And you should know that every single sub-prime mortgage could have gone belly up on the same day and it still would not have created the financial disaster that the 30 to 1 leveraging caused. It was the banks’ unrestrained greed (aka unregulated, free-market bull****) that caused the failures and put us here – not a few low-income loans. A hundred trillion dollars was lost yet the sum of all subprime mortgage in the country was less than 100 billion. It was the banks kiting with derivatives that put the economy where it is.
