In her June newsletter, State Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-MO) provided several “commentaries” to a press release from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on a summer food program. The program provides “food during the summer for thousands of low-income Missouri children who rely on the school cafeteria for free or reduced-price meals during the regular school year.” Davis, who serves as the chairwoman of the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families, questioned whether the program is “warranted,” and extolled the hidden benefits of child hunger:
Who’s buying dinner? Who is getting paid to serve the meal? Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer if it is warranted. [...] Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. [...] Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break. [...] It really is all about increasing government spending, which means an increase in taxes for us to buy more free lunches and breakfasts.
A report by Feeding America found that one in five Missouri children currently lives with hunger. Taking apart Davis’ other arguments, a St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial noted that most of the summer feeding program sites are actually hosted by churches and that the program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, fed 3.7 million meals at a total cost of less than $9.5 million last summer — “a pretty good use of federal money.” (HT: DailyKos diarist Dem Beans)

June 21st, 2009 at 4:23 pmplease note she is wearing a cross around her neck
she is living proof that christianity died on the cross.
health care churchs go out and raise one thousand dollars for a member who has a 100 thousand dollar debt with no insurance and the church folks think they have done their christian duty.
christianity died on the cross in america.
we can afford mega taxes for our wars for profits in america but not health insurance for all.
again christianity died on the cross.

June 21st, 2009 at 4:24 pmI bet Davis also believes it’s better if poor children receive no health care, either — why burden the taxpayer when thinning the herd by allowing the poor and weak to die off is so much better for society?

Dear Cynthia Davis (R-MO),
Sure McDonald’s feeds you during your 30 minute break…
… But try eating boxes from Walmart.

June 21st, 2009 at 4:37 pmWe havne’t heard much about compassionate conservatism since the stolen election in 2000. Maybe this hyena will be the one to bring it back into the mainstream of discussion.
I wonder if any of her kids were ever hungry?

Dear Cynthia Davis (R-MO),
McDonald’s can’t hire 13 year olds.

June 21st, 2009 at 4:38 pmWell here’s a dead-ender – part of the backwash. I was afraid TP would start reporting on real issues by the national leaders that actually matter now and could, if they chose to, enact the type of policies and change that they promised in the 2006 and 2008 election.
That early post that implied people had a right to expect more from obama and the dems and “progressive” change towards gay worried me that this might become an issue blog where both left and right are held accountable to matching their rhetoric with their actions.
I am glad to see that TP is back to distractions, obfuscation, and pandering to the irrelevant and fringe elements.
Thanks for going back to your 24/7 backwash and dead-ender coverage. Thanks for refusing to take a stand or promote a dialog on the issues that matter to Americans.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:39 pmGotta love the “all wingnuts all time” coverage that ignores the fact that positive change will only happen if we hold obama and dems to the same standards as the repugs, neocons, and crazy-right.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:40 pmCynthia Davis (R-MO): “Hunger can be a positive motivator.”
Then let’s starve her & see how motivated she is. I say 6 months of starvation minimum, so she can possibly understand.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:42 pmFear is a great motivator. So is pain. I’m surprised that this b!tch isn’t proposing shock-collars to keep kids in line.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:44 pmState Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-MO) says, “Hunger can be a positive motivator.”

June 21st, 2009 at 4:46 pmWhat a total bigoted dork this woman is. She has no grasp on the reality of people who are poor & without food. Toss her out. To her, poverty = just buy more food!! Disgusting.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:46 pmWhat the f… is wrong with republicans? Do they practice anything they preach. Fiscal responsibility, Nope! Family values? Nope Christian values? Nope. The party of NOP is a contradiction in terms. I wonder what she would be saying if the funds were cut off and the kids started stealing and worse to feed themselves. She is right hunger is a motivational factor all you have to do is look elsewhere around the world to see what kids do. I am not sure where she thinks kids will get jobs when the National unemployment rate is over 10%. I know all republicans are not like tha but there sure are anough of them to spoil the whole lot.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:46 pm“[G]overnmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer…”
With a little rearranging her point becomes crystal clear. Prepare to tithe 35% to your church or prepare for a “Church Tax”. It’s the only solution. Oh, and if churches can’t solve the problem, then its Gods’ will. I’m sure if she looks hard enough, this alleged Christian can find something in the Old Testament that come close to justifying her way of thinking, however, she’s obviously unfamiliar with the teachings of the New Testament.

June 21st, 2009 at 4:47 pmAnother loon from the state of Mizzery. Unfortunately she is not the only idiot in this state — Roy Blunt (R) ring any bells?
When Roy Blunt’s son, Matt Blunt, was Governor, he made deep cuts health care for children. When there was a huge outcry the Legislature restored part of it, but thousands of children lost their health insurance and are still without insurance.
Unfortunately I have to share a state with these idiots.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:47 pmBy the way, Another Jo(k)e is not only stupid, but his/her posts are so convoluted they are ludicrous. Please, everyone, stop replying to all these trolls. They are hired to disrupt honesty & facts — let’s not pay them.

June 21st, 2009 at 4:58 pmGotta disagree, Joe.
While it’s True that President Obama has Failed to push for Many Important Issues….in the 6 months he’s been President…
A lot of the changes REQUIRE Congressional action.
And Obama has stopped torturing prisoners,
and stopped sending the Feds after Medical Marijuana Suppliers,
and stopped denying funds to foreign family planning services that allow abortions,
and allowed Embryonic stem cell research funding.
The Canard that there’s NO difference between the Dems and Repubs gave us Ralph Nader and 8 years of George W.
I’m for All the pressure we can Muster, to Push Obama in the Progressive direction…but I can’t give up on him after only 6 months. He’s obviously picking his fights carefully.

Obama May Lack Votes on Health, Democrat Says
President Obama may not have the votes in the Senate to pass his call for a sweeping overhaul of the health-care system, a leading Democratic senator said on Sunday.
“I don’t know that he has the votes right now,” said Dianne Feinstein of California, who joined Republicans in voicing reservations about the White House proposal. “I think there’s a lot of concern in the Democratic caucus.”

