Since announcing that she would resign as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin (R) has been blaming her decision on the “main stream media” and political operatives who accused her of “all sorts of frivolous ethics violations.” However, last year, Palin pointedly criticized Hillary Clinton during the presidential election for complaining about “excess criticism” and being put under “a sharper microscope”:
PALIN: When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, “Man that doesn’t do us any good — women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country.” I don’t think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or unfair, it is there, I think that’s reality, and I think it’s a given. I think people can just accept that she is going to be under the sharper microscope. So be it. I mean, work harder, prove yourself to an even greater degree that you’re capable, that you’re going to be the best candidate, and that of course is what she wants us to believe at this point.
Watch it:
Also. Too.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:06 pmDoes she ever shut up?
Go away already, Palin. Take some college courses and try to learn something.
What a bumpkin she is!
July 6th, 2009 at 5:07 pmNow, hear ya go again, ya durn librul East Coast Washington press, playin’ gotcha with the words when, ya know?, it just comes full circle that with the workin’ for the people, for the good people from small towns, with the shorin’ up the economy — cause it’s gotta be about the economy and the shorin’ of it . . . .
July 6th, 2009 at 5:07 pmShe thinks she is entitled to be handled gently by the media lest her feelings be offended. The media should treat her like a woman and not ask hard questions even though she chose to run for political office. It figures she blames the mainstream media for all of her problems. Neocons never take responsibility.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:10 pmWhy in the world is this uneducated bimbo prattling on about women progressing , when she is nothing more than a backwards-ass religious bumpkin herself ?
July 6th, 2009 at 5:10 pmFlashback: Palin said that women complaining about ‘excess criticism’ don’t ‘do us any good.’
July 6th, 2009 at 5:12 pm– - One of THE big disappointments in Palin is that she reinforces negative stereotypes of women in management positions–she doesn’t play well with others, she doesn’t think strategically, everyone is always against her, she’s emotional, she holds a grudge and won’t walk away from a fruitless argument. Why shouldn’t she add “a woman’s right to change her mind” to the list?
We always forget — IOKIYAR!!!
July 6th, 2009 at 5:15 pmAnd she was and is right.
She’s complaining about excess criticism and it isn’t doing her any good.
/NARF!
July 6th, 2009 at 5:17 pmperhaps cut n’ run palin should jot down her pearls of wisdom for publication. It could be billed as the white trash companion to franklin’s poor richard’s almanac
July 6th, 2009 at 5:19 pmShe have way with words.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:20 pmThanks, TP, for running this very trenchant video clip again. I remember it first came out the FIRST time Palin whined about media criticism, which is OK when turned against Dems like Hillary but not when she’s the object. Just goes to show us all her hypocrisy. Then she shows how graceless a speaker she is by using “progress” as a transitive verb. Uh, Sarah, there can be no object of the verb “to progress.” No wonder it took her six years to earn a college degree …
July 6th, 2009 at 5:27 pmThe latest Palin cartoon!
Screw you guys, I’m goin’ home…until I change my mind again, also too, you betcha
July 6th, 2009 at 5:29 pmThank goodness Palin the quitter did not get elected to office, know that was a true blessing.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:30 pmSarah Palin motto: “Do as I say, not as I do… Moose stew, anyone?”
July 6th, 2009 at 5:31 pmYou don’t understand. Her resignation is a clever way of proving to the eastern lib-luvin’ media that she was right when she told Hillary to deal with it. Brilliant!
/still can’t believe anyone from the party that impeached a president over a bj and swiftboated a war hero has the nerve to whine about people being mean.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:35 pmWoefully fit to be a politician because she can dish it out, but she can’t take it. How nice though that she will now make $11 million on a book deal plus more $Millions speaking to rabid tea-baggers and religious zealots. Nice life for her after all. Swimming in republican money. Don’t think they really got their money’s worth.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:36 pmI know we’re all suffering from compassion fatigue, but we all need to dig deep for a very worthy cause:
http://bgladd.com/SkinGrafts4Sarah.org
Give generously. Bless you.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:36 pmI’m just wondering…. how many books will her book actually sell since she is no longer the Governor of the State of Alaska? Why would anyone buy it? I can’t imagine that it would have any substance to it at all.
Or will it be just one of those pre-bought books like Ann Coulter’s books are that are bundled and given away to the RNC faithful?
July 6th, 2009 at 5:36 pmIt’s interesting how the wingnut stance on her has changed.
At first, she was a the future of the Republican party! A breath of fresh air! Does things different up there! Real America!
Then when it became clear she didn’t actually know anything about government or policy, she became a “natural” with “great political instincts.” (i.e. she can magically deliver the same results as someone who knows what they’re doing).
But when it became clear that every other sentence in her stump speech was a lie, and Alaska requires more Federal earmarking to exist than any other state while itself practicing blatant socialism, she morphed into a small town gal takin’ on the big boys! Stood up to oil companies! Stood up to her own party!
Then when it turned out that “standing up to her own party” only meant that one time she ratted out on a co-worker she didn’t like and got him fired, and that “standing up to the oil companies” just meant following the contract bid rules already in place, she was now suddenly a moral-values type of person, a small-town frontierswoman who believes that all we need is morality and goodness, and who will bring that basic salt-of-the-earth decency to the rest of the country.
