Palin: My whining is different than Hillary Clinton’s.

sarh Since announcing that she would resign as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin (R) has been blaming her decision on the “mainstream media” and political operatives who accused her of “all sorts of frivolous ethics violations.” Ironically, Palin last year criticized Hillary Clinton for complaining about being put under “a sharper microscope,” saying that when there is “any kind of perceived whine” coming from a “woman candidate,” she thinks, “Man that doesn’t do us any good.” Time’s Jay Newton-Small asked Palin about this contradiction in a new interview. Palin replied that she’s totally different than Clinton because the accusations she’s facing are way worse:

What I said was, it doesn’t do her or anybody else any good to whine about the criticism. And that’s why I’m trying to make it clear that the criticism, I invite that. But freedom of speech and that invitation to constructively criticize a public servant is a lot different than the allowance to lie, to continually falsely accuse a public servant when they have proven over and over again that they have not done what the accuser is saying they did. It doesn’t cost them a dime to continue to accuse. That’s a whole different situation. But that’s why when I talk about the political potshots that I take or my family takes, we can handle that. I can handle that. I expect it. But there has to be opportunity provided for truth to get out there, and truth isn’t getting out there when the political game that’s being played right now is going to continue, and it is.

  6. tom says:

So, if you really want to get the truth out there, why don’t you admit that you repaid $10,000 of ineligible travel expenses? Why don’t you admit that you continue to live in your Wasilla home and illegally claim per diem and travel expenses instead of staying in Juneau (especially when the legislature is in session)?

Sorry, Failin’ Palin. Just because you say that you are being unfairly “criticized” doesn’t make it so. And you are whining about it.

All your recent actions have done is prove once again that you are a narcissistic boob who lives in a bubble of your own creation. And your resignation proves that you are a quitter.

Now please go quietly. This nation (and your state) has suffered your ego, your lying, your playing the victim card and your diva-ness for far, far too long.

  13. pags2 says:

Her statements are contradictory and make no sense. Her position is that the media are allowed to properly criticize a woman, but she gets to decide what is proper. This is Sarah Palin so playing the blame game is nothing new. She wants to be able to make ad hoc rules.

  14. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

It’s funny that she keeps calling the stream of allegations of ethics violations “frivolous”. Didn’t the first investigation find that she did in fact abuse her power but didn’t impose any legal consequences? Didn’t she have to pay monetary retributions in at least two of the other incidences? Hardly frivolous if you ask me. Also she constantly describes these accusations as being politically motivated. Weren’t most if not all of the allegations brought on by members of her own party? The dropped charges that she touts in these cases were each dropped by a commitee in which all members were appointed by her. Say it ain’t so, Sarah.

  19. ennealogic says:

Sarah Palin’s truth: “I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.”

That’s why she wants to be President. She thinks the good ol’ “Department of Law, there, in the White House” would protect her from people questioning her very questionable ethics.

She simply cannot separate the personal from the professional (or the political) which is apparent in the reasons she gives for resigning.

  20. Mark @ News Corpse says:

Palin is an excellent role model for all aspiring whiners and quitters.

Just look at the difference between her and Clinton. Clinton has been the target of lies and even attacks on her daughter. She didn’t quit. Take Sonia Sotomayor who is being called a racist and worse. She hasn’t quit. Palin’s attorney confessed that part of the reason Palin resigned was the jokes by Letterman.

Palin is the real joke. I really hope she runs for president. I need the laughs.

  21. IndSteveAZ says:

Public servant eh? is that like a community organizer sort of person who gives to their community? or maybe a domestic terrorist? come on Sarah. You took the job as pitbull in running and you executed your duties flawlessly; now own it.

  23. krazeeinjun says:

The day that Sarah Palin has her underwear drawer rummaged through by the likes of that GOP panties sniffer Kenneth Starr, is the day she can put her “whine” on the same level as that of Hillary Clinton.

    Just saying . . .

  24. misscoleopteramolly says:

Yes, I suspect that Palin’s situation is a bit different from Hillary’s. Palin is embattled from rumors and allegations of ethics violations and possible special under the table deals. Hillary was embattled from rumors and allegations of murder, insider trading, being a lesbian, engaging in extra-marital affairs, etc. — as well as her taste in clothing, her taste in husbands, her voice, and her looks.

