Maryland GOP group: ‘Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common.’

Today, former TP member Judd Legum reports that the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County, “one of Maryland’s most prominent Republican organizations,” has launched a vicious attack on President Obama. Featured prominently on the front page of the group’s website is a letter from RWAAC President Joyce E. Thomann, who explicitly equates Obama with Hitler:

Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common in my view. Obama and Hitler use the “blitzkrieg” method to overwhelm their enemies. FAST, CARPET BOMBING intent on destruction. Hitler’s blitzkrieg bombing destroyed many European cities – quickly and effectively. Obama is systematically destroying the American economy and with it AMERICA. First the banking/investment industry, next private enterprise (GM and Chrysler) and now HEALTH CARE. And he is working on grabbing more of the American economy with his environmental extremism!

We too CAN fight back. Contact everyone you know. Start a blitzkrieg of our own. Shut down the Capitol switchboards and the White House switchboards! Say NO to the Obamination of Obama Care!

    – - Maryland’s own Michael Steele must be SO proud. Is anyone naive enough to believe he wasn’t aware of this before it went public?

The GOP is wallowing in the thick stench of its rotting corpse and keeps piling on the bodies.

Wouldn’t the act of shutting down the Capitol and White House switchboards be considered acts of domestic terrorism?

Round up the GNOP beotch and throw her pasty white (and no doubt, plump!) ass in jail for the night. Let’s see how popular her Hitler talk is there.

These Maryland GNOPers are a nasty bunch, and none of them too bright.

    1) People who “use the “blitzkrieg” method to overwhelm their enemies” are like Hitler.
    2) Let’s “start a blitzkrieg of our own.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

  7. ranus69 says:

This is so laughable what these “peon” of a brain are doing. It wouldn’t be the first attack. But what gets me the most is that the “sickly” GOP will always have their people vote against their own self-interest.

  8. ShadowBoxer says:

Being that here in MD we have produced some schmucks in the GOP, I’m embarrassed. However, most of the people here are liberal leaning. Thank jeezis.

Anne Arundel Co. is a rather wealthy area, hence, likely the congregation of greedy repubs.

  11. vinylspear says:

Ben Stein made a similar analogy about Obama and Hitler when Obama made his speech in an open air stadium and the GOP reacted (quite predictably) the same way.
They are very quick to use screwy equivocative reasoning to draw thin and tenuous arguments that really have no point, other than the fact they can wench and moan.
Republicans wenching and moaning is a lot going to the bathroom, you feel better when you do it but, I am really not interested in the details.

Continual fear tactics are making this nation numb. Stop with the belief you have to use such explosive terms to try to push an agenda, or to push against an agenda.

The GOP is pushing itself into permanent minority status if not complete extinction with their constant flinging of fear.

  16. Zimzone says:

Are we sure Joyce E. Thoman isn’t Michael Steele’s ‘other identity’?

Instead of a man of steel flying over in a cape, we have Michael Steele, flying over in a skirt.

Michael, when you’re saving the GOP world, be sure to wear underwear when flying.

  17. Purple State says:

Stretch the facts as far as you can without breaking it, and you can make comparisons between modern figures and past notorious leaders. Obama and Hitler, Bush and Hitler, Limbaugh and Hitler…I’m sure the comparisons are there if people dare to make them.

That doesn’t mean they are justifiable in their comparison.

I never liked it when people tried to tie Bush to Hitler, and I certainly hate the modern associations between Obama and Hitler. Let’s work together to help America, people, not against it!

  18. Another Joe says:

Glad the festival of ignorance is in full swing – I knew you could find some backwash for distraction and obscurantism.