Another Joe says, “Thanks for refusing to take a stand or promote a dialog on the issues that matter to Americans.”
This article demonstrates the inconsiderate, greedy, hateful, uncaring, and un-Christian nature of Republicans and Conservatives.
I remember the deep recession, poverty, suffering, unemployment, and hunger during the Reagan years. Reagan gave trillions of dollars to wealthy Americans. Where did that money come from? Well, one thing that Reagan did was cut the school lunch program for poor children.
Reagan claimed that ketchup was a vegetable so that he could reduce the amount of food given to hungry poor kids. Instead of getting potatoes, beans, and corn on your plate, you received potatoes, beans, and ketchup.

Pretty hard to function well during an interview when you’ve had nothing more than scraps to eat. I took someone’s advice one time to step into the shoes of a poor person and eat nothing for day. I chose to eat nothing for two days, and hunger is pain. Going on an empty stomach is not simply “oh, bummer!” When you try to exert yourself and move around on an empty stomach, the feeling gets worse. Cramps, headaches, dizziness–your body is stretched thin.
As evidenced by folks like Cynthia Davis, the enjoyment of doling out sling-shot rhetoric as a justification of others’ suffering is still commonplace.

June 21st, 2009 at 5:12 pm“Missouri lawmaker on child hunger: ‘Hunger can be a positive motivator.’”
And there is another lunatic fringe lawmaker that crawled from under a sewer pipe to give the most insane comment on child hunger.
And this representative has children herself. What an example of a lawmaker and parent representing Missouri! Rep. Davis and her husband, Bernie, have seven children: John, Benjamin, Cathryn, Matthew, Amanda, Susanna and Philip.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:15 pmWhat an unadulterated load of crap! Especially from a woman who looks like she’s never seen a hungry day in her life. I just don’t understand these people. Jesus fed a multitude of people before he spoke to them. Why? Because he knew that they wouldn’t be able to hear if their minds were focused on something to eat. Hunger is no motivator. Hunger robs motivation. Hunger cause the hungry to think low of themselves.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:15 pmHunger=despair.

June 21st, 2009 at 5:20 pmReagan would have reclassified ketchup and pickle relish from condiments to a vegetable, allowing public schools to cut out a serving of cooked or fresh vegetable from hot lunch program child-nutrition requirements. The White House Office of Management and Budget estimated a potential US $1 billion annual savings in the cost of subsidized meals for low-income students.

June 21st, 2009 at 5:24 pmI couldn’t make an argument this bad if I tried to do so.
Let’s see… don’t break up the family and family meals, but teenagers should go to McDonald’s and eat there during breaks. And it’s probably not healthy.
And to avoid all GUMMINT oppression… thousands of children should be confined in a restaurant for 20-40 hours a week selling burgers and cleaning surfaces, making minimum wage that might not cover gas.
Those scary government folks will invade the dinner tables! They don’t just distribute food or hire a seller, they follow us home to glower!
June 21st, 2009 at 5:24 pmThere is only one word I can think of to describe Republics like this woman. The word is UGLY.

June 21st, 2009 at 5:37 pmThe free lunch/breakfast program simply makes sense. The schools offer a curriculum available to all students, but deeper inequality would persist if students are malnourished to take on the challenges. The purpose would defeated if the nourishment of brains depended upon what a parent could cart out of the grocery store. The K-12 years are critical.
A good friend of mine from high school was on the free/reduced lunch program and he had a slate full of AP classes; he was told he could graduate at the end of his third year. It wouldn’t help if he had to go an entire day of these demanding classes without any nourishment. It was great to see him on a level playing field and even outperforming the clubby, wealthier kids who have no shortage of the processed crap in their backpacks.

And when you consider the seriousness and the number of issues he has to pick his fights for, it’s amazing he can get anything accomplished. Can you ever remember a president inheriting the kind of messes that Obama has inherited? Can you ever remember a president who was attacked by the other party starting on the day after he was elected? The righties like to cheer over the fact that President Obama’s poll numbers have gone down a couple of points in the last month. Frankly I’m amazed he is still in the 60’s considering what he has to deal with and considering the daily attacks on him and his administration.
I’m willing to give President Obama the benefit of the doubt and at least a year to prove to me that his heart is in the right place. That doesn’t mean I won’t criticize him when warranted. But I also won’t through the baby out with the bathwater because I haven’t gotten 100% of what I want.

June 21st, 2009 at 5:41 pmI retired last month after teaching school for 33 years, and I can say that if we had not had the free and reduced lunch programs at school, many of our students would not have been able to eat at all. I also encountered a lot of kids (teenagers) who did not have any health insurance. Contrary to what many republicans say about mainly minorities needing access to healthcare and needing nutritious food to eat (free or reduced meals), it has been my experience that the problem is confined to not only minorities. One of my best students’ moms admitted at a conference earlier this year that they had no medical insurance because the family couldn’t afford it. Another one of my students had missed several days in school and would oftentime sleep in class. When I asked why she was sleeping in class, she said her little sister had been sick, and since she was the oldest child, she had to stay up and attend to her throughout the nights she was sick. I asked whether her mom had taken the child to the doctor, and she said that they couldn’t because they did not have medical insurance. These students’ stories broke my heart. These students were white. I had hispanic, white, Asian, and black students who were in the same predicament. This is why we need to get rid of uninformed, uncaring politicians like Rep. Davis. This is why I have made a personal commitment to working to get healthcare reform with a public option. For the kids and others who have absolutely no protection against illness.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:42 pmI said this on another thread, but this story tells me it’s worth repeating:

