I agree with the above plan. Take away Congress' freebies and let them see what happens when you have to pay exorbitant premiums and co-pays on everything or insurance companies denie medicals.

How to get a decent health insurance plan quickly:

1. Cancel health insurance for Congress until they come up a
    plan
2. They can have coverage back when they have a plan that
covers everybody at a reasonable cost.
3. Their coverage can't be any better than the public option

Yesca_Again, thank you for your service. I don't believe our Vets hear that enough. I was surprised when the doctor at the VA said that to me at the end of my appointment. I was left speechless (which is rare for me).

As for my nit, please ignore it. The point you were making is much more important. You have the correct spirit.

And your latest post says a lot and we should all be ashamed we have allowed this to happen to our country.

<em>RealityCheck Says:

I have seen the British health care system up close and personal...and I would call them anything but superior to our health care system. They suck.</em>

This is a lie. You've never been to England.

It's cute how whenever we cite actual data, some anonymous Internet wingnut responds with "well I saw it firsthand, and all of the publicly known facts are wrong!"

By the way, <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=died+in+hospital+waiting+room" rel="nofollow">people die in hosital waiting rooms in the U.S. all the time</a>.

Republicans try to obstruct (fill in the blank)...

This is the only tactic they have...no solutions, just wanting President Obama to fail.

So what is the alternative without socialized medicine? It is no health care at all for people who cannot afford it, the county hospital where care is less than optimal, and people using the emergency rooms for health care since they cannot be turned away. Public health clinics cannot accommodate the 40 million that have no health insurance in the US. Socialized health care even with its faults is better than the alternatives.

I have seen the British health care system up close and personal...and I would call them anything but superior to our health care system. They suck. People die waiting to be seen...or go to Scotland...Private clinics...in order to save their lives. The rich can afford it...the poor just die in silence.

<em>Tim Vaculik Says:

I said in so many words that if we allow this to happen, we will reduce our health care system to a less desireable standard. The one endured by citizens in countries with government run health care.</em>

Except that most of those countries rank ahead of us in health care. I mean, <a href="http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html" rel="nofollow">that's just a fact</a>. So the premise of your complaint is false. Now that you know that, will you switch sides on the issue?

Thank You LiberalVoter for the correction, I should have made sure before posting. But as a VietNam Vet, tax payer, father, etc I've always seen these documents as one and the same.
The ying & yang of what we are as a Nation.
Seems many here feel that the present system of Healthcare is being run the best it could, for whom?
Not the cancer victim, or the Asthmatic child, or the other hundred and one illnesses or diseases that go untreated because they don't have the money to pay for a doctor's visit or the medicine for it.
Not to get so religious, "but for the grace of God go I' is real life for many of us Americans and God does not reward the good everytime bad things happen. Ask those who were renditioned and are now years later still held for nothing.
America has taken on such a hard heart & a layer of cynasism in spirit that we deny & condemn everything, even each others humanity.
I've represented Doctors, nurses, clerks, janitors in my professional capacity. Each one, once you get pass certain sterotypical baises & prejudices are all pretty much the same. We all screw up and pretend we're better than we really are. We all make mistakes and there is a certain level of real incompetance, Peter's second principle.
So, back to HC. The private sector does not do things better or cheaper, it only skims off the top, incase you forgot that 65 - 85% of this nations wealth is controled by 3-5% of the population? What made America great was a profit margin of 10%, not 30-50%, and capital investment. That's capital as in machinery, workforce, etc. Employer HC wasn't incorperated as a kindness, but a way to insure your workforce was healthy enough to come to work & perform. Oh yeah, public Health was to keep the population from infecting everybody from such little things as maleria, cholera, small pox etc.
Seems the Right & those moderate Democrats had no problem spending Billions or is it now Trillions to invade & destory a sovereign nation that did us no harm, sacrificed 4000+ lives of our service men & women, for what?
Gave Billions to Wall St, so those already incontrol wouldn't lose any equity (wealth)and none complained very hard.
Yet the same people are doing everything they can, to keep any funding for the American people's welfare from being spent or allocated.
So it's OK to pour money down a hole but not to make America a better place for all Americans. To lift the weight of illness or injury?
My Neice & her husband complained about their healthcare premiums being so high that food etc were juggled. They felt that having employer covered healthcare was unfair and should be stopped, since they didn't have it at their employment. Forget those have it or those who fought for it had given up salary to get it.
Our food is laddened with all kinds of wild & crazy stuff, which effects our natural metabolism, bringing out or making us susceptible to things like obesity, strokes, high blood pressure, Diabetes, etc. But we have laws that were supposed to control that stuff, and track the effects of them. But for the last 20+ years the Republican mantra and actions have done everything to negate them, throught under funding and waviers. There is a causality here, just like the Investment industry and the regulators or lack there of. There are laws on the books about that stuff too.
It isn't just Bush's or the rights fault but that of those who saw/see profit through the injury to the many. That's the many who have no lobbist or vested interest or power, just the us folks who are suppose to buy this, as what does our voice matter anyway, or somehow believe or hope that they will be part of that select 3-5%. Do the math.
Obama is our start not our end, he is just a man, who can really zap a fly, since he's so new he probably still wants to do the best he can. So the real burden still lies with the rest of us. The status quo should never be good enough. America was & is still an experiment in democracy. We ain't done yet, if universal Healthcare doesn't work imagine how much money you can make later on it. But if it does work imagine what we can do next, what adventures our children will spark when they reach their majority. As for the bill, what do you think our parents left us, it's all relative anyway. Clinton payed the last one off.
Our parents took Humanity to the Moon, why can't we just make this place a better one?