Meanwhile, here’s an interesting post at hullabalu:

Something fairly interesting happened today. It doesn’t mean we will get a public health insurance option to compete with the insurance industry, but it doesn’t exactly hurt. Apparently some Democrats thought that if they only watered down such a public option to nothing, they would get that vaunted bipartisan support, and everybody could go back to their districts and claim they did something when they in fact would have done nothing. But as those of us who have been observing this have known for some time, these aren’t your father’s Republicans, or your grandfather’s, or any other relative. They are the rump conservative party, openly hostile to using government for any means other than profit-taking, and preferring to tell their constituents “good luck” instead of making any tangible difference to their struggles. And somehow, Democrats just discovered this.

  19. Badmoodman says:

    Shorter MD GOP:

    – - Apparently the Maryland GOP is unfamiliar with the Powell (Colin) Doctrine which states using overpowering, lightning quick miitary force to defeat the enemy. They also seem to be unfamiliar with “shock and awe” tactics.

  20. spencers mom says:

The non-negotiable criteria, he said, are that reform should drive down costs and cover the un- and underinsured. He declined, though, to put the public option in this category, saying that he feels strongly about certain provisions and will take those concerns up with members of Congress individually.

Even at least half of the registered repugs support this! If healthcare fails, it will only be because folks decide to pander to the backwash and use it as an excuse to subvert the will of the people.

Emboldened By Apparent Public Backing For “Public Option”, Democrats May Drop Attempt To Compromise

CBS/AP) Emboldened by polls that show public backing for a government health insurance plan, Democrats are moving to make it a politically defining issue in the debate over the future of medical care.

Amazing with part of the mainstream media that “catapulted the propaganda” for dur chimpfurher beats out TP with meaningful coverage of this issue.

Single-Payer — A Plan to be Embraced, Not Feared

The health care debate has taken on an enigmatic quality for me. From President Obama to Senator Baucus to the Republicans to callers on C- Span I hear how proposed legislation will result in “health care reform”- –or NOT. How much the President and Senator Kennedy’s plan will cost the taxpayer over the next 10 years according to the Congressional Budget Office–$1 trillion. And, Senator Baucus’ plan–$1.5 trillion.

  124. WAYNEBRO says:

Wow, thanks Amanda. A thread made for me.

    :D

First off, lets just be clear that this is a “reverse psychology” ploy by the neocon right.

The striking similarities between the Bush\Cheney regime and the rise of the Third Reich are astounding. Unfortunately early on the only ones recognizing it were the MoveOn.org crowd, which tainted the comparisons not because they were wrong but simply because of the image of them thanks mostly to an Anti-Moveon campaign by the GOP.

But the similarities were nonetheless real and astounding.

Both Hitler and Bush\Cheney capitalized on a “terrorist” event to invade and occupy a country incapable of defending itself against them. Both Hitler and Bush\Cheney used the same event to restrict civil liberties and create new, oppressive anti-democratic laws in their own country. Bush with his “Patriot Act” and Hitler with his “Enabling Act”.

And both men used the guise of manifest destiny to purport their unilateral right to invade and occupy any nation, oppress their people and others, and to use “whatever means necessary to protect the homeland”, even though the “homeland” wasn’t under attack.

So what these comparisons of President Obama to Hitler are, are reverse tactics designed to weaken the comparisons of Bush\Cheney to Hitler, and make them seem like simple partisan bickering, rather than the historically accurate comparisons they are when speaking of Bush\Cheney, and current GOP philosophy which mirrors fascism.

  131. Another Joe says:

Or maybe our little social club of maryland GOP backwash should be given this link – maybe they don’t actually have anything to get themselves in a hissy over:

Obama the Collaborator is letting naysayers neuter health-care fix

There is no health-care debate in the United States. There’s not even a debate over principles. You’d think a nation intent on overhauling a broken system that presidents going back to Harry Truman have been trying to fix would want to openly discuss what it wants — universal care? Single-payer? A private-public combination? Nationalized insurance? Nationalized care? All very different things. None is being aired in congressional hearings and town hall meetings, with one exception: tinkering with more of what we have now.

  132. WAYNEBRO says:

And now for the absurdity of this claim.

At no time in history, and in no books I’ve read, no encyclopedia’s, not even in my copy of “Mein Kampf”, do we see Hitler ever offering the people “Free Health Care Coverage” as part of his programs for the Third Reich.

Unless of course you want to include the “free” medical experiments Doctor Mengele and the other Nazi doctors performed on the Jews in Auschwitz and the other death camps.

    :|

But I’m pretty sure those “plans” didn’t include an “opt out” option.

  133. Hoodathunktick says:

  134. Another Joe says:

Someone should send this link to that little group of maryland ladies that occasionally meet for tea:

Are Negotiations Over The Co-Op Compromise Falling Apart?

It’s obviously a big deal that Sen. Chuck Schumer is suggesting that Democrats may need to move forward without significant Republican support if the GOP can’t come to some sort of accommodation with the public plan. But I think people are focusing too much on Schumer’s comments on the public plan and not enough on the insight he’s offering into the negotiations happening on the Finance Committee.

  137. Another Joe says:

But don’t let them see this one – they will surely call him some derogatory name:

Conrad Moves Closer To Public Health Care After Negotiations

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) moved sharply toward public health care Monday, saying that he could “absolutely” support major parts of Sen. Chuck Schumer’s compromise proposal for a public option after closed-door negotiations.

Conrad has backed a health care co-op proposal that advocates of a public option have thoroughly rejected. Schumer (D-N.Y.) took their side on Sunday in comments made to the Associated Press. “I don’t think I could say with a straight face that this [co-op proposal] is at all close to a nationwide public option,” Schumer said. “Right now, this co-op idea doesn’t come close to satisfying anyone who wants a public plan

  138. WAYNEBRO says:

And before someone points out the national health coverage under Germany, allow me to remind you that that existed long before Hitler came to power. It was abused by Hitler to control the population, primarily the “inferior races”, but national health care in Germany came into existent under Bismark, about half a century prior to the rise of the “little Corporal”.

  139. Another Joe says:

My guess is they won’t like Paul Krugman either:

    Health Care Showdow

America’s political scene has changed immensely since the last time a Democratic president tried to reform health care. So has the health care picture: with costs soaring and insurance dwindling, nobody can now say with a straight face that the U.S. health care system is O.K. And if surveys like the New York Times/CBS News poll released last weekend are any indication, voters are ready for major change.

The question now is whether we will nonetheless fail to get that change, because a handful of Democratic senators are still determined to party like it’s 1993.

Perhaps this is why they are flakin’ out with the hitler crap.

Surely our little bridge club group of GOPers won’t want to see this and HEAVEN FORBID anyone on this board follow this link much less think that action is more important than pounding on the keyboard:

    Campaign For Health Care Choice

Nothing is more important to the American people than passing health care reform that reduces costs and provides security and coverage for everyone. The economy and the nation’s competitiveness will not recover if this isn’t done and this may be our last chance to get it done for another generation. Since single payer was taken off the table before the debate even started, the only way to reduce costs and increase coverage is to create a quality public plan choice that will keep the insurance companies relatively honest.

The main feature of this disorder is the presence of delusions, which are unshakable beliefs in something untrue.

Racist, ignorant, stupid, hysterical– so many terms to describe this hateful lying group of Repubs. Anyone with any knowledge of the atrocities committed by Hitler, the millions he killed, must be absolutely appalled by this absurd comparison by the GOP. The GOP gets sicker each day.

    Give it a rest jackass.

Wouldn’t the act of shutting down the Capitol and White House switchboards be considered acts of domestic terrorism?

Yes. It is also an act of war.

This is every bit as appalling as those who compared living under the Bush administration to living in Nazi Germany.

  187. Robt says:

Just look at Obama and Hitler side by side.

Isn’t it obvious that they are related?

How do people say such idiotic comments without any real substansive evidence and not get laughed out of town?

