McCain Offers Full-Throated Defense Of Palin: ‘She Would Make A Fine President’

In a recent article for Vanity Fair, Todd Purdum reported that some of John McCain’s closest advisers “believed for certain [Sarah Palin] was nowhere near ready for the job, and might never be.” This morning, McCain bucked those criticisms of Palin, and instead offered a vigorous (and sometimes nauseating) defense of his selection of her as his running mate.

Asked by host David Gregory what he thought of Palin quitting her job as Governor of Alaska, McCain said, “I don’t think she quit,” adding “I don’t know there was a quote, promise” that she made to the voters of Alaska. Gregory pressed:

GREGORY: Senator McCain, you have faced personal torture, personal attacks, political attacks, investigations. You have never resigned from anything. Is it consistent with your qualities of leadership to resign an elected post like this?

McCAIN: Sure.

GREGORY: It is consistent?

McCain said, “I know she’s qualified. … No doubt about it.” He added, “I’m confident she would make a fine president.” Gregory concluded by asking, “Knowing everything you know now, would you pick her again?” McCain unhesitatingly responded, “Absolutely.” Watch it:

Update The Washington Times reports that Palin will quickly jump "back into the national political fray." "I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," Palin said over lunch in her downtown office. "People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican."

Right, McStain. Palin didn’t, quote “promise” to actually serve the people of Alaska, she just quote “took the oath” to do just that.

I call bullshit on McLame. He was far more honest right after the election when he specifically failed to mention Princess Wasilla as a future leader of the party.

Every week I find myself writing to MTP complaining about David Gregory. His performance today with McCain was the worst case of pandering to date – he let McCain speak endlessly without challenge for half the show.
McCain is an old man who has seen better days; and his over the top praise of Palin with nothing substantial contained within that praise was pathetic — it sort of reflected who McCain is today. People should know when to exit the stage.

Can we all write to MTP and demand that Gregory be replaced?

This outrageous performance by McCain seconded only by the performance of Gregory. When Schumer followed, he was given half the time and was immediately put on the defensive for the entire segment. RNC talking points are disguised as facts in questioning.
I am inclined toward watching THIS WEEK more often even though George Will and Cokie Roberts induce a double dose of nausea. (Cokie used RNC erroneous claims as fact in her arguments.)

  30. gummble-bee-itch says:

Palin: “People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican.”

I wonder when they got tired of “the partisan stuff”, Sarah. Maybe after watching your jackboot speeches at GOP rallies last Fall?

The “elite” conservatives are running away from Palin as fast as they can, claiming she’s either not running, she’s not electable, or that she needs to take a long study break before she runs for (gulp) President. It’s more and more obvious that she doesn’t give a damn what the “elite” have to so and that she has every intention of spending the next three years positioning herself as the GOP nominee in 2012. And laugh all you want at that idea, she wouldn’t be the first moron to end up in the White House — not even close.

  32. Cal Malenky says:

At this point, he’s only defending himself for choosing her. He’s been getting slammed from all sides lately for making such a cynical, reckless choice. A heartbeat away from the presidency held by an old man with a history of cancer.
Since Nixon, the GOP has treated politics like a football game. Only interested in winning, not playing the game. It doesn’t matter if their candidate hasn’t the intellect, experience, persistence to be an sane, effective world leader, or the willingness to finish a job. If she’s attractive and appeals to the resentments and religious ideology of the base, that’s all they need. Fortunately, they’re wrong.
Palin takes everything personally. If she were president, the military would have to be on high alert all the time, ready to respond to Palin’s pique over a perceived personal slight. President Obama has an entire TV news channel and most of talk radio devoted to bringing him down. He’s facing an opposition party who sees their role as insurgents. How would she be able to handle that?
Palin sees a couple of critical magazine articles, a late night talk show host and curious reporters as her mortal enemy and says that’s why she’s quitting her job. How would she ever cope as president.
It’s those questions that make a lot of people glad that McCain didn’t win.

