Today, former TP member Judd Legum reports that the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County, “one of Maryland’s most prominent Republican organizations,” has launched a vicious attack on President Obama. Featured prominently on the front page of the group’s website is a letter from RWAAC President Joyce E. Thomann, who explicitly equates Obama with Hitler:
Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common in my view. Obama and Hitler use the “blitzkrieg” method to overwhelm their enemies. FAST, CARPET BOMBING intent on destruction. Hitler’s blitzkrieg bombing destroyed many European cities – quickly and effectively. Obama is systematically destroying the American economy and with it AMERICA. First the banking/investment industry, next private enterprise (GM and Chrysler) and now HEALTH CARE. And he is working on grabbing more of the American economy with his environmental extremism!
We too CAN fight back. Contact everyone you know. Start a blitzkrieg of our own. Shut down the Capitol switchboards and the White House switchboards! Say NO to the Obamination of Obama Care!
RWAAC President Joyce E. Thoman and a pile of shit have a lot in common………..
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:04 pmHonestly. GOPers are beyond the pale.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 pmMaryland GOP group: ‘Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common.’
– - Maryland’s own Michael Steele must be SO proud. Is anyone naive enough to believe he wasn’t aware of this before it went public?
The GOP is wallowing in the thick stench of its rotting corpse and keeps piling on the bodies.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 pmPretty much says it all.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:07 pmWouldn’t the act of shutting down the Capitol and White House switchboards be considered acts of domestic terrorism?
Round up the GNOP beotch and throw her pasty white (and no doubt, plump!) ass in jail for the night. Let’s see how popular her Hitler talk is there.
These Maryland GNOPers are a nasty bunch, and none of them too bright.
PEACE
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:10 pmShorter MD GOP:
1) People who “use the “blitzkrieg” method to overwhelm their enemies” are like Hitler.
2) Let’s “start a blitzkrieg of our own.”
You can’t make this stuff up.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:12 pmThis is so laughable what these “peon” of a brain are doing. It wouldn’t be the first attack. But what gets me the most is that the “sickly” GOP will always have their people vote against their own self-interest.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:12 pmBeing that here in MD we have produced some schmucks in the GOP, I’m embarrassed. However, most of the people here are liberal leaning. Thank jeezis.
Anne Arundel Co. is a rather wealthy area, hence, likely the congregation of greedy repubs.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:12 pm“Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common in my view. Obama and Hitler use the “blitzkrieg” method…”
“We too CAN fight back. Contact everyone you know. Start a blitzkrieg of our own.”
Is this person an admirer of Hitler? She apparently wants to emulate him.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 pmThe lack of self awareness these people display is incredible. Thanks for convincing every independent voter who reads your garbage that Republicans are hateful lunatics.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:17 pmBen Stein made a similar analogy about Obama and Hitler when Obama made his speech in an open air stadium and the GOP reacted (quite predictably) the same way.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 pmThey are very quick to use screwy equivocative reasoning to draw thin and tenuous arguments that really have no point, other than the fact they can wench and moan.
Republicans wenching and moaning is a lot going to the bathroom, you feel better when you do it but, I am really not interested in the details.
Wow, geez, what a surprise. Lies and fear. A classic GOP two-fer. Well done, insurance industry water-carriers!
oh and as always kids, don’t forget to BE AFRAID OF THE BLACK PRESIDENT!
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:19 pmIf we had better healthcare crazy people like this would get the treatment they so need…
How’s that Another Joe?
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:21 pmWhat in the…?!
RWAAC President Joyce E. Thoman is a blitzkrieg of the GOP.
Keep it up Thoman, smart, classy lady that you are. SNARK!
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:22 pmContinual fear tactics are making this nation numb. Stop with the belief you have to use such explosive terms to try to push an agenda, or to push against an agenda.
The GOP is pushing itself into permanent minority status if not complete extinction with their constant flinging of fear.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:23 pmAre we sure Joyce E. Thoman isn’t Michael Steele’s ‘other identity’?
Instead of a man of steel flying over in a cape, we have Michael Steele, flying over in a skirt.
Michael, when you’re saving the GOP world, be sure to wear underwear when flying.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 pmStretch the facts as far as you can without breaking it, and you can make comparisons between modern figures and past notorious leaders. Obama and Hitler, Bush and Hitler, Limbaugh and Hitler…I’m sure the comparisons are there if people dare to make them.
That doesn’t mean they are justifiable in their comparison.
I never liked it when people tried to tie Bush to Hitler, and I certainly hate the modern associations between Obama and Hitler. Let’s work together to help America, people, not against it!
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 pmGlad the festival of ignorance is in full swing – I knew you could find some backwash for distraction and obscurantism.
Meanwhile, here’s an interesting post at hullabalu:
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Shorter MD GOP:
1) People who “use the “blitzkrieg” method to overwhelm their enemies” are like Hitler.
– - Apparently the Maryland GOP is unfamiliar with the Powell (Colin) Doctrine which states using overpowering, lightning quick miitary force to defeat the enemy. They also seem to be unfamiliar with “shock and awe” tactics.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:25 pmHmm. Let’s see… who made a major speech in Berlin? Hitler, Obama, or Ronald Reagan?
Okay, it’s a trick question because the answer is “all of the above” but guess who isn’t being singled out as demonic?
St. Ronnie.

