They’re just two more speedbumps to drive over. This is obstruction at the highest level.
They should be fired for even proposing such a thing.
They’re trying to prevent violence alright, violence against those who approved and committed the acts both on the street and in jail.
I also do not agree with the concept that the CIA and/or interrogators should not be held accountable. Holding them accountable IMHO is the first step in holding those who approved it and set it in motion accountable.
As near as I can tell, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

You miss the point. The point is to hide/destroy the evidence so that these people won’t be prosecuted. Hell, already, some three dozen or so people have died in custody, and not a single conviction of murder, despite a fair number of these deaths being ruled homicides.