In other words, the accusations against Palin appear to have some merit worth investigating, whereas the accusations against Hillary had far more to do with her being a strong intelligent (and therefore, threatening) woman.

Yes, Sarah — it IS a whole different situation. But not in the way you think, and not in any way that gives you justification to whine about how unfair it is.

  25. Dirty Hippie says:

an AP story today puts the cost of ethics investigations against Palin at 2 million bucks. The AP’s source? The Office of the Governor. The cost figure I’ve heard was 300K. 200K went for the ethics investigation she brought against herself, where her hand picked Personnel Board found no wrongdoing. A previous investigation for the same violations concluded she had committed ethics violations.

    STFU, Bible Spice.

Palin is right! The accusations levied against her are MUCH worse than the ones levied against Hillary! Like that Hillary was a secret lesbian who nonetheless was having an affair with Vince Foster and had him killed? Being a pretty woman accused of being kinda dumb is MUCH worse!

Though, I’m sure, if you were to talk to Palin off the record and after a couple of drinks (but not enough drinks for Palin to be COMPLETELY honest), she’d probably say the accusations against Hillary aren’t as bad “becuz they’re tuh-RUUUUE!”

    Dash garnit! I’ve been discovered!

  98. tombaker says:

The whining is, in fact, very different.

    It is groundless,

and it’s coming from a quitter.

  99. Tim Vaculick says:

Sarah Palin has educated herself. She is now schooled in world politics. Go ahead, ask her where the country of Africa is now – she’ll show you. Your kind may have thrown trick questions at her before, but now she is wise to your ways.

    pags2 Says:
Tim says; Why is it that you librals are so afraid of ‘right-wing’ talk show hosts? (They don’t call them RIGHT for nothing you know!) What harm do they do?

They lie, distort and misrepresent material facts to their listeners.

Oh. Whew! For a second I thought you were going to blame another shooting on those patriots. This is just rediculous!

  101. okie dokie says:

oh, yeah Timmeh. I think of Bush every day!

    When I buy gasoline.
    F..K..G BUSH

When I go to my business where nobody’s buying because they have to spend all of their money on insurance premiums, second mortgages, and overpriced prescriptions for their stress related illnesses because their retirement funds are gone.
    DAMN U BUSH

When I go to the bank and what little money I have is earning
.14% and if I have to spend it all just to get through the month WTF am I going to do. Gee, I guess Bush doesn’t have these problems!

When I hear my nephew is going to be deployed to Iraq for the fourth time or maybe sent to some other third world country where the Carlyle Group wants to drill for oil.
Gee, it’s like Bush is still president.

Yeah, timmeh. I think about Bush but it’s not history yet.
It’s very much a current event.

  102. angels81 says:

God I hope she runs in 2012. I think the repugs should just pick her right now. I hope we see a Palin/Bachman ticket in 2012. That would just be the greatest gift we could all get.

  103. TXProgressive says:

“But freedom of speech and that invitation to constructively criticize a public servant is a lot different than the allowance to lie, to continually falsely accuse a public servant when they have proven over and over again that they have not done what the accuser is saying they did. It doesn’t cost them a dime to continue to accuse.”

Ahhh…let’s try to clear this up Ms Palin…you mean like you did to Obama throughout the election?

I just can’t fathom what righties see in this woman, she’s an ignoramus. As I woman I find her and her schtick to be really insulting.

  104. dbadass says:

    Hi Tim Vaculik
Isn’t sort of early for you?

  105. Tim Vaculick says:

  107. dbadass says:

Well mostly that you seem to have entered some sort of space time continuum or maybe you are just jerking around instead of working. Than again maybe it is just a day off or something fun like that…. SNOWDAY?

  108. BuckarooBanzai says:

Sarah, you’ve made the first step in your Narcicissm addiction by resigning. Follow up and get completely out of politics, and public life. If you truly were putting your family first, you would just say please respect my privacy and turn down interviews. But you don’t care about your family, you care about you. And only you. Sarah, why do you hate your family so much that you continue to put them through this even when you recognize it’s hard on them. Because you are a narcissist who believes that the world can’t do without the wisdom and sharp intellect of Sarah Palin. Do your family, and the world, a favor and really retire.