June 23rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmAnd the kool-aid drinkers will obediently call the White House with the kind of frequency normally reserved for American Idol voting. Not because they have been given a valid reason to oppose President Obama’s health care proposal. Not because they personally have an interest in keeping the gravy train running for the private health insurance industry. But because their leader has told them that Obama is like Hitler. And they’re trained to accept what they’re told, no matter how absurd it is.
It just boggles the mind.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmtoo much fun to see just what off-the-wall post merits frontpage attention here.

June 23rd, 2009 at 4:35 pmOK — why is it acceptable for the Republican Woman of Anne Arundel County to equate President Obama to Hitler, but it was never OK to equate the fascist and dictatorial nature of the last administration to the Third Reich?

June 23rd, 2009 at 4:37 pmmisscoleopteramolly – get a grip, even though this group merits frontpage attention at TP, the Republican Woman of Anne Arundel County are not really a group with much influence and they have even less of a following.

June 23rd, 2009 at 4:38 pmIt doesn’t sound like Trajan, but it sure smells like a Troll.
And the GNOP decends even further into irrelevence. It just highlights the fact that the GNOP is now beholden to the extreme right wing of the party. There is no longer any center to speak of. It died an ignoble death when Newt, Rush, and Hannity completed their bloodless coup.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:39 pmCongrats Republicans. You now own a party that embodies nothing but the most extreme and destructive tendencies that are possible in American Politics. Enjoy the journey in the wilderness. You’re going to be there for a VERY long time to come.
Just another shallow-minded know-nothing, do-nothing GOPer who loves revisionist history because the truth hurts to much and will continue to push to the low-information voter amongst them to vote against their very interests. The Republicans today, are a disgrace…and they have proven themselves to be in the minority for many, many years to come.

The only attention coulter (I don’t say “she” because there are reports he is actually a male pig-farmer that had a sex-change) deserves is WHY HASN’T SHE BEEN PROSECUTED FOR VOTE FRAUD! Here case seems to be on perpetual hold but the evidence is clear – she lied about registration and illegally voted.
None of the other 2 you mention really deserve any acknowledgment for their stupid boasts and rants because they simply don’t matter.
Glad you agree, now let’s find some REALLY insignificant backwash that has something to say! Someone we would all agree does not merit any coverage or attention at all!

*) With the economy tanking and N. Korea testing missles, did they want someone to take action or someone who would sit around reading “My Pet Goat” ????
*) Overwhelm the phones – admittedly, the repubs have experience doing this, especially around election time. But by the Patriot Act’s additions to the telecommunications act, wouldnt this at least amount to a Denial of Service Attack (that is, disruption of a public utility) and likely be terrorism ?
*) What about the Similarites between Hitler, Reagan and the Antichrist ? Hitler = 6 letters, Antichrist = 666, Ronald Wilson Reagan has 6 letters in each name.
At least don’t come back till you have more definitive similarities = such as both Hitler and Bush energized revolt among the disenfranchised workers

June 23rd, 2009 at 4:45 pmAnother Joe will indeed be needing healthcare when I am through…
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:45 pmSomething fairly interesting happened today. It doesn’t mean we will get a public health insurance option to compete with the insurance industry, but it doesn’t exactly hurt. Apparently some Democrats thought that if they only watered down such a public option to nothing, they would get that vaunted bipartisan support, and everybody could go back to their districts and claim they did something when they in fact would have done nothing. But as those of us who have been observing this have known for some time, these aren’t your father’s Republicans, or your grandfather’s, or any other relative. They are the rump conservative party, openly hostile to using government for any means other than profit-taking, and preferring to tell their constituents “good luck” instead of making any tangible difference to their struggles. And somehow, Democrats just discovered this.
“Something happened but not in the sense that something actually happened.”

