In the wake of her resignation speech on Friday, Max Blumenthal reported for The Daily Beast that Sarah Palin may have quit her job in order to avert a major, yet-to-be-disclosed corruption scandal. Blumenthal explained that “political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators…[are] searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home.” In response, Palin’s attorney sent a letter to several major news outlets threatening to sue for republishing rumors of any federal investigation:
Gov. Sarah Palin’s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish “defamatory” stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation.
This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law,” Van Flein warned, citing Alaska liberal blogger Shannyn Moore.
The LA Times reports today that “the FBI’s Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.” “There is absolutely no truth to those rumors that we’re investigating her or getting ready to indict her,” Special Agent Eric Gonzalez told the Times. It is not clear if this also applies to rumored IRS investigations.
Gov. Sarah Palin’s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish “defamatory” stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation.
gee… I wonder how they’d feel if the President’s attorneys threatened to sue over spreading “defamatory” rumors relating to whether he “pals around with terrorists”?
Some barracuda.

July 5th, 2009 at 11:06 amMy guess is all bravado and not law suit. Does she want to invite further investigation on all the issues? She’s had more than her 15 minutes of fame and unless she’s interested in an “article” in Playboy she can go go raise her kids and shot wolves from a helicopter.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:06 amGotta love Young horny Turks
July 5th, 2009 at 11:07 amFailin’ Palin’s going to sue the media for doing their job?
As her mentor and apparent role model used to say when he was playing (p)Resident: “Bring it on!”
This will assure the Pentacostal Pork-barrel Princess of Wasilla that she will remain exactly where she wants to be . . . squarely in the center of public awareness.
My advice to her is to just quietly take the deal that led to her resignation. Little Sarah, quit protesting so loudly. It will only lead to the truth coming out about the bribes you’ve taken, the business you’ve steered, the vendettas you have pursued, etc.
Just leave the stage quietly, Little Sarah. You’ll be alot happier that way . . . and so will we.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:08 amkind of funny how her putting out this “law suit” then allows everyone to publish the information as a story as why she may sue :D.
Another instance of her not being able to keep her mouth shut. The first I heard (other than my own speculation) of the “rumors” is her lawsuit mentioned here.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:10 amQUITTING IS WINNING!
REPORTING OBJECTIVE FACTS ABOUT CORRUPTION IN ALASKA, TED STEVENS, AND VECO IS ACTIONABLE
IF A SPECIAL AGENT SAYS IT, IT HAS TO BE TRUE FOR THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION AND ALL OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TOO!
It is time that America take the NEXT step towards greatness and EVERYONE SHOULD QUIT AND BECOME WINNERS!
That’s some pretty good doublespeak, even by repug standards – ABANDON THE ONLY REAL POLITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES YOU HAVE EVER HAD IS SUCCESSFULLY FULFILLING THEM!
And it makes her an even “better” candidate for the White House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Losing is WINNING” and “ONLY WINNERS QUIT!!!!!!!”
And doing over a long holiday weekend that celebrates the tenacious battles that others have made to create our nation – SHEER BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!
I only wish it was dur chimpfuhrer that “catapulted the propaganda” that “quitting is for WINNERS”!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:11 amIt’s no surprise that she doesn’t understand defamation law, but someone read Sullivan to her lawyer, stat. He must have gone to Regent.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:13 amThe federal investigation most Alaskans are talking about on their blogs is a DOJ investigation.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:16 amralph
July 5th, 2009 at 11:16 ambarracuda are more teeth than bite. Ever eat it? It is okay but there or planty of other fish more worthy. I cut a few recently…
It’s time to look to the LA Times for their verification of their “source” at the FBI?? What qualified source would disclose details of an ongoing investigation? This sounds very bogus to me – especially on a holiday weekend where contact with credible sources is non-existent.
If one is to presume that this so-called ‘verification’ by the FBI exists is that it could not include unknown investigations by separate and individual branches of law enforcement – the DOJ and the IRS.
The la times has been a propaganda tool for many many years – anyone surprised that they are leading the cover by creating the excuse/justification to threaten people that are trying to report legitimate news?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:20 amThis is highly unusual and I don’t know how to read it. Is she really that thin skinned or does it go to something deeper. She is a public figure and is sounding a lot like Richard Nixon, who said after his loss in 1962 that “you won’t have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore”. Chilling the media worked for Nixon as he fashioned a comeback that we all regretted. Is that the route Sarah Palin is going?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:20 amThis is the action of a typical republican these days. They can spew all of their hatred, all of their misleading lies but when others start pointing out their lies, their hypocrisy, their ignorance, these bullies start threatening others with law suits.