But when we found out that she’d been using the Alaska governorship as a personal fiefdom to target, intimidate and harass her personal enemies such as her ex-brother, she became a victim of those “Washington Democrat Lawyers,” sent up there by the thousands to search her closets for skeletons!
Of course, it readily became apparent that there was no army of lawyers, just lots of independently operating reporters from various MSM sources, all checking the facts independently. And regarding skeletons, the insides of her closets looked like a Cambodian work camp circa ‘76. It became increasingly clear that for every scurrilous tabloid-style rumor that turned out to be false, there were five much more damning rumors that turned out to be verifiably true.
She’s got nothing left to morph into at this point. All she can do is pop out of political existence.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:38 pmi think ever “east coast liberal” ought to send cut n’ run palin a pacifier as a memento of what we think of her
July 6th, 2009 at 5:38 pmHer thorough lack of integrity allows her mantra to be
“Faith, family, and the ends justify the means. Also to and the good people of Alaska.”
July 6th, 2009 at 5:38 pmToo funny, BobbyG!
July 6th, 2009 at 5:40 pmPalin is just gonna stun us with her maverickyness.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:40 pmPalin is great to look at , but she is even dummer than Steele. She opens her mouth and does the GOP a world of good.
Keep talking Palin, and talking, and talking.
You are giving the Democrats a freebee.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:43 pmJust because Palin is a woman doesn’t mean she understands the internets better than any other Republican. They all think they can say what they want today, and what they said yesterday will never come back to haunt them.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:44 pmLipstick on a dipstick. The mavericky Alex Forrest of the Repu’ublicist party. Ya just gotta love it.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:46 pmCome on, let us all tell Sarah what we think of her quitting her job for a higher calling. Here is her e-mail: ttp://gov.state.ak.us/
July 6th, 2009 at 5:47 pmPROGRESS to Bible Spice Palin is being allowed to use a 50-caliber on a wolf ……………….
July 6th, 2009 at 5:49 pmHold on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton does not even like her. She keeps mentioning Clinton, and Clinton does not want to hear her screeching, obnoxious voice.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:52 pmHere in CA we have our own R governor who got his start by recalling the D Grey Davis. He’s miserable (you should see the pictures of him in the Times) but he’s not a QUITTER.
I’m not an Arnold fan, but if anyone could quit it should be him. He could go off and make another 7 – 10m per movie. He sticks it out and she QUITS.
I hope some major karmic event comes and kicks her in the pants.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:57 pmI’m just glad I’m not a transcriber of her ramblings. I would never know where to insert a period. Jeebus.
Also too, the problem with Sarah is that she now believes that she’s too big to fail. This concept of course is an Uber Fail.
July 6th, 2009 at 5:58 pmIf you put Sarah Palin’s words into a character in a movie nobody would buy it. It’s hard to believe that those words came out of somebody who actually ran on a national ticket last year.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:00 pmQuitter also, too, don’t chya know.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:05 pmI guess the next time I walk off a job I could just tell them I’m pullin a Palin.
New phrase for the Urban Dictionary.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:05 pmWay O/T, I just spent the weekend in LI,NY I used my sisters pc to get my daily fix of TP. When I got home I rebooted my pc and I was having problems getting on to TP. Talk about withdrawals. Do you think this is what it was like for limpdick to go through on oxy withdrawals? Home sweet home, Think progress. Thankyou Ms. Terkel.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:06 pm@AmericasBack Says:
flight Says: Palin is great to look at..
Really? I don’t think so. I think her face looks like a dog turd.
_____
She’s the Lenscrafters Gargoyle.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:14 pmRoket Says:
I’m just glad I’m not a transcriber of her ramblings. I would never know where to insert a period. Jeebus.
It’s even worse when she types it up herself. Exclamation points! Miscellaneous words capitalized FOR emphasis. Various other insanity. Here’s how her resignation speech starts out:
Hi, Alaska! How ya doin? I’m going to preface bailing out on working for you by talking about what an honor it is to work for you. You’re great! I quit!
Also, the phrase “People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska” is repeated verbatim two paragraphs down.
Did I mention the exlamation points?
And this – “I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! ?” – yes, that’s a question mark. No idea what it’s doing there.
This would flunk a ninth-grade essay assignment.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:20 pmBest part of this video is watching then AZ governor Janet Napolitano sit there quietly while governor Palin dug a hole for herself.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:22 pmpoliticians as hypocrites.
naw say it aint so.
drain the swamp now
but who would we replace wash with?
remember these folks are representative of America’s best.
Scary thought.
Of course we could put some wall street folks in congress
Or how about some GM folks
Get the picture this is a national problem
I.e. a capitalist problem
Capitalism breeds greed and self-interest and apathy.
Show me a repub that has compassion for any of the 47 million without health care insurance. New soul thing.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:27 pmYes, remember last year, when Sarah Palin ripped Hillary Clinton for whining about her press coverage? What a difference a year makes.
At the time that Palin made those remarks, she was still getting her feet wet in the wading pool. Things look a bit different now that she has spent some time at the deep end where the grown-ups hang out.
Palin needs to learn that if you wish to take full credit for your own successes, then you must accept full responsibility for your own failures and shortcomings.
July 6th, 2009 at 6:29 pmRepublicans don’t admit failures, they embrace them.

