Meghan McCain: ‘Joe the Plumber — you can quote me — is a dumbass.’

joeThe day before the White House Correspondents dinner, Jamie Kirchick interviewed Meghan McCain for Out, largely focusing on her outspoken support of gay rights. During the interview, McCain took a crack at a man her father made famous during last year’s presidential campaign, Joe the Plumber:

Yet even as the balance begins to shift, the old guard is still yapping in the foreground. Shortly before McCain sat for this interview, Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, gave an interview to Christianity Today in which he complained about “queers” and declared, “I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my children.” Unprompted, McCain rails against the man her father’s presidential campaign touted as an American everyman and made a showpiece in the weeks before the election. “Joe the Plumber — you can quote me — is a dumbass. He should stick to plumbing.”

Wurzelbacher later followed that comment up by saying, “Men kissing each other…it throws me off.” “It’s not something I want around my family,” he told a local ABC affiliate in Toledo, OH.

Wurzelbacher is a buffoon, typical of the repiggie intellectual capacity these days.

And I never thought I would say this but I concur with Meghan on this one. But if only Joe would get his plumbing license and end his extended 15 minutes of fame.

It’s so refreshing to learn that there’s at least one sane rational McCain in that family.

  8. P.D. says:

Kay@7, She is so rational, she should be a Democrat. Megan respects gay rights and is more Liberal than any Repug I now. Hell, even Palins son isn’t a Republican.

Meghan McCain actually scares me. She can, at times, put together a coherent thought. I wonder if she will change parties when daddy dies?

Megan is great. I’m sure she regrets becoming a republican for her birthday as a gift to her father!

  17. dae says:

Bruno! Where are you when we need you?

  18. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Can we be honest about this? About what it is exactly that Mr Wurzelbacher fears? Like most heterosexual homophobes, he is afraid that if he bends over in front of a gay man, that gay man will, because he supposedly can’t help himself, rape him. It goes without saying, though some need to hear it, that this is just as likely as one of his own heterosexual friends doing the same thing to his wife if she bent over in front of him. It is incredibly ignorant, and actually says a lot more of the guy who thinks this way than his blatant homophobia does. It is quite possible that he is very insecure in his own masculinity, or worried that his wife might be cheating on him. They may or may not apply to Mr. Wurzelbacher, I have no proof one way or the other. But it would certainly explain some things. I’ll apply Occam’s Razor on this.

  19. evangenital says:

Joe seems to have quite a few male/male rape fantasies.

  20. krdaddy says:

I just had my home entirely re-plumbed by professionals. They

identifying this doofus as a tradesman in the same way we can refrain from calling Hannity a patriot.

We’ve come to a sad state is merely not being a homophobe qualifies a person as sane or intelligent. Ditto someone being able to recognize a buffoon when they see one.

I caught Meghan on Bill Maher a few weeks ago. Her ACT is getting tired. She’s trying to be hip and relate to the “younger” generation of republicans. Yeah, who can’t relate to the daughter of a woman worth over 400m and a U.S. Senator?

Not only does she have a brain the size of a pea, she’s totaly intellecutaly dishonest.

  30. The Dogfather says:

Doc: now that SamJoe the non-plumber’s 15 minutes of fame has stretched into about an hour and a half, I bet he’d let himself be used like that all over again…

  47. Patty says:

The kicker to not-Joe-not-the-plumber’s fame is that if any Republican reviewed the initial tape showing Joe with then-candidate Obama, he/she would have to agree that Obama gave Joe an amazing amount of time, thoughtfulness and consideration in addressing Joe’s concerns.

As if McCain or Bush or any neocon would do likewise with someone who didn’t tow the party line.

Somehow, that respect got lost in the nonsense that has allowed this idiot waaaaaay more than his 15 minutes.

I think I know why SamJoe the non-plumber is such a homophobe:

Is homophobia associated with homosexual arousal?

And despite Ms. McCain having the occasional progressive thought, she’s still regressive at heart.

  51. Rich H says:

    okie dokie,

Prior to Meghans appearance on Maher she hit the talk show circuit. She was on (probably) a few dozen shows prior to her appearance perfecting her:

    “I don’t know I wasn’t born yet.”

However, on Maher, not only was she exposed for the phony she is, this snide remark just oozed “p.o.s.” from every poor.

    The comeback was the best:

“I wasn’t born during the French Revolution, but I know about it.”

Put her right in her place. She’s such a phony.