I’m dealing with some assclown now at a local blog whose threatening a lawsuit with claims of slander and defamation of character. I laugh because this assclown has been banned from that site and returns under multiple monikers to attack, insult and stalk his “enemies” online.
These people are all just cowards and bullies. When the truth gets to be too much for them, when the picture they paint of themselves gets exposed, they run to their lawyers and scream “lawsuit”. It’s all so pathetic really.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:20 amI posted this angle with in minutes of the news. Palin will sue “personally” not the media outlet they work for or write for but personally those who distort, make up stories about, demonize and other wise attempt to destroy on false pretenses the lives of her or her family. IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME! When pundits, bloggers and so called journalists who make false accusations or other falsifications are required to hire lawyers and pay thousands of dollars for them out of their own pockets the whole thing changes……..it will sure change the complexion of this site along with the Olbermanns and Lettermans of the world….HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh what fun we will all have!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:25 amThis is the action of a typical grifter. Soak your mark, which happenend to be the state of Alaska and its people, and move on to the next sucker. This is about, book deals, paid speeches and TV spots. This is about stuffing the pockets of Palin and the First Dude. Once a grifter, always a grifter. If the rightwing thinks she’s their gal, they will be disappointed in the end.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:29 amMaybe she resigned and is going into hiding because she heard all the turkeys found out about the thanksgiving massacre?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:30 amSt. Sarah, just keeps on digging that hole deeper and deeper…
July 5th, 2009 at 11:30 amLaszlo Panaflex Says:
It’s no surprise that she doesn’t understand defamation law, but someone read Sullivan to her lawyer, stat. He must have gone to Regent.
Yep. This is all publicity stunt. The idea that a public figure could sue “the internet” (ok, the “threat” is a bit more specific) is laughable under NY Times v Sullivan. If she is dumb enough to file a defamation suit, she gets to have her deposition taken. Heh. That involves giving statements under oath, Sarah. You sure about that?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:33 amHere’s one for you Sloppy Bastard, the rumor is that Sarah’s computer had pictures of kiddy porn on it. And the hook is that it was pictures of her 16 year old daughter and Levi getting it on on the couch in Sarah’s living room. Not only did she condone premarital and underage sex, she filmed it!!
That’s just wrong. No wonder she quit.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:33 amIt’s gonna take an awful lot of propaganda to maintain the lie that quitting is winning and was a “bold” and “shrewd” move.
It is also gonna take some threats of litigation to keep some people from talking about known facts about corruption in Alaska.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:34 amSlappy, do you have any idea how hard it is to sue a news outlet? The courts have almost always sided with the press. The couts ruled that faux news had the right to lie. Palin thinks she’s spent alot of money now, wait to she trys to sue the media.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:35 amSo Slappy is against freedom of speech, against the media and journalists speaking or publishing the truth ONLY WHEN it involves exposing someone on the right. But it’s okay for the media and journalists (Fox, Drudge, WSJ) to lie about democrats or progressives.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:36 amSlappyBastinado Says:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh what fun we will all have!
Little early to start on the crack pipe isn’t it?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:37 amA threat to be sued by Sarah Palin = listed on Nixon’s enemies list
Bring it on!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:37 amIs sarah palin a corrupt embezzeler, adulterer, and now, according to nanlichi, a producer of child porn?
I just don’t know, but I will defend the rights of citizens to discuss the conduct of their elected officials and other public officials.
I do not know if palin produces pornography with children or perhaps some animals. But if she did make videos of sex acts between consdenting humans and mammals out on the farm or wilderness, I’m OK with that – I really am.
Now that she has shown us that taking the “high road” means “quitting”, that “only winners quit”, and that the real losers are the folks that take responsibilities to others seriously, she will have a lot of time to do some corruptin’, adulterin’, porn producin’, and even more slander and libel of her own.
And I am OK with that, because, it she used her political influences to enrich her family and embezzle directly or indirectly from the public coffers, that is obviously much more acceptable to her base than the pornography even if it does feature her own children or animals that have given the most meaningful consent that is possible for said species.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:39 amsoo, soo, soo, soo, soo, soo…
soo-eee, soo-eee, soo-eee, soo-eee…