I have hated Cokie Roberts since 1984, listening to her “analysis” of the VP debates between Ferraro and Bush I, where she proclaimed Bush the winner, on NPR. This was such a blatant distortion of what had just concluded that I began paying more attention to her and realizing over time what a dirtbag she really is.

And don’t forget: “I know his grandmother lives in Hawaii and I know Hawaii is a state, but it has the look of him going off to some sort of foreign, exotic place.” Roberts continued: “He should be in Myrtle Beach, and, you know, if he’s going to take a vacation at this time.”

  47. Soapm says:

How can you serve most effectively? One of the things that plagued Palin was returning home after some of the things she said while running for VP. She began to loose support from some of her own supporters and Government in AK became partisan and ineffective. Now she is free to say or do anything she wants since she no longer has constituents or accountability with voters. This woman is about to be a loose cannon saying any and everything the far right wants to hear. I don’t know if this is serving but it certainly will be effective.

Those who go for this are described in the Bible as “those with itchy ears”…

That adds even more irony to my comparison because Bailin’ Failin’ Palin isn’t really eligible for higher public office or for being paid any further attention by the media or dead-enders who support her either. However, none of that stopped her from quitting her job and abandoning Alaskans.

The Palin during the election was not the same Palin AK knew or made Gov which made her administration inefective when she returned from the campaign trail. The Palin the GOP loves is not the Palin who was mayor of Wasilla or Gov of AK, they fell in love with a character who was created to unite a fragmented party clear down to the fictional rejection of the bridge to the expensive clothe she wore. Palin’s speeches, positions and message of conservatism were created by the McCain campaign with a specific purpose in mind. Now there is a career and following for the fictional character they created since the true politician, Sarah Palin, became inefective. Only in America folks…

Thank you, Rich H. You know the “Sacred Store” mentioned in the original verse of that? I once met the guy that ran that place on a train ride home (a long, long time ago). It was a music store that had booths where you could sit and listen to the albums through headphones. He knew Don McLean. (And he told me that I’m no Don McLean.) He used to come in when he was younger. Over time, the booths stopped working. He said that Mclean stopped in one day, long after he had moved away from the area, and asked about the booths, and, as the song goes, “the man there said the music wouldn’t play.”

So that’s my two degrees of separation from Don McLean. :)

Aside from that, if she does run for Prez, she’ll have a Darth Cheney clone as VP candidate, just like the Shrub did, so in the unlikely event of a tastefully stolen election, you know she’ll run right down the fascist corporatist side of the establishment track.

I grew up in a small town and it was a big deal when a record shop opened up. We’d be able to come in and browse the LP’s and he’d even order something for us if he didn’t have it. And of course, you could always buy something on layaway (without interest).

  89. pete says:

    Wayne Says:
Actually John pretty much wrecked his own election before Palin even came on the scene. His “suspension” of his campaign, forgetting about those new fangled devices called video cameras recording every time he changed what he was saying whenever he was in front of a different crowd. Changing positions faster than the weather. John f-cked himself over well enough without Palin’s help.

I’m not so sure, Wayne. While I’ll grant the fact that Jesus Himself could have lost to any Democrat, Palin was a huge factor in Flippy McSpin’s legacy. He’s always been erratic. His whole “maverick” image was built by talking one way and voting another. But?

The choice of running mate is viewed as the first Presidential decision. It’s not just rhetoric or a Senate vote. And, while most non-Republicans had indeed made up their minds, Bible Spice cost McCain moderate Republicans. He failed his first and, thankfully, last Presidential decision.

As for Bible Spice’s own bat scattery. I think she really is stupid enough to think that she can lead a new “True Christian/conservative” party with a core of completely irrational idiots and a platform out of the Dark Ages.

  92. Wiz says:

Palin will suck up much of the GOP cash and attention. This is the greatest news for Democrats. It will hurt GOP candidates that may have some chance to get elected. When she hits the lower 48 on her cash-in tour she will be without handlers, that McCain’s staff provided during the campaign. If any other Republicans want to have a chance to get elected that will have to attack Palin, which they really can’t do because Rush will defend her. It is so delicious.