The alternatives were routed last fall and today, 3 out of 4 Americans want (1). universal coverage and (2). public option. Even at least half of GOP supports this.
These folks are not in the drivers seat and they are not even on the radar because they are insignificant and nothing is going to arise from them (or the rest of the backwash) as long as people talk about areas of need and agreement.
Rarely have American’s had this type of agreement on the need for change and the direction it should take.

Obama Mum On Whether Public Insurance Option Is Non-Negotiable
By Brian Beutler
Asked about health reform at his press conference moments ago, President Obama declined to draw a line in the sand on the issue of a public insurance option.
The non-negotiable criteria, he said, are that reform should drive down costs and cover the un- and underinsured. He declined, though, to put the public option in this category, saying that he feels strongly about certain provisions and will take those concerns up with members of Congress individually.
Not sure what this means, but if he capitulates to the repugs on this one, he’s going to need a new brand manager in 2012 cuz “yes we can” will not fly again.

But that doesn’t mean that they are going to be the “next wave”.
Americans overwhelmingly rejected the watered down healthcare options in the fall. Today, more than 3 out of 4 support (1). Universal Coverage (2). Public Option.
Even at least half of the registered repugs support this! If healthcare fails, it will only be because folks decide to pander to the backwash and use it as an excuse to subvert the will of the people.
Rarely has there been such a consensus in American politics on the need for change and the direction it should take. The view these folks have will not go away, but they are not going to become mainstream either.

What are the Most effective ways to PUT Pressure on President Obama from the Progressive Side…to NOT SELL OUT or knuckle under to The Status Quo Conservatives???
Obviously , Hitler References have already been tried, and aren’t likely to work,
Other possibilities.
>Just TRUST Obama…his heart is in the right Place.
>Target Congress…Obama needs to get his stuff passed by congress.
>Threaten to Vote For Nader next time.
>Do our homework..and hold Obama Accountable.
>Ask me in 6 months.

Single-Payer — A Plan to be Embraced, Not Feared
The health care debate has taken on an enigmatic quality for me. From President Obama to Senator Baucus to the Republicans to callers on C- Span I hear how proposed legislation will result in “health care reform”- –or NOT. How much the President and Senator Kennedy’s plan will cost the taxpayer over the next 10 years according to the Congressional Budget Office–$1 trillion. And, Senator Baucus’ plan–$1.5 trillion.
June 23rd, 2009 at 5:24 pmWow, thanks Amanda. A thread made for me.
:D
First off, lets just be clear that this is a “reverse psychology” ploy by the neocon right.
The striking similarities between the Bush\Cheney regime and the rise of the Third Reich are astounding. Unfortunately early on the only ones recognizing it were the MoveOn.org crowd, which tainted the comparisons not because they were wrong but simply because of the image of them thanks mostly to an Anti-Moveon campaign by the GOP.
But the similarities were nonetheless real and astounding.
Both Hitler and Bush\Cheney capitalized on a “terrorist” event to invade and occupy a country incapable of defending itself against them. Both Hitler and Bush\Cheney used the same event to restrict civil liberties and create new, oppressive anti-democratic laws in their own country. Bush with his “Patriot Act” and Hitler with his “Enabling Act”.
And both men used the guise of manifest destiny to purport their unilateral right to invade and occupy any nation, oppress their people and others, and to use “whatever means necessary to protect the homeland”, even though the “homeland” wasn’t under attack.
So what these comparisons of President Obama to Hitler are, are reverse tactics designed to weaken the comparisons of Bush\Cheney to Hitler, and make them seem like simple partisan bickering, rather than the historically accurate comparisons they are when speaking of Bush\Cheney, and current GOP philosophy which mirrors fascism.

Obama the Collaborator is letting naysayers neuter health-care fix
June 23rd, 2009 at 5:30 pm
And now for the absurdity of this claim.
At no time in history, and in no books I’ve read, no encyclopedia’s, not even in my copy of “Mein Kampf”, do we see Hitler ever offering the people “Free Health Care Coverage” as part of his programs for the Third Reich.
Unless of course you want to include the “free” medical experiments Doctor Mengele and the other Nazi doctors performed on the Jews in Auschwitz and the other death camps.

But I’m pretty sure those “plans” didn’t include an “opt out” option.