July 5th, 2009 at 11:40 amI see what kind of America Slappy and Palin want to create and I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit. Kind of reminds me of Nazi Germany, shut down all the opinions of opposition. Whats next, round up all of the liberal bloggers, Olbermann, Maddox, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, the mythical liberal media and execute all of us?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:40 amAll the papers did was report factually that there are rumors, They didn’t say she is under investigation, just that there are rumors that she is. So there is no liable.
However if she is successful think what it would mean to talk radio or opinion shows. What about political adverts? Think how much money Limbaugh and Hanitty would have to pay out. Palin herself would be in trouble for things she accuses others of and propagation or rumors. I bet she forwards chain emails.
It’s scary to think that she could have been one heartbeat away from being president. If we thought Bush politicized the justice dept. just imagine what she would do.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:41 amSo should faux be sued because they consistently identify republican with sex and various other scandals as democrats?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:41 amI look forward to Slappy’s enthusiastic support for a Hilary Clinton lawsuit against those right-wing “reporters” and pundits who published rumors of her alleged lesbianism and her role in the “murder” of Vince Foster.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:42 amnigel, not really scary – she has shown us that how the most meaningful statements repugs can make is to QUIT!
Too bad chimpy didn’t learn that lesson halfway through his first term – just imagine the BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars this nation would have saved and the hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children who would not have been killed in your name.
This is a bold new strategy that republicans are now advocating – QUIT AND WIN!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:44 amY’know… there’s a reason why “slapping his bastinado” stands alongside “shaking the devil off” as a euphemism for autoerotic activity around here…
July 5th, 2009 at 11:45 amShe just complained recently about how enormous her legal bills are. Litigious much?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:45 amHard to tell Slappybastinado from satire. Happens a lot these days. Funny, too: It usually goes right over their little heads.