  188. Parlezvous says:

I’ll bet that Ms. Thoman is on Medicare. As for “carpet bombing”, I believe that to be an American invention of destruction.

    Remember that smokers suck butts.

I wonder why they took their website down. Also, post a list of businesses their husbands or their own so I can NEVER NEVER use their services!! Say what you really mean! This going around the real reason they despise this President is really really funny!

James Von Brunn lives in Ann Arundel Co too. I see a pattern.

  191. bwindrip says:

As a resident of AA County, I thought it appropriate to send this comment along to the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County website:

“Democrats everywhere must be applauding your hyperbolic Hitler analogy.

While the republican party may not be deceased, you have proven beyond a doubt that it is brain-dead.”

The message came back because their inbox is full.

    (Good.)

Ah POOR TARD, the GOP *DID* execute *MANY* MEASURES of Nazi Germany and would have DONE MORE if UNOPPOSED. But NO ONE said the GOP was as *COMPETENT* as the NAZIS at your LAME *SSED FASCISM! You TEABAGISTAN FREAKS were so INEPT that even some of the DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS PEOPLE you ILLEGALLY WIRETAPPED FOUND OUT! ;)

Hey rhf, (”MizzJ, rhf has always been a nutcase. He’s just always been on our side, so he was tolerable. Now he’s a Clinton ass sucker, and he can’t contain himself against the “hopium” smokers. What an idiot.”)

How’s it going, bud? Of course, I wasn’t referring to you. You obviously suffered as much under Bush as did any of those whiners who lived under Hitler. You are to be commended for how you’ve managed to escape with your sanity in tact. ;)

    republicans hate facts Says:

So upright left admits the GOP is *STUPID* for their COMMENTS… Too FUNNY! ;)

Bud, you know I realize that you are a little slow on the uptake as a result of the suffering you endured under Bush, so I’m happy to remind you that, of course, the far right is as foolish as the far left.;)

Maryland GOP group: ‘Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common.’

Yeah, right. Hitler would have gassed Obama in a second for being brown, progressist, and american.

These women are a disgrace to women everywhere and make the rest of us look bad. It is women like this who hampered the woman’s movement. They need to take their dumb @**’s home and shut the ‘bleep’ up.

  196. SusanRW says:

  197. patisok says:

Having lived in Maryland for 38 years , I find this group embrasssing. Sad to see such small minds. I hope they pay a price when all read and hear about their writings. This is why the GOP is growing ever smaller hate fills their members veins. God have mercy on their small souls.

  198. PVD3 says:

I agree 100% that Obama is the new Hitler. Both men got to power by telling people that others were responsible for all their problems and that only he could save them. Both men were helped to power by the endorsement of a general. Both men were great speakers that fired up their listners but had little expierience in managing anything. Both men facists exhibiting no tolerance for those with views in opposition to thier own. Hitler was able to lead his nation to total ruin because the youthful masses got taken in by his false promises and the fuel he gave to thier hate. Obama is taking us down the same road. Liberals will wake up one day and realize what they have done only when our country has been destroyed and the USA is no longer a super power or a major economy. For the life of me, I can not understand why so many could be so blind to the truth. That goes for Germany under Hitler and the USA under Obama. Wake up people before they SS troopers show up at your door. Our freedom will soon be a thing of the past as our society crumbles under the weight of Obama’s Marxist/Socialist/Facist Policies.

  199. mishu36 says:

Hate to break it to some of you people but…. The comparisons do not stop there lol.. Open a history book some time and read how Hitler took over or just about every dictator in the world for that matter. But the bigger issues are you left/right wing nutcases that refuse to be open minded or refuse to be what we call realistic. If anyone believes that cap and trade will not effect how much each person pays per month. crawl back into a hole.. How about this health care plan? wont cost anymore right? The problem is not that he wants to push things through the problem is that no one will question it!! Some of you people should get our of your moms attic, get some sun, maybe travel a little. Then come back and write because some of you truly do not understand the costs to the American people.