This is our country. Just as the citizens of Iraq are willing to take to the streets to make their voices be heard, can we do anything less? We claim moral high ground, the source of democracy, people’s government.
The people need to find their voice. We need to drown out the MSM and their bought lies. We need to let our representatives know they had best listen.
If America wants to be the bad a*s of people’s rights, we best get on the stick.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:47 pmMy repub friends spout the same crap all the time. Out of work? Get a job; don’t have money for food? Get a job; no health insurance? Get health insurance; which is always followed by , “If I can do it, then anyone can do it.” Of course, when it is pointed out that they had parents who supported them when they attended college and provided loans for home purchases , etc. they say, “That’s not relevant.” Guess, if you’re on top looking down, that it is hard to understand that not everyone had the same benefits growing up as they enjoyed.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:47 pmThe K-12 years are critical.
Yer right, but if anything even more important is the so-called ‘neo-nat’ period, from birth to school-age, whatever it is. It’s in that period, before they can get into food-programs at school, that a lot of the damage is done.
Psychological development and physiological development occur simultaneously, though not at the same rate in every individual. But a WHOLE lot of synapses are connected, a whole lot of images are stored, a whole lot of sympathies of all kinds are formed long before children go to school. And a LOT of harm is done.
Poor people have large families. There are (avoidable) shortages in things that have enormous long-term effects: proper vitamin/mineral consumption, activity (both physical and intellectual), diet, exposure to noxious substances, etc. Some of these are met by school meal programs, but for pre “pre-school” kids there are way too many holes for how important what is happening then is.

In bad economic times, churches and charities run out of money, too. And kids can’t find jobs, either. I remember once a McD’s in Harlem had two vacancies and hundreds showed up for those two jobs.
June 21st, 2009 at 5:54 pmNow, everyone fears the establishment.
May 4, 1970.
The day the State opened fire on its people.
Four dead in Ohio.
19 dead in Tehran.
All dead, just the same.
And the same killers: the State
In a hyper-mediated environment, the State can be parsimonious with its public murders. That’s because they can be endlessly repeated. Every year, on may 4, folks are reminded of the events at Kent State (and occasionally of the events at Jackson State, a couple of weeks later), when the Ohio National Guard fired on and apparently randomly killed four WHITE kids. That was a real hurdle they cleared that day.
And of course, with the yearly reminders, the incentive to test those parameters again is (comprehensibly) diminished among those who might otherwise be imagined to resist, again.

Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-Pluto) won’t give it up. As we’ve been reporting for a while, Davis, Rep. Tim Jones and other members of the Missouri Birther Caucus have been pursuing a discredited, debunked and otherwise laughed-at theory alleging that President Obama isn’t actually an American citizen.
Today, Davis has signed a letter stating her belief that Obama is “usurping the office of President” and asking for a jury trial to verify Obama’s citizenship. She also wants the governments of Pakistan, Kenya, Indonesia and “Britain” to weigh in on Obama’s alleged usurping

A bill filed by state Rep. Cynthia Davis, R-19th District, to stop elective abortions in Missouri is raising some eyebrows, especially among supporters of Planned Parenthood.
funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, fed 3.7 million meals at a total cost of less than $9.5 million last summer
9 point 5 million dollars! Do you realize how many stealth bombers you could build with th….
Oh. Never mind…
June 21st, 2009 at 6:34 pmI know this is probably tacky but I suspect she breast fed her children until the age of puberty.
June 21st, 2009 at 6:34 pmCantcha just see Jesus handing out loaves and fishes..
Sorry, not for you. Only middle class Judeans get the loaves and piscatorial delights… Poor people need not apply…

June 21st, 2009 at 6:39 pmHope they have the common decency to vote this crazy XiaNazi out of office soon…
Wayne, how can you say that? She is compassionately being conservative about feeding people. As long as they don’t starve to death in front of her.
June 21st, 2009 at 6:39 pmI realize that each McDonald’s restaurant may have its own policy regarding employee meals, but here’s what one had to say in Bozeman, MT: http://www.mcdonaldsbozeman.com/working_at.php
Sorry, Rep Davis, but you’ll have to come up with another excuse to not feed poor children. They may still have to buy their own food even if they work at Mickey D’s.

June 21st, 2009 at 6:45 pmOh crap, I missed a biggie.
“We have nothing to fear but what the Republicans screech about.”
Come to think of it, I guess that is the last thing we need to be afraid of. They haven’t gotten anything right in over 50 years.
“We have nothing to fear except listening to Republicans.”
June 21st, 2009 at 6:50 pmNobody wants to get shot. But during the Vietnam War years, some people prefered to fight here in America, rather than in a rice paddy in Southeast Asia.
You’re missing the point.
Which is that it is because of the State has demonstrated its willingness to murder its citizens in cold blood on the street for dissenting from a foul, malignant, and destructive war that the people today are more quisescent, less activist. May 4, 1970 is IN the public memory. It’s a reminder to any who’d maybe have the temerity to strenuously object again.
so, where were you in may,’70?

June 21st, 2009 at 6:55 pmTaking a look at Ms. Davis’ Wiki page, it appears that her only qualifications are religious in nature. Isn’t it time to start taxing the Hell out of political churches?

Could you define political churches? Haven’t found one yet that didn’t dabble.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:13 pmIsn ‘t it time for a new thread?
Someone that is totally irrelevant somewhere must have said something incredibly stoooooooooopid.
Anything to prevent a dialog about the obama and the DEMS selling us out on healthcare, right?
Trillions for illegal wars, trillions for wall street, little for main street, billions of gm…
A rational healthcare system – can’t afford it, right?
Don’t let the dems fool you – they and they alone are responsible for this – the repugs/wingnuts don’t really matter.
But TP will blog about the loonies and not the REAL fraudsters in the white house and congress.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:20 pmPolitical churches would be those that endorse specific candidates or measures (prop 8). If they want to drive political debate? They can pay taxes. Though I have a feeling that the mere threat of lifting some of their collection plate protection racket would shut them up.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:21 pmDon’t the folks at TP deserve some time off on the weekend?
June 21st, 2009 at 7:26 pmoh i’m sure she’s had a free market job. check for any pay stubs stuck between the pages of her bible, more accurately known as the manual of republicanism.

why would you want to tax churches? if we put a tax on churches, it is possible that we may stop seeing hungry people pictured in the paper after a major holiday enjoying a nice meal.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:34 pmcan we stop with the healt care talk? the governments job is to fund the schools and research that puts the future free market doctor through. then doctor decides who he (god forbid, she) wants to treat and that is that.