  93. Rich H says:

    Pete,

I agree, but I think it’s “into” the dark ages.

And I think if the Republican Party splits, it will be a good thing. I’m predicting if it does, it will split along three lines, the social conservatives, the fiscal conservatives, and the libertarians. Some of the conservative Democrats will change parties probably to the fiscal conservative party.

I also think that the more progressives in the Democratic party will split off not long after that to form a party of their own. I think it will make for better government since what we have right now is pretty much the same party with two different names.

  95. rrgross says:

We knew he was old; now, he’s senile.

  96. pete says:

Either way, Rich H, we could argue that we are in a dark age that began the second the “Moral Majority” began driving our country’s policy. The GOoPers have spent the last thirty years, or so, vilifying science and learning with a venom that rivals the Inquisition.

And yet? Bible Spice manages to come off as even more primitive in her thinking.

  97. Wiz says:

In looking a the video, when asked if Palin was qualified, McCain looks down. This is a sign of deception. Maybe ORielly can analyze it with his body language expert.

One other thought, any quess how much cash Palin will sock away in the next year? My guess $10 million. By 2012 she could have $30-40 million. Let see who she hires as a manager, then we will know her intentions.

  98. pete says:

Could be, Lefty Liberal. I think it’s very likely that the GOP as we know it is dying. Someone may lay claim to the name but the demographics will be different.

Personally, I think the most likely split is between the secular neocons, who have used the religious right, and the irrational kooks who have convinced themselves that Jesus was a right-winger.

  99. linkwray says:

To David Gregory: ” I knew Tim Russert and he was a moderate Republican and let me tell you your no Tim Russert.” In fact, your a smarmy, establishment-supporting, sad excuse for a journalist and should be writing articles for People Magazine on Sarah Palin’s choice of toenail color. That way you could smell as well as kiss her, ahem, feet while having your hand on David Brooks other thigh. I’m sure you’re quite a multi-taker because you can speak out of both sides of your mouth so well already. Watch out for the toejam from those waiters.

  100. tarazan says:

O/T: Driving back to the office after lunch break, dealing with traffic, I have come to a conclusion.

    pete Says:

Personally, I think the most likely split is between the secular neocons, who have used the religious right, and the irrational kooks who have convinced themselves that Jesus was a right-winger.

If the economy starts to come back and the Republicans take a beating at the polls in 2010, I think there will be a push for a break up. If the economy doesn’t start showing signs of improvement, then I think there will be a significant increase in Republicans winning in 2010 and that will push the break up out farther.

It will happen at some point, and exactly where the fault line will be is anybody’s guess, it will just be who is blaming who for election losses at the time.

  105. pete says:

Speaking of the exodus from the GOP, did everyone catch the Pew Research poll about the politics of scientists? Only 6% of scientists polled identified themselves as Republicans. Just another example that those with critical thinking skills have decided the GOP has nothing to offer.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/10/only-six-percent-of-scien_n_229382.html

  106. pete says:

Could be, Lefty Liberal, but I think a massive split in the GOP is becoming more likely with each passing day. They don’t have any new disasters to blame on the “libruls”, though that doesn’t stop them from blaming the “libruls” for everything anyway, so they are blaming each other. And things are being said that won’t be easily forgiven.

Heck! We may end up with a third party quicker than anyone would have thought before the last election.

  107. moltar says:

So, Palin’s “best way of serving” the office was to leave the office. You can’t argue with that logic.

  108. pete says:

    Dr. Hussein Matt Says:
I’m surprised it’s even that high. In my 15 years of research, I have only come across two reich-winger scientists, and one of them recently converted thanks to Stupid Sarah.

I know what you mean. My guess is that the 6% is represented by “scientists” like Michael Behe, Ken Ham, and Kent Hovind.

But, all snark aside, it’s a glaring condemnation of the GOP. Their rabid anti-intellectualism has driven the intellectuals out of the party.