==============================================
Your funny…….your doing the very thing that IS the problem….a complete distortion 180 degrees from what I just posted……the question is …do you know what you just did or did you do it with out knowing? I think the latter so once again……she will not be holding the “media” responsible for what is printed/annunciated but those “personally” who pontificate falsehoods. Wise up please!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:46 amThe Palin repiggies are hungry for money.
Yup, gonna cost a fortune to defend herself from the embezzlement and corruption charges and it looks like they can make ‘em stick.
Besides, once the think-tanks prop up her book sales a’la ann coulter by buying up insane quantities to place on NYT bestseller list, there isn’t gonna be a consistent revenue stream there.
When you defend yourself against embezzlement and have to quit your elected position to do it, you can expect to spend BIG BUCKS on lawyers.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:47 amHey, guys? Do you REALLY think asshats like Slappy and Sarah are going to put bloggers and David Letterman out of business and/or muzzle us?
Cah MAHN. Handwringing over this silly issue is the only thing they can MAKE us do. Fagetaboutit, aaay!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:47 amFunny Slappy, better go back and look what your gal said.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:48 amralph…..I’m all for equal opportunity…..why Hill-n-Billy have not taken this route must have something to do with love or money or the love of money…..we report, you decide!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:50 amNice try, Slappy. Then again, it’s usually easy to make decent, moral people like honest liberals feel guilty or nervous, when that’s your goal.
What an idiot. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time, Cheetos-breath? Anybody who takes this clown seriously…?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:50 amSo, Slappy, will you be as charged up when the Secretary of State threatens to sue Edward Klein in the wake of this new era of Sarah-inspired lawsuits?
How about when the President sues the pants off of right wing gadfly Jerome Corsi?
Just wondering.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:51 amWouldn’t that be great if “little shop of horrors” actually INITIATED the discovery process by following through with threat to sue?
Wouldn’t you love to see that little slimy @ss under oath talking about this!
DO IT SARAH!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:52 am“It’s gonna take an awful lot of propaganda to maintain the lie that quitting is winning and was a “bold” and “shrewd” move.”
Maybe she’s following Michael Steele’s super-secret master plan?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:52 amPalin’s respect for the first amendment is like beck’s and scheuer’s patriotism.
http://blahgblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/04/sarah-palin-please-sue-me/
July 5th, 2009 at 11:52 amBeing sued by Sarah Palin would mean having your hand in the bank account of her SaraPAC.
All hat (and talk), no cattle. Sound familiar?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:53 amOr it could have something to do with, y’know… knowing the law and recognizing the futility of such an action.
But I suppose now that you’ve suggested the lack of action taken by the former President and the Secretary of State demonstrates their guilt, they could successfully sue YOU under the same principle.
Hmmm… I kinda like how this works.
I’m sure the lawyers will like it too.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:53 amMaybe, but I’m thinking it’s just another bold manifestation of the bedrock Republican principle of “Up is Down! Black is White!”
July 5th, 2009 at 11:54 amCue the Great GOBspit, whining and crying with his head under a blanket: “LEAVE…SARAH…ALONE!!!”
July 5th, 2009 at 11:54 amLibel suits are difficult enough to prosecute, and when the plantiff is a public figure, fuggetaboutit.
The only time I remember it working was when Carol Burnett sued that tabloid many years ago.
Still, go for it I guess. I would think she would have enough of massive legal bills. How many frivolus ethics complaints have been lodged against her? More than 2 dozen, all of them dismissed, but you still have to pay the lawyers. Its the death by a thousand cuts strategy, and the left has gotten exceedingly good at it. (Another example, attempting to sue firearms manufacturers for criminal misuse of their products, ended up having to pass federal legislation to prevent that.)
Later,
July 5th, 2009 at 11:55 amPalin threatens to sue media outlets for publication of investigation rumors.
– - Lipstick on a dipstick.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:56 amWhen you are the plaintaff in civil litigation, can you take the 5th ammendment?
July 5th, 2009 at 11:56 amThere….done….just completed all the government forms for my new Hoveround, thanks all! Oh man, I cant wait to race all my Democratic frinds down to the pancake house every morning for breakfast. Giving up work and turning to the government and “the rich” for my every need is the best thing I ever done. See you all there!
July 5th, 2009 at 11:57 amExcuse me, but wasn’t one of the reasons given by Sarah for quitting — sorry…. “redirecting her energies in a more productive direction” — was because they’re facing a half million dollars in legal bills?
So she’s gonna launch a bunch of quixotic lawsuits as a bold next step?
This woman is dumb as a bag of hair.
July 5th, 2009 at 11:58 amSo, slappy gave up trying to defend his gal, and went for, lets change the subject ploy. Very astute of you slappy.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:00 pm“How many frivolus ethics complaints have been lodged against her? More than 2 dozen, all of them dismissed, but you still have to pay the lawyers. Its the death by a thousand cuts strategy, and the left has gotten exceedingly good at it.”
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that it was the Republics in Alaska’s State Legislature who lodged the ethics complaints against Palin.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:01 pmYeah, Slappy, you’d make a fortune if you wrote for Jon Stewart. Truly, it’s difficult to see if you’re trying to be humorous, or if you’re stupid enough to believe the crap you leave in here.
Free breakfast! Free government giveaway Hoverounds! And the ponies in the back yard! God Bless Hussein Obama, and thanks to my new conversion to Islam, I now have First Citizen Status here in the Muslim States of America!

July 5th, 2009 at 12:02 pmAre “special agents” actually given the authority to unequivocally confirm the status of ongoing investigations?
Just another example of mainstream media “catapulting the propaganda” so that repugs can use to further their agenda.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:03 pmI posted this angle with in minutes of the news. Palin will sue “personally” not the media outlet they work for or write for but personally those who distort, make up stories about, demonize and other wise attempt to destroy on false pretenses the lives of her or her family.
Well, if it’s true that someone can sue an individual in the media for lying about you, then President Obama has a very good case to sue Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly. But, he won’t do that because he knows that when you are a public figure people are going to lie about you.
BTW, who is to say these people are lying about Palin. Do you know for sure that she is not under investigation?
July 5th, 2009 at 12:03 pmAnd God bless our new socialism! Fascism! Or, as I prefer to think of it, whenever I need a good laugh: Facialism!
July 5th, 2009 at 12:03 pmOh stop it ralph……
July 5th, 2009 at 12:04 pmToo funny! LOL
Must see from palin’s legal defense fund Website:
“Halfway through her first term as Alaska’s Governor, Sarah Palin has done so much for her state and her nation … Still, there is much left to be done, so let’s help Governor Palin continue the job she was elected to do without all these petty distractions.”
Couldn’t make this crap up: http://www.thealaskafundtrust.com/about/
July 5th, 2009 at 12:05 pmCan I sue the Privacy Center just for being lame and annoying?
July 5th, 2009 at 12:07 pmBadmoodman @ 52
that’s one of the best lines evah.
but watch out — you’ll be hearing from palin’s lawyer shortly…