June 21st, 2009 at 7:50 pmWhy tax churches? It’s that whole God vs. Caesar thing. If they want to tell Caesar what to do? They can pitch in for expenses.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:50 pmIsn ‘t it time for a new thread?
No, but it is time for you to go find another website to haunt. If you don’t like what TP covers, go find a site you do like. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s tired of you showing up just to b!tch and moan about what TP is NOT covering. Instead of posting a comment here that will get you nothing but derision, send an e-mail to TP.
Better yet, if you think you could do a better job, then write your own post and submit it to TP to publish. If they like it, they may even pay you for it. Otherwise, kindly keep your complaints to yourself.
June 21st, 2009 at 7:56 pmthe federal government, frankly, owes its existence to churches. subsidies and tax breaks are the least they should be doing to to attempt to repay what they can never fully repay, the existence of every worship cell of the baby jesus. every time a church is erected, it’s one more nerve ending attached to above, one more vibration of spirit channeled from the homeland to the half-way house of shitty health care.

June 21st, 2009 at 7:59 pm1B hungry people hmmm …
this is a math problem mcdonalds executives are eager to take on.
i know the executives at mickey d’s have busy schedules.
i know they want to help people.
therefore i will do the math for them.
i guess the average town mcdonald’s serves is pop. 25,000.
so if we wanted to help one billion people, let’s see …
1,000,000,000 / 25,000 = 40,000 new mcdonald’s would cure world hunger. scientifically targeted locations, as only the mickey d’s mapping division can do.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:04 pmRep. Davis says, “Are there no prisons, are there no workhouses?”
Another Joe says, “Isn’t it time for another thread? I’m tired of you folks at TP constantly exposing the Republics for the stupid bozos that we are. You’re not being nice to us, and if you don’t stop, I’m going to hold my breath and kick my feet!”

June 21st, 2009 at 8:09 pmAnyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break.
**************************************************************
Ms. Davis is yet one more example of the fact that the term “compassionate conservative” seems to be, increasingly, an oxymoron. Hasn’t this woman ever heard the phrase “there but for the grace of God go I” — or better still, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” The cross she’s wearing in the photograph certainly seems to suggest that she views herself as a “good, God-fearin’, church-goin’ Christian woman”…she could stand to review her Bible, with particular emphasis on what Jesus had to say about the poor and the hungry. The Rich Man and Lazarus, maybe?
How likely does this woman think it is that 16-year-olds are going to have much luck finding summer jobs at McDonald’s when the recession means that they’re potentially competing with adults for these jobs — adults who have the advantage of work experience, including some who may have children of their own to support? (Memo to Rep. Davis — a free meal from McDonald’s might be better than nothing, but nobody would call it good nutrition and a steady diet of it carries potential health risks which may themselves be costly in the long run).
What about the majority of participants in the program — all the children under 16 who aren’t yet allowed to apply for jobs? What should they do? Davis seems to assume that the parents and guardians of these children must all be freeloading layabouts who don’t care about their children — but that by itself doesn’t make it so (and you know what they say about people who assume). It’s possible that at least some of them are holding down more than one job yet still hanging by their fingernails financially. As an example, some of them may be caring for their aging parents as well as their own children — that’s not unknown to happen. There are a lot of things which can strain a family financially — some of which result from a failure to plan ahead or from lack of personal responsibility, but certainly not all. Yes, it’s a good idea for people to increase their career skills and make themselves more marketable — but education likewise costs money and these days, even additional education doesn’t necessarily guarantee that one’s prospects will improve significantly. Unless or until Representative Davis has actually met and spoken with some of the people who depend on this program — which, with all due respect, it doesn’t sound as though she has done — she really has no right to judge them.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:12 pmNow you sound like Sean Hannity, and he sounds like a maniac. Aren’t you embarrassed to be a Republican? I would be.

June 21st, 2009 at 8:13 pmThere is something in the ventilation of the Republican House — how else could so many republicans be so ignorant, so cold, so willing to see their fellow human beings suffer –children??!!
If these people represent christianity, then it is no wonder that so many are turning away from the church — atheism is growing in America — these so-called christians make a mockery of christianity. WWJD?
May she and her ilk burn in eternity.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:14 pmtip for cynthia: keep your children shielded from the wrath of mcdonald’s, for the liberals may try to make them an example. keep your children away from there, you are a good mother. get them all shielded from the ground realities by getting them admitted to the university of virginia school of commerce.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:18 pmThat’s christianity at work for you. The MO electorate must be so proud of themselves.

Spoken by a woman who, guaranteed, as a girl, was never hungry.
Yeah, especially if you’re a kid and don’t have the ways and means to do anything about it.

