dieselis, I guess since I don't condone torture, don't covet my neighbor's wife and belongings, don't screw the poor, don't attack others who have done nothing to me, don't condone murder, and don't ostracize others because they don't believe in my 'god' then no, I am not your type of 'christian' and thank 'god' for that. If you do truly love Jesus as you profess, you should be ashamed of yourself. You used the word hypocrite. You should know the definition because you fit it. Try reading Matthew as you have obviously no clue as to who Jesus was. Jesus was a LIBERAL.

And just for you information, I am an atheist and I would be willing to bet I know a HELL of a lot more about scripture than you do.

We need to get something passed that limits the terms of ALL Congressional personnel. There needs to be term limits of 10 years for ALL congressional personnel. Being allowed to be there for ever and ever just give them more time to be paid off by big business and to forget that they are suppose to back THE PEOPLE not the corporations. -- LVDragonLady

********************************************************

I agree completely -- however, as much as I hate to say it, I very much doubt that it will ever happen. Congressional term limits would almost certainly have to be established through Constitutional amendment, just as Presidential term limits were. Unfortunately, our Founding Fathers only gave us two official ways of amending the Constitution -- and one of those requires a Congressional majority vote! I think we all know the only majority that any bill put before Congress would be likely to receive if it proposed limits on their own powers would be in favor of its defeat. In fact, it might very well trigger one of the few wholly unanimous votes in the entire history of Congress...so that pretty much scotches that possibility.

If my understanding is correct, the second official means through which the Constitution may be amended would be a call for a Constitutional Convention by a two-thirds majority of all state legislatures -- that is, two-thirds of all the state legislatures agree that such a Convention should be called. The trouble with this is that since a good many state representatives hope to serve one day in Congress, it seems at least somewhat unlikely that a majority of them would vote in favor of a measure which they have reason to believe is an attempt to limit what they hope will be their future powers! (Neither Congress nor the state legislature should be a lifetime appointment. Unfortunately, the lack of term limits at any level inevitably means that the people supposedly chosen to represent us are politicians first and foremost -- meaning, they are easily tempted to focus on whatever they need to do to stay in power rather than what they need to do to serve the people.) Additionally, even if a two-thirds majority vote were achieved and enough American voters agreed to the measure, the fact remains that such a Convention has never been called before. Since our Founding Fathers apparently did not think to give us instructions on exactly how this should be carried out logistically, it seems highly probable that this would provoke a lot of political bickering beforehand -- perhaps some of it even deliberate, with the intended aim of stalling the process indefinitely. During that time, if one or more state legislatures were to undergo a power shift in terms of party majority, it does not seem impossible that a new vote could be cast overturning the call for a Convention -- which would be enough to send the whole process back to square one if the two-thirds majority hinged on as little as one state.

i see here there is no such thing as a liberal christian. you can't be a conservative without being a christian. its ludacris on both counts. i belive in GOD. JESUS is my savior. if that makes me crazy or some type of lunatic,oh well so be it.everyone who says LORD,LORD are often misled and off track. the LORD said my sheep hear MY VOICE. now if you hear HIS voice you'll obey and keep HIS statues. love the LORD GOD with all your heart strenth and mind. this is where the rubber meets the road;love my nieghbor as myself. you can use GOD with fancy words to gain advantage. it always catches up to you. gay marriage homosexuality i belive it to be sin just like lying, adultery, stealing and fornication. do i have the right to not love that person and treat him/her according to JESUS teachings. no i do not. were all hypocrites to so point but are you working to become more like CHRIST. you may never look like JESUS twin. however, you can have a startling resemblence. your actions paint the picture and tell the story. i see our country being torn apart by greed, power, graft and riotous living. its on both sides of the political isle and we as americans share more responsibility than were willing to accept. were all to blame. some more than others. if were going to fix it we have to come together. shouting insults at each other fixes nothing. some civilized conversations would be a terrific start.

Hatch needs to be replaced. He is so entrenched and long in the tooth, that he has long since stopped representing his state. He only represents his party, which is not the same thing.

No one should be allowed to stay that long. It is not supposed to be a lifetime job. After awhile they claim squatters rights for the office. Now of course it will be too late for him to get a real job. He does not remember what it is like to work on the outside of government. He has his SOCIALIST PERKS. The ones the Republicans don't want us to have. Free health and dental care. A non breakable money back guarantee on his retirement etc. We don't have that out here, no matter how much time we work. It is all up for grabs as to whether even our pensions survive. These legislators come in as often or as seldom as they like.

He is partially at fault. They all are. They all kept quiet during the rape of the Constitution, the spending and losing of billions for the war, the money stolen by contractors for the war, and the demise of the financial markets. All was quiet on the western front.

And all the noise they now make about EVERY SINGLE THING that Obama does, and I mean everything, they should have made the same when Bush made this mess. Now they find a collective voice they did not have before. Nice try Hatch.

I got an idea, lets make a republic, based on the Greco/Roman model, call our country exceptional, conquer other lands with our standing armies, have elite rule over us while binge drinking and eating till they puke, all the while pushing the people into poverty.

What could possibly go wrong with that?
