I’m not normally one to hurl invective, however, waynebro has been, on this thread at least, in my perception, a “dick”.

Which amounts to you not knowing that much about WWII, yet you mock me and challenge my understanding of a war I’ve spent over 40 years studying from every aspect, right down to the minutia of depth of the armor skirting on the sides of a Mark IV Panzerkampfwagen or the actual role of the SS Einsatzgruppen as opposed to their official capacities. I even speak German and can recite the words to “Horst Wessel Lied” from memory in the original German (not something I’m all too proud of). I know this war. My family knows this war. We grew up in a WWII home, and I was born just over a decade after the end of the war. Its not something I’m ignorant on, or need lectures from someone who thinks 200 million people died in it. But worse, you act like it was I who attacked you wiley. But if you remember correctly, I was in the thread about gitmo, and I made ONE comment, not to you I might add, just a general comment about the similarity of the photograph of the kneeling prisoners to some of the images President Obama saw earlier on his visit to Buchenwald. And you couldn’t stand it.

You chose to attack me. It was the anniversary of D-Day and earlier that day President Obama had visited Buchenwald and admonished us to not cease the dialogue on the Holocaust. It was the first time in history a US President ever visited Buchenwald, much less made such a speech there.

So I made one comment about it. This was that comment.

That comment is unacceptable on every level.

To say with regards to Buchenwald, “In every single war there are prison camps” is so far from acceptable from someone claiming to be progressive, or anyone for that matter except perhaps a neo nazi, as to be off the charts.

I was serious when I suggested you go over to the Jewish blogosphere and post that one and the others. See what they think about it.

It is downplaying the holocaust and the nature of the death camps to a level as to indicate pure apathy and downright ignorance of the events. The latter being more likely (and more forgiving) than the former, being your numbers as to the death toll in WWII.

Second, because it was uncalled for. I did nothing to merit your attack. You chose to be the antagonist (and now play the victim) and you came at me for no reason, other than what can only be called spite. And doing so means I have to respond if I want to correct your accusations which only brings on “the idiot squad”, a small group of bloggers here (among which “Pete” is always present) who take sport in attacking me as a group and who play endless word games with me and then accuse me of being the problem. So then they see me arguing with you, and use that as cheap leverage to try to further slander me. As if their comments were somehow not included in the “hijacking the thread” thing they always accuse me of.

So forgive me if I don’t roll over and accept your revisionist history of either the holocaust, WWII or your downright apathetic and disrespectful comments about the holocaust, nor your demands for me to stop talking about it.

I have several close uncles, most of whom are dead now, who fought in WWII, in the Philippines during the “Clean Up” operations, at Bastogne in an artillery division during the “Battle of the Bulge” and on the beaches of Normandy, France, during Operation Overlord (D-Day), which that day you attacked me on demanding I stop speaking about the Holocaust was the anniversary of.

And even after all that, I was still willing to ignore it and you today, but you chose once more to throw your two cents worth in to the middle of a debate I was having that didn’t concern you, and where I’d said nothing to you, “piling on” with the rest of those who I now deem “the moron brigade” to try and take another shot at me, claiming you never argue more than 15 minutes, even though you spent two days arguing with me over the Holocaust and my comments on it.

I’m willing to live and let live and always proceed from that assumption. But a few of you, including you, seem to think it’s ok to take a shot at me, and yet if I respond then you label me as the instigator.

Responding to someones cheap shot is not “instigating”.

Taking the cheap shot is instigating.

Responding is responding. Do I sometimes over respond? Sure.

But usually I’m responding to several of you, the usual suspects as it were, which is difficult when they are rapid fire round robin tag teaming me and trying to make it look like I’m upset or angry, rather than merely responding to multiple unprovoked “cheap shots”.

Anyway I’m perfectly willing to let it go, again.

Next time you see me in a debate, resist the urge to fire your cheap shots, and add your two cents worth, that is if you don’t like my responses.
