It's amazing to see this reprobate Buchanan, without let or hindrance, spew his hatred for any and everybody who are no like him, even on the so-branded "Liberal MSNBC". I can only hope this piece of sh it, and the others of his ilk, will not be long for this sphere.

Spanish is no threat to English-speakers, so xenophobia is misguided.

The age-old pesky U.S.-Mexico border problem has taxed the resources of both countries, led to long lists of injustices, and appears to be heading only for worse troubles in the future. Guess what? The border problem can never be solved. Why? Because the border IS the problem! It's time for a paradigm change.

Never fear, a satisfying, comprehensive solution is within reach: the Megamerge Dissolution Solution. Simply dissolve the border along with the failed Mexican government, and megamerge the two countries under U.S. law, with mass free 2-way migration eventually equalizing the development and opportunities permanently, with justice and without racism, and without threatening U.S. sovereignty or basic principles.

To read the details, Google "Megamerge Dissolution Solution".

<em>It is not racism, but reality. If an American goes to a foreign country, they take their language dictionary for whatever country they are in or their hand held translator. The people coming to America from Mexico, South America, Central America or expect America to adjust to them instead of them adjusting to America. This should be an English first country and ANYONE that wants to live, work and stay here should be required to learn and speak English. We should not have to change forms and procedures those who refuse to learn. In fact they should not even be allowed to apply for citizenship until they can speak and read English. -- LVDragonLady</em>

***********************************************************

With all due respect, LVDL...do you have any idea how hard it is to learn English? English is considerably more difficult to learn than a good many other languages -- largely due to the fact that modern English incorporates words borrowed from other languages. English grammar is very inconsistent when it comes to such things as plurals, pronunciation, and verb tenses. As an example, consider the following English words -- bough, cough, enough, though, and through. Each one uses the same basic dipthong of "o-u-g-h"...and yet each one of these words is pronounced differently. If memory serves (and it usually does), this is something you quite simply don't see in Spanish -- or indeed, in many other languages -- where the same set of letters is always pronounced exactly the same way. Think this might make it harder for someone? I would.

It also takes a long time for any person learning a second language to develop true fluency since most native speakers rely much more than even they themselves realize on slang, idiom, and colloquialism -- and these almost never translate well from one language to another, since they often mean something different than what the words literally imply. For that matter, let's talk about legalese -- a language which is hard enough even for native English speakers to understand! Can you imagine how difficult it might be trying to decipher something as confusing as that when English is not your native language -- especially when your paperback Whatever-To-English dictionary doesn't even include many of the more specialized terms? Did that thought ever occur to you?

It's also a well-established fact that young people generally find it much easier to learn a new language than older people do. This is at least one of the reason -- if not the reason -- why you see many immigrant families with parents and/or grandparents who don't speak English well (if at all) while the first generation of children born here usually don't have trouble speaking English.

Finally, if you really believe that most Americans who travel outside the US really make much of an effort to speak other languages, I suggest you get that thought out of your head right now. The stereotype of the "Ugly American" exists for a reason...one of those reasons being the fact that a good many Americans still don't make much effort to speak the language of the countries they're visiting -- with or without pocket translators -- and still do expect other people to accommodate them. Fortunately for them, English is by now spoken in many parts of the world -- in part because people in those countries have made an effort to learn another language, something which the majority of Americans have not done. Unfortunately, the fact that English is spoken in many parts of the world has also encouraged many Americans to be lazy when it comes to traveling overseas -- and it's not a point in our favor.

Racism is ugly no matter the person expressing it. Pat Buchanan is always making these hate-filled racist remarks. Amazing that Fox still gives him a program where he can blab his hatred, People like Pat Buchanan are so great in carrying on racism. Sad that he misunderstands his Catholicism so much that he feels he is excused from even handed behavior on the race issue. But alas, his long history of overt racism is there for all to see.

This just infuriates me. These people love to scream about how inclusive they are, yet they have the audacity to lecture on how to lure white and <strong>yellow</strong> people? My husband, who is Chinese, said, "What Asian person in their right mind is going to join a party in which its leaders refer to them as 'yellow people'?"

Good God.

I'm sick and tired of seeing Pat on MSNBC, too. I haven't seen him on Hardball in a while. Have they finally realized what a f^^king pig he is?