Ironic, no?
June 21st, 2009 at 8:31 pmThis is not a Christian stance. Feeding the hungry is a basic Christian act as well as a humanitarian act. This lady must be surrounded by that paganism that has been surrounding Newt.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:38 pmyou need a referral for that. signed by you know who. (look up … waay up)
Why? There’s no one there.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:41 pmI will steal a line from Cheers:: “Too stupid to live!”
June 21st, 2009 at 8:45 pmThe astonishing thing is that there are still nearly 30% of the population who agree with these crazy people. Child hunger is a positive motivator??
She smiles her idiotic smile with her cross around her neck and spouts utter stupidity and there are people out there saying “you know, she has a point”.
Sad beyond belief.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:48 pmShit, then we can do away with those inconvenient school taxes. I hate taxes – don’t you cold?
i now hate taxes. back then when i was a kid they were of use but then i decided to close the door behind me. and trust me, i want all of her seven children to have a future high up without worries of the peasants on the ground. and you get to the top of the skyscraper by being admitted to the uva school of commerce. good luck, davis children. you won’t need it as upstanding republicans, but i’ll say it anyway just to stack on the benefits.
June 21st, 2009 at 8:58 pmOMG. That heartless b*tch.
June 21st, 2009 at 9:02 pmWhenever I read comments like these, I don’t even need to see an “R” with the state identifier after the name of the person who said them. Their party affiliation is obvious.
June 21st, 2009 at 9:05 pmThe government is people.
In 1970 I was 9 years old. My uncle had just returned from Viet Nam with a mohawk and some bad habits—not the man who left, at all.
I always appreciated school lunches. They were real meals with vegetables, meat, a bread, and beans or potatoes. I believe it was in the summer of 1970 that my family went through a time when we couldn’t afford much food. The neighbors very politely brought things by. It was painful though. I would never ask for food, no matter how hungry I was, because it would shame my parents. I’m guessing most poor Missouri kids are raised to think the same way about being helped.
It shocked me when I moved to this state—when I had a child in my care, there were some neighborhood children asking me for food before they had even properly met me. I don’t know if they were hungry or just accustomed to asking for things from anyone. I got in the habit of serving fruit and healthy snacks when kids came over to play so that they would have some fresh fruit and carbs if they needed it, and so they wouldn’t be asking for food.

