McConnell ‘really enjoyed’ Voight’s speech that claimed Obama might allow ‘a new Holocaust.’

In a speech at the Republican Senate-House fundraising dinner last night, actor Jon Voight criticized President Obama at length, calling him a “false prophet” who causing “oppression” in America. But Voight saved his harshest attack on Obama for issues relating to Israel’s security. After claiming that the “only agenda” of all the Palestinian people is “to wipe Israel off the Earth,” Voight complained about Obama’s approach to Iran. “Are we supposed to be sitting and waiting, watching for the possibility of a new Holocaust?” Watch it:

According to Bloomberg’s Heidi Przybyla, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took the stage after Voight and offered praise for the speech. “I really enjoyed that,” said McConnell.

Transcript:

VOIGHT: My most pressing concern at this hour is the safety of Israel. I think Obama has no idea that Israel was built on the blood and sweat of the Jewish people. Every blade of grass, every tree, has been a successful effort because the Jewish people understanding they would have a safe homeland forever. He could not possibly understand this or he would know that the Jewish people are tried time and time again to give the Palestinians land and bring a peaceful solution. But every attempt, every attempt, was returned with violence. The Palestinians used Gaza to attack Israel. As far as I’m concerned, their only agenda is to wipe Israel off the Earth. And he reprimands the Israeli people, Obama. Like he’s a professor and they’re the school children. I was embarrassed to watch his press conference with the great war hero, Benjamin Netanyahu, who has helped keep his country safe for many years. Obama sat there with complete arrogance that he is the new American power, that he is able to dictate what he thinks is best for Israel. So how worried are we supposed to be now? Was I hearing things when he said that Iran might have the right to nuclear power? Are we supposed to be sitting and waiting, watching for the possibility of a new Holocaust? Who’s going to take the responsibility to keep Ameri — Israel safe?

I’ll tell you why this really scares the hell out of me. Because everything Obama has recommended has turned out to be disasterous. His so-called stimulus package and his budgets will leave our grandchildren with great burdens and great debts. The government is now owning car companies and banks and we’re losing job after job. Our unemployment rate is an astronomic 9.4. And of course they send out Joe Biden, one of the great double-talkers of our time, to tell us the unemployment rate is getting better. The government wants to run health care and tell people what doctors they can see. How much they can make. What cars to drive. And they’re killing off the entrepreneurs who are the backbone of our economy. It’s no wonder that the Russian newspaper Pravda, the former house organ for the former Soviet Communist regime, has said the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath-taking speed. We can blame Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, George Soros, David Axelrod and their ilk for the downfall of this country. It saddens me greatly to think we were the great power for good in the world. We as Americans knew America to be strong. And we were the liberators of the entire world. We are becoming a weak nation. Obama really thinks that he is a soft-spoken Julius Ceaser. He thinks he’s going to conquer the world with his soft-spoken sweet talk. And really thinks he’s going to bring all the enemies of the world into a little playground where they’ll swing each other back and forth. We and we alone are the right frame of mind to free this nation from this Obama oppression.

And let’s give thanks to all the great people like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, William Bennett, Glenn Beck, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Dennis Miller, Dick Morris, Ann Coulter, John Kasich, Michael Steele, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Thomas Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson, Shelby Steele, Charles Krauthammer, Michelle Malkin, Fred Barnes and so many others. Let’s give thanks to them for not giving up and staying the course to bring an end to this false prophet Obama.

No wonder Angelina doesn’t speak to this man.

His only claim to fame should be that Costanza bought a car the didn’t belong to him.

Katrina was our Holocaust and still is. There are still thousands of people displaced by our Gov.inaction during the worse natural disaster in years.

Then there are many who consider our Prison System to be a ongoing holocaust of sorts when one considers we imprison more people than any country in the World and hold them for longer terms to boot.

This Bush Bailout needs to be framed in just that way. Bush started the bailout by punting the issue, Cheney admitted as much recently.

  36. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

    Opression???

    False prophet???

Wow, Jonny, where have you been the last 8 years? They were the most oppressive as we saw more of our freedom and privacy taken away with laws passed in the guise of security.

We saw a media that fell in line with the Bush regime, repeating the lies, while never questioning anything.

We saw a government capitalize and prey on America’s fear and sorrow after 9/11 to take us to war, pass draconian laws, use torture, spy on us, open our mail, arrest dissenters and protestors, demonize those who publicly opposed the Bush regime policies.

False Prophet? I’ve never heard President Obama claim to be the Messiah, the chosen one, you know the blasphemous things the religious right call him.

I don’t think President Obama uses his religion as a crutch to get millions of gullible people to follow him as the real false prophets like Hagee, Robertson, Osteen and the late Jerry Falwell have done. I’ve never heard President Obama claim that God talked to him and told him to go to war with Iraq.