I always get a kick out of those Texans who complain about "furriners" who can't speak English. We have a constant rumble of complaints from parents because Johnny and Susie Bonehead can't understand what their TA is saying during lecture. Then when you ask Johnny or Susie have they have to say about the situation, it turns out that you practically need a translator to get their responses. The East Texans are the worst but there are others as well. I remember listening to one good ol' boy TA from North Texas talking about "higher" in lecture and it was a good month before I figured out that he was referring to the stuff that grows out of a mammal's skin.

And don't even get me started on Mainiacs.

I remember listening to one good ol’ boy TA from North Texas talking about “higher” in lecture and it was a good month before I figured out that he was referring to the stuff that grows out of a mammal’s skin.

And don’t even get me started on Mainiacs.

<em>Brimelow has defended accusations that he writes and publishes white supremacist material by declaring his content to be merely "white nationalist."</em>

************************************************************

"You say toh-MAY-toh, I say toh-MAH-toh..." If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck -- guess what, folks??? It's probably a duck.

Puh-leeeeeeeeze...who does Brimelow really think he's fooling? He's free to call his material whatever he likes, of course -- he can call it a head of lettuce for all that I care -- but it makes no real difference in the end since he's still talking about the same thing. As Vice President Cheney once said, "you can put lipstick on a pig -- but it's still a pig." Changing the name of a thing in order to make it sound like something different still doesn't change the fundamental essence of the thing one iota. Brimelow's claim that he's a "white nationalist" rather than a "white supremacist" is nothing more than a convenient, self-serving euphemism on his part. It doesn't change the fact that he's a racist any more than a combat general referring to civilian deaths in wartime as "collateral damage" makes said civilians any less human or himself any less responsible for their deaths. It's just an exercise in self-justification...nothing more.

When old Pat shows up for his TV Gig dressed in a white hood and holding a cross, will MSNBC finally get rid of him?

Don't make a fuss over the spelling or they will try to have the way THEY spelled it put in all the dictionaries, because, you know, they are always right and they will find some way for the middle and poor class tax payers to pay for the change.

I skipped all the other posts, so if I'm a repeat (which I'm sure I am) I apologize.

I just wanted to make note of the incredible irony, and mention that an incredible learning opportunity has been lost by the decision of someone to not stand up and tell these people that they may be more effective in their arguments if they themselves learned to speak English before demanding that everyone else do the same.

But then, it would no doubt have fallen on deaf ears. Alas.

FreeMarketLiberal Says

How much does the Unioncratic Party and Jim Jones Soros dump into this Conservative smear "Stink Tank"? I see a college education doesn't provide dignity nor does it cure a bad case of linear thinking.

Looking at the panel behind this garbage reminds me of that movie "Revenge of The Nerds"
___________________________________________________________

Interesting. This poster spews insults but provides no evidence to back them up. I can only assume he has some bizarre need to hurl invective and doesn't feel the need for any of it to make sense.

"Unioncratic Party"? I suppose the Democratic Party has shown far more support for labor unions (and laborers in general) than the Republican Party has, but why is this an insult?

"Jim Jones Soros"? I don't see the connection between George Soros and Jim Jones -- perhaps someone can help me out here? It appears to be just random baseless conflation.

A "Conservative smear Stink Tank"? Um...I believe a "smear" is when one tells (or suggests) lies about an opponent. While I admit TP sometimes twists things unnecessarily in their headlines, they're pretty good about sticking to the truth and quoting people verbatim.

And then there are the usual insults about the intelligence of the TP staff, although I admit the slam about their physical appearance is new.

I'm always amazed at people who come here and whine about the site. It's a site dedicated to the progressive point of view -- a perspective TP has never tried to hide (unlike media who claim to be "fair and balanced" while pushing an ideological agenda).

At least some trolls attempt to make some kind of lame point about the topic of the thread. Some conservative posters make intelligent points (but I don't call those posters trolls). This one just feels obligated to take a crap and leave, which surely puts him at the bottom of the dungheap.

Why do they do this? Is it for a cheap thrill? Are they getting paid to do this? Do they truly not know how to Google for sites that reflect their kind of thinking? It truly makes one marvel at how some people truly need to get a life.

It occured to me the other night that our concern trolls like Joe and Hanshiro sound very familiar. They say the usual:</em>

The form letter I really enjoy is the ones that start out:

"Golly, I don't know anything about all them politics, but I have an open mind and one day decided to weigh all of the evidence from both sides equally. In my open-minded opinion, it seems obvious to me that Obama was born in Keny and sent to the U.S. as a sleeper mole for the Weather Underground to turn us all into Muslims..."
