bltblt, this is addressed to you too. Since you are pro-life, you cannot help but to support health care FOR ALL regardless and the various CHIPs out there...

JohnM says:
I never said that they should be killed, which is the equivalent here, not enhanced interrogation. I am pro life, which is why I want to protect innocent people from terrorists and if that means enhnanced interrogation to save those people it is worth it. That is very much pro-life.

You on the other hand would rather protect a terrorist's rights than protect a completely innocent baby and that is the true hypocrisy.

JohnM, I commend you for calling yourself pro-life. Our infant mortality rate is high and many children in our country do not have access to health care and how many of them die in early childhood due to inadequate health care? The logical extension of your pro-life stance is to call for universal health care for all. I mean who among those kids could have been the one to find a cure for cancer, to discover the largest prime number, to invent something that could change our lives for the better?

Op Rescue if in fact are interested in the Tiller clinic can only be viewing it as a trophy for one of their flock murdering someone they hated and expect many of their enabling violence followers to support more of the same in the future through donations.

If they wanted to kill so badly, why didn't they volunteer for Iraq? Join Blackwater ? Plenty of killing they couldhave done in the name of their false God.

Physics displays for every action there is a reaction.

What does these people think the reaction will be?

Let us hope that the reactions are civil, reasoned and not " twenty eyes for an eye".

bitblt Says:

How may TPers think this depiction in Genesis of the first person getting his soul from God is, in fact, an accurate description of how it occurred?

Not me. If God created anything, he created the statistical mathematics and quantum fluctuations that led to humans evolving with the capacity to form complicated neural networks from their experiential environment, which we subjectively experience as our mental life - i.e. a "soul."

.

Believe there was a former abortion clinic down in Chattanooga, and the clinic had been made into some sort of memorial to all the pre-born who had been aborted there.

Seems there was a need in many of the almost mothers to memorialized their pre-born children.

I bet you anything 100% of the people going there are anti-abortion crusaders, with 0% being any of the "almost-mothers" involved. I don't think they really had a need for a bunch of fundies to shove a private and difficult moment of their lives back in their face every day.

This strikes bit as sad beyond belief.

Me too. But not in the same way.

Right up there with "it is written," these days huh? Cite or STFU.

Having something as medically and psychologically difficult as a late term abortion just for birth control is so insane it could only exist in an alternative fantasy universe. That's like chopping your hand off for getting a hangnail.

It is truly a sad occasion. Women - and girls! - who are in desperate need of medical intervention at the last moment will be left with no option.
The zealots seem to think women stroll past a clinic and decide that this is a good day to have an abortion. How demeaning, insulting and cold. Abortion is an agonizing, wretched choice, filled with anguish and sorrow. Those that must occur in the final trimester are sometimes the most distressing of all -- in that critical time, something gravely threatening developed in utero or in the pregnancy and urgent, drastic medical means must be applie-- but the zealots have won this battle -- a legal clinic is closed, one less doctor who will aid those women and girls who find themselves in horrible circumstances.

Wouldn't it be of some comfort, if the zealots would advocate for pre-natal care, neo-natal care, well-baby care and other necessary services? Instead, they just say NO, wave their placards, incite lunatics to murder, and walk away, feeling smug and sanctimonious and self-righteous.

June 10th, 2009 at 1:15 pm

You are aware, are you not, that it is reported that Abortionist Tiller stated that he had performed 60,000 abortions, and 10,000 of these abortions were late term abortions. Again according to Abortionist Tiller only 800 of these 10,000 abortions were done because there was something “wrong” with the pre-born child. The something “wrong” included pre-born twins and pre-born with cleft palates.

That’s eight percent of these pre-born with a “physical” problem.

Ninety-three percent of the abortions are done for birth control.

The zealots are advocating for responsibility.

Oh, they would DEFINITELY make it into some sort of shrine, or pilgrimage site, probably with some sort of a museum and a "prayer chapel" where they could hold "Christian" worship services celebrating the Tiller murder.

Twisted. Exactly why I no longer go to church anymore.

The Bible says you're imbued with a soul when you draw your first breath, and not before.

If this is what you think the Bible says, bit is sure that’ll you’ll be gracious enough to post the book, chapter, and verse where the Bible says what you claim.