“Amazing how the GOP doesn’t fawn over actors…”

I don’t have a link, but this morning someone at work forwarded me “Ben Stein’s Last Column”, entitled “How Can Anyone Who Lives In Insane Luxury Be A Star in Today’s World?” Apparently Ben has been hanging out writing a column at some restaurant for movie stars, and is finally realizing “I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important.” Well, freakin’ DUH, Ben. While, to his credit, he goes on to say that the real American ’stars’ are the troops, firefighters and police, teachers and nurses, etc., WTF took him so damned long to realize this?

What Ben Stein doesn’t realize, of course, that it’s not just Hollywood stars who live in luxury and are idolized and think that they’re ‘terribly important’, it’s also the entrenched political ruling classes and the Fortune500 CEOs. I wonder how long it’ll take him to figure that out?

Libs don’t come to the right wing sites I visit, they are too scared of debate. They stick to liberal blogs where nobody disagrees with their rhetoric.

  103. Jim Wolf359 says:

The truth doesn’t frighten us Jimmy Boy. Just the idea that someone with your IQ and ignorance of the world might someday be in charge.
Oh…Wait. We already went that route with Dumbya. My Bad.

  104. soze16 says:

  117. Xisithrus says:

    Malkin disabled registration

O’Reilly does about the same as freepers

The truth is they dont want to debate.

But put up your ’sites’ Jimmy, and you will see that they wont debate, but delete.

  118. Xisithrus says:

Wizbang and Takimag [Taki stopped allowing comments] not sure Wizbang is around anymore, were a few conservative blogs that would not delete and actually debate people of differing views.

  119. SpoxLogic says:

So, let me get this straight. Pres. Obama is going to cause another holocaust wherein Iran will traispe across Iraq, thru Syria and into Israel. Once there, they will gather up all the Jews, and make the return journey across Syria and Iraq. Once back in Iran, they will then intern all those people in concentration camps. Then they will proceed to gas them on a daily basis.

Is that how Mr Voight is seeing it?

  120. ElBruce says:

Interesting – the wingnut thing used to be that say, Hamas or Hezbollah were the bad guys. Now it’s the entire “Palestinian people” who are ebil.

If an entire populace is your enemy – if you actually believe that – then you must be advocating the destruction or total subjugation of that entire populace.

They’re crossing an important line here, between demonizing specific organizations within a populace and demonizing entire populaces.

This is precisely how genocide starts.

  121. ElBruce says:

    Jimmy Big Bucks Says:

Israel deservers our support 100%. If that includes nuking Iran and killing every single person their, then so be it.

I used to be active on a political bulletin board that was attached to a non-political site. The “moderators” and most of the participants ranged from Far Right to Brownshirts. A very small minority were liberal to Left and were regularly piled on by the others. I was “cautioned” more than once when a moderator thought I’d personally attacked one of his buddies, although the Righties in the group consistently resorted to personal attacks and were virtually never chastised for it.

I gave up on them in 2007, even though I was tempted to lurk around the time of the 2008 election. I so much wanted to see their heads exploding over Obama’s victory, but I also knew that I wouldn’t be able to refrain from responding. Best just to leave little nests of wingnuts alone.

Like Bruce Wills, who said public that Bush was doing a great job and that the US would ‘win’ in Iraq, Jon Voight just showed to everyone what a kind of SCUM he really is!
As per Obama, he already warranted legitimate criticism for escalating the War in Afghanistan and Pakistan, by having Bagram prison off the limits of any legal system, by not disclosing the photos of US detainee abuses, by surrounding himself with neocons and clintonites, by re-branding the Iraq occupation and by dragging his feet about the PROSECUTION of America’s WAR CRIMINALS.

  138. joe cantwell says:

I am sort of curious why they deserver our support 100%….

That’s something I have never understood. People talk about how Israel is the best best friend to America. My question is, what have they ever done for us? As far as I can tell the answer is nothing. And yet we give them millions of dollars every year which they use to buy weapons to use to kill Palestinians. I hate it that my tax dollars are going to the murder machine in Israel.

So, perhaps one of our resident trolls can tell us why we should support Israel 100%. What have they ever done for us to deserve that kind of support?

You are a liar. I have been banned several times for nothing more than expressing a view that does not toe their party line. Same thing happens at Redstate.com. I haven’t found one right wing blog site that allows progressives to post. If there is one, perhaps the trolls can tell us where it is.

Besides Bush has what? over 100,000 deaths and countless injuries to his name. Looks like they’re calling out the wrong man.

  160. ElBruce says:

You ever think “if I was there when Hitler started talking that smack, maybe I could have done something to stop him?” Voight is being Hitler here. This is the same kind of talk. It always leads the same place as long as good people let him get away with it.