  109. Dabb says:

“I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things,….”

Right things huh? Right things according to Palin.

When she grows up and realizes that the world does not revolve around her, then just maybe, though I doubt it, someone might try to give her some credit. But first she will have to study the english language, geography and world history. And, Sarah, there will be an exam.

  110. Marie says:

    linkwray (#99) well said.

I always thought the centrist Russert leaned too far right, but Gregory is pathetic in his fawning and repetition of republican talking points.

There really isn’t anyone for the left on mainstream media — Olbermann and Maddow and Schultz and Schuster on MSNBC, sure, but MSNBC is not mainstream – it is a premium cable channel.
Newspapers are corporate owned by rabidly right ring moduls.
News-talk shows don’t even provide a balance of liberal guests for the rightwing nutcases they seem to prefer.

  111. Jackie says:

Good to hear Sarah will be all over the country talking and asking for money. McCain wont remember what he said two minutes ago. As for Palin’s son well he was given a choice by the Judge after being found guilty of a crime. Either jail or the Military so now the young man has a criminal record so he could still join the Republican Party as all have their own crimes and sins.

  112. alvimana says:

“I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation,” ========= McShame is, after all, a political animal. He wasn’t quick to defend her before she quit. All this adulation will buy him her support in the future. At the same time, failin’ palin will get recognition stumping for other republican candidates while garnering their support and media attention for her own ambitions.

  113. DallasNE says:

I don’t think the Republican base will be very happy with these latest rants coming from the mouth of Sarah Palin. Will she bolt for the Libertarian party? With a loose cannon like this, you can never tell.

  114. Willy says:

*** a bit off topic, but still re: Palin

Whenever there’s a story on TP about Palin I’ve noticed that there occasionally will be comments left here about Palin’s attractiveness or that she’s a MILF or a wannabe PILF or whatever. However, I just can’t relate. I find that there is something very repugnant about her, even before she opens her screechy mouth. I think I have reasonably normal standards in regard to the attractiveness of women, but with Palin I can’t relate to anyone finding her even remotely desirable (sexually speaking).

    I. “The Good Samaritan” – Luke 10:25-37
    25. And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
    26. He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
    27. And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
    28. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
    29. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
    30. And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
    31. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
    32. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
    33. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
    34. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
    35. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
    36. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
    37. And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

    II. “Forgiveness” – Matthew 18
    1. At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
    2. And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
    3. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
    4. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
    5. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
    6. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
    7. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
    8. Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
    9. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
    10. Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
    11. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
    12. How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
    13. And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
    14. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
    15. Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
    16. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
    17. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
    18. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
    19. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
    20. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
    21. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
    22. Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
    23. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
    24. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
    25. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
    26. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
    27. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
    28. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
    29. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
    30. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
    31. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
    32. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
    33. Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
    34. And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
    35. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
    36. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
    37. And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

III. “Authority over Foolishness” – Matthew 16:22-23
    22. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
    23. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

    IV. “Direction” – Proverbs 25:18-28
    18. A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
    19. Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
    20. As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
    21. If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
    22. For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
    23. The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
    24. It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
    25. As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
    26. A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
    27. It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
    28. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

    V. “Identification” – 1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

VI. “Direction of Leadership and Excellence(No pears 4 Swine)”
Matthew 24:42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

2 Timothy 4:17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth.

James 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 1:13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

As a registered independent voter, I believe Sarah Palin is the most promising and capable candidate for the Presidency of the United States that this country has seen in many decades.

She is extremely intelligent, a natural born leader and wonderfully gifted in the area of leadership. She can be trusted which cannot be said of current politicians in Washington. She is the only bright star on the horizon in getting America back on it’s feet.

Sarah Palin, (I hope and pray will run for President in the next election) has my vote, will get my vote, and I will
be contacting everyone I know and do everything I can to get her elected.

  155. christopher wiwi says:

I hope these clowns run her and Bobby J,or Tim Pawlenty or the fat cat from Mississippi, lets see…… I am sure the death penalty lovin, god fearing, gay bashing, gun totin, bigots have got to have some one better than these clowns……….NOT! And boy what a ringing endorsement coming from Johnny McWars himself.