Perhaps it has already been mentioned, but Missouri is another red welfare state – receives $1.29 for each dollar paid.
Balancing the fed dollars paid vs. received scales can be a great motivator, too, right RoundFace McChristCross?
PEACE
June 21st, 2009 at 9:46 pmI…I’m sorry, but you are hilarious. I cannot take you seriously at all. You sound like my mom after she’s downed a couple of Long Islands. You are just so utterly…you made soda come out of my nose, let’s just put it that way.
I’m going to FnF you, but not without saying you made my day, sir/ma’am/thing. So…yes.
As for this…woman….it is clear she has no conception of what it’s like to be hungry, having to beg for food for breakfast and lunch because we barely had enough for everyone. When I was growing up? There were years when that was what I had to do, and I got made fun of for it at school, on top of it being hard to concentrate when all you can think of is how hungry you are. And what was worse was that I didn’t qualify for free lunches because my dad made “too much” money as a major. All of it which was put to pay off a substantial debt because the military does not pay well.
So Senator Davis, uou clearly don’t know what it’s like to go hungry, and while I certainly don’t want to wish that on you, it’s clear you don’t know what you are talking about. So, I humbly ask you to shut up until you get your facts straight.
June 21st, 2009 at 10:03 pmShe’s just one more example of a conservative christian terrorist. I say we need to start random searches on the streets, these people just aren’t safe.
June 21st, 2009 at 10:06 pmOMG, what an insufferable b!tch.
If towns in MO are anything like my town this summer, there are no jobs. Period.
Eat that, Cynthia. It doesn’t look like you’ve missed too many meals…
June 21st, 2009 at 10:26 pmDidn’t there used to be a poster on TP who was big on shoving crosses us Xian rectal cavities/???
June 21st, 2009 at 10:26 pmHunger can be a great motivator.
Agreed.
But what does it motivate towards?
It does not motivate towards that conservative touchstone, deferred gratification.
It motivates towards getting what you desperately need, as quickly and directly as you can.
It motivates towards theft, bullying, extortion, violence and the behavior of the state of nature.
What is the driving ;principle of the jungle?
And do you want to live thre.
If this woman thinks that raw motivation is a good thing, she’s unimaginably sheltered.
Motivation breeds predators.
Hunger makes people steal silver candlesticks.
Hunger would work as a motivator if, like white rats, you made lunch contingent on doing your homework, or getting passing grades.
Disgusting–but she’s not even advocating that.
In her system, a child of 10 could be well behaved, smart, diligent at work–and still hungry at the end of the day. Go to school, learn, obey, act rightly–and the message is the truth: that Senator Davis’s society doesn’t give ash it about you. In six years you can get a job at McDonald’s.
So when that good ten year old gets a chance to deal crack to her schoolmates, will he take it? If she learns how to steal from neighbor’s houses, will she do it? if a gang gives the family food, will he join?
Hunger is, indeed, a great motivator.
June 21st, 2009 at 10:43 pmThe more I read, the more depressed I get. Thank you for Mrs. Davis’ e-mail address. I will be sending her a strongly worded letter.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:03 pmWhen that woman eventually dies, (either from old age or sheer evilness), she’ll stand at the Pearly Gate waiting to be admitted as the good Christian Republican she is. God will probably let her in but not until he explains that the price of admission is that she will be in the 98.6% tax bracket for all eternity. Then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if she opted to go to hell instead. After all, isn’t Satan giving out tax cuts? Plus, in hell she won’t be bothered by all those hungry little street urchin types. Just lots of other good Christian Republicans to socialize with in the firey lakes
June 21st, 2009 at 11:05 pmOne Iranian said that the reason people have risked their lives rioting in the streets is because they have been hungry
LITERALLY HUNGRY. Yeah, let them eat cake dumb byatch.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:12 pmDon’t you just love that crucifix this lady is wearing?
She is completely inconsistent and does not even understand the social gospel of the Judeo –Christian culture in which she allegedly revels.
One does not leave to charity to alleviate the suffering of the poor, especially if it is clear that charity is insufficient to the task. You are called to action to succor the poor and you ought to use the government because it achieves that goal as good as any.
We’re not talking about private charitable giving, but speaking of political choices and activism, and the passage from Matthew 25 does not apply only to acts of individual charity.
The proper view, the Christian view, is that you are individually held to account under Matthew 25 for your individual one-on-one acts of charity or lack thereof, but you are also individually held to account under Matthew 25 for how the actions you take influence your society in its treatment of the “least of these.”
In fact, Jesus sends to Hell the very people whose actions precisely fit those of people like this woman who today call themselves conservative Christians.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:16 pmCynthia needs to eat the shitty words that spew from her mouth.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:28 pmgood comments
sigh
why do some of the fiscal conservative legislators that like to tank social programs seem to forget they work for the government themselves.
if she wants the government to spend less we can start by slashing her salary from the budget. I’d much rather feed my neighbors kid then pay for her ignorance.
I love how her ideal supplemental is mcdonalds.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:34 pmI’d like to cite something very simple and very profound that wiley posted a little bit ago:
The pseudo-Christians who get their backs up about “the government” taking care of the poor conveniently forget this fundamental truth about our American system.
Ideally, The Government is not separate from The People. Thus, when The Government implements services in support of the least fortunate among us, that is no different than each individual citizen lending the aid that Jesus taught his disciples to offer.
I actually went on and cited Matthew 25:40 — I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ — but then I realized that kuvasz said pretty much the same thing in post 154.
June 21st, 2009 at 11:40 pmcold bairt, I know I am going to be sorry I asked, but why do you keep bringing up the Univ of Virginia?
Ralph, right. In a democracy, the government is the people. But if corporations run everything, then we don’t have a seat on the board.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:14 amConsidering that America is the most obese nation isn’t hunger not only a good motivator but also better for the over all health of our children?
Just Sayin’….
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:24 amNow I remember who Cynthia reminds me of — Our own assholierthanthou Daryll, the hateful self-proclaimed “Christian.”
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:26 amProud “American,” hunger is not good for any child.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:27 amIf we are an obese lazy country maybe she isn’t far of the mark with hard work and less food that all.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:29 am“most of the summer feeding program sites are actually hosted by churches”
Churches FTW.
P.S. only the illiterate, the ignorant, and the evil want to tax American churches in general.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:36 am#162
Childhood malnutrition has adverse consequences on both physical and psychological development. It can lead to medical difficulties later in life that will cost much more to treat than the cost of providing food.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:44 amThe fact that statistically we are an “obese lazy country” only makes hunger among children all the more tragic. It certainly doesn’t excuse it.
And I hafta say, “Proud American” certainly doesn’t describe his country in really prideful terms, does he?
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:46 amI was simply pointing out how idiotic her statements are. Seeing as we(America) supplies Countries like Russia with millions of tons of grain and millions of $$ of food each year, free of charge, can’t we simply divert those assets to feed the children without creating any “tax” burden or increased spending?
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:52 amHey Proud “American,” why not get to the root of the problem of hunger in one of the richest countries on the planet?
It’s always money with you idiots, isn’t it?
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:59 amMaybe educated and healthy countries like France can start sending free food to the hungry kids in the US.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:02 amI have no problem with spending money to feed children or adults. I do have a problem with feeding Russia or any other country first. So her major complaint is more spending I am saying that why not just stop giving to Russia and start giving to our children first?? whats wrong with that? Problem solved and she has nothing to complain about!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:03 am#169
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 amAmerica SELLS grain to Russia, it is not given away. Are you against capitalism?
May I ask why taxing churches is a bad thing? Considering churchgoers pay something akin to a ‘tax’ called a tithe every week they go to church, and the churches makes millions, if not billions, a year. (Case in point, how else could the Catholic Church have settled those multi-million dollar sex cases otherwise?) Much of that, especially in more conservative churches, have been shown to go to things raging from million-dollar homes for the church’s ‘founders’ and ‘preachers’ to tax shelters which allow the same people who claim to preach the word of the Bible – which decries accumulating such mass wealth for personal gain, mind you – to hide away millions of dollars that could be used for things like fighting poverty, or paying the national debt, or creating new jobs!
Before anyone says that it is unethical to tax clergy, I’d simply like to point out that if we want to show that we are a land with a more secular outlook, with a true separation of church and state, we should stop protecting the churches with ‘tax-free’ status. After all, if money is the root of all evil, why is it ok for religious institutions/churches to make so much money without repercussion?
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 amOk, you’re going to have to post some evidence that we’re sending free food to Russia.
I don’t have a problem with doing that, because starving is not good for Russian children either. I guess you don’t see how sick it is that you’d see Russian children starve.
Again, getting to the root of the problem would save a lot of money in the long run. But you don’t really care about that anyway.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:10 amAmerica sells SOME grain to russia and donates the rest. Plus what we sell is sold under the market value. All of which is against capitalism. So if we are virtually giving it away why not give it to our people?? seems a lot more logical to me
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:11 amProve it, Proud “American.” Just go ahead and prove it.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:12 am#173
MOSCOW, May 12 (RIA Novosti) – Russia will export a record amount of grain this agricultural year, the president of the Russian Grain Union said on Tuesday.
“We expect that before July 1 we’ll export over 20 million metric tons of grain and maybe even 21 million,” Arkady Zlochevsky said, adding that this would be a record for Russian grain exports.

June 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 amProud “American” can’t prove that the US sends free grain to Russia because we don’t.
Russia is one of the biggest grain EXPORTERS in the world.
What a f ucking moron you are, Proud “American.” I love messing with you idiots.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 amReggie got there first. Well done. ;)
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:24 amhere is the proof.

Nice try but your link is over ten years old but mine is from May of this year.

June 2009 buddy
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 amSorry, Proud American, but not only is your link outdated, it is completely disproved when you look at the statistics.
Russia, as far as can be shown, hasn’t been importing grain from us for seven years!
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 amand your link is also ten years old. It was a shock to Russia to go from communism to an al Capone-style capitalism.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 amYou make it sound like we are giving food aid to Russia NOW, which is false.
Um, PA, the date for this article is August 24, 1921.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:32 amSo let me get this straight. You do not want to help our children?? and what does Reagan have to do with this?? he was and is and idiot.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:32 amPer capita, our aid to the world is quite small. Smaller than Western Europe.
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:32 am#183
Now you are being an idiot, the NYT link is from 1921.

I’m no expert but in my humble opinion PA reached critical mass and exploded. Pity the poor individual who has to clean up the mess in mommies basement.

