Flashback: Palin said that women complaining about ‘excess criticism’ don’t ‘do us any good.’

Since announcing that she would resign as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin (R) has been blaming her decision on the “main stream media” and political operatives who accused her of “all sorts of frivolous ethics violations.” However, last year, Palin pointedly criticized Hillary Clinton during the presidential election for complaining about “excess criticism” and being put under “a sharper microscope”:

PALIN: When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, “Man that doesn’t do us any good — women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country.” I don’t think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or unfair, it is there, I think that’s reality, and I think it’s a given. I think people can just accept that she is going to be under the sharper microscope. So be it. I mean, work harder, prove yourself to an even greater degree that you’re capable, that you’re going to be the best candidate, and that of course is what she wants us to believe at this point.

    Does she ever shut up?

Go away already, Palin. Take some college courses and try to learn something.

    What a bumpkin she is!

  3. Patty says:

Now, hear ya go again, ya durn librul East Coast Washington press, playin’ gotcha with the words when, ya know?, it just comes full circle that with the workin’ for the people, for the good people from small towns, with the shorin’ up the economy — cause it’s gotta be about the economy and the shorin’ of it . . . .

  4. pags2 says:

She thinks she is entitled to be handled gently by the media lest her feelings be offended. The media should treat her like a woman and not ask hard questions even though she chose to run for political office. It figures she blames the mainstream media for all of her problems. Neocons never take responsibility.

  5. MCMetal says:

Why in the world is this uneducated bimbo prattling on about women progressing , when she is nothing more than a backwards-ass religious bumpkin herself ?

    – - One of THE big disappointments in Palin is that she reinforces negative stereotypes of women in management positions–she doesn’t play well with others, she doesn’t think strategically, everyone is always against her, she’s emotional, she holds a grudge and won’t walk away from a fruitless argument. Why shouldn’t she add “a woman’s right to change her mind” to the list?

Thanks, TP, for running this very trenchant video clip again. I remember it first came out the FIRST time Palin whined about media criticism, which is OK when turned against Dems like Hillary but not when she’s the object. Just goes to show us all her hypocrisy. Then she shows how graceless a speaker she is by using “progress” as a transitive verb. Uh, Sarah, there can be no object of the verb “to progress.” No wonder it took her six years to earn a college degree …

  14. paleolib says:

You don’t understand. Her resignation is a clever way of proving to the eastern lib-luvin’ media that she was right when she told Hillary to deal with it. Brilliant!

/still can’t believe anyone from the party that impeached a president over a bj and swiftboated a war hero has the nerve to whine about people being mean.

  15. skyreader7 says:

Woefully fit to be a politician because she can dish it out, but she can’t take it. How nice though that she will now make $11 million on a book deal plus more $Millions speaking to rabid tea-baggers and religious zealots. Nice life for her after all. Swimming in republican money. Don’t think they really got their money’s worth.

  17. LibertyLover says:

I’m just wondering…. how many books will her book actually sell since she is no longer the Governor of the State of Alaska? Why would anyone buy it? I can’t imagine that it would have any substance to it at all.

Or will it be just one of those pre-bought books like Ann Coulter’s books are that are bundled and given away to the RNC faithful?

  18. ElBruce says:

It’s interesting how the wingnut stance on her has changed.

At first, she was a the future of the Republican party! A breath of fresh air! Does things different up there! Real America!

Then when it became clear she didn’t actually know anything about government or policy, she became a “natural” with “great political instincts.” (i.e. she can magically deliver the same results as someone who knows what they’re doing).

But when it became clear that every other sentence in her stump speech was a lie, and Alaska requires more Federal earmarking to exist than any other state while itself practicing blatant socialism, she morphed into a small town gal takin’ on the big boys! Stood up to oil companies! Stood up to her own party!

