33 journalists jailed in Iran.
The media advocacy group Reporters Without Borders reports today that Iran is now the “world’s biggest prison for journalists,” with “a total of 33 journalists and cyber-dissidents in its jails.” At least 20 journalists have been arrested since June 12. The New York Times adds that the Iranian government continues to “block all coverage of protests and the security crackdown” and has ordered the BBC’s reporter to leave the country. “[O]ther news organization said they were ordered by the authorities not to report on events on the streets.”

There are also no doubt ways to get past the censors with illegal connections – and it’s becoming pretty clear that no matter what Iran tries, there are signs that this is a real revolution, especially if they are bringing in foreign nationalists to try and bully the crowds.

June 21st, 2009 at 10:39 pmQuite honestly, I think the seeming lack of response is very likely the main response we’re going to get at the moment, possibly (and I may be wrong on this, but we’ll see) due to the fact that if the Islamic Republic falls, then 1) the only Shi’te-based form of government will also fail, which will cause some upheaval between Shi’te and Sunnis around the world, and 2) it may also cause, if Iran is fully secularized, a LOT of upheaval in countries that follow strict sharia or claim to do so.
In other words, I think they’re holding their breath.

If you were born in 1901 and requested a copy of your birth record, you are not going to get an old, frayed document. Since we do not know the details of the grandmother’s health or the conversations that preceded Obama’s departure to Hawaii, no one can intelligently critique his behavior. If my grandson was campaigining to be President, I think I would let him slide knowing that he had already made me proud when he became Senator.

Even if this is a valid cerificate of live birht, Obama was never repatriated after losing his citizenship. His father claimed him as a citizen of Indonesia in order for him to attend school there when only citizens could attend. If he is a citizen of Indonesia, he had to be repatriated here in order to be President.

I dare you to do this: Order a copy of your birth certificate from the state where you were born. Then tell us what it looks like. Obviously, you have NO experience with such documents. NO ONE gets their original birth certificate — NO ONE. That stays on file in Vital Statistics, and you get a certified copy. That’s what Obama got. There’s not a Vital Stats clerk on this planet who would jeopardize their job and reputation by faking something like that.