We’re dealing with a cold rationalize-er here. But she is fundimentally wrong. It’s a known fact of wisdom that well fed brains learn better.
Republicans = heartless Zombies.
June 22nd, 2009 at 2:36 amNo, this woman is living proof that neoconservatives haven’t a clue as to the teachings of Christ. If she actually took the time to read what Jesus said, she’d know how anti-Christian her cold, callous indifference really is.
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Matthew 25:41-46
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:01 amso sayeth a representative who will probably never have to worry about child hunger in her family…
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:16 amThe program provides “food during the summer for thousands of low-income Missouri children who rely on the school cafeteria for free or reduced-price meals during the regular school year.” Davis, who serves as the chairwoman of the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families, questioned whether the program is “warranted,” and extolled the hidden benefits of child hunger:
Jeebzus!! This idiot should be strung up by that cross she has around her neck….obviously she doesn’t know what it means. This is the reason I got out of Missouri..I grew up there….it seems to be full of half-wits like her who have no compassion for anyone and are a bunch of religious nuts. It seems fitting the gov is named Blunt….must have been hit with a blunt instrument. When I lived there, at least there were some Truman Democrats….now it seems full of redneck wingnuts. Praise the Lord!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:49 amTip: if you work at McDonald’s, and you’re eating for free, you’re stealing food and will likely be fired. Not that you’d be healthy if all you did was eat McD’s daily.
June 22nd, 2009 at 7:43 amAny time a politico worries about the cost of human services, I get the notion that they are really worried about what is is taking out of their grafty pockets. Furthermore, do all Nazi whores wear a cross and a silly grin?
June 22nd, 2009 at 8:52 amWhat right has that woman to wear a cross? Jesus would have whiped her until his arm hurted.
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:10 amThis woman is showing herself to be a true Sociopath.
Sociopaths do not have, and thus cannot understand or relate to the very human emotion of empathy. She should NOT be in a position to make decisions about anything relating to the needs of, or problems of real people.
She’s an inhumane and amoral monster – a human aberration.
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:30 am*
Evil Spaniard, since Jesus was a pacifist, I think he might have simply settled for a very stern tongue-lashing. ;)
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:47 amI agree with nothing but the truth and this truth speaks for its self. her words are just as powerful as her actions and actions speak loader than words . but just the same she is at least honest about her motives, a true neoconservative. how do you hide from this as a republican. ??? you don’t you come out and act as if everything you stand for is honky dory. these as* wipes make me sick.no logic just trickery and psychology to round up more fullish redneck sheeple.
June 22nd, 2009 at 10:31 amNothing quite as compelling as a fat chick talking about hunger as a motivator
June 22nd, 2009 at 10:57 amWell she should be more than proud of those in the ghetto who chose drug dealing over collecting welfare. I don’t know her back ground but it seems like the more privileged these snot nosed asses are,the more likely they have the “pull yourself up by the boot strap mentality”.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:11 amWhat the h*ll is wrong with this woman? She appears to be as stupid as her male counterparts. Let’s have her go hungry for a couple of weeks and then ask her how she really feels. She should not be on ANY boards or anything else.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:19 amShe should be ashamed of herself. People like her are the reason we have so many problems.
Jebus dude, start your own damn blog and talk about anything you want. Then you won’t be forced to come here and be so annoyed about what is going on (or not) here.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:33 amProud American Says:
Considering that America is the most obese nation isn’t hunger not only a good motivator but also better for the over all health of our children?
Just Sayin’….
That has got to be one of the most inane comments I’ve ever read on this site. Or are you Colbert posing as a troll?
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:35 am“Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer…”
Except they can’t, that’s why they take part in the Federal and State programs that provide food for the kids who come to these summer programs while their parents are working. These programs take the place of school and like school they have free lunch and sometime free breakfast for poor kids.
Me thinks Rep Davis and her husband need to loose their ways of making an income so they can learn what it is like to try and feed 7 kids daily on food stamps and what she can get out of the garden…that is until they lose their home and have to go live in section 8 housing.
The best quote is this:
”While I have not seen this as a problem in my district, it is entirely possible that the (summer feeding) program is designed to address problems that exist in other parts of Missouri,” Ms. Davis says in her newsletter.”
As if there are no poor families in O’Fallon or folks who have lost their jobs at the GM plant?
Clueless.
Of course I think what she is really saying is “we have no blacks or wetbacks here so there is no one who would be sucking off the taxpayers of this great state.”.
what a heartless wench….
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:37 amP.S. only the illiterate, the ignorant, and the evil want to tax American churches in general.
Then I guess that would be me. I think churches should pay taxes on all property that is not part of the actual church. So no property tax on all the parish buliding, but all that retal property they own…tax it.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:45 amI think that pastors who make more then $60,000 a year should be paying taxes (maybe they do?) too. Around here, in the South, if one works for the right Baptist or Evangelical church you can make a pretty cushy salary.
Hunger is definitely a motivator…
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:53 amUnfortunately it is often a motivator for not very good reasons.
If one were hungry and had no recourse from available methods of obtaining food, what would one do?
What has been shown time and again is crime (in our opinion, in other animals it’s simply the idea of: “I’ve got to get food!”). If I can’t make enough money to pay for food then I’d steal it.
If I can’t find enough food then I’d kill to get it.
It’s pretty basic if you think about it.
Humans have to try to support themselves, regardless of how it might effect others around us. It’s a measure of our societal evolution that has allowed us to even consider this idea and find it unacceptable.
blackwidow I can think of two local churches that own property “that is not part of the actual church.” One is a house where the two priests live and the other is a small grove of trees with a mini playground at it’s base.