Nothing this old fool says surprises me. How can he not know she quit her job as being governor of Alaska and in the same breath say she’ll be a great president. How stupid is that?

Sarah Palin is like a painful bunion on the foot of America.

Totally disregarding established state procedure, Palin pulled yet another act of nepotism when she bypassed the state legislature and appointed her childhood friend Craig Campbell to be the replacement Lt. Governor when Sean Parnell steps up to fill the vacancy left by her sudden resignation.

Palin seems to regard “not playing by the rules” as a character attribute rather than a flaw, and she remains as undisciplined as ever with her “fly by the seat of her pants” decision-making style.

    How mavericky of her.

  161. Live Free says:

She may not have a real long job history, but if you compare it to Obummers, I would say that she is just as qualified. At least she wouldn’t be going around apologizing to every country in the world and sucking up to some really evil people. Obummers inexperience already showed when he didn’t think through closing down Club Gitmo. I think many people don’t like her because she has a backbone and does not take any crap, unlike Obummer. After Obummer and the demonrats in congress get done spending this country into bankruptcy and there are no jobs and inflation is out of control, you will wish you had not voted for Obummer and the demonrats!

  162. HippieKiller says:

Obama lied and the Country died! Where has Obama been the past week when the national unemployment rate is in the double digits and some states have almost 30% of their population unemployed? Where has Obama been while the DOW is plummeting? Oh, I know, he has been out of the Country giving away the store and its freshly printed money!!!!!!!! His stimulus package did so well that Elkart Indiana now has an unemployment rate of 27%!!!! Didn’t Obama go to Elkart to push this so-called recovery act? I see Caterpillar is still laying off their employees. Serves them right for jumping in bed with Obama!! I see GE is the new Halliburton… controlling the airwaves, green energy, and more!! Mr. ANTI-WAR Obama is sending 35,000 servicemen and women to their deaths in Afganistan, a terrain that no country has been able to defeat. I am sure Our military brothers and sisters feel the love and support of our Commander-in-Chief, and agree with the “miranda right” policy in the war zone. I guess Obama felt that foreign policies are more important at the moment than our domestic problems. That’s o:k, little Jimmy can eat next week perhaps. This cardboard box should be able to keep the rain off Susie’s head. Dad can ration his insulin, he is not working.

But that is O:K you heartless, callous, non-wits, you keep making fun of Senator John McCain and Governor Sara Palin. Calling McCain gramps and making fun of his disfigurements from the Vietnam war as a POW is truly hilarious!!! Oh, and there’s FAILIN’ BAILIN’ PALIN. Yeah, yeah that’s funny. She has more executive experiences in her pinky finger than Obama has in his whole body. Wait, he was a thug, I mean, a community organizer with ACORN. Right. But he’s a Harvard man, via Columbia, via Occidental…where Barry received Pellent grant as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia. No fraud committed there, no sir! Hey, Obama, where’s your birth certificate!!!!!

Hey, hey, McCain, your pants are on fire!!! That’s a good one Jon Stewart. Did he think of that himself or did someone write it for him. It looked to me that he read it off of the teleprompter!! Gee Jon, you have something in common with Obama.

Let me get this right. Making fun of McCain and Palin is good for the Country, and giving Obama a pass to run away and see the world instead of working for the People. Isn’t that considered dereliction of duty? We all know that he can’t keep his promises nor abide by his oath of office.

Be reading about you all in the funny papers. God bless and good night.

  163. HippieKiller says:

Sorry, I forgot. Progressives do not believe in God. My bad. May mother earth bless you and keep you cool. And please mother earth, forgive Algore for he knows not what he does. Could you please see beyond his huge carbon footprint and spot him a few carbon coupons. He needs to be able to travel from coast to coast in his private jet. It would mean a lot to the little leftist celebrity greenies who are making only a few million per movie now that the economy is bad. I understand that they love to hang out with him. Can’t we help them out, please? I can sell my silver fillings for money to donate to their cause.