  52. katy says:

    but don’t be fooled…

i hope i’m more wrong as she grows up…
maybe she’s on the right path…

  55. okie dokie says:

    Rich H @ 51

Yeah, that was great. And I wish I could have told her that, myself.
But you have to pity her growing up in a parrot cage, though it be guilded.

  56. ljm says:

Let’s see. That’s 15 minutes of fame for Joe (extended) and 15 minutes for her. Even if you combine the two of them isn’t 30 minutes far too many for these two people to miss the exit signs which are all around them?

  57. pete says:

I’m not so sure, katy. Not that I think she has displayed any particular intellectual brilliance. I have a feeling that the young Ms. McCain will eventually split from the GOP by her own decision or by being cast out.

In her own ditzy way she has drifted away from the party line a few times. She’s one of the few Republicans who even admits her party is in trouble and I find that refreshing. I don’t recall her saying anything terribly distasteful. As long as she isn’t running for office I’m willing to give her a pass.

Although she would have a lot more credibility with me if she stopped saying Sarah Palin is “smart”!

  58. katy says:

    pot/kettle thing… thing.

yes, rich, it was on real time… that was the worst…
i LOVED when begala shot back with the french revolution line…
    she needed that.

she was on colbert (or was it letterman?) before that…
she came out with her sexual “openness”, giggled, and squeeled,
“oh my god! my dad’s going to see this! oh no!”

    as. if.

  59. Rich H says:

    okie dokie,

I guess I could pity her if she ever had to work for a living and had to figure out how to survive on her wits. It’s not easy, especially if you don’t have any.

Alas, since she obviously “attended” (I mean who knows how many classes she had to go to) college, and has more money than she could spend in this lifetime – and will probably never Work a Day in Her Life.

That and the fact she’s trying to make the most criminally corrupt Presidency appealing to the uber cool young republicans – so it’s bound to be repeated.

I think I’ll withhold my pity.

  60. Game of Life says:

The ongoing squabbles from our verbally incontinent friends on the right suggest they hate one another as much as anybody does. This, together with the right’s repressed gayness, dislike of women, and squeamishness about sex, makes one wonder how they reproduce.

  111. Purple State says:

    For the record…

How is Joe to “stick to plumbing”?

He wasn’t a “plumber” to begin with:

    Samuel Wurzelbacher
Starting point: After grilling Barack Obama about his tax plan during an Ohio rally, “Joe the Plumber” comes up 25 times in the final debate and becomes a John McCain mascot. Turns out his name isn’t Joe, he’s not a licensed plumber and he owes taxes.

  112. KayInMaine says:

Didn’t Joe the Plumber drop out of the republic party recently? I bet Sarah Palin wants to form a new political party with him. Oh gawd I hope so! It will be a laugh-a-minute!

  113. P.D. says:

So what does Joe the Plumber do anyway? He is not licensed, His bid to be a reporter for “Pajama News” (I think that was the name of the Right-wing rag) failed miserably. He seems to drift from job to another. Palin and Joe are great role models. ‘How you can succeed with no talent and intellegence.’ Should be their motto.

what family is joe the plumber talking about? Last i heard he was single with no kids. Although, maybe he lives in a weird fantasy world, where his name is really joe, he has a plumber’s license and has a bunch of kids that he needs to keep the queers away from.

  123. Tawdry says:

And I wouldn’t want brainless, racist, biased Joe around my family.

  124. Buckie Boy says:

That picture of Joe sure is….well….looks gay to me.

  125. Baloney says:

Joe the Plumber is a constructive member of our society –IN OTHER WORDS –HE WORKS FOR A LIVING, unlike you nuthead liberals who are on your lifetime disabilities for marijuana addiction or a hangnail. You’re spoiled brats, demanding to suckle from the Govt. teat from the womb to the tomb. Meanwhile we conservatives have to figure out how to pay for your massive appetites–how about this — GET A JOB.

  126. Loonie says:

Oh Meg, Joe can’t do plumbing. He just got mistaken for a plumber when he was seen crawling out of a sewer.

Maybe he should go back to his job, and quit trying to keep his 15 minutes of fame from ending. Why do right-whiners never shut up when nobody wants to hear them or their opinions??

If only these right-whiners would actually do a full days work rather than pontificating about how only they can save America from the national debt they more than doubled in 8 years, maybe we wouldn’t be in the financial hole that they led us into.

  128. youtube says:

It goes without saying, though some need to hear it, that this is just as likely as one of his own heterosexual friends doing the Sohbetsame thing to his wife if she bent over in front of him. I doubt if anyone is helping her with her public speaking engagements. It is incredibly ignorant, and actually says a lot more of the guy who thinks this way than his blatant homophobia does.youtube