Gave Billions to Wall St, so those already incontrol wouldn’t lose any equity (wealth)and none complained very hard.
Yet the same people are doing everything they can, to keep any funding for the American people’s welfare from being spent or allocated.
So it’s OK to pour money down a hole but not to make America a better place for all Americans. To lift the weight of illness or injury?
My Neice & her husband complained about their healthcare premiums being so high that food etc were juggled. They felt that having employer covered healthcare was unfair and should be stopped, since they didn’t have it at their employment.
It isn’t just Bush’s or the rights fault but that of those who saw/see profit through the injury to the many. That’s the many who have no lobbist or vested interest or power, just the us folks who are suppose to buy this, as what does our voice matter anyway, or somehow believe or hope that they will be part of that select 3-5%. Do the math.
Obama is our start not our end, he is just a man, who can really zap a fly, since he’s so new he probably still wants to do the best he can. So the real burden still lies with the rest of us. The status quo should never be good enough. America was & is still an experiment in democracy. We ain’t done yet, if universal Healthcare doesn’t work imagine how much money you can make later on it. But if it does work imagine what we can do next, what adventures our children will spark when they reach their majority. As for the bill, what do you think our parents left us, it’s all relative anyway. Clinton payed the last one off.
Our parents took Humanity to the Moon, why can’t we just make this place a better one?

RepubliCANs HF,

You probably think Sweden (with only 10 million people) has great Health care.

Sweden is running out of money, people there don't have much spending cash. Everything is very expensive, much more so than in the US. Their healthcare is also a huge bureaucratic mess. It's not FREE either, not by any means.

My buddy in Sweden had to keep running around, and back and forth, and paying about $30 each time, for just a simple removal of a cyst. He also had to buy antiseptic sponges and clean himself at home before going to the hospital for the operation. How stupid is all that.

It will never get as bad as Cuba though, so don't worry.

EugeneDebs,

Thank you, and you admire a famous communist. You must be brilliant. You might be, but one must have at least one screw loose to 'believe' in communism. It can't work, never has, and never will. It's fine for ants and bees, but not for humans. We are all too different. But deep, deep down, I think you know this.

*wink*

You are astonishingly stupid. You are a worthless punkass troll. What do you get out of showing everyone how stupid you are? We already know you are stupid and pathetic. So exactly what are you accomplishing by parading just how stupid and pathetic you are?

<em>Tim Vaculik Says:

Hoodathunktick,

I never said it was impossible. I said in so many words that if we allow this to happen, we will reduce our health care system to a less desireable standard. The one endured by citizens in countries with government run health care.</em>

You obviously don't know what you're talking about, mr. Vac-u-lick.

Are you saying that a system that is implemented in many industrialized countries all over the world could not be succesfully implemented in the US?

And that's why it is better to do nothing?

You, "sir" are actually saying:

"Let the poor die, it's not my responsability."

But you cover that up by echoing BS talking points.

YOU are the problem of the US.

Almost two decades after a mineral mine near Libby, Mont., was shut down because of asbestos contamination, the town's residents are still suffering from related diseases. EPA declared the whole town a HAZMAT. I wonder who will pick-up Libby's big health care bill, as most of the people in that town are sick and poor which most probably can't even afford private health insurance?

Tim Vaculik Says:
LiberalVoter,

Perhaps you could quote those passages in the Declaration and the Constitution that gaurantee us all a "right" to health care.
=============
The <em>Pursuit of Happiness</em> guarantee's America the "right" to health care. And whatever else American's may "deemed" necessary on their <strong>pursuit</strong> of finding <strong>happiness</strong> either through public or private means; it's called having the <strong>"liberty"</strong> the choose.
