BUT religious leaders think it’s their duty to save us, deny us our rights as American citizens and make us second class citizens. Our activism is in response to your religious leaders’ oppression.

Finally, somoeone with balls. Im glad he said what he said, and im glad he wont apologize for it. Why should us normal heterosexual people apologize for offending queers and tree huggers when they dont need to apologize for their twisted views offending the rest of us? This world is sick. Real marriage is between a man and a woman. This guy is one of very few poloticians who has the balls and the spine to stand up for what he believes in and not just agree with the majority to get a vote. This guy needs to be president. God knows Obama was not a good choice. And to those of you who said the senator owned a white hood and was racist, since when does being gay have anything to do with race? I am also from Pennsylvania, about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh. Let me tell you we have some DOOZIES around here.Rick Santorum is from around Pittsburgh, so we do have our share of right wing crazies. And I could almost laugh at this shmuck and how out of touch he is. But I am more scared than anything. My oldest child and only son is 22 years old, intelligent, witty and thoughtful. He also happens to be homosexual. We once had a man follow my son back to our car after he left a convenience store where he used the restroom ( we were coming home from a trip). This man tried to assault my son through our car window and called me racial slurs, all because he suspected my son gay because he had long hair and flip flops on….I kid you not, for this man wearing flip flops if you are a male means you are gay…..HUH?
What I am trying to get at is….there are plenty of right wing religous nutjobs in this state. With all of the hate crimes being committed lately, this scares me in a very personal way. Some whacko may listen to this SO CALLED public servant get outraged and decide that my son does not deserve to “exist”!! How many people need to be killed before we make these people accountable for their words!!

As for the question of whether the LGBT should be “grateful” for this jerk “allowing them to exist,” that reflects on a sermon I once heard at a church in Texas where the minister actually said that if we didn’t kill the gays, God would punish us.