PS Church employees already pay taxes as do ministers.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:23 pmI looked over website and she states,”This program could have an unintended consequence of diminishing parental involvement. Why have meals at home with your loved ones if you can go to the government soup kitchen and get one for free? This could have the effect of breaking apart more families” Really? Who would rather have a meal at a soup kitchen when they could have a home cooked meal at home? Even if it is free? “Grab the kids, honey. We’re goin to the soup kitchen!” Sheesh
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:45 pmExcellent catch.
I worked at McDonald’s when I was in school and they charged for meals. We got a discount sure, but meals were charged. Not free.
What this catch of yours shows is just how out of touch the elite neoconservatives are with regards to the common man and the difficulty of earning a living from a job that doesn’t pay a living wage.
June 22nd, 2009 at 2:02 pmI took Wayne A. Schneider’s advice and sent this portly woman an e-mail telling her what I thought of her statement. She probably ate it.
June 22nd, 2009 at 2:15 pmProud American: “..If we are an obese lazy country maybe she isn’t far of the mark with hard work and less food that all…”
June 22nd, 2009 at 4:09 pmSo, P.A. what do you do for a living, something mega-strenuous? And when your 12-hour workday is over I am certain you skip your evening meal and skip off to another grueling job. And if YOU can work 2 demanding jobs, why can’t all those “hungry” children, those lazy slobs living on Domino’s pizza and Beefaroni on sale at the dollar tree.
LET’S SEE HOW MOTIVATED SHE IS WHEN SHE’S HUNGRY. Maybe cutting her salary is how the budgets get balanced!!!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 7:47 pmGuess my post frightend the anti-church mob into silence.
June 22nd, 2009 at 8:02 pm“she is living proof that christianity died on the cross.”
What? How can the words and/or actions of a single woman indicate anything about an entire religion?
What a ridiculous “thought.”
June 22nd, 2009 at 8:52 pmI’m not surprised by her comments. Variations on a [Republican] theme.
June 22nd, 2009 at 8:53 pmIt’s very charitable of you CatherineBlake to call that a “thought.”
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:30 pmI work in southwest Missouri, and I can guarantee that the folks whose children receive the meals are the same people who will gladly, and blindly, vote this knucklehead back into office again and again. I know, I know, it makes no sense, but then when you understand that these people believe Moses had a few T-Rexes on the ark… well, what can you say… stupid is as stupid does… and the children suffer for it…
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:50 pmMs. Davis must have a mistranslated Bible. Mine says that Jesus said the souls who go to heaven will be the ones who saw that “I was hungry and you fed me.” Apparently hers quotes him as saying “I was hungry and you motivated me.”
June 22nd, 2009 at 10:06 pmI suggest everyone outraged by this ridiculous assertion send Rep. Cynthia Davis a McDonald’s Happy Meal by the slowest shipping means possible to make certain it is ripe by the time it arrives. Here is her office address.
201 W. Capitol Ave., Room 112, Jefferson City, MO 65101
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:13 pmSomeone may have already mentioned this (my apologies,
if so)..
But how many 2 year old children can work?
How many 5 year old children can work?
How many 8 year old children can work?
10.. 11.. 12..
They can ALL BE HUNGRY!
This woman is heartless. Cruel. Mean. Oh,
June 23rd, 2009 at 12:11 amand Stupid!
Amazing that anyone makes such a stupid statement. When I was 4, my father died. That was about 72 years ago. Now, I realize that younger people simply cannot understand that some had the sad experience of being always hungry. It had nothing to do with laziness, lack of planning and the usual hateful statement that being hungry just does not happen in the US unless osme one is just lazy. Sad to say, during the depression, we did not have enough food. Eventually we went to the fields where food was harvested and my mom and all of her children gleaned and my mother canned every thing we picked. It is amazing that so many lack the ability to be compassionate when folks are in deep trouble. I must say, wonderful neighbors were able to assist us and we truly appreciated their generosity. But emphatically, let me say that ee were NEVER lazy although we were always hungry.
June 23rd, 2009 at 12:46 amThe Talibangelical is proudly wearing her cross in the photo! Good little Talibangelical! Folks, these are the same people who want to turn our government into a theocracy with a message “G-d loves the rich!” and the poor and marginalized are evil…
Welcome to the buckle of the bible belt!
June 23rd, 2009 at 1:06 amI think I’m in agreement with you cowboyneok.
I will never understand those who claim to be Christian yet seem to have only read the darkest parts of the Old Testement.
June 23rd, 2009 at 2:31 amoops… my mistake… it was Noah’s ark… not the other guy… was doing 4 things at once while typing that comment… came across sorta stoopid myself in that, but, at least — unlike the repugs — I admit when I’m wrong, and try to correct my mistake… anyhow, yeah, I work in southwest Missouri, where everyone hates “the gummint”, but where everyone needs, waits for, wants, their “monthly check”… lots of inbred people around here, lots of young people on social security disability because work is “too stressful”… yet, they won’t admit that the “gummint” fixes the roads, street lights, street signs, assures drinkable water… you know, all that unnecessary stuff… after all, there are lots of folks out in the woods around here who manufacture meth, rape kids, steal whatever they can… and they think this lady pol makes absolute sense… I’ll never forget the memorial service I went to in Oklahoma (another ignorant state) where the preacher-man said, “Jesus don’t want no educated people. He don’t like no book-smart folks.” And, every day, such speculation is proven to me again and again… even by educated folks like nurses and doctors, but folks who buy in to the right-wing rhetoric… I don’t understand how the rational part of their brains turns off when they buy in to the Faux News lies… but, it happens… and, I’m sure they, too, agree with this lady pol, while they “tsk, tsk” the bony, growth-stunted, malnourished children, who come to the ER…
June 23rd, 2009 at 3:35 pmanother hypocritical republican calling president obama Hitler but she acts as Hilter herself declaring she knows something about underprivileged children in her state??? Cynthia I wonder how long you have suffered from mental retardation??? You and all your cronnie republican friends need to shut up because if you don’t the chances of winning in 2012 become slimmer and slimmer!! I actually hope that nuts like you keep talking so we can have another term for President Obama and the congress goes more democratic. At this point with the big imbalance in reps we really don’t need people like you. Your making yourselves extinct and certainly pray for that everyday.