Then when it turned out that “standing up to her own party” only meant that one time she ratted out on a co-worker she didn’t like and got him fired, and that “standing up to the oil companies” just meant following the contract bid rules already in place, she was now suddenly a moral-values type of person, a small-town frontierswoman who believes that all we need is morality and goodness, and who will bring that basic salt-of-the-earth decency to the rest of the country.

But when we found out that she’d been using the Alaska governorship as a personal fiefdom to target, intimidate and harass her personal enemies such as her ex-brother, she became a victim of those “Washington Democrat Lawyers,” sent up there by the thousands to search her closets for skeletons!

Of course, it readily became apparent that there was no army of lawyers, just lots of independently operating reporters from various MSM sources, all checking the facts independently. And regarding skeletons, the insides of her closets looked like a Cambodian work camp circa ‘76. It became increasingly clear that for every scurrilous tabloid-style rumor that turned out to be false, there were five much more damning rumors that turned out to be verifiably true.

She’s got nothing left to morph into at this point. All she can do is pop out of political existence.

i think ever “east coast liberal” ought to send cut n’ run palin a pacifier as a memento of what we think of her

I hope some major karmic event comes and kicks her in the pants.

  30. Roket says:

I’m just glad I’m not a transcriber of her ramblings. I would never know where to insert a period. Jeebus.

Also too, the problem with Sarah is that she now believes that she’s too big to fail. This concept of course is an Uber Fail.

  31. fletc3her says:

If you put Sarah Palin’s words into a character in a movie nobody would buy it. It’s hard to believe that those words came out of somebody who actually ran on a national ticket last year.

I’m just glad I’m not a transcriber of her ramblings. I would never know where to insert a period. Jeebus.

It’s even worse when she types it up herself. Exclamation points! Miscellaneous words capitalized FOR emphasis. Various other insanity. Here’s how her resignation speech starts out:

Hi Alaska, I appreciate speaking directly TO you, the people I serve, as your Governor.

People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska. Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.

Hi, Alaska! How ya doin? I’m going to preface bailing out on working for you by talking about what an honor it is to work for you. You’re great! I quit!

Also, the phrase “People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska” is repeated verbatim two paragraphs down.

Did I mention the exlamation points?

And this – “I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! ?” – yes, that’s a question mark. No idea what it’s doing there.

This would flunk a ninth-grade essay assignment.

  39. labman57 says:

Yes, remember last year, when Sarah Palin ripped Hillary Clinton for whining about her press coverage? What a difference a year makes.

At the time that Palin made those remarks, she was still getting her feet wet in the wading pool. Things look a bit different now that she has spent some time at the deep end where the grown-ups hang out.

Palin needs to learn that if you wish to take full credit for your own successes, then you must accept full responsibility for your own failures and shortcomings.

  44. Keith says:

I agree with everything El Bruce said @ #21.

If I had to guess, I would say she has a problem similar to Sen. Ted Stevens—-a company did a lot of work on her house in exchange for favors.

Others think that she is just not able to make the money she wants to make before 2012 as gov of Alaska. She would be able to make so much more on speaking tours, books, and maybe a FOX consultant. Voters will see her as quitting on everything she has ever done—including five colleges.

She says she is only doing what countless others have done, but she is held to a double standard. Who are these countless others?

  45. LibertyLover says:

If Palin had actually been doing her job, would she have had time to get her feelings hurt over anything anyone said about her?

I used to tell my kids that people that teased them were only trying to get a rise out of them. I guess Palin didn’t learn that lesson.

Sarah Palin is a serial and probably pathological liar.

    Just one example:

Katie Couric asked her whether she was a feminist. She said, “Yes!”

Brian Williams asked her the same question in a later interview. She completely avoided the question, answering indirectly.

This is all on video. The archive of material which can be used against Sarah Palin is STAGGERING.

She is easily the lease qualified individual to ever set foot on the national stage.

For eternity, she and “Joe the Plumber” will be the shameful legacy of John McCain’s fraudulent 2008 “Country First” disgrace of a campaign.