Well, it be true! Obama should quit and get on with it…..he won’t even need to hire an attorney ….theres already one in the family!
July 5th, 2009 at 12:08 pmIn other words, for V.P. Palin, the biggest threat Al Qaeda poses is, *gasp* their joining the 5th estate and strapping tape recorders to their bodies…..
..yet the irony is, she’s the one that keeps bombing in the media.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:09 pmLipstick on a dipstick. Bachman will be sueing for taking her name.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:10 pmSarah needs more time to spend with her bank accounts. And filling them.
Anyone–ANYONE–who could possibly take Sarah Palin or George W. Bush seriously for one minute is experiencing severe brain malfunction. Anyone with eyes should be able to see what idiots they both are.
Even for his 9-11 speech, hailed in nearly every quarter as a masterpiece, all I saw was a raving Monkey in a Man Suit. And Sarah…? Forget what she says. Listen to her voice, without the words…she’s nothing more than a brainless bimbo.
Sue me, Sarah, PLEASE SUE ME! It’s my only retirement plan, after I recoup all my losses and damages.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:10 pmHow many members of the national “liberal media” have filed ethics complaints against Sarah Palin in Alaska?
The reason that Sarah Palin and her adoring sycophants rail against the national “liberal media” is because they need an omnipotent bogeyman to blame in order to deflect the fact that her lack of ETHICS is the reason that ETHICS COMPLAINTS are being filed against her by ALASKANS.
The ethics complaints being filed against Sarah Palin aren’t coming from people outside of ALASKA……they are coming from people “inside” ALASKA.
ALASKA is heavily dominated by REPUBLICAN politicians and voters. That means that the vast majority of the ethics complaints being filed against Sarah Palin are being filed by her fellow REPUBLICANS.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:11 pm“…strapping tape recorders to their bodies…”
ha ha
hanshiro, if I could recommend this one sixteen times, I would…
July 5th, 2009 at 12:12 pmLEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!
July 5th, 2009 at 12:14 pmPalin is bluffing about a defamation suit. Her attorney is fully aware of the Gertz v. Robert Welch case which held that a public has to show actual malice in order to get damages. It is such a high standard that it is nearly impossible to prove actual malice. The other consideration is Palin would have to give a deposition and that would open up her defending the charges about her home. Not only would she have to testify, but also her husband. I am sure she does not want to talk about collateral matters in a deposition because they may embarrass her.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:19 pmoops should read public figure.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:20 pmThe FBI said they are NOT investigating Palin. Fine. Thanks for clearing that up.
Now…get the IRS, Postal Inspection Service and U.S. Attorney’s Office to say the same thing. And when they DO, I will forget all about these unfounded rumors.
Until then…..
July 5th, 2009 at 12:20 pmThis publicity-driven sow has the temerity to threaten people for looking into the motives for her inexplicably befuddled behavior? LMFAO!
July 5th, 2009 at 12:28 pmOK, this sounds pretty outlandish. However…and this is a BIG however…I’ll LMAO if this is proven true!!! Tragically, nothing surprises me anymore. But, still…this is pretty outlandish.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:29 pmVery soon we will learn that it was Sarah who killed Jon Benet for getting in her way….
July 5th, 2009 at 12:33 pmIt was preemptive. The kid really wasn’t a threat but you really can’t afford to wait for a Miss. Congeniality award shaped cloud. Everything changed. Sarah thinks in a post Bob Barker world…
July 5th, 2009 at 12:37 pmSo Palin’s lawyer claims that she will sue all of the blogs for libel for discussing plausible allegations of misconduct about a controversial political figure? Good luck with that.
We’re all quaking in our boots. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Libel requires a number of components to be present in order for the case to be viable in court, including knowingly portraying a false statement to be true (as opposed to presenting a speculative statement worthy of further investigation). Successfully suing the press for libel against an elected official is doubly difficult.
No surprise that Palin does not understand the nuances of defamation law. She still thinks that the First Amendment is designed to protect her right of free speech (as an elected government official) without being criticized or condemned by the media. Ass-backwards as usual.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:38 pmBring it on, Bailin’ Palin!!!
Oh – and Ralphie? What do you have against poor, innocent bags of hair?? Apologize at once!! *giggle*
~A
July 5th, 2009 at 12:40 pmSuing the internets one tube at a time.
You go for it, Sarah! Think you’ve been under the microscope already? Just wait for the colonoscopy to begin.
PEACE
July 5th, 2009 at 12:42 pmIt’s clear that Palin is a loser.
IF she can’t take the heat in the spotlight she tries to create for herself and then threatens the ‘perpetrators’ with action in a court – ooops, time to see a shrink….
The ultimate loose cannon…..
July 5th, 2009 at 12:48 pmScottsdalian,
I made it up. Like a good rumor starter, I created an outlandish story from a few fuzzy facts so it has enough legs that people go, “You know, that just could be….”
It was poking fun at that dumb ass Sloppy who says we are all going to get sued by Bible Spice.
I also heard there was a Bigfoot sited in McNary. Pass it on.
July 5th, 2009 at 1:02 pmWell….the stupid bi.tch must have done something quite illegal if she has her lawyers out threatening to sue someone for making comments. Seems like that is a typical family values party way of operating. If I can find the audio for sale somewhere I’m going to send Sarah a recording of the gates slamming shut at Leavenworth …. just so she can plan for the future.
July 5th, 2009 at 1:02 pmWell I guess President Obama should sue Sarah. After all she told some terrific lies about him in front of thousands of people and on camera. And she had malicious intent and she was trying to do him harm. Actually I believe she was trying to incite violence against him as well and she continues to to so today.
July 5th, 2009 at 1:03 pmThreatening people is never a good idea it pisses them off. We already didn’t like her and now were mad. What a genius.
July 5th, 2009 at 1:05 pmIf I had the time I would make a Youtube for The Barrcuda like the poor pathetic turd who got all up in everyone’s face for Brittany Spears.

