysis of the study that wipey offers so casually.
He likens it to a similar effort directed at the 2004 study I noted, in which a skeptic originally claimed 34 papers rejecting the theory but under scrutiny eventually reduced his claim to a single paper.
Lambert finds a similar circumstance here, in which the seven that wipey found so compelling is reduced to three:
The three that do reject the consensus are Gerhard, which was published in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Bulletin; Shaviv arguing for cosmic rays, which doesn’t explain how they could make a difference over the past 50 years when the cosmic rayflux hasn’t changed over that period; and Zhen-Shan and Xian, which is just a rubbish paper that should not have been published.
The comments are interesting too.
wipey? Your response?
June 7th, 2009 at 10:21 pmb-cup, agreed. Change is not easy, and it’s doubly difficult when the issue at hand is one that carries a heavy emotional investment, as politics tends to be (and religion to an even greater degree).
June 7th, 2009 at 10:23 pmToo late ralph. That clown has already beat feet. I should have stalled em till you arrived. Sorry. Seems we can’t get a good Fuji/Tanaka thing working of late…
June 7th, 2009 at 10:25 pmwiley. If you preach to the choir, you’re not changing minds.
Trolls that are disruptive and annoying are basically the only ones that actively disagree with the premises.
Assuming that you don’t want to change the minds of those that agree with you, what do you have left? Trolls.
If you are effectively addressing the objections of trolls, you are effectively addressing the objections of Waynebro’s silent majority of fence sitters (around post # 564).
So, attempt to change the minds of the trolls. It probably won’t work. But, in the process, the appearance of high minded liberals engaging trollish objectors, will more effectively sway the silent moderate observers.

You are wasting your time.
Jeffy Bovine (habib = olby sucks = archie, etc.) is well known for lifting talking points from other sources and never giving credit or links to where he lifted them. Much less defending his own stupidity.
The minute you shove facts down his trap, he will try to switch to another distraction, usually it involves Fox ratings or Keith Olbermann. Just watch him.
June 7th, 2009 at 10:34 pmI know, johnny dol1ar, I know.
But wipey’s drivel is so laughably easy to debunk, I figure it’s just good exercise. Plus I learn a thing or two doing research.
June 7th, 2009 at 11:22 pmBurger King can bluster all they want about what they can tell the franchisee to do, but we have free-speech rights in this country so I don’t think there’s any concerns.”
The First amendment isn’t a contract between MIC and Burger King. I’m pretty sure the contract between MIC and BK allows BK to yank MIC’s franchise rights if they’re going to be total asshats about something that has nothing to do with selling burgers.
.
backup Says:
Regardless of how it plays out, it does not make any sense to me why the owner of a franchise would want to put up divisive signage that could potentially alienate customers.
Because Republicans are almost as good at running businesses as they are at history, the law, economics and math.
.
wiley Says:
I CALL IT SHUN-A-TROLL. DON’T TALK TO IT. DON’T TALK ABOUT IT. DON’T READ IT.
This is only appropriate for troll-posts that are off topic. If they’re addressing the issue, then their BS should be countered. How did shunning the media trolls work for Kerry? Gore? Dukakis?
The reason we’re winning now is because we’ve actually gotten up our “spineless” Dem asses and started fighting back. I’m not going to go back to the “we’re too good to talk about that” crap that just amounted to rolling over and conceding every debate, no matter how stupid, no matter how easy it would have been to win it.

Yeah, I thought you might pounce on that… problem is, wipey… this computer scientist didn’t analyze the climate data for the validity of its conclusions.
He analyzed the contents of the reports for statistical representation. His status as a computer scientist is a pretty good qualification for this task. You made the claim that “Less Than Half of all Published Scientists Endorse Global Warming Theory”. That’s a statistical claim, not a climatalogical one.(I know you probably don’t understand the difference, but intelligent people do.)
But it’s good to know that you recognize that when analyzing actual climatological data, computer scientists (or economists or social scientists or biologists…) really don’t carry a lot of weight.
Shall we examine again the list of scientists (and their degrees) who signed the petition you guys always trumpet?
June 8th, 2009 at 9:34 amJesus, what an idiot.
June 8th, 2009 at 11:26 amI’m just a lowly construction worker and she is a PHD. But, somehow between our voting differences we have managed to raise 4 daughters and 1 son. Perhaps it is because I attend her events and she goes to football games with me. We both agree that we need to insure a clean environment for our children. I’m not convinced carbon dioxide is a pollutant and I don’t believe that we can change the climate. But I am confused why this debate is so brutal? Our country needs a long term energy strategy and one that makes us more dependent on American resources and less foreign dependence. It is apparent our politicians can’t get a grip to solve these problems as they are locked in biased party debate. Perhaps the rule should be that only liberals and conservatives should marry each other?
June 8th, 2009 at 12:10 pmI don’t know you or your positions, but if you are a conservative who is capable of discussing issues reasonably, I welcome you to the community. We desperately need some.
A couple of thoughts: carbon dioxide is clearly NOT a pollutant. The tactic of allowing it to be regulated as one is a political maneuver and may be a valuable one.
Also, we already DO the change the climate. Ever hear of “urban heat islands”? Human development of high-density cities with a heavy concentration of industrial output, energy use, human activity and vehicle emissions is well known to raise the surrounding temperature measurably. This is a small-scale impact on the climate, and if one considers the Butterfly Effect, the ability of man’s activities to affect the climate on a larger scale should be clear. The path from that point is less clear, but your belief that we can’t change the climate is clearly mistaken.
June 8th, 2009 at 12:46 pmActually, Global Warming is beef. and chicken & pork & turkey. That’s what is more to blame than the auto industry, the consumption of animals. But mostly Human Overpopulation is the root cause of our environmental problems. Our population is the #1 cause of species going extinct at record rates. Enough about global warming. It’s like talking about the fever you have from contracting H.I.V. Human overpopulation is the cause.