  166. Foxtrottango2 says:

It can be said that the outburst in defense of Sarah Palin is John McCain’s finest moment. But what else can he do, admit that he made a mistake? He is a Republican and no amount of denial or lying is going to make him tell the truth. And only the truth shall set him free.

Truth, loyalty, honor, moral fiber, dignity, fairness and justice have no meaning for Republicans.

  167. glogrrl says:

pags2 sez: Good grief. McCain’s first mistake was selecting her.

  168. glogrrl says:

RE: #172(Sorry, hit “enter” too soon)

I meant to add….McCain did not select her. She was forced on him by “William the Bloody” Krystal and the religious nuts that run the Republican party. McCain wanted Tim Pawlenty. McCain was told that unless he chose her, the Big Whigs of the party would not support him. And since his ambition knew no bounds, he had to take her in order to get the party support. And still is, if he wants their support to stay in office…otherwise, he’d have to go out and get a real job.

  169. glogrrl says:

HippieKiller sez: Obama lied and the Country died! Where has Obama been the past week when the national unemployment rate is in the double digits and some states have almost 30% of their population unemployed? Where has Obama been while the DOW is plummeting?

What have you been smokin’? People didn’t just start losing their jobs when Obama was inaugurated…Georgie Porgie Bush had spent 8 years stealing from the country and shoveling all the money into his, Cheney’s and their buddies’ pockets…draining the country’s reasources into the military industrial complex, stripping away every check and balance there ever was in this countrY against thieves like them…and then slunk out of office leaving a steaming pile of shit for Obana to deal with. It took 30 years of Rethuglican rule (since Reagan, the greatest thief this country has ever known–until Bush and Cheney) to get firmly implanted in this fiscal ditch, and we’re not gonna get out of it anytime soon. Not even God could fix this mess quickly. You could send Chimpy and Darth Cheney a thank you note, though….I’m sure that being such a strong supporter of theirs, you are just sittin’ pretty, financially speaking.

  170. MuzeBl says:

    Thanks glog.

John Stewart was kinda joking when he said…”OK, you’re working on our pathetic international relations, that’s nice….but WHAT ABOUT THE ECONOMY???”
    The man had me rollin’.
Obama is the one who FINALLY told the truth about the economy. The establishment has been lying about it for YEARS. The Big O was truthful from the beginning…we’re in it deep, and it will get worse before it gets better.

Wasn’t Bush still on vacation by this time in his first term?
And yes…after all the mess they made of the economy and international relations, it just had to be Obama to fix it.
America cries out in panic…SAVE ME BLACK MAN, SAVE ME!!!!

I mean really… it just HAD to be a Black man or a woman sent to clean up this mess…history just repeating itself…
and the genius over there has the NERVE to say…
    “oh, you missed a spot!~”

A halfwit like Bush thought he could run the country by remote control from Camp David.
Didn’t this fool hear? They let Obama keep his Blackberry!

(for those McCain/Palin folks….a Blackberry is an electronic communication device with lot of buttons and pretty colors)

  171. HippieKiller says:

    Hey Jane E. Sneider,
I see that you are selling cookies. Got any for me? Its good that you aren’t just giving your cookies away. You must have been brought up by a God-fearing mother. That’s a good thing.

  172. EugeneDebs says:

HippyLicker did you come back for more spankings? You ignorant punkass troll? You are so stupid you are barely batting practice. You are so embarassing most morons hide their face and shake their heads at the mere mention of your name. Your stupid is a stench in the nostrils of decent human beings. You are a subhuman moron. You are also a liar and a fool. So take your brainwashed stupidity fold it till its all corners and deposit it where the sun never shines. You are so stupid you make tile grout look like a higher lifeform.

  173. bluesunflower says:

Really, in order to maintain his credibility – especially within his own party – can McCain honestly be able to say anything else about Palin? I think not. He’s got to defend his choice.