_____________________________________________________________
Oh, I think when lawsuits start flying for the broadcast and print of false rumors and empty accusations intended to defame, the Fox News and the Limbaughs of the world will be the biggest targets — much in the way that a fly will go to the biggest pile of crap. Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly will be faded memories before the system even notices Keith Olbermann — let alone Think Progress.

…threaten to sue.

Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:
Well, if it’s true that someone can sue an individual in the media for lying about you, then President Obama has a very good case to sue Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly. But, he won’t do that because he knows that when you are a public figure people are going to lie about you.
========================================
Well, it be true! Obama should quit and get on with it…..he won’t even need to hire an attorney ….theres already one in the family!
So why would President Obama resign? He’s an adult. He understands that when you become a public figure you open yourself up to people lying about you. You don’t see whining about how unfair the MSM is to him. He has mentioned how obsessed with him Fixed is, but that’s a fact that can’t be disputed.
President Obama is not a quitter. Sarah Palin is.
July 5th, 2009 at 1:17 pmLet her sue. It’s just more fodder for other suits.
BTW — You are mooseyak because you are yakking stupid again.

I guess this means she didn’t resign because of the legal fees.

July 5th, 2009 at 2:18 pmNote to all:
Winning in court can be attained through a loss by running your opponent out of money by transferring all of his/hers to there attorneys. (If by chance you loose in court AND all your money defending yourself leave plenty of time to file for bankruptcy at the end of the suit to screw your attorney) Next class we will learn about “hiding assets”.
July 5th, 2009 at 2:21 pmTry that again in English Sloppy Bastard?
Did you know that 11 children in Palin’s church died of exorcism rituals just last year? The kids were talking back to the parents and the preacher said they had to exorcise the demons and got carried away.
Sad. And just wrong. No wonder she quit.
July 5th, 2009 at 2:33 pmI got punked!
July 5th, 2009 at 2:34 pmExcuse me, but wasn’t one of the reasons given by Sarah for quitting — sorry…. “redirecting her energies in a more productive direction” — was because they’re facing a half million dollars in legal bills?
So she’s gonna launch a bunch of quixotic lawsuits as a bold next step?
——–
the gloves are off. sarah is going to explore avenues and launch an offensive. and become wealthier than most lefties in the process.

July 5th, 2009 at 2:41 pmCan Gov Palin recall, “paling around with terrorists” ?
I am sure she sees no problem inciting violence at campaign stops as she runs for VP of this country. You know it is just lipstick on a hockey mom. Its fair and sort of cute for her to accuse people of terrorism.
If her job as Gov got so trouble for her to quit. As the accountability factor of her actions as Gov tallies up. How long would she have lasted as McCain’s VP (if elected).?
Is she taking a hike down the defamation trail?

