Honolulu Star-Bulletin refuses to run WorldNetDaily’s ‘birther’ ad attack against Obama.

wndbillboardMedia Matters reported earlier this month that many in the conservative media — including Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Fox Nation, the Washington Times, and the LA Times’s Andrew Malcolm — “have advanced various versions of the discredited myth that Barack Obama has not produced a valid birth certificate, is not a natural-born U.S. citizen, and is not eligible to be president.” Among those pushing this false myth is the right-wing site WorldNetDaily (WND), which last night reported a setback in its conspiracy-driven mission to expose Obama’s true birth origins:

In the latest effort to obtain information that could settle the controversy over Barack Obama’s eligibility for office as a “natural born citizen,” WND Editor and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Farah attempted to buy a full-page ad in a Honolulu daily newspaper soliciting assistance in finding documentary evidence of his birth in the city Aug. 4, 1961, as he claims in his autobiography. … [T]he copy was rejected [by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin] – the latest turndown by a growing list of media companies that won’t touch the birth certificate issue even for money.

“I spoke to my publisher and unfortunately we cannot accept the ad because it is political,” explained Cyd Kamakea, classified advertising manager.

A number of billboard companies have also rejected ads from WND that ask, “Where’s the birth certificate?”

I’d suggest we all order copies of his birth certificate and forward it to these clowns, but they of course know there is no real controversy. It really speaks volumes I think that they have to make up something this stupid.

  2. ralph the wonder locust says:

Exactly what kind of “documentary evidence of his birth” are they looking for?

I mean, I’d think that a valid birth certificate and a subsequent birth announcement in the city’s newspaper might serve the purpose, but apparently not.

Can someone tell me how these “birthers” get around the inconvenient truth that it doesn’t matter where Obama was born since his mother was a US citizen when he was born.

  6. ralph the wonder locust says:

It looks like the “birther” movement is gonna be Obama’s Whitewater — a manufactured “scandal” that serves no purpose other than stoking the “base” and giving the wingnuttier Republicans a hobby to keep them busy while they’re marginalized.

  7. Jane E. Schneider says:

The ‘birthers’ will never be satisfied with any proof. Their insanity knows no bounds.

  8. chiroptera toasterhead says:

Interesting. I note that World Net Daily is suspiciously silent on the related topic of Rep. Bill Posey’s possible background as an illegitimate grandson of an alligator.

Why no coverage on this issue, WND? The “Rep” doesn’t stand for “Reptilian,” you know.

The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren’t originally there.<<

  17. YoungSloshee says:

“Facts” were never part of WND’s plan with their support of the birther movement. They just want the most simple-minded audience, and the best way to do that is to utilize the most moronic theory in years.

WND = Hammer. No birth certificate = Nail.

  18. Zooey says:

Barack Obama’s mom is a genius!

Apparently she gave birth to little Barack in Kenya, rushed all the way around the world to plant that birth notice in the newspaper, and then bribed a clerk in the Hawaii hospital to phony up a birth certificate — all because she knew her baby would someday want to run for president.

Now that’s what I call planning ahead! GENIUS!

  19. hormiga brava chavez says:

This is just beyond crazy. Now the rightwingnut birthers are attempting to place ads? More wingnut lunatic behavior to add to a long list of others.

    Texas Gov. threatening to secede,
GOP attempting to re-name the Democratic party,

And you’re welcome, Jane. WND knows their own readers won’t remember (and probably never read the story authenticating the birth certificate anyways), but us on the left have looooooooooong memories – much needed to keep up with the lies of the right.

It is time to take sterner measures against these traitors, liars and filth. We need to organize groups to go after these treasonous bastards. We should attempt to organize boycotts against any who support or accept money for advertising their lies. Law suits need to be brought against any supporting their cause (yes, tenuous but make them suffer while trying to dismiss). Publish the names, home and office addresses of those at the head of these lies and then mobilize protesters to appear outside their place of business and homes until they are broken.

If that does not work, then we can think of more serious methods of eliminating them.

When you think about it, Hawaii would seem to be an awfully bad choice to sneak into with a newborn to fake a native birth. “Oh, I’ll just casually cross 5,000 miles of ocean! Just a hop, skip and a jump!”
Gee, it’d be so easy to make a mistake, that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii instead of nearby…where?

But of course, if they’ll cheer Rush when he said that Kenya was in “the Arab part of Africa,” they’ll eat up anything.

His latest cuts through ‘unalottment’ are illegal, but he’s doing it anyway. These cuts target Nursing Homes, Hospitals, sick kids, and anyone else lacking a voice in the corporate world.
He hasn’t had time to speak with our Legislature, but he’s found plenty of time to speak to the Arkansas Repuke Party Friday night & CNN on Sunday.

