Jim Cramer: ‘I think everybody wishes that Obama would just kind of go away for a little bit.’

Today on MSNBC, CNBC commentator Jim Cramer discussed a New York Times poll that shows many Americans want the Obama administration to address the growing budget deficit. Cramer claimed that Americans aren’t buying into health care reform right now because “it just means tax increases, and there’s got to be someone who pays for it.” According to Cramer, the solution that “everybody” wants is for Obama to “go away”:

But until we get the economy moving again, I think everybody wishes that Obama would just kind of go away for a little bit.

Watch it:

If Cramer looked closer at the poll, it also shows that 57 percent of the American public approve of what Obama is doing on the economy overall. Of course, Cramer is someone who claimed that Obama’s policies have resulted in “the most, greatest wealth destruction I’ve seen by a president” and is known for his irresponsible financial cheerleading (e.g. “Bear Stearns is not in trouble“). Maybe it’s not Obama who Americans want to “just kind of go away for a little bit.”

Transcript:

SCARBOROUGH: Hey, Jim Cramer, let me ask you a quick question about a stunning poll — I know you guys have been talking about it for the past hour. But a stunning poll the New York Times has this morning suggesting that Americans are more concerned about deficits than stimulus. Don’t you think this puts the Obama administration behind the eight ball on health care? You talk about keeping it under a trillion dollars — I think it has to be lower unless they pay for it.

CRAMER: Well, I think that Americans — These are all sub-rows of issues. This is all about taxes, and there’s a belief that until the economy recovers, we simply can’t afford tax increases, a la what happened in 1937 in this country. And when they hear health care reform, it just means tax increases, and there’s got to be someone who pays for it. And the under a trillion dollars, it is over many years as Ron Brownstein said, it just makes it at least somewhat palatable.

But until we get the economy moving again, I think everybody wishes that Obama would just kind of go away for a little bit.

Wrong Kramer; we wish that you’d go away, Clown.

Bill Cramer you need to GO AWAY permanently! Lying sack of garbage that you are!

  4. cynicalgirl says:

I think everybody wishes Cramer would just kind of go away for a little bit. Yesterday he was on CNBC telling everyone that housing has bottomed. How many times has he said this before? Well, he’s wrong again.

Why do they let him on TV when he’s been so wrong so many times? It’s not like he’s Bill Kristol or something.

  5. ranus69 says:

Cramer says, I think everybody wishes that Obama would just kind of go away for a little bit.

The conservatives and the GOP wish, nothing knew.

  6. Laszlo Panaflex says:

Every time he crops up now I see his limp ass begging for mercy from Jon Stewart. “No, don’t show the clips.”

Who still listens to him? He is utterly discredited, and anyone following his advice is losing money doing so. He makes for splashy TV, so CNBC and Morning Joe keep him on, but of what use is he in the context of financial news?

  7. mk3872 says:

More OUTSTANDING advice from that financial guru, Cramer!

As Fox News will tell you, MSNBC loves Obama ALL the time, right?

  8. kasinca says:

Cramer and CNBC are talking heads for Wall Street. They have done a misservice to the citizens by not being honest about the greed that put us where we are today. They should be taken off the air. Pretty faces, smug comments and false information serve us nothing but grief.

    – - I love it when people lack self-awareness and project their own insecurities and flaws onto others.

  10. ElBruce says:

    I think everybody wishes…

I’m gonna put that in the same circular file I throw his financial predictions into. One might argue that he’s qualified to talk about stocks (or at least hedge trading) per his resume, but he’s never had any experience whatsoever at public opinion research. And as bad at he is at his day job, I definitely wouldn’t want to go by his advice about anything else!

  11. RantingTommy says:

Cramer wishes the video of his very very very bad calls would go away

  12. ranus69 says:

This Cramer guy spews nothing but bad information, I watched him one time and that was it after he gave bad advice on picking stocks. The next day those same stocks he picked plummeted.

As with most conservatives, they hate when their lies and facts are challenged just like Cramer’s was on the Daily Show what a punk.

Bush last night, Cramer this morning. All we need is a soundbite from The Dick this afternoon and we will have a trifecta on the “how can we miss you if you won’t go away” crew.

It amazes me that someone who has been so wrong on so many different fronts can still have a job….

Then I look at the lineup at Fox News and can only sigh…

  20. P.D. says:

Oh please! Jon Stewart nailed this guy for the fraud he is, and Cramer still can’t let it go. What arrogance.