July 5th, 2009 at 2:50 pmBuild your own Sarah Palin care package! The basic items follow thusly:
An Ice Pack! Perfect for calming the pressure brought about by the inflated ego.
A Box of Band-Aids! A must-have for patching up that thin skin.
A Hammer and Nails! How else do you plan to complete your martyr complex without them!
Sunglasses! A stylish way to put on the blinders to ignore your blatant hypocrisy concerning family values, political ethics, claims of socialist behavior, etc.
There you go, four basic items to help you put together your very own Sarah Palin Care Package! Have fun!
July 5th, 2009 at 2:53 pmha ha, Palin vs the First Amendment.
This oughta be good.

five bucks says she can’t name the things the first amendment protects.
July 5th, 2009 at 2:56 pmI wonder if this is what Newt meant by the Republican’s Altered Reality?
The Republican’s have a playbook, and only they can use the rules? Ms. Palin is getting the play exactly the way the Republicans have dished it out in the past. See how she screams! Get a tough hide sister because this is only the beginning.
The players are using Republican rules. How does it feel to be on the receiving end?
These Republicans are such wimps.
July 5th, 2009 at 2:59 pmSaw a re-run of a comedian’s act that must’ve first aired during the Don Imus / women’s basketball issue:
He said, “It’s not about what people call you; what matters is what you answer to.”
You know, the old “sticks and stones” message.
And while I don’t condone name-calling or meanness for the sake of tearing down, I think people whose introduction to the nation is by a well-delivered sarcastic speech might expect a little payment in kind — without whining from the original deliverer.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:00 pmScottsdalian,
Damn! I thought I had a live one! I was going to try to sell you some timeshare opportunity in Yuma.
One more before I go clean the pool. I heard from a good source that Sarah tried to hire a hitman to take out the knees of some skinny teenage, zit faced punk because he was so incredibly annoying. The pencil neck went by the name of GOPsby or something. No wonder she quit.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:02 pmi wonder if failin’ palin’s head cheerleader here is going to change his tune when the feds kick in her door and perp walk her out in cuffs?

well, oh-so-well-educated connecticut loon, the feds have no investigation of her, if you go scroll up and read the statement of the fbi spokesperson and special agent. you are blowing smoke.

woo me the same way you’ve wooed katy.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:06 pmRe-read it yourself, you idiot.
The FBI says it has no investigation.
No such denial from IRS, Postal Inspectors, U.S. Attorney’s Office or DOJ.
Get back to us with their denials and then we’ll believe you.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:10 pmHAHAHAHA
She should worry about how far back her investigation will go.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:14 pmapparently,
July 5th, 2009 at 3:14 pmto palin’s head cheerleader “the feds” is only the FBI, Scottsdalian. perhaps it hasn’t heard, it was the IRS that brought down al capone.
hey white boy
the fbi is under doj. so is the u.s. atty.
and what evidence do you have about the irs and freakin postal inspectors. you’re eager to throw every agency on this woman, aren’t you? what’s next, the producers of survivor?

you’re just flailing from one agency to the next, in hopes something will stick against your political adversary. a witch hunt if there ever was one.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:20 pmYep – “tax evasion”.
Kinda sorta like…getting free materials to build a house and then not paying income tax on those free materials which, according to IRS & accounting 101, would constitute “income” and therefore be taxable. Oops.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:22 pmSarah Palin is a [naughty word redacted]!
July 5th, 2009 at 3:23 pmpalin’s head cheerleader is suddenly against political witchhunts a gop strategy for the last 20 years. that’s funny.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:25 pmAs a public figure she cannot sue for defamation, I don’t think. If you said something about a private person you could. Any lawyers out there?
July 5th, 2009 at 3:26 pmWhat makes you think I am a “white boy”???
And I am abundantly aware that both the U.S. Attorney and FBI are within the DOJ.
Do you have any point to make…or are you just proudly displaying your stupidity???
And careful how you insult the postal inspectors…they carry very large guns. Handcuffs, too.