While your claim is not contrary to what the Bible says, as bit understands it, bit thinks the verse to which you refer actually says something different.

Bit thinks you’re referring to what Genesis says about the first man.

Genesis says that God breathed into the first man and the man became a living soul, and of course, the word soul is associated with breathing.

Genesis 2

[7] then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

bit believes this is verse to which you refer. Bit would appreciate any correction.

Since every living human came from this first man, it’s just as accurate to say that God put the breath of life – the soul – in every human. He did this by inviting people to participate in act of creation ( Genesis 1:28 “…be fruitful and multiply…”) One gets the gift of life from the Creator, and one gets the privilege, and responsibility, of passing this gift from the Creator to new generations.

If one rejects this “privilege and responsibility” by aborting their pre-born offspring, it seems to bit that the message to the Creator is this “Life is not an important gift which I appreciate; therefore, I choose death.”

How may TPers think this depiction in Genesis of the first person getting his soul from God is, in fact, an accurate description of how it occurred?

The Bible does have other things to say about pre-born humans.

Psalm 139

13] For thou didst form my inward parts,
thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb.
[14] I praise thee, for thou art fearful and wonderful.
Wonderful are thy works!
Thou knowest me right well;

I don't have television reception, but would wager that the MSM isn't covering the reasons why late-term abortion is such an important service. Why any journalistic organization would be content to let the wholly mythical stereotype of women deciding in their seventh or eighth month that they no longer want to have a baby ride roughshod over the sad truth, is beyond me. You'd think the MSM would be ashamed of themselves for not doing research that people who comment on blogs do as a matter of course.

Posting gross pictures doesn't change any of the facts of the matter. Fetuses are not babies. Legislating the contents of another person's internal organs is a violation of the Fourth Amendment.

If it's legal to legislate the insides of other peoples' bodies, then I could push to make it illegal to remove your appendix even if it burst, thus killing you. That might sound ridiculous to you, but maybe I'm going to start a pro-appendix religious movement and take over politics in your area. Anti-abortion legislation is the first step on a slippery slope to this sort of thing.

TP is not a news site, it's an opinion site. It posts items relevant to the political agenda of the CAP. This is not a secret. And there's nothing wrong with that.

If what TP did was passed off as journalism, then your complaints of uneven coverage might have some merit. But it is not, and therefore they do not.

The same is true of a fetal gopher, kitten or any animal. Thus, that proves nothing.

Ha Ha Ha Says:

Watch the Holocaust memorial shooter be a Muslim. What excuse will you leftists make for that?

If it were, we wouldn't excuse it, as we haven't excused the army recruiter shooting.

They would buy the clinic and use it as a memorial for the destruction of all clinics like it. They would use it as a place to teach more of such tactics that threaten and abuse a womans right to choose. They would use it to train other terrorists. And they would put pictures of Eric Rudolph and this latest man in the lobby as their heroes. What better place to do this, then the clinic this doctor founded. It would be to the fanatical right, their own kind of irony to have this clinic sight. That is why they want it.

The shooter today is a rabid KKK white supremacist.

Hate spewing radio hosts, columnists and TV bloviators will accept no responsibility for encouraging lunatics like this to terrorize the nation.

And the righties are feigning worry about people already in custody in Gitmo coming here for incarceration, when the righties have comrades like the shooter today threatening anyone in public.

These anti-choice people don't understand how difficult the choice is in the third trimester to have an abortion. These women feel the baby moving around inside and it must be heartbreaking to have to make a choice.

And yet they still choose to kill it. Yes, I am sure it is a heartbreaking choice to make to take another person's life.

JohnM, you spent an entire thread arguing that Muslim detainees have no legal protection against inhumane treatment.

You were parsing treaties and legal memos etc. in a vain attempt to assign them a status that was beneath human decency, ie sub-human, ie non-human.

My point is that if you were truly Pro-Life you would recognize that anyone in our custody is entitled fair and humane treatment. Even Muslims suspected of being terrorists.

Respect for human life, John.

I never said they were unhuman. I merely said that they were not protected under the Geneva Convention. You took what you wanted from the discussion, but what you took and what I said are two different things.