  21. ranus69 says:

It doesn’t surprise me that Cramer would voice his opinion as the Obama Administration is getting ready to overhaul Wall St.

I have not bought any stock or traded any stock since Aug of 2007, as I lost complete confidence and trust in Wall St.

  22. po says:

Where would he like the POTUS to go? Crawford, TX?

  23. linkwray says:

If Obama goes away so does regulation of securities, crackdowns on hedge funds, oil speculation and energy trading run amok and a slim chance for real health care reform. Additionally, things like consumer protection laws and habeus corpus would soon fall to fascist corpritocracy and crooks like Kramer and his lackeys who have created the financial mess. Yes, Obama should go away for a week and come back with a list of the 1000 most unpatriotic, lying crooks and ask the progressive forces to make their lives very uncomfortable. It would get fantastic ratings and I’d even “speculate” it would be a bigger “hit” than The Sopranos. Oh, too dream….

  24. texaslady says:

A few days ago, some conservative commented that Obama and the media need to “get a room” because the media is so enamoured with Obama. Now suddenly the media has to prove they are objective so will twist the facts.
I truly wonder how anyone can forget the sucking up to bush that went on for 8 years by the media.

And, I wonder if Obama were all white instead of half white would there the negativity on everything he does. Good grief it takes awhile to clean up a mess of 8 years, to turn the thinking around of the politicians who only understand those who throw money at them.

Where were all the voices about deficit when bush was losing 8 billion dollars in Iraq ? The cost overruns by Haliburton and KBR ? Funny how that is all forgotten.

  25. kdgamergirl says:

Yes we want to take more advice on what the nation wants from this disgrace… why is anyone even still letting him on TV?

    Oh, Amanda, SNAP!

    PEACE

  27. texaslady says:

I have heard Faux News take the same subject as CNN and the negative turn of words is incrediable. The hate towards someone trying to clean up such a republican created mess is beyond appalling. Repubs have to live in this world too, how about working together instead of dividing.

  28. LeeHope says:

Cramer is insane!! I saw a poll today that said that 76% of the American people want the public option health care plan!! It is insane to think that is people not wanting health care reform!!

  29. CageyCretin says:

    I think everybody wishes

Well, you cannot get much more idefinete, vague, and generalized than that. No facts?

“I think…” This is an opinion, and one not based on any fact.

“Everybody wishes” — this is a generalization as well, again with no supporting facts. Who is this “everybody”? I can find an awful lot of people who don’t wish that, and thus the “everybody” claim is disproved by emperical evidence that any person can collect by simply talking to other people.

So, he posits a personal opinion that a generalized inclusive group (i.e. “everybody”) has a vague opinion (”wishes”).

What a useless and senseless argument.

… and I think that everybody wishes that the modern conservatives would all leave America.

    Prove me wrong.

  30. spearNmagicHelmet says:

no jimmy, your doing it again. thinking.

  32. misscoleopteramolly says:

And just who do you think is the one who’s working his ass off to GET the economy moving again, bonehead?

  35. pags2 says:

Cramer is living in the Fox News alternate reality. It is amazing how many conservatives have deluded themselves thinking they are the only persons who can represent the the people. Cramer needs to stop getting his facts from Fox.

  36. larkohio says:

I do not want Barack Obama to go anywhere at all. He is a breath of fresh air! I don’t agree with all of his decisions, but he is a thoughtful leader. So, Kramer, you go away, and the duly elected President of the United States should keep his butt right where he is. He has a lot more work to do before he cleans up W.’s mess.

  37. Another Joe says:

The focus on lying liars in the mainstream media today really serves no purpose. Here is an important post at KOS about yet another example of how the dems and the administration appears to be selling us out once again:

Without a Public Option, It’s Not Really “Reform”
    by Hunter
Thu Jun 18, 2009 at 10:56:03 AM PDT

Add Tom Daschle to the list of people who think that serious healthcare reform is simply not possible, and so instead we should all reach for the consolation prize of substanceless bipartisanship.

Real progressive ideals are not furthered by endless bloggin’ about the same group of lying liars.

Real change will mean talking about issues and holding BOTH dems and repugs accountable for more than their rhetoric and talking points.

  38. 5th Estate says:

CRAMER: “But until we get the economy moving again..”

    Who’s WE, kemo sabe? You?

