I am so glad there were no right wing nut jobs around when my grandmother was little, the census has been very helpful to me in my geneology research. She was born in 1908 and she was listed in the 1910 census along with her parents and brother and her mother’s brother of which our family had no knowledge that her mother had a brother, we are currently trying to track him. It would be great if her future generations would not be able to find information on her dumb ass.

I must commend the commentators on this blog for their tolerance for an opinion that differs from the authors. I am also planning to answer only the questions related to the number of people living in my household and nothing else. It is my belief that giving anyone recruited by ACORN any personal information is granting license to steal an identity. The fact that the census taker will already have my ssn is terrifying. I was more comfortable answering census questions when Clinton was president.

To the person who quoted the Holy Bible related to the census that placed Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem, that census only asked for the number of people in the household, nothing more.

Since good ole Tom was my representative and replaced by his protege Mike Coffman (who’s ethics aren’t much better), I can tell you that these people represent upper middle class suburbia. People in these areas (or as I refer to them as “hell zones”) tend to be more conservative. In fact, one of my neighbors still has “Palin” on the back windows of his mini-vans. These are the same people that consider any one that didn’t vote for McCain “liberals” even though a number of Republicans didn’t vote the way they did.

The question is not how they got elected the first time, it’s how they continue to get re-elected over and over again. I personally think it’s time for the citizens of this country to rise up against the people that have decided that being in Congress is a lifetime appointment.

Wow! I know it’s hard to believe how someone like a Michele Bachmann gets elected. I live in her district and despite all of our hard work last year, she was re-elected (she didn’t win my county though!)

She was pretty wacko before the 2008 election. Before the HardBall incident, she barely surfaced on the national radar.

Howeve, all of us were well aware of her tendencies based on her stint in the state legislature.

My question to all of you who are baffled by how someone like a Bachmann gets elected, I point you to Tom Tancredo or Peter King (IA).

This is a very conservative district, not only socially but on economic issues. Those two couple together easily in the affluent areas in the district. In those less than affluent neighborhoods, where foreclosures and unemploymnet are rising, it’s a classic case of the social wedge issues causing folks to vote against their own best economic interest. This is the constituency I believe will finally see her for who she really is: a charlatan and opportunist. No one will ever convince these folks that a woman has a reproductive choice, or the earth wasn’t created in seven days or that President Obama is not after their guns. At some point, the screaming will stop. When it does and sanity returns, I believe we will have a more moderate representative. Could be a Republican or a Democrat. But as long as she puts herself out there, screeching and keeping that part of her base fired up, and we screech back, we will stay exactly where we are.

People of Minnasota, please rise up like the folks in Iran and run this woman out of Congress – impeach her as a embarrassment to the U. S. Constitution and your state. What the hell does ACORN have to do with Al Franken. It is very easy to criticize this woman, but in some aspect we must all feel sorry for her. I have worked with relatives suffering from early onset dementia and sadly this woman exhibits the common early warning flags. Pity this woman as her later years in life are going to be a life of excruciating madness. She will be abandoned by all those who follow her ravings of righteous indignation.

Michelle Bachmann is so much fun. She’s a fool-magnet for the lunatic fringe of the GOP. While we would hope for more thoughtful adversaries, the Republican Party is not throwing them up for us to contend with. Even Senator McCain who is supposed to be the party’s grown-up, is advocating for a US policy toward Iran, which makes no more sense than loony tune Michele Bachmann’s delusional statements about ACORN and the census.

This can be fun for almost everyone, except for voters in Minnesota’s 6th district who must be embarrassed by their representative’s public displays of mental nudity.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, a crackpot GOP legislator, from Minnesota, has lost her grip on reality. She said, “I come from Minnesota. We’re still in a recount with our U.S. Senate race between Sen. Norm Coleman and the challenger Al Franken. Sen. Coleman won the race on election day, but that was challenged repeatedly, over and over, with what we feel may be fraudulent vote [sic], and we’re very concerned about what comes forward.”

Michele! It’s better to say nothing, and have a few people think you that you might be stupid and completely full of crap; than to speak-up and really butcher and screw-up GOP Talking Points unanimously relinquishing any doubt.

Sweetie. Minnesota is NOT still in a recount. The recount ended with Senator Elect Al Franken being declared the winner.
There’s NO Senator Norm Coleman. His term expired and he was defeated in the election. Hire somebody to write for you.
Minnesota needs Legislators that don’t publicly make an ass of themselves and appear to everyone that although all the lights are on there is definitely nobody home.

Drones. The US Constitution requires a census be conducted. and it requires only a head count. Title 13 of the US Code governs how the census is to be conducted and does have provisions for refusal to answer the census.

Title 13,221 specifically addresses the penalty for “refusal to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in connection with any census or survey provided for by subchapters I, II, IV, and V of chapter 5 of this title, applying to himself or to the family to which he belongs or is related, or to the farm or farms of which he or his family is the occupant, shall be fined not more than $100.”

I subject myself (and you all likely do as well) to $100+ fines daily by going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. Any questions other than head-count is unnecessary, and they can’t have my information. For that information, they can use Obama’s “sampling” process.

If she’s not part of the US population, won’t she be inelegible to be a member of the US House of Representatives? Won’t that solve a lot of problems? Wonder if Bachmann knows how much of the information she’s apparently so desperate to conceal from the Big Bad Government could quite possibly be obtained from Google and other internet sites — she might be in for a rather unpleasant shock much like the one Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia recently got when several people (a group of students, if memory serves) revealed just how much information about his own personal life they were able to dig up!

A lot of people aren’t really aware just how many electronic footprints they’re leaving behind, sometimes without even realizing it.