  109. BuckarooBanzai says:

    Tim Vaculick Says:
Why is it that you librals are so afraid of ‘right-wing’ talk show hosts? (They don’t call them RIGHT for nothing you know!) What harm do they do? All they are is entertainment. OK, I also get my news from them at times – but mostly they are entertainers. Learn to distinguish fact from fantacy democrates.

So Bill O’Reilly calling for the murder of Dr.Tiller was just entertainment? You are sick. And learn how to spell fantasy correctly. I know the burden of that home school education must be tough to bear, but please just try.

  110. nanlichi says:

Can Bible Spice piss and whine at the same time?

  118. blackwidow says:

    Beyotch please.
Until Ma and Pa Palin are accused of killing a close friend (Vince Foster for you kiddies out there) and making it look like a suicide she needs to just STFU.

  119. DallasNE says:

As near as I can make out, Sarah Palin just used a circular argument to justify her behavior. It’s hard to really tell since her sentence structure is so terribly disjointed and rambling. I better be careful though. She will snap back that I’m not listening when in reality she is not articulating.

  120. ElBruce says:

    Trollspotter Says:

The original Tim Vaculik poster has only one “c” in the handle.

Good catch, thanks. I was fooled too. Usually I don’t fall for those, but it says something about Timmeh that such an over-the-top parody was actually able to pass for a little while.

    The Young Republican Says:

This is not the real Tim V, his name has been hijacked by a liberal troll. Look it’s even spelled differently. sad libs.

If you had half the brain you think you have, you’d realize it wasn’t a “liberal troll” at all, but a long-running disruption troll who has been banned repeatedly. Most of its “comments” are simple insults directed at liberals, or attention-grabbing compliments for wingnuts, but it’s not clear the troll has any real political opinions at all. It’s here for the attention, and spews whatever it takes to get the greatest reaction. Truly a pathetic individual in need of long-term counseling and medication.

But, no, dumbo, not a “liberal.”

  126. RUCeriousMaggot! says:

Now Ms. Sarah can go back to any of the six colleges she quit on earlier and complete her educumation.

  131. mary lacewing says:

    Young Republican Says:

    Well that explains a lot!

Because being a gay republican must be really confusing considering how not gay-friendly the republican party is! No wonder you’re spending so much time here. Come into the light!

  132. Young Republican says:

Mary, will you take me by the hand and show me the way? (or better, do you have any cute guy friends that will show me the way?) Make sure they know I’m a gay African American though, cause I’ve been stood-up before, and honey, it doesn’t feel too good.

  133. Bozo The Neoclown says:

“Palin: My whining is different than Hillary Clinton’s.”
she’s right for once. hillary clinton never gave sixteen interviews a day whining and complaining.

  134. johnny dol1ar says:

    What?

You come here hitting on liberal men but don’t know how to use the giggles to find the “young republican homosexual cabin” site.

  135. dasm says:

Palin: “But that’s why when I talk about the political potshots that I take or my family takes, we can handle that. I can handle that. I expect it.”

What a boldfaced liar this stupid woman is. She can’t handle anything.

  136. Leftside Annie says:

Awwwww, poor widdle Sawah! Those big ole MSM bullies are being MEAN to her!!!

LEAVE SAWAH ALONE!!! SHE’S A HUMAN, DAMMIT!!!

  137. Dabb says:

Palin is a hypocrite…plain and simple.

Also, her little analogy about the point guard passing the ball hasn’t made a lot of sense to me. Since when does a point guard pass the ball and walk off the court??? Ohhhh that’s right. Only Point Guard Palin leaves the game … just because she wants to. geeeez what a joke!

  138. ElBruce says:

Let’s look at a list of past Republican and Democratic primary winners:

2008: John McCain, sitting Senator vs. Barack Obama, sitting Senator
2004: G.W. Bush, sitting President vs. John Kerry, sitting Senator
2000: G.W. Bush, sitting Governor of Texas vs. Al Gore, sitting Vice President
1996: Bob Dole, sitting Senator vs. Bill Clinton, sitting President
1992: G.H.W. Bush, sitting President vs. Bill Clinton, sitting Governor of Arkansas
1988: G.H.W. Bush, sitting Vice President vs. Michael Dukakis, sitting Governor of Massachussetts
1984: Ronald Reagan, sitting President vs. Walter Mondale, former Vice President
1980: Ronald Reagan, sitting Governor of California vs. Jimmy Carter, sitting President
1976: Gerald Ford, sitting President vs. Jimmy Carter, sitting governor of Georgia
1972: Richard Nixon, sitting President vs. George McGovern, sitting Congressman
1968: Richard Nixon, former Vice President vs. Hubert Humphrey, sitting Vice President
1964: Barry Goldwater, sitting Senator vs. Lyndon Johnson, sitting President
1960: Richard Nixon, sitting Vice President vs. John Kennedy, sitting Senator

In the last fifty years, only two contenders not currently holding elected office (Nixon and Mondale) were able to win their party primary. But both of those had been vice President four years earlier. Only one of those (Nixon ‘68) was able to win the Presidency.

There’s no way Palin can win now that she’s quit. She might have had an outside chance if she hadn’t.

  139. EugeneDebs says:

What Bimbostien is trying to say is its ok for her to do the same thing she criticized Hillary for doing because she is special. I guess that would be shortbus special.

  140. green says:

Excellent ElBruce! Yet I cannot believe that Palin would win the nomination even if she stayed on as governor. There is too much at stake and I think the majority of Americans know that.

As far as Timmy – I think he is a 14 – 16 year old boy who doesn’t get much attention anywhere, and he’s on summer vacation. He has no friends, no job, no talents – he comes here for the attention he desperately craves. Right now his parents are probably at the local bar getting smashed. Sad. But ignoring is best.

  141. Liberal Kelly says:

There is something seriously wrong with this woman. I have a friend who is almost identical in personality as Palin and for a long time now, I have thought that my friend suffered from narcissistic personality disorder. Since it was recently brought up that she may suffer from NPD, I decided to do some research. I am thoroughly convinced that my friend as well as Palin both suffer from this disorder. They both show these classic signs of the disorder:

    * Believing that you’re better than others
    * Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness
    * Exaggerating your achievements or talents
    * Expecting constant praise and admiration
    * Believing that you’re special
    * Failing to recognize other people’s emotions & feelings
    * Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans
    * Taking advantage of others
    * Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior
    * Being jealous of others
    * Believing that others are jealous of you
    * Trouble keeping healthy relationships
    * Setting unrealistic goals
    * Being easily hurt and rejected
    * Having a fragile self-esteem
    * Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional

Although some features of narcissistic personality disorder may seem like having confidence or strong self-esteem, it’s not the same. Narcissistic personality disorder crosses the border of healthy confidence and self-esteem into thinking so highly of yourself that you put yourself on a pedestal. In contrast, people who have healthy confidence and self-esteem don’t value themselves more than they value others.

When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don’t receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may also seek out others you think have the same special talents, power and qualities — people you see as equals. You may insist on having “the best” of everything — the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.

But underneath all this grandiosity often lies a very fragile self-esteem. You have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. (Sound familiar?)You may have a sense of secret shame and humiliation. And in order to make yourself feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and efforts to belittle the other person to make yourself appear better.(This also sounds familiar)

I just thought the whole thing was interesting. She absolutely suffers from egomania. Someone like this can be very, very frightening in a position of power.

  144. okie dokie says:

Hillary isn’t a narcissist, but Bill is!
    I love him anyway.

  145. okie dokie says:

Liberal Kelly- Yes, Palin obviously has NPD.

Other traits you may not have mentioned:

    Egocentric thinking and beliefs
    Intolerance of critisism
    Refusing to accept blame
    Magical thinking
    Selective memory
    Projection
    Lack of empathy
    Manipulating friends and family
    Whining and complaining
    Pathological lying
    Verbally and/or physically abusive
    Reinventing themselves
    Abandoning jobs and/or relationships
    Unforgiving-holds grudges
    Easily insulted
    Stunted sense of humor
    Overuse of cliche’s

One can have a narcissistic personality (most everyone in public life does) without it being a disorder.

    Does Sarah hve NPD?
    You betcha!!!

We will pay for our insolence!?! Oh please Timmy, do you really, truly believe that St. Sarah will become our next president? Bah ha ha ha ha! She won’t EVER become your parties presidential candidate. She has blown her political career by showing how STUPID and UNIFORMED she really is.