EXACTLY, in every possibly way (except for the names of course). OK, so finally, Right-Wing Nutbars listen carefully: Unless the Honolulu Advertiser & the Honolulu Star Bulletin, the two major newspapers in Hawai’i, unless they conspired with each other way back in 1961, just in case a new baby might someday become President, then the case is closed. These two daily newspapers published Vital Statistics on completely different days for the same period of Mariiages & Births, and guess what NUTBARS: THEY BOTH PUBLISHED THE LIVE BIRTH OF PRESIDENT BARAK OBAMA ! So, nutbar, still not convinced? Go to the Hawai’i’ State Library, in the basement are microfilm machines, pull the films from August, 1961 and you will see two seperate announcements, days apart from each other. I really don’t think I want to know if he is a citizen or not, simply because, what took place in Honduras, would take place here, the military would be forced to remove him. That is what we swear an oath to , the Constitution, not the president.
It would get ugly…… But still what if?

  93. wiley says:

Jeezuss Pleazuss. Obama is a citizen because his mother was a natural born citizen. The Constitution states that a president must be a “natural born citizen”, but that is not defined.

McCain was born on a military base in Panama. Americans born to American citizens overseas are citizens. We could argue over minutiae, as if the founding fathers were animistic and believed that being dropped from your mothers loin on U.S. soil conferred qualities upon U.S. citizens that presidents couldn’t do without, but we have better things to do with our time.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

  94. KayInMaine says:

Right wingers are much better at spreading lies than spreading the truth. As*holes!

  95. CageyCretin says:

Well, now, isn’t that so cute? The rightwingers have a conspiracy that is completely theirs and no one else’s, and their going to hold onto it with their little fingers forever and ever.

Those who continue with this line are either trying to be intentionally disruptive to American government simply because they lost the election(s), or they are completely delusional and are clinging to this purely right wingnut conspiracy theory like a soiled security blanket — hoping beyond hope that somehow this conspiracy theory will lead them back into political power where they can be the ones telling people what to do again.

And, of course, with the wingnut rightwing, it is all about telling other people what they can and cannot do. It’s not even “power” in a general sense — it is literally power to tell others what they cannot do that drives the rightwing-nuttery loons.

Keep this up, and the rightwing will become more lunatic fringe than tin foil hatters.

  96. CageyCretin says:

Why are all you birther conspiracy nut jobs denying your rigtwing ideology? Did the republics lose favor with you when they lost power?

You birther nuts are seriously mental.

    Seriously.

    :/

  97. Mark701 says:

I think poster #7 has a very valid point. However, there is something much more mundane associated with the nonsense spewed by the right—money.

There are many people who make a shit load of money inflaming the weak of mind, the fearful, and the easily led. Limbaugh makes $44,000,000/year. Syndicated radio show host Sean Hannity has signed a new radio deal with Ctitadel/ABC Radio and Premiere Radio Networks. The deal will pay Hannity $100 million for the next five years and keep his radio show broadcasting nationwide on about 500 affiliates. Coulter has to be raking in at least a couple million a year from her “books” and synicated column.

The fact is these people are making a killing speading lies and nonsense. The reason they won’t face up to reality is because they can’t make any money, or at least what they’re use to, by doing so. It’s really no more complicated than that.

  98. Peashooter says:

Bunk. It’s stupid to entertain such unmitigated crap.

  99. smidget says:

There is a lot of wrong-minded arguing on both sides.

    Here’s the reality, guys:
Obama is a US citizen because he was born in Hawaii. This is not only a fact, to dispute it is simply stupid. No polite way to say that, really – people who dispute this fact are STUPID. There are plenty of more satisfying ways of saying it, but that’s as nice as it gets. Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. Pathetically stupid. Not intelligent enough to tie their own shoes without injuring themselves, stupid. Mustard gets to gloat because it has a higher IQ, stupid. W could whip your ass at Jeopardy Infant Edition, stupid.

On the meme that if he was born in Kenya, he’d be a US citizen because his mother was a US citizen – that’s also false. The law that requires only one parent to be a US citizen was not passed until the 80s (1981, specifically). At the time that Obama was born, both of his parents would have had to be American citizens in order to naturalize him had he been born in Kenya. But he wasn’t, so that’s an entirely moot point.

On the meme that John McCain is not a US citizen because he was born in Panama, that is also not true. McCain is a naturally born US citizen because he was born on a US Military base. Whatsmore, at the time he was born, the US was the sole controller of the Panama Canal Zone (since we built and paid for it), had been the sole controller of it since 1903, and continued to be the sole controller of it until 1979, so military base or not, it was US soil.

Seriously, this is so completely ridiculous, I’m simply amazed that this many people have commented on it. I read it, because stupidity and craziness like this is funny…but sweet jebus, people. Wake up and recognize how stupid it is and how stupid you are for buying this incredible bullshit. My god, the scope of the conspiracy necessary for this to be true is of the same magnitude as the Flat Earthers espouse. You don’t want to be widely-known as being just as batshit crazy as those morons, do you?
