Will Krauthammer attack McCain for referring to Khamenei as ‘Supreme Leader?’
In his Washington Post column today, Charles Krauthammer bitterly attacked President Obama for referring to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the “Supreme Leader” of Iran. “‘Supreme Leader’? Note the abject solicitousness with which the American president confers this honorific on a clerical dictator,” wrote Krauthammer. But on Fox News later in the day, one of Krauthammer’s most admired politicians also referred to Khamenei as “Supreme Leader.” “There may be those indications since the Supreme Leader said that they were not going to tolerate further demonstrations in the street,” said Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). Watch it:

Obama – and McCain – were showing respect to the leader of a nation I hope we are still trying to come to peaceful terms with. The Reich, however, like radical Islam, feels such respect is only owed to their own kind – which is to say, the inbred arm of Christianity.

Get some high grade fresh tuna not that cat food in the can stuff. Cut it into little cubes. Pound them paper thin between sheets of wax paper. Top with minced red onion and capers. Drizzle with a high quality olive oil and salt and pepper but the pepper has tobe freshly cracked and the salt should definately not have a girl with an umbrella on the label… Trust me on this one…

The dems have mislead us and squandered the best chance for real reform in many years – perhaps a historical moment that is not likely to come again.

One of my best friends, who runs a major progresive web site, was a member of the Liberttarian Party, ad I’ve known an awful lot of techno-libertarians–mainly engineers and scientists who got bitten by Heinlein as a youth. I disagree with libertarianism, but I could find all sorts of commonground on which to discuss issues.
I have friends who are orthodox Jews, devoted Christians, and militant atheists. I can talk to all of them, because they shhare with me an interest in the Big Questions, even if the answers they come up with are wildly different.
But you? You’ll talk about free-market fundamentals and the Nanny State–and then start screaming about unborn babies the next minute. You’ll scream about elitism and losers in the same breath. And it’s not because you’re lunatics–it’s just because you’re simply opposed to us.
We love America here. We celebrate human freedom. Just about all of us think that capitalism is a fine thing, as is science. The possibility for discussion exists.
But not until you acknowledge that we’re on the same side in many ways.

Yes. He does commentary about the news, which is why he opens every show with “Which of these five stories will you be talking about tomorrow?” That’s not to say he won’t interrupt his show with Breaking News, but he isn’t there to report</em the news, only to comment on it with his guests.
Olbermann correctly believes that you don’t have to have “balance” in your talk shows about the news. In almost every discussion on the other talk shows, they feature a left-winger and a right-winger. It has been my own personal observation that right-wingers do not know how to “debate” a topic. They act as if stating an argument automatically bestows validity on it and, therefore, you should agree with them. What they consistently fail to understand is that if their argument is not based on actual facts from the actual real world, then it is not a valid argument and that it should be dismissed. (For example, anything Frank Gaffney says on TV is, nine out of ten times, completely false. They should stop having on their programs if they want their views to be informed ion the issues.)
And given the fact that they are often on TV for a limited amount of time, they know that if they keep the discussion going to the point of total confusion for the viewer (especially the ones who think that they are being truthful), then the viewer will come away unsure about the issue. And that is their true goal – not to persuade anyone that they are right and we are wrong, but to leave the viewers at home unsure about the truth.
They know they cannot win most arguments on the merits of their position because their position has no merits for the average American. If you believe that corporations are full citizens with the rights of every other citizen, if you believe that making money is more important than doing something good, if you believe that Jesus and God (who are, supposedly, one and the same thing) are more powerful gods than any other, then you’ll probably agree with the right-winger no matter how ridiculous they sound.

So, in conclusion, this is not what Olbermann says about himself, it’s what others not in MSNBC say. Which means the phrase does not prove that Olbermann primarily does news. He primarily does commentary about the news.

For me, there’s a point where the back and forth with what are mostly ridiculous trolls starts to get to me and then along EugeneDebs comes and throws in one of his, “Troll why don’t you just go and kill yourself” things and I laugh, a bit uncomfortably it’s true, but my stress is relieved.
I agree with EugeneDebs that the trolls are here just to disrupt and I don’t think it reflects well on TP that there is so much juvenile and/or demented blather from them here.
I certainly sympathize with anyone who has been affected by a suicide (as I have been, although perhaps not quite as directly as some of you may have been) and wish you much strength in dealing with those losses.

I don’t see that EugeneDebs, or anyone else for that matter, expressed any such violence towards ‘Jeffy Bovine’ other than johnny dol1ar. EugeneDebs was directing his remarks to the latest attention-seeking/attention-getting ridiculous troll whose name we all know.

First, why did you choose your Olby Sucks sockpuppet to post this rant about what both CNN and MSNBC are not covering? It’s the weekend, so Olbermann wouldn’t have been on anyway. You could have used one of the other names you post under to make this snotty comment.
Second, so what? I assume that you are referring to the protests in Tehran. If so, how is reporting live on a volatile situation helpful? Most of the time, you can’t really know what’s happening or, more importantly for a “news” organization, why it’s happening. Western journalists have been kicked out of Tehran, and the videos we’ve been seeing are, at best, several hours old. There is no live information coming out of Tehran, so why report on it live?
Third, what is your obsession about Keith Olbermann? Do you realize that to an outside observer, your constant focus on Olbermann could be seen as pathological? I won’t argue that he can be as pompous as Bill O’Reilly, but there’s an important difference between the two that clearly doesn’t matter to you: Olbermann strives to give truthful information while O’Reilly is content to repeat falsehoods and outright lies in a pathetic attempt to prove he’s right. Like most liberals, I am less interested in what people are saying and more interested in what is actually true. After all, you can’t decide what would be the best thing to do if the information you’re basing your decision on is not connected to reality.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t expect you to give me a rational answer. You might answer, but I doubt there would be any thought to what you post.