July 5th, 2009 at 3:37 pm“Do you have any point to make…or are you just proudly displaying your stupidity???”
you have no proof of that either. my correction of your inaccuracies is “stupidity”? who’s stupid when they don’t even know how to apply the word correctly?
“And careful how you insult the postal inspectors…they carry very large guns. Handcuffs, too.”
you brought it up. maybe you can explain what that has to do with the fbi’s statement.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:39 pmIf mooseyak doesn’t want to be the butt of jokes, then she should STFU. she lies like her freshly skinned bear rug in her free millions of dollars mansion.
She’s a drama queen and a self-professed 2nd place “beauty” queen. Her crackpot analogies about balls and basketball gave me the willies.
Just when I thought I could call her just plain moosey, she opens her mouth and. I guess cold stupid is just as refreshing as warmed-over stupid.
I guess she will flee to a foreign land like Tx.

it’s safe to say that liberals think justice is a joke, a force that should be used to fend off political enemies.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:42 pmGOPsky, it’s funny you speak of justice.
I want to know about the witch hunt in Alaska.
You Republicans never worried too much about justice unless things hit very close to home. My opinion
July 5th, 2009 at 3:52 pmWell you said the “Feds” said they were not investigating Sarah & Todd. This is wrong. The FBI said they were not investigating.
There are other Federal agencies that investigate criminal activities, including the IRS (CID – Criminal Investigations Department), Postal Inspection Service (Mail & Wire fraud), U.S. Attorney’s Offices, Dept. of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, the U.S. Treasury Dept. (where I used to be a Criminal Investigations Manager for an Agency of the U.S.T.), etc.
And, despite my best personal efforts, I was never able to throw ANY agency at suspected criminal activities. In fact, they throw themselves.
Now…please explain that “white boy” comment you made to me.

*********************************************************** I do agree with you thoroughly. She can dish it out, but cannot take it! The scary part is, if something would have happened to then Sen. Obama, would Michelle Obama go after Sarah for getting her husband shot. Seeing her stomps and hearing all the crap coming out of her mouth. Actually she just pissed me off. She should stay home and raise her children before another one gets pregnant, and taking care of a special needs baby, they take time and energy to raise, not traveling to the lower 48, I don’t want her to grace my State again, Gov. Rendell wanted McCain-Palin to pay Pennslvania Taxes… LOL! Yeah right.

You couldn’t be more wrong. We completely support a full investigation into all of the crimes against Americans, the Constitution and the world by the previous adminstration.
Given your legal sensibilities and that burning desire to see justice for all, I assume you want to join the call for investigations.
Right?

I would say an indictment or an affair were the only rational explanations for why Palin would resign, but then she has shown that she doesn’t actually act rationally.
July 5th, 2009 at 5:45 pmI think you are overlooking Palin and her husband’s greed. They can make more money for the next 3 years doing speeches, writing books, interviews and so on. On the whole, I think this resignation was a financial decision so that she and her husband can grab millions of dollars rather than seriously campaign for an office. The millions of dollars would leave her and the family very well off.

July 5th, 2009 at 8:03 pmMost or the rumors discussed talk about an investigation of a construction company, so the LA times article could be accurate in that there is no direct investigation of Todd and Sarah also then too. You betcha!

The Sarah who complained about Hillary whining about the media.
July 6th, 2009 at 12:34 amWell, this takes her out of the running for the Presidency. Randomly up and quitting on people doesn’t look good on your resume. Besides, only people currently holding an office of some kind ever win primaries. So, she’s done for.
July 6th, 2009 at 3:51 amJust stick with the facts, mainstream media. Palin is a moron.
July 6th, 2009 at 7:36 amI can’t stand Sarah Palin – she’s a lunatic. But speculating on television that someone is being investigated by the FBI when you don’t have an ounce of confirmation about such a thing is the height of irresponsible journalism, and one more example of how horrible the mainstream press has gotten.
Woodward and Bernstein had to source everything before publishing accusations about Nixon. Today, all you need is one clown guessing and another clown doubting, and that’s all the “balance” that’s required.
The dingbat from Wasilla doesn’t have a valid lawsuit – but she’s right about this one. You don’t report something like that when you’re frigging guessing. That’s not journalism.

EugeneDebs
Eugene v. Debs
It’s been bugging me for months, because I knew that it sounded familiar.
It was a famous Sedition case from the early 1920s, in which a political activist was jailed for denouncing militarism, and the Supreme Court upheld it.
I find this interesting in light of the threat of lawsuit, as both this case and this threat are in direct contradiction to the First Amendment protections.
So tell me, Eugene – did you mean to do that, or is it a coincidence?