  39. SlappyBastinado says:

texas….open a window….it was the editor of the San Fransisco Chronicle that suggested the press and Obama fornicate. GET A CLUE!

  40. misscoleopteramolly says:

Cramer claimed that Americans aren’t buying into health care reform right now because “it just means tax increases, and there’s got to be someone who pays for it.”
    ____________________________________________________________

Funny thing is, I don’t recall Cramer and his buddies complaining about the various ill-advised projects of Bushco “meaning tax increases”. And even though the Bush wars drove our debt out into the stratosphere, we didn’t get sharp tax increases to pay for any of it.

Cramer wants to push the myth that any kind of health care reform — particularly a public health plan — would be 100% taxpayer supported, to the tune of trillions of dollars. Not so. While surely there will be some seed money required to get the program off the ground, a public plan would be largely paid for by those participating in it.

They’re grasping at straws in order to set up their pathetic straw men.

  41. liberalinaredstate says:

Thank you Texaslady! Obama is disliked because he is bringing about change and the color of his skin is also an issue for the neanderthals on Capital Hill. He’s young and awesome..they know he can make things happen and they’re scared shitless.

What a bitter little snot Cramer is! I wonder if Mr. Cramer actually thinks before he speaks. Look at his show. A grown man banging pans, blowing horns, and screaming out loud about finance, hedge funds, stocks and investments. Talk about someone who needs to go away.

  42. DaTruth says:

What a dumb suggestion : “go away”. Going away is not a solution. Obama has broken some promises he made before he got elected. I don’t really see substantial change so far in his presidency. The only change is Obama himself, the fact that he’s the 1st black president. That’s it. The wars go on just like in the Bush days, and the economy stuck with a whole bunch of bailouts on taxpayer money. I don’t want him to go away but I would want him to act like he said he would before he got elected.

  43. delafield says:

85% of America’s $11.5 trillion National Debt was created during the Reagan/Bush Sr./Bush Jr. tax cut for the rich years.

The obvious solution to Jim Cramer’s concern about America’s deficits would be to never elect another Republican.

  44. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

Why isn’t Jim Cramer being investigated for insider trading yet. The guy is not only annoying and obnoxious but he is also a crook. Heh, must be a republican…

  45. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

Another Joe @ 39 makes a good point. Ed Schultz even suggested that he’s beginning to think the dem’s don’t want Al Franken in as the senator because it would get the dem’s closer to 60 votes and then they’d have no excuses for not pushing what the majority of Americans want. He also suggested that the dem’s are pushing to get the health care bill done before Franken becomes a senator.

I agree, we are being sold out by BOTH parties, it’s been that way for a long time. Too much money is involved in DC. We have the worst government money can and will buy when it concerns we the people.

  46. SlappyBastinado says:

OMG PEOPLE…..Jim Cramer is a Harvard liberal…..always has been…..admitted! And yeah Uncle Fester he has admitted to insider trading on he show a couple of weeks ago (must be a statute thingie) but he is no Republican. Google? If Cramer is on the right we are now commies……………………….OK, I can dig it!

  47. LizCoro says:

Gee, our last president DID go away–to Texas or Camp David, every chance he got, more vacation than any president–and look how well that worked out. Thanks for your advice, Jim. I’d let my dog pick stocks before I’d take investment–or any other–advice from you.

  57. Buckie Boy says:

Cramer needs to go away permanently.

  58. majii says:

The Washington Monthly has an excellent article comparing, contrasting, and interpreting the results of the different polls, and it seems that they don’t show what some of the media is saying that they are saying about the president and his policies.

And to a previous poster: IMO, which comes from an AA who has lived in America before and after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, a lot of white Americans still have problems with AAs and other minorities in positions of power. I live in GA, and after Obama won the presidency back in Nov., the people in the school where I teach were in mourning. The people, in general, were in mourning. Many here are still in denial, in spite of what they have witnessed happening with the republicans on the national stage. Just so that you understand the atmosphere here, Erick Erickson is on the city council, yes, he of redstate. The atmosphere got so ugly around here that the local online newspaper, macon.com, no longer carries any articles dealing with Obama or his policies. The only way to get info is to access a McClatchy link. Check it out if you have the time.

  59. Mosaic says:

  60. ElBruce says:

    SlappyBastinado Says:

    OMG PEOPLE…..Jim Cramer is a Harvard liberal…..always has been…..admitted!

I don’t really care what he calls himself, I care what he says about politics in determining what I’m going to call him.