:)
Has a nice ring to it.
July 6th, 2009 at 7:23 pmwhat do you expect from a Republican? not to mention the gop trendsetter Palin.
July 6th, 2009 at 7:27 pmI agree with everything El Bruce said @ #21.
If I had to guess, I would say she has a problem similar to Sen. Ted Stevens—-a company did a lot of work on her house in exchange for favors.
Others think that she is just not able to make the money she wants to make before 2012 as gov of Alaska. She would be able to make so much more on speaking tours, books, and maybe a FOX consultant. Voters will see her as quitting on everything she has ever done—including five colleges.
She says she is only doing what countless others have done, but she is held to a double standard. Who are these countless others?
July 6th, 2009 at 8:02 pmIf Palin had actually been doing her job, would she have had time to get her feelings hurt over anything anyone said about her?
I used to tell my kids that people that teased them were only trying to get a rise out of them. I guess Palin didn’t learn that lesson.
July 6th, 2009 at 8:28 pmI found a great little selection of Reichwhiners responding to Bible Spice’s resignation. If you are in the mood for batscat, I highly recommend the clip of Mark Levin.

July 6th, 2009 at 8:51 pmYet another example of the good ole’ do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do Conservative mantra, this time brought to you by Sarah Palin.
All together now: IOKIYAR!