  164. Badger says:

Over the last five years, senior Iranian officials at every level have repeatedly asserted that they do not intend to build nuclear weapons. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has quoted the regime’s founding father, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who asserted that such weapons were “un-Islamic.” The country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a fatwa in 2004 describing the use of nuclear weapons as immoral. In a subsequent sermon, he declared that “developing, producing or stockpiling nuclear weapons is FORBIDDEN under Islam.” Last year Khamenei reiterated all these points after meeting with the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei.

Now, of course, they could all be lying. But it seems odd for a regime that derives its legitimacy from its fidelity to Islam to declare constantly that these weapons are un-Islamic if it intends to develop them. It would be far shrewder to stop reminding people of Khomeini’s statements and stop issuing new fatwas against nukes.

  165. pseverinc says:

“False prophet” is found in one of those passages from the Bible that is never quoted by politicians… It’s in what my jewish friend David calls the terms and conditions of the contract for believers. It says roughly that there shall come before you false prophets who will speak of miraculous things…and some of the things will come true…but you must realize they are false and not only must you not follow them but you obligated to kill them. It’s that direct. It’s that harsh.

Let us hope Voight’s words were not intended as a reference to this somewhat obscure passage. Had I not been sitting at a synagogue when David’s son had to read the passage, I’d have never heard of it either.

  166. stewarjt says:

Hey! Jon Voight’s talkin’ over here!

  167. vlmusicalsound says:

Jon Voight is the best the GOP can do.

  168. cmac says:

I think this is sad. Jon Voight was a wonderful actor – remember him in Midnight Cowboy? And in Runaway Train? It’s a shame to see him embarrass himself this way. It really hurts his public image, and since he’s no kind of expert at anything but acting, it doesn’t do his ’cause’ any good either. He’s just squandering the respect people used to have for him before he opened his mouth and demonstrated that he was delusional or stupid or both.

  169. Jane E. Schneider says:

“Who’d have quessed the Jimmy Big Bucks is really Nelson Munz…”

    HA ha!

  170. wiley says:

Jon Voight visits Israel and is a dedicated Zionist. Many Jews who had previously supported Israel rain or shine, were disgusted enough by the latest massacre in Ghaza to say WHOA! Of course, Jewish peace advocates and refuseniks are still very active in Israel. The American Zionists are ratcheting up the language, as true believers do when people in their own group start questioning.

Israel launching a preventive attack on Iran by their lonesome is so ridiculous that I have to wonder if Israel is managing to extort money from U.S. by not attacking Iran (and talking as if they would actually do it).

  171. barfly says:

From C&L, regarding the decision to muzzle Palin:

Palin’s appearance Monday night was the latest twist in an unusual public flap between a potential 2012 presidential candidate and the Republican congressional leaders who run the party’s fundraising committees. In March, organizers replaced Palin as the keynote speaker with Gingrich after she wavered over accepting the invitation.

Republican officials involved in the discussions, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said Palin was invited to sit at a head table but was told she would not be given a chance to speak for fear that she might overshadow Gingrich.

Newt: I’ll tape my manboobs up, borrow a dress from Rudi, and Moose Flop won’t know what hit her…

  172. kdgamergirl says:

Anyone else besides me think Reagan is probably rolling over in his grave over what this sorry excuse for a party is doing now?

“disasterous”? Julius “Caeser”? Watch out the transcript spelling, friend.

  174. wiley says:

I was never impressed with Reagan, but I have to wonder if his pharaoh’s funeral accomplished anything. Wing-nuts are carrying on about the fifth anniversary of his death as if they’re expecting him to do something.

  175. republicanSScareme says:

It’s too bad Jon Voight is proving himself to be an idiot under the control of the Zionists.

    JaneaneTheAcerbicGoblin Says:

Actors/actresses should stay out of politics. They just end up embarrassing themselves, like Voight did here (and he’s a damn fine actor).

Not necessarily. Some of them are pretty smart. Some of them are pretty dumb. Just because someone’s famous, yes, they’ll get more of a platform than otherwise. But what actually comes out of their mouth when they open it may be intelligent or insane, or anywhere in between. I think the lesson to take is to make no assumptions, and judge each proposition on its own merits regardless of who presents it.

  179. Intrepid says:

  180. delafield says:

It’s been at least six months since Israel went on a killing spree through the Palestinian refugee camps. It sounds as though John Voight, the Republicans, and Israel are getting thirsty once again for the blood of defenseless Palestinian men, women, children, and babies.

  181. sissy says:

John needs some serious help This is a guy without both oars in the water. No wonder his daughter is estranged from him. He belongs in the Republican Party.

  182. captainstormfield says:

Jon Voight must have slipped a gear. I’d say its time to boycott any production he appears in. Too bad we can’t boycott that Moron McConnell too.