The assumption that “Obama going away” would cause the economy to rebound assumes that economies always do well when the government isn’t looking. That’s a conservative assumption. The reverse has always shown to be the factual outcome.

We’re in the middle of an economic crisis. Not dealing with it isn’t going to fix it. For example heath care is a huge overhead burden on every industry out there, and it’s getting worse every day. Having single-payer or a public option or whatever would bring the total overhead more in line with countries that are known to be less wasteful. That helps the economy.

The basic assumption behind this entire conversation is the same one that Cramer (and John McCain) had right up until the financial markets crashed – everything’s fine, nothing’s wrong, the economy is great… even now after the crash and all of the efforts to keep it from crashing even further, here he is upholding the very same premise that turned him into a laughingstock to begin with.

  61. Bozo The Neoclown says:

what’s the matter? the little parasite cramer’s worried that they’ll be regulation of wall street preventing future taxpayer bailouts?

  62. texaslady says:

Uh Slappy – so an editor in San Fran can’t be a conservative ? Either way the comment of last week brought ridiculous twists to facts from the media….hmmmmm
And slappy which is appropriate I might add, give me one or any example of Cramer being progressive or even correct.

And people I know that lost money and myself included lost it LAST year not this, this year we are slowly coming back. But gee, lets not give Obama credit for that.

Look beyond color you closet racist, Obama is pushing a chain uphill, working for taxpayers unlike the last 8 years. If and when in 4 years we are not better off, use your vote.

It must be nice to have Cramer’s level of omniscience by knowing exactly what everybody wishes.

The quickest way to lose credibility when debating the issues to to assert that “everybody agrees that….”
If everybody agreed, then there would be no need for the debate.

  75. wiley says:

Cramer is old enough to know the Bush years were an aberration. All the other presidents had to much work to do to spend so much time on vacation. President Obama has a bigger workload coming in than most, because he has to clean up the mess the Bush administration made.

Seeing the president so often is just a return to normalcy.

  76. HighPlainsJoker says:

Cramer: Who is this “we” who is going to clean up the economy? Start with the liars who ruined it, fire them, which means yourself. Are you still Mr Optimism? Buy now! Shouting out the mantra? If CNBC had any integrity at all, it would fire you first, and the commodities guy, Rick next. Actually, hand in hand out the door would improve that channel a lot. Have not watched it except for the news with B. Williams since Ricky boy’s tirade.

  77. prezBO says:

With respect to cleaning up the economy why not lighten the work load by hiring a few tax cheats to help you? I don’t know why I had that thought but it seems like something a demoncrap president would do. Maybe appoint a racist judge while your at it (just to keep busy).

The same poll found that the Republican Party is viewed favorably by only 28 percent of those polled, the lowest rating ever in a New York Times/CBS News poll. In contrast, 57 percent said that they had a favorable view of the Democratic Party. It looks like the American people want SOMEONE ELSE to “go away for a little bit.” They like Obama just fine.

  82. rabbitcore says:

I think if Obama is able to achieve most of his goals it’s gonna be because the bloggers, indy media, and grassroots organizers.

It seems that big financial interests are lining up on all fronts–politicians, media, ‘think tank’ research, industry, etc… to bring the President down.

I pray that, for once, the larger American public doesn’t fall for the corporately-financed propaganda.

  84. prezBO says:

I pray that, for once, the larger American public doesn’t fall for the corporately-financed propaganda.

I’m with you there. If the Communist News Network keeps their propaganda mill turning obammies screw-ups will get too much daily attention and his popularity slide will peak before the 2010 GOP return to glory. Stretch it out, savor the fertile field of stupidly that lies between the ears of commiehusseinBO (talk about a vast wilderness) and let a few things ride. Pointing out every thing this clown does all at once will have the American people believing the mountain of garbage he is tossing out the window of the oval office is too tall to be dealt with. Slowly take back that which belongs to you in 2010 and then get bids to move obammie back to Mafiville in 2012 or heck buy him a peanut farm to celebrate his place in history. hahahahhhahhahaah

  85. lvdragonlady says:

First off, it is the MEDIA constantly talking about ever little think the president says or does that lands him on the television. I am sure he would prefer a little peace and quiet instead of the constant attention.
If the media had paid half as much attention to bush and what the hell he was doing things would probably be difference. But no, the media touted everything this ass did as a god send.

  86. H_Tuttle says:
