Not for nothing did Harry Belafonte call Colin Powell a House N*gg*r. Right at the height of the illegal Iraq Invasion. And Harry was right.

Sure. Colin has a right to say whatever he wants. So do I, and you’d better pay attention to the facts BEHIND the myth of the man.

Bull, dasm. You typed and sent before you knew all the pertinent facts. I don’t care about Colin Powell; I don’t need him to advance our agenda. He’s irrelevant–and an accomplice in the worst foreign policy debacle in our nation’s history, while he was Secretary of State, for crissakes!

He is clinging to what’s left of his ‘reputation’ that is completely undeserved, for reasons I’ve listed.

I listed THREE INCREDIBLE STORIES that tell the truth about Colin Powell. He has been up to his neck in some of the most sordid incidents of our nation’s past–My Lai, Iran/Contra and the illegal and bankrupting Iraq Invasion.

He may be pro-choice and anathema to Rush Limbaugh–but he’s no angel. I refuse to accept his apology for the death and destruction his lies caused.

I accept George Wallace’s apology he rendered at the end of his life. It was sincere because he was almost dead, and politics had nothing to do with it, and history taught that man a lesson as he watched the entire nation change its attitude towards race. He EARNED his forgiveness.

Just because Powell admitted what we dirty f**king hippies knew all along, doesn’t mean we forgive him for the death, destruction, debt and loss of our nation’s reputation he abetted and enabled. His crime was even worse than that of George Wallace’s–and when it comes to brown people suffering, JUST AS RACIST.

Ye gods!

I should point out that it is a lot easier for a Republican who is not currently in an elected position to stand up to Limbaugh.

Yeah or the Kennedy kids, or Kerry’s kids or Clinton’s kids or coming soon Obama’s kids.

regardless of what he said in the past, regardless of what he’s done in the past, in this instance he is right.

I know it’s hard for some people to accept that without throwing “this that and the other” into it. Sometimes things aren’t as simple as “He’s a Republican he lies!!!!!!!”

How open minded is someone that can’t even say “Calling Sotomayer a reverse racist is nonsense” just because Powell said it.

But the racist right’s implementation of that tends to be:

Any preferential (or compensatorial) treatment for a minority is to be shouted down;

while any discriminatory or oppressive practice is to be ignored or denied at the top of one’s voice.

The official line is that no aid should be given to African Americans because all that racism ended oh so long ago, and they’re just trying to game the system now.

That position relies on waving one’s hands frantically in front of any racist incidents that persist in cropping up. Jena, LA? No no no! Look away lookaway! Pictures of the White House with a watermelon patch out front? Look! Dancing with the Stars is on!

Racism not only still exists in this country, it’s still rampant. I’ve seen it leap out of people’s eyes as I talk to them/ I’ve seen it rear up like a cobra when I walked into a room with a friend who was a black man married to a white woman. It had a physical sound to it. It helped kill him.

It’s a dishonest tactic that works on some liberals who lead lives surrounded by enlightened friends. They just can’t believe that anybody feels that way any more!
But no matter where they live, if they gave me three days, no matter what town they’re in, I could show them the reality.

That is, in the race, did the kids in the Bush clan start off even with everyone else, or did they get a 300 yd head start on the others in teh 500 yd race ? Could daddy Bush introduce them at will to people that I would not a chance of getting in to see ? Did George have resources to bail him out if the business went bad (kind of like the Steve Martin joke on how easy it is to make a million dollars – take $10 million and invest in the bank for 2 years). Could the Bush’s afford a private boarding school ? Could the Bushes benefit from a connection with the Saudi Royalty ? etc. et.

Rush Limbaugh has said time and time again that he believes every person should have an equal opportunity to achieve as much of the American dream as their talent, ambition, and work ethic will allow. Doesn’t sound racist to me.

Maybe you should spend some time on the Google, looking up Rush quotes.

Rush can say he believes anything he wants, and your comment about what Rush allegedly said sounds wonderful. I know I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy right now.

With that comment, Rush joins most other conservatives who talk the talk, but don’t walk the walk. Sure, there are very few laws (except those against gay rights) remaining on the books saying that someone is not allowed the opportunity to work hard, get an education, and do well in life. The fact remains that not all Americans have equal opportunity in this country, no matter what idyllic things Rush says.

Here’s an analogy: Two runners are at the starting line; they are both at their peak of fitness; and they are equal in size, strength and motivation. The starting gun fires, and they both take off at top speed. Suddenly, one runner stops suddenly and falls to the ground. That runner has a ball and chain attached to one leg. The officials stop the race and remove the ball and chain from the runner’s leg, and declare that the race should resume. The problem is that the unencumbered runner is halfway around the track, while the other is ten feet from the starting line.

The good thing about this scenario is that the officials can be urged to start the race over, and assuming the now un-chained runner is not injured, they can race on an equal basis.

In life, not so much.

He is not.

Therefore, he is not forgiven. He is not redeemed – nor is he “on our side” or ever to be trusted. Period.

More than ONE MILLION innocent Iraqi women and children have been killed.

We have used depleted uranium weapons that will actually poison that land and create health problems for many, many generations.

And my lies allowed BILLIONS AND BILLIONS to be looted from the federal treasury, often TOTALLY UNACCOUNTED FOR!

And I didn’t really say I was sorry, nor did I do anything to CHANGE anything that my actions are directly responsible for.

But geeeeeeee…. you “progressives” should forgive me and worship me.

It will make me popular on the bobblehead circuit again when I criticize the current administration for the follies, all the economic problems, treason, war crimes, and crimes against humanity left over from MY work with the previous administration.