July 6th, 2009 at 10:09 pmNice link above, pete. Interesting and entertaining to see and hear the neoCon “intelligentsia” getting their collective panties in a wad.

How in the world Palin become Governor of Alaska is beyond me. The people of Alaska must really be stupid.
July 6th, 2009 at 11:14 pmSomebody please go away.
I do however think that Mika Brzezinski is running a close second in terms of my hatred.
Check out this clip of her defending Palin, saying something about “Real Americans” connect with Palin.
Disgusting

July 6th, 2009 at 11:35 pmNo ‘bombshell’ drove Palin resignation, lawyer says
CNN International – Drew Griffin, Kathleen Johnston – ?1 hour ago?
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — No legal “bombshell” or personal scandal lies behind Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s resignation, but off-color jokes by talk-show host David Letterman contributed to her decision to step down, Palin’s attorney said Monday.
yea right…
i just missed his monolog… oh, here’s a cut… he’s on it now…
oh hahaha! dave says he knows what she’s going to do next:
“SARAH & DAVE SHOW”!

i went to the first movie – loved it! he thought it sucked…
July 6th, 2009 at 11:58 pmi hope to see this new one… should be another fun ride…
Sarah Palin is a serial and probably pathological liar.
Just one example:
Katie Couric asked her whether she was a feminist. She said, “Yes!”
Brian Williams asked her the same question in a later interview. She completely avoided the question, answering indirectly.
This is all on video. The archive of material which can be used against Sarah Palin is STAGGERING.
She is easily the lease qualified individual to ever set foot on the national stage.
For eternity, she and “Joe the Plumber” will be the shameful legacy of John McCain’s fraudulent 2008 “Country First” disgrace of a campaign.
July 7th, 2009 at 12:43 am.
She sure beats the PIAPS by country mile!

She’s just plain ridiculous. Can you imagine if Obama responded to all the crazy name calling he has had to endure.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:26 amI can’t believe that anything hypocritical that a republican does surprises people anymore. I mean come on if you look up republican in the dictionary it says see Hypocrite and if you look up Hypocrite it says see republican. These republicans are so out of touch that I think that they actually believe that there isn’t a way to record what they are says or it could be that they believe that if the pray hard enough that it will all go away…LOL I really can’t understand how people can still believe and take these republicans serious enough to actually vote for them until I finally realized that they do so good in the south & areas with high illiteracy and dropout rates because only IGNORANT, UNEDUCATED, BIBLE THUMPING JESUS FREAKS are the people actually STUPID enough to fall for all the BULLSH*T, HATE, LIES & FEAR MONGERING that these hypocrites spew out daily. Their supporters are so blind that they believe that FOX is so “Fair & Balanced” & every other “News” station is biased & wrong. Give me a break you repuke supporters! Please smarten up or DON”T VOTE! It’s because of ignorant people that we got stuck with Bush for TWO TERMS! That guy is so stupid he shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car let alone “lead” a country! You vote for the SMARTEST person NOT the hick you would want to have a beer with! WHY OH WHY IS AMERICA SO FULL OF IGNORANT, RELIGIOUS, HYPOCRITICAL NUT JOBS? I WOULD RATHER HAVE A COUNTRY FULL OF INTELLIGENT ATHEISTS!
July 7th, 2009 at 10:00 am“Those who believe in absurdities will commit atrocities”
Next time you watch this video, keep in mind that Sarah is supposedly 7 months pregnant (video dated March, 2008). She’s sitting with legs crossed, leaning forward with elbow on knee… pretty amazing, really for someone in the third trimester.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:35 amSarah, it is women like you that cause problems for the rest of us. YOU are not part of the solution BUT the problem.