June 23rd, 2009 at 5:56 pmNo—actually, George W. Bush and Hitler have a lot in common. Bush is the worst racist since Hitler.
_______________
SCANDAL! SCANDAL! SCANDAL!
EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!
George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her.
“In her suit, Margie Schoedinger states that George W. Bush committed sexual crimes against her, organized harassment and moral pressure on her, her family members and close relatives and friends. As Schoedinger said, she was strongly recommended to keep her mouth shut. . . . Furthermore, she alleges that George Bush ordered to show pressure on her to the point, when she commits suicide” (blog of drizzten).
“One of those ‘very leasts’ [was] George Bush’s personal complicity in the death (murder to be precise) of my friend Margie Schoedinger in September of 2003. Determining the exact whereabouts and contacts of [then] president-elect George Bush on September 21 thru 22, 2003, should be entirely lacking in difficulty” (Leola McConnell—Nevada Progressive Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010).
McConnell is correct: Bush applying pressure (continuously criminally stalking Margie Schoedinger) purposefully to force Schoedinger to commit suicide does in fact constitute murder where it culminated in her death.
Bush is a racist hate criminal and hates black people (please feel free to see my “GEORGE W. BUSH IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY” blog: andrewyu-jenwang.blogspot.com). (Schoedinger was an African-American woman.)
BEWARE: If the president of the United States hates one—for whatever reasons—he can continuously criminally stalk one to the point that one cannot get away from it, and one ultimately commits suicide in desperation to escape. He can murder people in this way.
Bush is getting away with his murder of Schoedinger—with no sheriff, prosecutor, or court willing to uphold the rule of law.
Bush’s method of murdering Schoedinger cannot exist in a vacuum: he must have murdered other people in the same way.
Bush should confess, come out with the names of all of the people whom he murdered in the disgusting way he murdered Schoedinger, undergo execution, and accordingly find himself at the intersection where he would be free.
(There are thousands of copies of the information above on the Internet. It exists very extensively in all major search engines. Please feel free to go to any major search engine, type “George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her” or “Bush applying pressure (continuously criminally stalking Margie Schoedinger) purposefully to force Schoedinger to commit suicide does in fact constitute murder where it culminated in her death,” hit “Enter,” and find innumerable results.)

How’s it going, bud? Of course, I wasn’t referring to you. You obviously suffered as much under Bush as did any of those whiners who lived under Hitler. You are to be commended for how you’ve managed to escape with your sanity in tact. ;)
republicans hate facts Says:
So upright left admits the GOP is *STUPID* for their COMMENTS… Too FUNNY! ;)
Bud, you know I realize that you are a little slow on the uptake as a result of the suffering you endured under Bush, so I’m happy to remind you that, of course, the far right is as foolish as the far left.;)
June 24th, 2009 at 10:17 amMaryland GOP group: ‘Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common.’
Yeah, right. Hitler would have gassed Obama in a second for being brown, progressist, and american.
June 24th, 2009 at 11:05 amThese women are a disgrace to women everywhere and make the rest of us look bad. It is women like this who hampered the woman’s movement. They need to take their dumb @**’s home and shut the ‘bleep’ up.

June 24th, 2009 at 4:56 pmHaving lived in Maryland for 38 years , I find this group embrasssing. Sad to see such small minds. I hope they pay a price when all read and hear about their writings. This is why the GOP is growing ever smaller hate fills their members veins. God have mercy on their small souls.
June 24th, 2009 at 5:53 pmI agree 100% that Obama is the new Hitler. Both men got to power by telling people that others were responsible for all their problems and that only he could save them. Both men were helped to power by the endorsement of a general. Both men were great speakers that fired up their listners but had little expierience in managing anything. Both men facists exhibiting no tolerance for those with views in opposition to thier own. Hitler was able to lead his nation to total ruin because the youthful masses got taken in by his false promises and the fuel he gave to thier hate. Obama is taking us down the same road. Liberals will wake up one day and realize what they have done only when our country has been destroyed and the USA is no longer a super power or a major economy. For the life of me, I can not understand why so many could be so blind to the truth. That goes for Germany under Hitler and the USA under Obama. Wake up people before they SS troopers show up at your door. Our freedom will soon be a thing of the past as our society crumbles under the weight of Obama’s Marxist/Socialist/Facist Policies.
June 26th, 2009 at 11:11 amHate to break it to some of you people but…. The comparisons do not stop there lol.. Open a history book some time and read how Hitler took over or just about every dictator in the world for that matter. But the bigger issues are you left/right wing nutcases that refuse to be open minded or refuse to be what we call realistic. If anyone believes that cap and trade will not effect how much each person pays per month. crawl back into a hole.. How about this health care plan? wont cost anymore right? The problem is not that he wants to push things through the problem is that no one will question it!! Some of you people should get our of your moms attic, get some sun, maybe travel a little. Then come back and write because some of you truly do not understand the costs to the American people.
